Truthfully, there _is_ a reason for the Werehog transformation, but it gets kind of glossed over in the game. Short form: When Eggman drained the Chaos Emerald energy out of Sonic and freed Dark Gaia, some of Dark Gaia's energy rushed into fill the void. That's why some of the monsters have powers like Werehog Sonic -- Sonic's "infected" with Dark Gaia energy. If you reach the end, Dark Gaia pulls the energy out of Sonic, spelling the end of the Werehog. (Side note: If you don't like Sonic's other form being called "Werehog", blame the fans. They started calling him that before any other name had been picked, and it stuck.)
Plus, Sonic beating up the Gaïa monsters made him absorb their energy, that's why his werehog (although I like the idea, the name is stupid) form becomes stronger
The new film poster made me appreciate the Werehog way more than I already did. EDIT: I just came back to say the actual trailer made me appreciate it even more. And I'm already expecting to come back to this when the "fixed" design shows up. EDIT 2: I came back, and the new trailer looks pretty nice, honestly. Still stand by what I said about appreciating the Werehog though.
Good one. The levels--while beautiful--were some of the longest I've ever played in a sonic game. They should've shaved off some of the length. Doing the hot dog missions wears down on you quick.
Two things: 1) This game is actually one of my favorites. 2) Eggman has Nights: Into Dreams (for Dreamcast) and Sonic Adventure with himself on the cover.
Lol seriously sonic generations and colours have been my first experience on games (colours on PC back when I didn't know what Dolphin was and unleashed on my PS2 when I was 6 then I got unleashed for my Xbox 360 when I turned 10. It was good stuff all the way)
I personally liked beating the crud out of devils as the Werehog. The platforming can be frustrating, but The platforming sections are filled with 1-Ups so it’s a great way to farm them. So, I like the Werehog.
I would agree if the stages went by twice as fast, but as it is it goes on way too long to get true enjoyment out of, even in the more tolerable Wii version. The Werehog boss battles, on the other hand... Those are pretty cool. And outside of fights I love the Night part of the OST even more than I enjoyed the Day part
well the upgrade system was pretty smart and the cobos felt rewarding, at least for me yeah the fighting music got annoying and the platforming could feel kinda wonky sometimes but its still better than sonic lost worlds, which more platformer than a "gotta go fast" game and its just trash
To this day, I still feel like Unleashed is the most "Complete" 3D Sonic game since no game before or since seems to have the same level of effort, polish, or scale put into it.
@@elemomnialphaIt's a good game, but it feels very underwhelming compared to Unleashed. While Colors has the advantage of no Night Stages, the best way to put it is Unleashed is like an animated feature film while Colors is like a multi part cartoon episode.
complete=/= effort polish and scale...the only thing I think I could say has over colors is scale with the whole wearhog thing...it's like people ignored colors is the game thought truly brought sonic back...Colors had tons of effort put into it...really says it when at the time it was a GOOD sonic game and has tons of polish
But when people talk about humans in Sonic games, they always refer to the games where Sonic and company live alongside a bunch of humans, whereas in many other works, it's Eggman as a sole human surrounded by a bunch of animals... inexplicably. People aren't arguing all or nothing, people are just questioning if humans outside Eggman's presence are necessary or even make sense stylistically.
Here’s what gets me ticked: the humans seemingly are gone after 2010, but how the heck is SHADOW STILL AROUND?! His entire existence is because of humans, from gerald and his granddaughter to G.U.N that caused his 50 year sleep AND THE REASON HE WAS EVEN MADE TO BEGIN WITH. And considering i consider the post 2010 games to be a very horrible reboot (the only rational way to explain the horrid writing and abandonment of stakes and fun), how the heck does shadow fit in? I like him as a character still, but he is now out of place and has no real origin or reason to be there except fan service, aka sega’s only strategy
Weston Gibson: IGN is right. Call of Duty does deserve better. Everyone: Uh, troller? I think we're convinced... You're related to tge violent (at least before the late 2000s) Mel Gibson!!!!! 😖👿👎
I don't care what negativity this game gets, it's by far my most favorite Sonic game to date. I love the Werehog stages and the story is actually a lengthy decent story (8-9 hours at least), compared to the short 2-3 hour stories we've been getting since Colors.
