It took me over an hour to beat Eggmanland first time through. It definately lives up to being a final level. Thank goodness it drops extra lives like candy. For the most part it varies from person to person based on their experience, the way they go through Final Horizon and finally what settings they have for how characters control(initial Speed, acceleration, momentum etc). For example if the player ignored update 2's additional platforming sections and rushes toward the ending then they will have zero practice and be caught completely unprepared compared to if they did go through at least some of Update 2's content and took their time with Final Horizon then they just be challenged by the platforming. I don't think there was ever a level in any game that gave me as much frustration as Eggmanland. I remember stocking over at least 30 lives for it, using a good chunk of them, and screaming something like "FINALLY! UP YOURS!" when I finally cleared it.
about the big Gaia guys: I've heard that when you're knocked back and they do their radial shockwave attack, it's actually better to *not* immediately try to get back. Because when you're in the knocked-out state, the radial shockwave moves over Sonic without damaging him. Or so i've heard, somewhere.

Just a heads up Once you get knocked down by the Titan shockwave as the Werehog, you can actually just wait on the ground and stay invincible until you decide to press A to get up again.
Although it has it's flaws Unleashed is my favorite in the franchise. Best music, best story and best voice acting, and best looking game in the franchise. The Day time stages are a blast and feel rewarding to S-rank. The night stages aren't that bad and the first few are honestly a guilty pleasure. It was fun to watch this LP? (what ever you wanna call it)
I wonder if he'll play the DLC levels. Both the day and night stages are really fun, and I've really enjoyed S ranking them, so I wonder how he'll feel about them.
Congrats! I've never played Sonic Unleashed but it looks pretty good. Those cutscenes were amazing! Sega usually does a great job with presentation. Though, why is it that the two most iconic videogame villains of the 8 and 16 bit era both use amusement parks as their final challenge to defeat their arch-nemesis?
I bought this game twice, the Wii version and the PS3 version and to this day Unleashed still remains as one of my top favorites. Nothing beats the rush of adrenaline with the Dark Gaia boss battle
Wait, I just realized, did you ever turn back to normal after literally becoming Sonic at the beginning of this series? We never saw the conclusion to that, so now I'm curious.
Exactly what I came to the comments for. I mean I know he's had to play them, but Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, I personally just want the supercut library to be complete
I loved Eggman land! I understand how many would hate how the level was too difficult, but I love it when the game makes the difficulty spike greatly in the end. I remember playing this with my older brother when I was like 10, he would hate the night stages while I personally loved them. We beat the game together by juggling the controller to each other depending on what stage it was at the time. You wouldn't believe our shocked reaction when the last level was BOTH stages at once! We both we're throwing the PS2 controller back to each other so much! We'd Game Over a lot and then I would grind us back to 99 lives when we did. (I didn't mind losing, I'd get to grind on the day stages) It took us like a month to beat the last part of the game, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Sonic Unleashed was personally an S tier sonic game for me, and I hope more people can love it for what it was back then, and not compare it to games now.
Eggmanland day was easily the hardest stage in the franchise to me, but it was a lot of fun completing it 100% back in the day. It brings me lots of good memories
Still idk which verison is more bs the HD verison of eggmanland or the wii/ps2 verison(especially since these ones you have to play through twice back to back and as a time trial for the second)
i recently saw a video where someone was trying to get a "platinum badge" for this game, which mean getting EVERY other badge. the hardest one, by far, is completing all the challenges given to you by a Chili Dog Vendor. one of those challenges requires you to beat this level in 15 minutes... *WITHOUT LOSING A SINGLE LIFE* !!!!!
The level that brought children across the world to pure agony, the level that has caused more heart attacks than seeing a spider in your room then having it suddenly disappears.
For people who are currently in the middle of a playthrough of this game, some advice I have for you before going into this level is to stockpile as many extra lives as you possibly can. This is one of the main reasons I was able to get through Eggmanland because otherwise I probably would've given up. Before you start the level just go to other mission areas like Apotos (which I find the easiest) and collect all of the hidden extra lives in the main level area (the place where the level portals are located), then exit the area when you're done and go back in to collect them again. Repeat this for as long as necessary in order to get as many extra lives as you can. That way when you eventually attempt Eggmanland you don't have to worry about losing all of your lives and starting the whole thing over again. I had to restart the level twice before I thought about this and i was on the verge of giving up. Honestly if I hadn't thought to stockpile lives I probably would've given up on the level entirely and left the game unfinished for another 5 years lmao.
