7:07 I remember doing this glitch completely by accident as a kid and I ended up beating the stage in what the game thought was 25 seconds as a result. It was extremely satisfying.
As someone who's worked on programming a few games before, my guess behind why slowmo carries over with the boss is that, when you beat the boss, a flag is set to put the game in slowmo; this flag is removed after a certain point in the cutscene is reached. However, if you die, this flag is never reached, so the game is left in slowmo. Developers probably forgot to add that flag to death in addition to things such as finishing the cutscene or exiting the level.
that is kinda obvious for anyone who has coded atleast movement , you don`t need to be an expert to know theses kinds of things , the very contrary , anyone could guess this if you atleast did ANY coding . Games are programmed in a way that they need to manually set every outcome possible so nothing can slip out of the cracks , becoming so called bugs , to do this they need to think outside the box to prevent things like main events not happening or not being disabled , like programming an key to do something that needs to be continued is easy , but making it disable itself or have different combination adds a little spice to it and gets kinda hard with the more detailed stuff , but it`s still needed , one of the reasons why sonic 06 is so buggy is unfinished things / hurrying development , they didn`t do the "think outside the box" parts of the programming , they are called bugreels or debugging , they did almost none of that , most sonic games lack the propper debugging , with very few exceptions such as the older sonic games , just for releasing the game earlier .
Why do people say Unleashed was bad? I honestly thought it was very fun, even the Werehog levels. Edit: Not sure why people are still liking and replying to this comment I made more than 6 years ago. For the record, as I've grown and matured over the years, I've sorta grown to dislike Unleashed. It's not a *bad* game or anything, but man, I *hate* the Werehog and medal collecting. It's just so sluggish and tedious, it really brings the game down for me... The Sonic levels are good but that's about it.
@@the1whoplayz in version 1.0 you could drop out of the air in the initial launch into the level. Watch the Son of a glitch episode for Forces for a better explanation
yeah, pretty much. Considering how much effort went into the details in that game, it wouldn't surprise me at this point. Seriously, if you have the game, check out the character and item descriptions, especially the one for the crazier sister in the Shamar Pretty Committee.
when you go fast as the speed of light you build mass, sonic is at the speed of light but his speed would be faster than the speed of light so then he builds up mass which makes the black hole
People hate Unleashed for the Werehog. Literally the only reason why they hate it. The Werehog isn't even that bad and its combat is designed well compared to Rise of Lyric.
Ghost Mode is a result of the Havok simulation / collision detection throwing an exception whenever one of the game's movable bodies goes outside of the boundaries of the Havok World. It's only around a few km diameters in size by default, but the game does override the value whenever it needs it for bigger stages. As you said, the only way to trigger it on regular gameplay is by managing to get out of the Havok World's boundaries and triggering the exception. The glitch goes away when a new Havok World is created, so pretty much whenever it switches back to another stage.
Wow, 7 months making this, since before the Sonic Colors episode. Would have been out in January or February, but other broken games came out like Paper Jam, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted 4. Plus, M-speed/D-speed is hard to do :( Anyway, here it is, the much requested Sonic Unleashed, Enjoy! Andy
Austin Taylor Undertale isn't particularly broken, at least with the glitches that have been discovered so far. And most of the glitches really aren't helpful to a casual player, but are instead used for speedruns. I guess he may make a Minor Glitch for the game, but probably not a full one.
This is my favourite Sonic game period. I could go on for hours describing my love for it, so much effort was put into this, much more than Generations. It has probably my favourite Sonic OST, and possibly my favourite vocal song of all time Endless Possibilities, I gives such a sense of finale when you here it in the end credits as if the game itself is saying farewell. Though I care less for Sonic than I use to, I will always respect this game more than any other. This game, kind of makes me tear up a bit when I beat it, and I don't know why, I know it has its flaws, but it holds a very special place in my heart.
SAME and if you on ps3 and have 10 games or something max sonic out go to the first stage (not the tutorial ) and try to get an s rank, everything will glitch out if your fast enough
yess man. i just bought the ps3 again after not having it for 6 years. saved up for 5 months for it and now im going to buy sonic unleashed this week back again to bring my favourite game back
For the same reasons you saw in the video: the game can't handle it. A lot of glitches invoke moving fast enough to bypass collision detection, and sonic is almost always moving just under those speeds, most likely because that's as fast as they can make him go with current programming and still have him stay somewhat playable. When they were first making Sonic 1, they had trouble making the loops, because he went so fast, he IGNORED THEM COMPLETELY.
It's nostalgic to come back to this video 7 years later after practicing all of these glitches and tricks, especially M-speed and D-speed and now I can say I'm quite good at them. Definitely no japanese speedrunner or anything, but I'm reminded of why I love Sonic games because of these speed glitches.
