The sad thing to that Motorbug hack is that the guy who made it passed away due to a car accident. The Sonic Mania devs even made a tribute to him by naming one of the Hard-Boiled Heavy’s Motorbug after the creator’s name.

Kinda irrelevant now, but there's a Sonic ROM hack that I really like which puts Amy and Cream into Sonic 2. Since they're 2 of my favourite Sonic characters of ALL TIME, you can see why I think it's so awesome 👍🏻
Cream is adorable, sure, but... Amy is practically insufferable in the 3D games.

Ashuro is based off a glitch in sonic 2 debug mode, on emerald hill if you place a lot of waterfall sprites at a fast speed, and exit the mode, it causes Sonics sprite to get a little discolored.

I'm actually baffled you didn't talk about An Ordinary Sonic ROM Hack and The S-Factor. And Atomic Sonic deserves to be polished (A LOT) and expanded to a full game. It's just way too awesome. And Sonic Erazor man, that one is just plain crazy.

Yeah but I think a couple of fans and a professional company with millions of dollars should have different standards. I actually think SEGA should be doing larger and more dark sonic games. The core sonic games can be done by the fans as proved with Mania. Indie developers don't have the resources that the AAA studios have but they usually have far lower development cost.

depends on the specific rom being hacked. You may need a gba emulator or sega genesis. The hacks them selves more often than not tell you what you need.