ArronZ M. Not gonna lie here but people can see things differently and can see the werehog stages as not boring dont need to act like ben shapiro and say your “simply stating the facts”
Sooo I hear so much hate over the game but then I search up videos and find the UA-camrs showing the game so much love, definitely more love than hate. Kinda interesting. I myself like the game but do believe the werehog sections could’ve been re-worked so it wouldn’t be as repetitive. Unfortunately it’s hard to do that with beat-em-ups/brawlers. Also the camera.... why? It’s so weird in the werehog sections. That definitely could’ve been reworked. Also after looking at all the games in the “boost trilogy” I think Unleashed actually has the fastest normal Sonic gameplay. All of the other games are a bit slower when you start boosting.
I actually like the Werehog levels a little. I just wish that Sega went more balls to the walls with the combat and made it faster and more satisfying. Also, stop playing that fucking combat music every five seconds.
honestly, sonic unleashed was so underrated. It had a magnificent OST ESPECIALLY the day time OST. the graphics were so nice, especially for those cutscenes with put in effort. the only major problem I had with this game is the night time stages (obviously). this flaw was the only reason why people hated this game and well made the game 'shit' as a whole.
@@LoxyTheReindeer AGREED. Those cut scenes were beautiful, especially the opening one. Makes me wonder why Sega couldn't animate the Sonic Movie that way.
Mach Tails yeah no kidding. Apparently the same CG team will be animating Sonic in the movie, but let’s be real that won’t save it not only is it a CGI- Live Action hybrid but Sonic’s design... its just so gross.
I actually LOVED the Werehog Stages, it was a nice break from Blazing Speeds The Platforming change of pace was nice, the Combo Mechanic was Addicting, and the Boss Fights were Awesome!
Somehow I was lucky enough to have my experiences of sonic in the order of, sonic rush, sonic 06, and sonic unleashed. Almost all of these get bashed for one reason or another but I love all of them. YES, even 06 (despite its incredibly flawed story).
night time levels: "super simplistic" childhood and current me who still can't beat all night levels without dying in some of them: "Yes…simplistic indeed"
Just because the design is simplistic doesn't mean it's easy to control. Sonic moves a little odd in general, and it becomes very obvious on the smaller platforms. And that is made worse by the weird lighting engine they used, which makes it so that in many occasions you don't even have a drop shadow to guide you.
@@conormeade3849 kinda... he does speak very little english in super smash bros through the copy abilities of the other fighters, and i think he said a few words in the first episode of the kirby anime
@@JoSephGD I'm sorry, but there is no way on God's blue Earth that Unleashed could ever get 60FPS on the PS3. In all likelyhood the additional chugging comes from the fact that this game was released fairly early in the PS3's life, and the developers were still struggling with the Cell architecture.
Since Antdude is clearly deaf, I'd like to point out that Sonic's transformation has a completely valid explanation. As explained by Chip in Adabat, Dark Gaia can affect people in strange ways. Usually, this takes the form of mind control and unusual behaviour. But Sonic's mind is too strong for Dark Gaia to manipulate, so it affects his body instead. This is backed up by some of Dark Gaia's minions, who also have stretchy limbs. As for the timing of the transformation, Dark Gaia can only move and manipulate freely in the dark. During the day, it goes into a sort of hibernation state. Ergo, Sonic becomes himself again at sunrise. This is all obvious if you just listen to a darn word anyone says in the cutscenes. I feel this was an important fact that went completely unmentioned. He makes it sound as if no reason is ever given for the Werehog's existence, which would be a blatant lie if that was the intention. Sorry, just really had to get that out there. Carry on, folks.
you don't even have to listen to any words, just look at the gaja enemies. Only appear at night, can somewhat shapeshift. The Werehog is clearly a fusion of Sonic and the dark gana enemies.
"Completely valid". From a certain point of view. I mean, I know it's Sonic and weird things happen, but let's not try and defend the Werehog. It's dumb even by Sonic's standards.
@PolarPhantom I can see what you mean. The werehog doesn't seem like something that belongs in a sonic game. honestly I avoided the game for a long time because of the werehog. mostly do to critizism of other youtubers and cause I thought it would be some clichee edgy "I'm a werewolf, I'm so full of sadness, angst and anger" story. I dunno why, but at some point I decided to give the game a fair try. To see if I can still get some fun out of it. And while I can agree that the Werehog stages should be much shorter, besides that I pretty much enjoyed them.
