Always love Marshall Tucker! Glad I was a young and 20 year ole teen when they were great! RIP Tommy, Toy and Tim! Great musicians as well as great veterans! ❤️❤️❤️
The lead singer Doug Gray lives here in South Carolina. My dad my brother in-law and I done some home renovations on some of the property homes he owns some years back. After the work was finished he gave us and our family's special VIP passes to their next concert that was happening locally. When we arrived he took us on their tour bus to meet the whole band!! We stood on the side of the stage for the whole concert. A few of us even got to sing this song on stage with the whole band!! This is my most memorable moment from a concert iv been too!!! Heard It In A Love Song is a really great song as well 👍
Yesterday is was frolicking and today it is dipping your toes in nice grass. Jay, you don't have to explain your charming self - you enjoy the out doors. Thanks Amber, Thanks Jay.💜
Living not far from Spartanburg SC, i had the pleasure of talking withToy and reminiscing about our time in Vietnam. On a side note, the Spartanburg chapter of the Marine Corps League is named the Hutchings-Caldwells Detachment in honor of Toy, his brother Tommy and another Marine, Pvt Nolan Ryan Hutchings, who was killed during the Iraq Invasion in 2003.
Yesss! Their best ever. Among other bands such as Poco, Pure Prairie League, early Eagles, etc., The Marshall Tucker Band helped this 70s rocker appreciate country rock back in the day. One of my local FM rock stations played some country rock such as this one, but the country stations wouldn't play this stuff at the time. It wasn't country enough for the country stations, and it was too country for most rock stations. Thanks for doing this. I loved it.
Big fan of Marahall Tucker and Firefall from back then during southern rock of the 70's. I won tickets back in 1998 to see Molly Hatchett, Marshall Tucker and Charlie Daniel's all in one show. So much talent.
Heard it in a Love Song from 1977. Their best known hit, make sure you get the full version that's 5 minutes long -- the shorter 3-minute version is missing an important part.
Ok, to let you know, the lead guitar player, Toy Caldwell, sang "Can't You See". But their main lead singer sang this one. Doug Gray has such a unique voice! No one sounds like him. You will hear more of Doug as you go down this enjoyable rabbit hole. That was Toy on steel guitar and guest Charlie Daniel's on fiddle.
I love the story. I have spent a lot of time in Creede, Colorado. Silver was the attraction there. If you struck silver on your claim, it could very well be the last day of your life.
Oh this group, it was March 31 1981 driving to the hospital to deliver my first child, just knew would be a boy but no named picked. The Marshall Tucker band came on the 8 track and that is when I knew his name would be Marshall😍 Now a father, Pastor and 6'9 tall this music makes me think of him.
Got to see them back in 1980. Really good band. Southern Rock was huge back in the 70's. Next for Marshall Tucker. Take The Highway Heard It In A Love Song This Old Cowboy Ramblin
It was kind of a shock to the ears when this started getting played on Top 40 and Rock stations back in '75. Nothing on Rock radio sounded like this. This is one of the greatest Southern Rock/Country Rock songs ever. I love it, and always will.
That whole album is awesome. The title track "Searching for a Rainbow" is a must. Dickie Betts of The Allman Brothers Band plays guest lead guitar on it.
When I was in high-school we would go camping during all the breaks. Our spot was about a hundred mile drive. We would jump in my buddy's Bronco and pop this in the eight track and sing to all the way there. Great memories.
How many here know how the band was named? This band from Spartanburg South Carolina was looking for a place to practice. They rented out an old warehouse that a piano tuner had used. They were handed the keys to the place that still had the piano tuners name on it...Marshall Tucker.
"This Ol' Cowboy" is my absolute favorite by this great band. You'll love the solos, as well as the outstanding drumming. "24 Hours at a Time" is also awesome. Enjoy!