I always go into Eggmanland after dedicating time to grinding resources. So much so that I know the best stage for grinding EXP is Windmill Isle Night Act 1, and the best stages for grinding Rings and Lives are Windmill Isle Day Act 2 and Rooftop Run Day Act 1. You can also indirectly grind EXP by grinding Rings and spending them on food to feed Sonic. The extra hot dog missions also help a lot since they're the best source of EXP for Sonic during the main game. Since I typically focus on levelling up Daytime Sonic, this would be when I grind the Werehog so I'm as prepared as I can be. It's a level where you just expect to die, but at least this way you've got the most wiggle room and plenty of lives.
Unlike most unleashed levels, which have certain gimmicks and sonics boost which can help you if you make too many mistakes, if you screw up too many times in eggmanland the game will actually punish you for it, which I love! Adds on a bit of difficulty the game was missing!
I love these unleashed videos they are probably the funniest also by the end of the series are you gonna make another one of those videos where you are sonic but you transform back into yknow reg choc
11:58 you gotta give Eggman credit in Forces he did say, “since you always destroyed the weak spots to my machines, I decided to learn from my mistakes”
I also revisited Sonic Unleashed recently and apparently the younger version of me completed all the chilli-dog vendor missions in Eggmanland (bonus objectives that require you to not die once and get to the end of the level). Yeah, I still don't get how I did that. My younger self must have been an Unleashed fanatic lol
You know, considering how many times over the years that we've collectively died to Robotnic/Eggman's traps in these games i think that if the Diabolical Doctor knew that Sonic had an other-dimensional being able to turn back the clock every time he died and try again he'd be proud of how well he did...and then he'd start planning a dimensional jump to kill us all so he can finally get rid of Sonic.
Dude, I remembered the first time I played Eggmanland as a kid, I ended up farming a lot of lives as I tried to get S ranks on other stages and I got to eggman land with almost 90 lives. By the end of it, I had 40 lives left and 3 hours on the timer

Thank you so much for what you do, and for playing this gem.
You know this level gonna be crazy when you got a statue of Eggman doing the sieg heil right before you enter.
Ahhh so happy you beat this game one of my favorite childhood games. Can’t wait to see what you play next thanks for the content
I don't think there was ever a level in any game that gave me as much frustration as Eggmanland. I remember stocking over at least 30 lives for it, using a good chunk of them, and screaming something like "FINALLY! UP YOURS!" when I finally cleared it.
Finally, Eggman's dream has come true! (For a few minutes)
My favorite Sonic Game. Best level design. Best OST. Best story. No game has more charm. I felt every bit of passion. Thanks, Sonic Team.
about the big Gaia guys: I've heard that when you're knocked back and they do their radial shockwave attack, it's actually better to *not* immediately try to get back. Because when you're in the knocked-out state, the radial shockwave moves over Sonic without damaging him.
Or so i've heard, somewhere.
I SEE IT, I SEE IT NOW
Endless Possibilities is the one video game song that will make me cry from the amount of STRAIGHT GAS pumping in that beat
I really appreciate you letting the credits play out for a minute, i struggled so much to beat dark gaia as a kid and this has gotta be my favorite sonic game
0:04 “looks like a fun theme park” he says………..yeah……….fun……..
What What I love about this level is that it feels like Eggman going all out harder than he's ever done. Even moreso than the Death Egg.
Congratulations on your B rank on Eggmanland. That bumped your grades high enough to graduate~
Your SpongeBob references are always so specific and perfectly used, mad respect fellow spongehead
having not seen the ending of unleashed in a long while, i genuinely held back tears until endless possibility started playing
the story this game had was so good man
My favorite Sonic game for a reason. Everything(besides frame drops) was fantastic imo. Thanks for the awesome playthrough!
I’m not a die-hard Sonic fan, but I’ve played this game during my childhood. It’s such a great game honestly. I should definitely replay it one day.
I like how choc completely forgets colors exist
Just like how Sega forget their were other characters playable besides Sonic for 17 years.
@@amari648 Sonic Boom.