I’m playing Sonic Unleashed for the first time in 2019 And it might be the best 3D game The regular Sonic levels actually let you go off the beaten path and explore like a proper game and the God Of War night stages are completely fine and fun
i agree with this so much. i get what people didnt like about the werehog but at least there was a fun combo and upgrade system. sonic adventure 2 and unleashed are my favorite titles, shortly followed by generations but i cant really get into it with the cartoon sonic games. esspecially lost world seems like trash to me. i personally like 3D sonic to be FAST and awesome looking. generations and unleashed gave me that feeling as well as sonic rush for the 2D version. SA2B was great rather because of lore, the best characters the game has seen yet, different playstyles, OST and the crazy chao garden. i mean like goddamn somebody in the development really wanted that chao thing to get done right.
@@JoeDidIt I think the repetitive battle music during the night stages take a toll on players' investment on the night stages, a long with few dragged janks on the execution, but it's a fine addition to the entire 3D sonic legacy
ScoopyDoo let them come I have my credentials ready. It only isn’t the best if we count fan games and then it’s 1. Sonic Robo Blast 2 2. Sonic Unleashed
This is legit my favorite Sonic game. Maybe I just have nostalgia goggles, but I adore this game. I can def see the problems with it, but it's still a lot of fun for me. By the way, the werehog and stretchy arms happen because Sonic was infused with Dark Gaia's energy at the beginning of the game when Eggman broke the planet. If you look at the enemies, they have stretchy arms too, and at the end, Dark Gaia takes its energy back from Sonic so it can be at full power. I don't know why people don't catch this but...well, there it is. I thought it was obvious.
Finally, I starting to think I'm the only one, noticing the similarities between the gaja enemies and the werehog. ^^ I think this was actually a very clever and subtle way to do so. The Player just needs to put some attention on it ^^
Unleashed is my favourite modern sonic game Sonic 3 and Knuckles is my favourite classic sonic game and I really don't get why this one never get's a console release. Sonic 2 and CD allways but never the really good one. :(
“I would watch an entire movie based on this style” Yeah so would I, and likely many other people would as well... instead we have live action Why Sega WHY!!!
I played the Wii version So I never had the problem that you’ve had And to me swinging the Wii remote was hella satisfying I’m in the category of I loving Unleashed
I was also wondering what his final words are for the Wii version, like it sounded like he was prefering that one (like most people, heck I also prefer them despite Afroca & whatever Sonic NY was called again missing in the Wii iteration. From pacing, to gamedesign ideas it was all on the much more appealing side!) but didn't include it for the video?
@@cjhs2006 How About You Simmer The Hell Down, If You Can’t Realize That This Was A Joke By A Random Internet Stranger On A One Year Old Comment You Have Bigger Problems
Call me crazy, but i actually liked the werehog. Bashing hundreds of enemies with a plethora of combos was so satisfying and fun. My only two issues with it was that the stages were LONG. Way to long....it’s so annoying to be in the middle of a werehog stage only to die and start it all over again. Another thing is that sometimes you get crowed by way to many enemies, and it gets annoying real fast. Other than that, i still like him. Nice review
absolutly agree, they just need to be shorter, otherwise the werehog is a pretty good concept. Also love how you can figure out, by looking at the enemies, what the werehog actually is. It's more a fusion of Sonic and the gaja enemies (appearing only at night, being able to somewhat shapeshift). In this regard it does actually makes sense ingame, how he became like this.
@@no_u_no_u well god damn, I wish I would've known that before I went out and bought a 360 this past summer. I would've sprung the extra cash for an Xbox one.
Me: *sees a sonic unleashed vid review* Antdude: “im gonna do it im gonna play it Me: :o “dude maybe he will play the best version of the game: the xbox 360 version” Antdude: im gonna be playing on the ps3 version Me: :/
Still own the PS2 version (though I did try out all forms in the end). Funny how the PS2 and Wii versions rank pretty higher than PS3 (which was the worst) and a little higher than the 360 (which had much less lag and glitching issue, but couldn't compare to the PS2 or even the Wii). From what I gathered, both of the first two removed the necessity to move in the hub world and to just have a text-based, which removed the Sonic '06 horror of needing to move and talk to everything. Combat system for the Werehog was made simple and had a better, more fluid skill-tree which was linear and reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy series. Only other thing I can think of is that the former two didn't use the newer software that the latter two did, which meant they relied on more concise, stable, and familiar tech, which also left out most of the issues. In short (and apologies for a long post after getting done with work): 360 was miles ahead of the PS3 version, but the PS2 version has the most stability and consistency on a decent (at least compared to the next 12+ years as of now) game in a modern age where quality and game playability are dwindling. ...that, and I still loved Sonic '06 regardless of all the glitches and horrible development choices.