I have the damndest time 45 years after discovering the MTB, figuring out which one of "Can't You See" or "Fire on the Mountain" is my favorite. I hear both of them 4 or 5 times a week in my regular playlist. Almost every single time one of them plays, I will hit the "back" button at least one time (if not more).
Finally another Marshall Tucker Band song....THANK YOU!!! Yes, I'm a Tuckerhead and appreciate any song you play by them! A call out to Paul Riddle on drums and Jerry Eubanks on the flute (and saxophone when the song calls for it). and Spartanburg, S. C. from where they came!
That song was recorded right here at Capricorn Records Macon Georgia {Allman Brothers, Lil Richard, Otis Redding} where southern rock started & all the greats came in the late '60s, '70s & '80s ✌💖☮
@@mrmark5595 Love Muscle Shoals as well, lived near there at Pickwick Dam Tn on the Tenn River for 20 yrs 1997-2017 {just moved back to Georgia} & been to a lot of the music fests there such as WC Handy & a couple of other jam fests! I lived in Georgia since '73 & remember seeing the Allmans, Charlie Daniels, Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Black Oak Arkansas, Elvin Bishop, Delbert McClinton, Wet Willie & so many others here! you guys have just scratched the surface. must try more. Everyday I have the Blues (live). 24 hours at a time. Ramblin on my mind. Southern Woman. This Ole Cowboy. so many good ones....
ROB SQUAD I'M GLAD YOU'RE GETTING BACK TO MARSHALL TUCKER BAND!! THE SONG THAT YOU PICKED TODAY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!❤ THE ALBUM CAROLINA DREAMS WHICH I BELIEVE THIS SONG IS FROM IS JUST FIRE FROM START TO FINISH!! I'D LIKE TO RECOMMEND, "I SHOULD HAVE NEVER STARTED LOVING YOU!" IT'S A BEAUTIFUL BALLOT THAT HAS SOME HORNS IN IT AND I THINK YOU GUYS WILL BOTH LOVE IT!!! IT WAS ONE THAT I WOULD PLAY OVER AND OVER AGAIN BACK IN THE DAY!!❤❤
Really love listening and watching you guys hear the music that I grew up on and like it as much as I do I've been waiting on this one since the first Marshall Tucker Band reaction. Thanks for what you do it's fun
Started in 1973 and did some good music genre was country / southern rock band. This track from the album Searchin' for a Rainbow - and only hit 38 in billboard in 1975. In 1976 "Searchin' For A Rainbow" from the same album was billboard number 4. The band has not folded and still tour today but they have had many members.
Being born in the mid 60s and raised in the South back in the 70s and 80s, Southern Rock has always been my favorite type of Rock. The elements of Country, Blues and Rock blended together were amazing. They all had different styles but were great at what they did. The Allman Brothers were heavy on the Blues side, Molly Hatchet on the Rock Side, Marshall Tucker on the Country side and Skynyrd did a bit of everything! Love all of it!
Heard It In a Love Song is my favorite Marshall Tucker Band song. This Ol' Cowboy is also great, and Long Hard Ride is a Bluegrass feeling Country instrumental that shows off the Musicianship of the band. Too Stubborn, a country blues tune, should also be on the list of their songs that shouldn't be missed
There was a time when music was just music and then came along southern rock and that did it for me when I was up and I never really cared about anything else again the southern rock was awesome. It still is Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd 38 special on and on even black Oak Arkansas. ! 😂
I saw them live at one of the best concerts I’d ever been to. Saw them, Eagles, Black Oak Arkansas, The Outlaws, 38 Special, the Kentucky Headhunters, etc. in 1976 or 77 at the Cincinnati River Jam! Great Music!
MTB combined rock, country, blues and jazz into a unique sound. Excellent musicianship. Doug Gray on vocals, Toy Caldwell on steel guitar, Jerry Eubanks on flute and special guest Charlie Daniels on fiddle.
Jay there is nothing wrong with loving a nice lawn. I too like the feel of good grass. I taught my granddaughter about good grass when she was little. haha