I remember I did that first glitch by myself one time I was playing the game on my 360 I was so hype but being so young I didn't have a webcam to record so I just didn't worry about it
When I go into the "black hole" as seen at 15:00 I would wait and restart but while it would be loading the game would crash. I don't know if it's just chance or if you wait long enough.
I figured out how the infinite rings glitch works. You dash through so the game doesn’t know if the rings are there or not and when you walk on where they are it repeatedly spawns the rings in order to fix the error and gives you infinite rings
1:54 - Thanks @A+Start for this! Amazing video! It's this part ended up inspiring me to make my own videos (after messing around in the game to end up finding some interesting things)! 😁 (I ended up finding something interesting about it that I don't think many know about.)
So for the mission Failed/Complete at the same time glitch (remember that I don't actually know Sonic Unleashed's code, so this is all educated guesswork)... The first part is fairly easy to decipher. You die because you fell off the edge. You don't succeed the mission because the mission is only programmed to complete once you hit the floor, since that's the only place Sonic can do his victory animation. Part two is more complex. Once you die, you're able to walk around because the mission is programmed to complete when you _land_ , rather than when you're _standing_ . This means that you have to enter the landing animation by jumping, in order to complete the mission. However, the landing animation seems to be what resets Sonic's "have I hit a death barrier" variable, and skipping this animation with the victory animation prevents the variable from resetting. Combined with the fact that Sonic does "land" - if only for a single frame - the game sees that Sonic has landed, sees that he's hit a death barrier, and decides that he must be dead. So that's the most likely reason that Sonic can both complete and fail the mission. Since I don't know how Sonic Unleashed handles animations, I can't do any more than guess as to why they go weird. I think that the victory animation, which is usually stopped by the loading screen, continues without stopping since you never reached the loading screen. The code for in-game animations and the victory animation are likely entirely separate, but since they affect the same model, having both of them play at once makes said model take parts of both animations and combine them. As for the "holding an enemy causing the mission to complete" part... That's probably because the game checks for certain things before it kills you. One of these things is whether you're holding anything; because carrying an enemy while dying would cause glitches, the game is programmed to check whether you're holding an enemy, then remove it from you. This likely takes an entire frame to happen, leaving the death for the next frame, but remember that by then you've already skipped from the landing animation to the victory animation, meaning that the game no longer has a reason to kill you, and the victory plays out as "normal". The ability to play during the victory screen may be due to the game not expecting you to land while carrying an enemy at the same time as completing the mission. This is probably because the game requires that you kill all enemies to advance to the end, so under normal circumstances this situation would be impossible. Since the game can't decipher this dynamic, it instead acts as normal as it can, changing Sonic to the regular "landing with an enemy" animation, which, once complete, becomes the "idle with an enemy" animation, allowing you to move as normal. Again, all this is guesswork. I just wanted to try and decipher what's going on here, since I'm studying a Games Design course.
In Rooftop Run Act 1, at the grinding section after the clock tower segment, you're supposed to wall jump into to the booster on the rail. However, if you hop over the booster and keep hopping, you'll start to speed up.Not really a speedrun tactic because it takes quite a while to set up.

Watching this remembers you didn't check out the model for the werehog in the low poly episode of sonic unleashed

RIP Sanic
He ran fast and died a virgin
He was too fast.
No one gets the joke. (It's a TF2 reference right?)
@Michael Raffi nope
MY FAVORITE SONIC UNLEASHED VIDEO ON UA-cam I LOVE THIS GAME
are you going to do the ps2/ wii version?
i hope so i have the wii version
I don't know why they even made those versions, they're so watered down and boring
I own both the PS2 and PS3 version, and loved both of them. Now I can play both version in Sonic Generations on the PC.
I have the wii version most of the graphical glitches such as grinding are the same as well as m speed and d speed
also when not running or brawling, the game plays like a visual novel.
In Rooftop Run Act 1, at the grinding section after the clock tower segment, you're supposed to wall jump into to the booster on the rail. However, if you hop over the booster and keep hopping, you'll start to speed up.Not really a speedrun tactic because it takes quite a while to set up.
MatPat: The fastest Sonic can get is 80 m/s.
M speed / D speed: Hold my speed.
In Windmill Isle act 2 there is a random invisible platform and when you go down in certain areas you will fall into the ground and die.
Where?
I forgor but pretty sure above map
It’s been 4 years... anyone still watch this video?
yep
Yeah Same😂
Nah
i pulled of the invisible objects glitch just by having a scratched disk...i can still remember passing the stage and there being an incredibly cursed sonic there.