@Milan Andreoli that's not what he meant 1.He meant sonic has fur 2.He was saying if someone is a furry for liking the werehog they would be a furry for liking sonic
No offense, and no I’m not mad, I just wanna point something out. The “were-hog” doesn’t fit in because it wasn’t supposed to. It was supposed to be something new and it’s clearly not meant to be “Sonic gameplay” as in one cutscene you can clearly see Sonic get a little sad/discouraged because he’s not himself. Maybe I’m over-analyzing but also when they made the avatar almost the same to Sonic in forces y’all complained it was too similar. In here you complain it’s not similar enough. Yeah you can argue that in Forces it’s a different character but you’re still pretty much contradicting yourself. Again not mad just trying to explain.
Elijah Aoki knuckles might’ve made more sense but then everyone would probably complain about it not being Sonic or something. Either way like you said good game
@@thenekokatze1141 The upgrading system was built for Eggmanland because Eggmanland was designed to be the ultimate level 9 years in the making since it was foreshadowed from Sonic Adventure 1, thats 9 years of build up thats why it was challenging, Eggmanland is not hell and we should not demonize it because the developers went all out to create a level that we would feel accomplished when we complete it.
I think the main reason this game got hate is because of 06's bad rep it was suddenly just cool to hate sonic out of bandwagon, I really enjoyed the 360/PS3 version this game I didn't mind the night stages at all if anything it felt rewarding to go through so you could unlock the better day stages, the wii version on the other hand I can't speak to highly of considering there were more night stages than day that and there was no hud to walk around in.
Deathmetalmaniac96 and critics. Critics completely destroy the game, people look to critics before buying the game, then just hop on the bandwagon. It’s stupid.
The main problem with unleashed literally lies on its gimmick: The Werehog. The stages are terribly tedious. Is the game terrible? No. Is it a Sonic game that should be regarded highly? No. I think it's just an average game and it's good enough with day stages.
Deathmetalmaniac96 the wii version is so much better tho. It got rid of all the tedious shit in the ps3 version and if you combine the lengths of time you spend in night stages in both games it’s roughly the same. The wii version just has a lot more levels which are more varied.
@@desinewman4160 The wii version sucks. The day stages are just empty valleys with no obstacles were all your doing is running. The werehog in that version is not good at all. Only one combo and lazy level design. You play three acts of the werehog which combined takes 15 min while in the ps3 version you beat those levels in 2 to 8 min (without exploring)
More specifically it is a lighting engine. It is very impressive, but when Unleashed came out the game had a lot of framerate issues especially on PS3 (this was the time of the terrible PS3 multiplats btw). On Generations they toned down significantly
If anything, it's incredibly overrated now. Fans for years have touted it as one of, if not the best Sonic game and I still don't understand how or why considering the fluff in the HD version and the overall decent quality in SD version. Not to mention, in my experience, Unleashed fans tend to be the most annoying Sonic fans nowadays since they constantly try and talk about how their game are better than the others for no reason.
I really like how Sonic doesn’t complain about the Werehog’s stretchy arms. He immediately realizes that it could give him an advantage and goes with it. Resourcefulness!
Its amazing how each time sonic does a thing, people hate it until sonic does something worse xD, anyway sonic unleashed is one of my fav 3D sonic games, its the only one that gave me the sense of an adventure(the last one was sonic adventure 1)
Sonic turns into the Werehog because of Dark Gia energy being infused within him due to being part of what was needed to fire the cannon. It still doesn't really show this too well, but I'll let it slide because it's explained later (and Unleashed HD is my favourite Sonic game and game in general). I don't really find the Werehog sections bad, as there's a large amount of depth to the combat below the surface (critical attacks, guarding, unleash bar, health management). Unleashed HD is also challenging, which is why the levels can take a while for a lot of people, as deaths are frequent, but rarely feel unfair. Even in Eggmanland, the difficulty never reaches ‘cheap’ levels, but still tests your skills in good ways. The quick-time event weren't too nessessary, but their rarely required, and when they are they give you a decent amount of time. The Tornado sections aren't great, but it's a decent homage to Sonic Adventure (which is why I kind of consider Sonic Unleashed to be a spiritual successor to Adventure 1). I find the non-HD version to be the inferior version though. It's kind of terrible to experience in my opinion. It removes all of the challenge of the real version and you're left with nothing. And the Unleashed project isn't really all that great. You remove half of an amazing game to run the other half ‘better’. You're removing the opposite of day, and the themes of the levels don't stand on their own as much if you don't see both sides of the level.
