    Hello! I know cars like the Corolla don't get a lot of love on the inter-webs, but this really is a great car. It drives well, gets great gas mileage, and historically is incredibly reliable. Anyway, hope you're having a good day! Let me know your honest thoughts on the Corolla. Cheers!

    Switching up my 2013 Accord with leather seats, power button start, heated seats, blind spot monitoring and sunroof for an '18 Corolla LE. It's not near as luxurious, but my Corolla only has 39k miles vs the Accord that has 170k miles. I've wanted something more minimalist, and the Corolla is definitely it! I don't need all the extra add-ons, and I'm also not as worried about getting the Corolla scratched up 😂 Paid $10k cash for my Corolla because a couple computer lights are on, and it needs to be detailed. A STEAL!! I am very happy with this purchase, and ready to get the most use out of my Corolla for the years to come!

    I drive a 1997 Corolla and Toyota is still using similar if not the same switch gear in new cars. If it ain't broke don't fix it is pretty much their mantra. The 2017 is #1 on my list of cars that I'll probably get next. Reliability and safety are #1 to me, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and radar cruise control are huge pluses in my book.

  • @djkenny1202

    After a year of research and contemplation, I narrowed my next 20 year future car to a Toyota. I let someone else take the depreciation and just waited until I found a solid value in a stick shift Scion XB, last model 2015 year. Only 30k miles. 11 grand total. Even still has about a year and a half of powertrain warranty and 20k. For Toyota miles, that is like a day of use.
    There’s something about just “knowing” if basic maintenance is taken care of, I’ll drive this to 300k with likely not much more than a fuel pump failing, or a clutch.
    3 year old manual Japanese cars are a good bet, Toyota/Scion no exception.

      I don't think that is a great deal for a 5 year old car honestly, I recently bought a Used Toyota Certified 2019 Toyota Carolla with exactly 10,000 miles for $15,200 Keep in mind I paid the dealer Sticker price I could have probably talked the dealer down from that $15,200 but it was already priced so well that I just took it.

    • @djkenny1202
      @djkenny1202 4 роки тому +2

      $10,400 for a 2015 with 32k miles is below fair market value by a couple grand. Unless you know someone in the auction business, you will not find a mere 4 year old Toyota Lease return for so low. The Mirage I considered if going New would already dropped to $6500 with less miles if I bought one new for $10,000. Decent enough deal on the Corolla you bought, but $5000 less $ is significant. It was like New, still is.. and I can sell it pretty easily for $12000 or more. Has 34k miles (I Drive about 2500 miles a year).
      Just a Note; I was offered a brand new iM for $15600 a few months earlier. Basically a sportier more versatile Corolla brand spanken new. The XB was faster with the Camry engine, more interior volume, more interesting.. and I had no desire to spend over $10,000 range, there is better places to put cash than in a car.

    I drive a 2018 Corolla SE with premium package that adds push to start, upgraded 7-inch Entunes screen and sunroof. The only thing I don't like about is the outdated multimedia system called Entunes and it has no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. But the 2020 Corolla has Entunes 3.0 but does have Apple CarPlay and Alexa, but not yet Android Auto.

    Just bought one of these today. Thanks for the review, I'm really hoping it's gonna be a good reliable car. I skipped on the Sentra because of the CVT, did NOT realize the corolla used one too. 🤦🏻‍♂️. But it's a 2019 LE with only 42k miles. Hopefully 200k+ more miles left in it before I need to make my next purchase.

I got it for Uber and decided to keep it even while I got a real Job now. I have this car and my 2008 Lexus IS 250 which I don’t drive as much anymore. Corolla’s gas mileage is superb! Reliability superb too on the Toyota and the Lexus.

    I have been car shopping between Toyota Camrys and Carolla as well as Honda Civic and Accord. I have already test driven the Camry.And Corolla, and so far, the Corolla hands down is for me, it just feels right.. Tomorrow, I will be doing a test drive with the Honda Civic and Accord. I have also been watching all of the reviews on youtube of all four of these cars, and so far, I'm still leaning towards the Corolla. We'll see after the other test drives. I found a very clean inside and outside white exterior and blk interior 2019 Corolla LE for 14,234 with 87kmiles. I think it's a great deal since I have a low 5.99% PAL loan with my credit union. So, with that being said, it would keep my payments well under two hundred dollars for 74 months. Because when you're a senior citizen like me and live on a budget, it's right on target, lol! Happy car shopping, y'all! ☺️

    I still remember my future Brother in law back in 1975 pulling up with his 1975 Silver 4 Door 4 spd. Corolla. It had the deluxe wheel cover and no leg room in the rear. My 2 sisters and I standing at 5’8” tall all of us crammed in the back seat with our long legs on a 90 mile round trip to the Boston Museum of Science. I could not get out of the car because I had No blood circulation in my legs for over 15 minutes and I dreaded the ride back the whole time at the museum,. Frist of all, I absolutely have fallen in love with the 2019 and 2020 Toyota Corolla LE. I would definitely buy this vehicle in the LE Trim. Yes, it has it's Pro's and Con's but in reality it is an Awesome Reliable Car. Here where I live, you don't see a lot of the SE, XSE, The Higher Trims. You only see the LE Trim. I got the 2020 corolla le. I have to say the Engine is a massive improvement compared to my old 96 celica 1.8 liter. It's super smooth riding and easy on the engine mounts. I prefer the supple suspension on the Le vs sport. It's also a narrow car so less door dings and easier parking. I was stuck on getting either that metalic blue or Silver. But chose the Silver with black interior- It looks better when shined up. That blue color turns purpleish in low sunlight. My dealership says change the oil in 10k miles but I think I'll do it sooner - any recommondations on when to do first oil change?