@@pinhe4d321doesn’t exist to me and it’s not canon 😂
@@amari648 It was decent to me ngl
@@pinhe4d321 well at least you liked it. I’m glad they made Amy, Knuckles and Taiks playable again in Frontiers.

LMFAOOOOOO STOPPPPPP
@@snekgewehr "It's no use! This will end it!"
This is just my favorite Sonic Game of all time. For me, this can't be topped, as it was part of my childhood and growing even.
Thank you so much for playing it. 💙✨
Just a heads up
Once you get knocked down by the Titan shockwave as the Werehog, you can actually just wait on the ground and stay invincible until you decide to press A to get up again.
Your username checks out for advice like this.
As much as eggmanland is a pain I can’t lie the egg dragoon theme slaps everytime.
I bought this game twice, the Wii version and the PS3 version and to this day Unleashed still remains as one of my top favorites. Nothing beats the rush of adrenaline with the Dark Gaia boss battle
say all you want about this stage being a weekend's worth of energy drinks and sadness to get through, the music is really good
Wait, I just realized, did you ever turn back to normal after literally becoming Sonic at the beginning of this series? We never saw the conclusion to that, so now I'm curious.

The question now is, what game do we bully Choc into playing next?
Exactly what I came to the comments for. I mean I know he's had to play them, but Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, I personally just want the supercut library to be complete
Frontiers
@@andrewwolfe5479 I think he did already play Frontiers base game, but you're right we need the final DLC asap
The Wii version
i sadly havent played the game yet but its looks like its gonna be one of my favorites! Also Chip is criminally underrated
It's a good game for sure
All the cutscenes in this game still hold up super well, makes since as this suppose to be THE final sonic game originally
This to this day is my absolute favorite game that I have played I love the voice cast and the story and my goodness the gameplay is chef’s kiss 🤌🏽
Weirdly, the Wii/PS2 version of the final boss is way better. You get to play Punch-out as the Gaia Temple then actually fight Dark Gaia directly.
I prefer that than mashing the x button 60 times
this was amazing. The game and the commentary. PERFECT.
(I didn't mind losing, I'd get to grind on the day stages)
It took us like a month to beat the last part of the game, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
@@cheetahofthewind13 the ps2 version of the game is harder overall to me. The final boss too since it was kinda rough to play
i recently saw a video where someone was trying to get a "platinum badge" for this game, which mean getting EVERY other badge.
the hardest one, by far, is completing all the challenges given to you by a Chili Dog Vendor.
one of those challenges requires you to beat this level in 15 minutes...
*WITHOUT LOSING A SINGLE LIFE* !!!!!
This has been a ride, for sure. Awesome lets play. :)
15:11 "oh no, my puberty. HE TAKING IT AWAY!!!!"
Why doez this have no likes 😂
Unlike most unleashed levels, which have certain gimmicks and sonics boost which can help you if you make too many mistakes, if you screw up too many times in eggmanland the game will actually punish you for it, which I love! Adds on a bit of difficulty the game was missing!
1:36
Choc: Come here. *grabs robot* see ya! *chucks robot off the stage*
Fred: My leg!
I remember this stage far too well. Engraved into my mind.
This level is the epitome of:
“Oh, you played unleashed?”
“HERES YOUR TRUE TEST.”
9:41 there is as long as you don't press A
You know you can press the block button inbetween attacks as the werehog, so you can cancel into other combos with ease
Let's see a Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 Duology from ya Choc! It'll be great to see you relive some of your childhood games like those!
I saw the title. For an instant, I did not really process it. Then, I was ripped back in time. Eggmanland.
This place. THIS PLACE.
For the longest time I never realized that Chaos city from sonic prime looked like eggmanland
Choc: "If I got anything but an E rank I'll be... WHAT?!"
Me: That was my reaction when i shockingly got an A rank.
Can't wait for Choc to get back and do the Frontiers update 3.
Dude, I remembered the first time I played Eggmanland as a kid, I ended up farming a lot of lives as I tried to get S ranks on other stages and I got to eggman land with almost 90 lives.
By the end of it, I had 40 lives left and 3 hours on the timer
Choc is gonna have a FUN time with sonic frontiers'final horizon update...
If you know, you know...
1:37 had me dead. MY LEG
Now imagine playing the whole level with a time limit and you can’t die a single time.
Tbf the timelimit was never the issue. Just not dying was
9:25 This is just the '06 Silver bossfight loop