ArronZ M. Yeah, if you don't like the game, that's fine. I just do. I find the gameplay really fun at pretty much all times. But obviously, the Unleashed Project is more polished for the most part. So if you like that, it's fine.
Only reasoning I could think of is: Eggmanland is the final area/realm, Dark Gaia's lair is the final level/stage. True, the wording is a bit off, but it makes a bit of sense.
This was unfortunately what my childhood consisted of... Crying over and over and over by the frustration I felt and getting my dad to complete the game for me. Shoutout to my dad for being more patient than I was.
Lol, I know how you feel: when you're young you don't have as much patience as our parents do, and I used to get VERY impatient when playing games like The legend of Zelda or even the first Sonic the Hedgehog game. I really miss my childhood just as much. It's nice to meet you and pretty name as well ⚘
I remember seeing someone on Twitter saying Unleashed's werehog should be praised for, and I quote, "offering variety in gameplay" and "downtime between action", and here I am wondering: why does a game that has hubwords, gateways, medal requirements, useless plane sections needs MORE downtime? Also, in a game where you run fast with action setpieces everywhere, why the game needs downtime for that? I prefer short and sweet than 3 hours of fun coupled with 12 hours of apathy/boredom/annoyance.
@@Jdudec367 Yeah I get it people have different opinions. However, I don't get how games like Colors and Generations are considered better than Unleashed or other past Sonic games. They're too quick to beat, boring to sit through since they barely have no story, terrible voice actors, and changed almost every Sonic character's personality overall including Sonic.
@@R.J.Crimson99 Well, both Colors and Generations sticked to their formulas and had a better flow overall. Instead of going fast and then slow, they had a more consistent pace. In Colors you had the Wisps, which while they offered variety to the gameplay, they didn't cut the core gameplay too much unlike the Werehog. Sure, Colors' level design was as good, but at least it tried to bring actual platforming unlike Unleashed (which was mostly boost-to-win). This was later refined in Generations, where speed and platforming are better integrated. Also Classic Sonic behaves as a brand new gameplay, much like the Werehog does, but instead of being original for the sake of being original, they took a something that worked in the past and it did here too, with no problems. Voice acting between Unleashed and Generations feel overall the same, with Griffith and Smith doing a great job in their roles for Sonic and while Unleashed had a better story overall, the in-between parts were rather samey. Also, they already mentioned it, but I rather have a short but fun and memorable experience rather than just a game that drags along and only is fun for about 30% of the time.
@@R.J.Crimson99 really?they don't seem very different if you ask me...but playing through them...yeah there waaaaaay to quick but not boring at all Colors didn't have that bad of a story really and the voice acting wasn't bad either in my opinion
The reason Sonic turns into the Werehog is because, since Eggman drains the Chaos Emeralds of all their energy, Sonic is filled with the Negative Chaos Energy, transforming him into a beast. It's kind of like a beauty and the beast situation, minus the beauty.
Hate to be that guy... But... You screwed up. The Hedgehog engine isn't the gameplay engine. It's the graphical engine. Also, colors doesn't use it and sonic lost world does. Sorry, but this had to be done.
1. Hedgehog Engine 1 is both a gameplay and graphical engine. It executes the code. What matters is what the devs put into it. And what the Havoc Physics Engine it utilizes is set to use. 2. Lost World uses the Hedgehog Engine 2. So does Forces.
It did but as far is i know it was just a graphics processing overall but i feel like that since forces (to me at least ) feels like a beta or that the team was just taking easy to test the new engine which means there might be something more happening under the hood
Bananaman 3014YT I think that was implied in it using the Hedgehog Engine. It’s also just the graphical engine, apparently. And Sonic Colors doesn’t even use it, which I can only assume is because the Wii wasn’t compatible, but I don’t know if the Wii version of Unleashed uses it either, so who knows.