    • @andrew.woolman7449
      @andrew.woolman7449 4 роки тому

      It's been a year, still like your car? Any problems? I'm also stuck between the Blueprint and Silver. People have been complaining that the LE with the old school CVT and engine has sluggish acceleration and is no fun to drive, is that true? LE is 150 pounds lighter than the SE so that should make up somewhat for the difference in horsepower.

    • @brianbaldino3496

      @@andrew.woolman7449 I like the car even more now than a year ago (2020 camry LE - J vin number made in japan). The new models usually come out in march and the first batch are the ones made in Japan - I'd get those... As a single driver no passengers, this is my review: I got 45 miles per gallon driving out 50 miles on the highway once, ideal conditions. No problems, few minor complaints: no lumbar adjustment on the seats (I placed a folded towel and put a seatcover over the two front seats, which you have to do anyway if you want to keep it clean and free from beverage spills). Cloth arm rests get dirty fast, glossy plastic finish around the shifting councel is prone to scratching. Doesn't have android, not that I would use it, Blue tooth works well. I actually brought my family and a friend down to the dealership to decide between the Blue and the Silver. Had the silver and blue parked next to each other and I was really able to see the silver really gleamed compared to the blue. Have a friend you trust help you on the color decision. Took about 700 miles for the CVT to break in a bit. I'll never go back to an automatic. As for acceeration and speed, lets just say I've been getting nightmares for getting a 70mph on a 25mph speed zone. The car is light, It's a peppy car - Ive had moments on the highway where I had to put the pedal down to avoid incoming traffic and it responds immediately without delay. It excels at acceleration once it gets up to speed, even more so than the 2016 camry LE. It only lacks a little horsepower when trying to speed up a very HIlly on- ramp to the highway. Your really getting more bang for your buck with this car cmpared to others in it's class. If your a young guy who never had a nice car get a sports car that you will have to constantly worry about.

    A simple machine for the 21st century. The CVT makes me worry about long-term reliability, because metallurgy isn't fully "there" yet with the metal band teeth in the CVT. Can you make a video about your driving habits and the techniques you use to improve your MPG? You mentioned that you achieve higher actual fuel economy than the EPA estimate for the 2019 Toyota Corolla review. PS- LOVE your videos and detailed reviews,

      Todd McCray i get better fuel economy too than what is estimated. I average 44 miles per gallon in my 2019 Corolla LE. I achieve this through cruise control. Cruise control is very important because it keeps your speed consistent. Driving with your foot you tend to go up and down in speed unknowingly, another thing is I don’t use AC. AC will rob some fuel... another tip is to stay under 2,000 RPMs. On a 70 MPH freeway I go about 65-70, going 70 I remain under 2,000 RPMs. Anything above this and your eco mode shuts off, which lowers your miles per gallon... just drive the car like it’s a fuel economy car and not a sports car and everything should work out. Made a trip from Detroit Michigan to Louisville Kentucky today, drove 4 hours 15 minutes only using half my tank.. Good luck

    Is there a hybrid version of this

    • @100RentalCars
      @100RentalCars  5 років тому

      I know! I saw it on Toyota's website while I was doing a bit of research for my review. The new Hybrid gets crazy good mileage too. I'm guessing that will quickly become one of their top sellers. I know I'd consider buying one.

    I have a 2019 Corolla LE and I don't like the car very much. One major thing I don't like, and if I can be brutally honest here, I absolutely HATE the CVT transmission. You can't feel the acceleration, the shifting gears, or the deceleration. Not a big fan of the adaptive cruise control either, but it comes in handy on the long trips. I can honestly say without hesitation that I won't be keeping it very long. Maybe a year...... Two at the most

    The current Corolla Sedan is just average at best, but the Corolla Hatchback is awesome, and I'll bet the 2020 Corolla Sedan is just as awesome as the Corolla Hatchback. Hopefully you'll get the chance to review a 2020 model soon. :) BTW, I'm surprised this one has 20k miles already... WOW... I know it's a rental car, but still for a 2019 :o :o :o

    The CVT is a deal killer for me, I don't care who makes the car! So unresponsive in city driving, unforgivable.

    • @100RentalCars
      @100RentalCars  5 років тому +3

      I kinda felt the same way, until I realized I'd been driving a CVT for years without realizing it. Then again, I prefer good gas mileage over speed, so I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

      @@100RentalCars I believe the CVT setup in the Prius is different because the electric motor gets involved and it gives you instant torque. Every CVT I've driven, has that awful delay when you need to speed up quickly.

      Also Toyota had to recall the new CVT with the traditional first gear for acceleration, due to mechanical issues.

      I’m much more a fan of manual trans, and I think denying the option on the base L was a sad omission since 2016. Only higher end Sport it SE has the 6 speed now. But if I HAD to get a non manual, only CVT I’d really trust is Toyota. I’ve seen Prius models with 500k. Standard automatics with similar. So, I think it will hold up Well. Performance? I don’t think that’s the Buyer mindset.

    Main issue is the lethargic off the line performance since the engine has weak torque combined with a CVT. If Toyota added the true first gear into the gearbox, such as with the Corolla hatchback, it would perform much better. Else, this has so little power you can't even chirp the tires no matter how hard you try.