@@TheMGMfan That's right, the Wii is incompatible with the Hedgehog Engine. Also. Forces is generally lower in quality than Unleashed, Colors, and Generations because it was made by new developers and stage designers that had literally never worked on a Sonic game before.
SA2: Has slower segments where you don't run fast as sonic "It's a classic!" Unleashed: Has slower segments where you don't run fast as sonic "It's so bad, eeugh."
Those slow sections in SA2, to my recollection, are few and far between, while in Unleashed they take up half of the damn game. Execution is what matters here, and Unleashed handled it poorly.
There are most slow sections in SA2 than in Unleashed. Basically two thirds of the game is slow in SA2 and in Unleashed the amount of slow stages is even (on HD. SD was not as balanced). There are two issues though: SA2 (although I dont like as much) is shorter so even if it has more objectively slower stages, the game doesnt drag as much as Unleashed and the actual hack and slash design is poorly executed, it seems that Sonic Team just saw a gameplay of God of War and thrown sections of mindless combat without context. It is easy to be overwhelmed by enemies, to be thrown or stunned for a long time and redo large sections of levels, there are enemies which completely regenerate health if you miss a QTE and so on , unlike slower sections of SA2 which are more forgiving
The complaints are mostly about Rouge and Knuckles stages on SA2, but Eggman and Tails are slow too, just not as much. They made these hunting stages with random locations and you only had three tips to ask (or the help screen would disappear), unlike hunting stages on Sonic Adventure which were fixed and could be avoided (SA2 forces you to go to all characters and playstyles to finish, unlike SA that every character and playstyle is separate and you dont need to play boring stages to go to the ones you want)
I played SA2 and really the majority of the game isnt slow but it has really this feel like you have little control of where you go and you have just one path like considering that the last stage for sonic is just “sonic in space” and the outside rail segment is really boring and i really only tried jumping off the top and landing at a rail near the bottom
I feel like I'm one of the only ones who thinks this but werehog levels, while not being Sonic-esque at all, had something going for them. To a kid it was a challenge that I wasn't expecting but I liked it and some of my fondest memories of this game were the platforming segments because some of them really were quite thought through and fun to do (most notably the clock tower in Spagonia)
@@masdez I was born in the classic era and I love the werehog stages all the same as normal stages. A mix of DMC and Sonic is a good thing in my eyes. I can see enemies like the basic DG Grunts as Stygnims (not sure if I'm spelling it right, it's been a while) and Sonic having claws instead of Caliburn to mirror Rebellion while a missed opportunity is good cuz you still get combos good enough
I remember i really struggled with the Tornado sections Not because they were hard but because I didn’t know the button layout of a PS3 cause it was the first game I got for it
I love the boost gameplay personally. Generations did it really well. The stages weren't a slog the first time, while having many split paths to discover.
3:46 it turned sonic into the werehog because the chaos emeralds turned dark and lost power because of dark Gaia which then affected sonic who was using the emeralds, and it transformed him into that with some of dark gaia’a powers like the stretchy arms and colour scheme
That's really unlikely since they already revealed what some of the story was, and I doubt that has anything to do with the werehog. Although seeing how development for the movie is going, I would love to see an Unleashed-themed movie. Werehog and all.
I really don't get why they don't want to make the movie animated. Sonic clearly is a cartoon character, looking at his poor design. Heck, unleashed pretty much shows how much better this would work. I don't mind giving sonic a redesign, but at least put him in the right medium
i like how when mario makes a bad game people are quick to forget about it but when sonic makes a bad game its all over the news and media and everybody's mom knows about it
The worst mainline Mario game, from a technical standpoint, is Mario Sunshine imo (this is coming from a guy who jerks off Sunshine). But even then the closest counterpart to Sunshine would probably be Adventure 1&2, which many consider to be the peak of Sonic. So even when Mario has a weak game, it is still just as good as one of Sonic's best games. This is because unlike Sega, Nintendo does care what happens to their cash cow.
Internet culture certainly hasn't helped the Blue Blur at all either. It's become a sort of meme to trash on Sonic as a franchise just because there are bad games in the series, and reviewers certainly haven't helped this attitude at all either. Videos like PGB's Sonic Heroes …. review? Joke video? I don't even know what to call it, but it makes a perfectly mediocre game out to look like absolute trash. It's fine if people don't like Sonic, but at least respect the franchise for what it has accomplished.

Thank you for ex plaining , the part about his heart/mind being too strong to be 'in fluenced' is very interesting.
you don't even have to listen to any words, just look at the gaja enemies. Only appear at night, can somewhat shapeshift. The Werehog is clearly a fusion of Sonic and the dark gana enemies.

"penultimate final level"
Em... That doesn't make sense
“Second to last final level” lmao
Only reasoning I could think of is: Eggmanland is the final area/realm, Dark Gaia's lair is the final level/stage. True, the wording is a bit off, but it makes a bit of sense.

BA BA BA BA DA DA DAAAAAA
I remember seeing someone on Twitter saying Unleashed's werehog should be praised for, and I quote, "offering variety in gameplay" and "downtime between action", and here I am wondering: why does a game that has hubwords, gateways, medal requirements, useless plane sections needs MORE downtime?
Also, in a game where you run fast with action setpieces everywhere, why the game needs downtime for that? I prefer short and sweet than 3 hours of fun coupled with 12 hours of apathy/boredom/annoyance.
So you prefer playing Generations? Disgusting.
@@R.J.Crimson99 called a preferemce

Turn it up! Hey Matt and Ryan, turn it up!
The reason Sonic turns into the Werehog is because, since Eggman drains the Chaos Emeralds of all their energy, Sonic is filled with the Negative Chaos Energy, transforming him into a beast. It's kind of like a beauty and the beast situation, minus the beauty.

You have to admit that 3D sonic Cutscenes look pretty epic.
Hate to be that guy... But... You screwed up. The Hedgehog engine isn't the gameplay engine. It's the graphical engine. Also, colors doesn't use it and sonic lost world does.

@@75JUNAKI Your right I'm sorry
@@awesometron7866 wow, what a dickhead
1. Hedgehog Engine 1 is both a gameplay and graphical engine. It executes the code. What matters is what the devs put into it. And what the Havoc Physics Engine it utilizes is set to use.
2. Lost World uses the Hedgehog Engine 2. So does Forces.
On my ps3 the game runs perfectly. On my friends xbox 360 however that's a different story.
People don't realize that its not the consoles fault its usually the person who owns it fault.
@@olddoge6072..... No. That makes no sense whatsoever
You must have a... Ok I have no realistic answer to explain this
@WH250398 I.... THINK that was a joke
Forces uses the hedgehog engine 2.
It did but as far is i know it was just a graphics processing overall but i feel like that since forces (to me at least ) feels like a beta or that the team was just taking easy to test the new engine which means there might be something more happening under the hood
no?
Bananaman 3014YT I think that was implied in it using the Hedgehog Engine. It’s also just the graphical engine, apparently. And Sonic Colors doesn’t even use it, which I can only assume is because the Wii wasn’t compatible, but I don’t know if the Wii version of Unleashed uses it either, so who knows.
AKA the terrible version
@@TheMGMfan That's right, the Wii is incompatible with the Hedgehog Engine.
Also. Forces is generally lower in quality than Unleashed, Colors, and Generations because it was made by new developers and stage designers that had literally never worked on a Sonic game before.
I was so confused because I remembered none of this. Then he brought up how it’s different on the Wii and I suddenly understood.
The superior version
SA2: Has slower segments where you don't run fast as sonic
"It's a classic!"
Unleashed: Has slower segments where you don't run fast as sonic
"It's so bad, eeugh."
SA2 is pretty divided even among the fanbase. Lord do I remember people complaining about Dr. Eggman's & Tail's sections.

They just aren't fun to anyone who didn't grow up with it. But good on you for liking something despite popular opinion
Sonic unleashed is honesty my favorite sonic game
I remember i really struggled with the Tornado sections
Not because they were hard but because I didn’t know the button layout of a PS3 cause it was the first game I got for it
14:35 that’s because the Wii version prerendered cut scenes are from the 360 version which performs a tad better but no 60 FPS.
I love the boost gameplay personally. Generations did it really well. The stages weren't a slog the first time, while having many split paths to discover.

That the main reason why Mario fans don't complain about it when in doubt Mario has like 2 or 3 bad games.
Name a properly bad mario game in the last 20 years.
Do the same for sonic.
