I'm a new subscriber after seeing this posting! Question...does this recipe work like chalk paint? Can you distress and use colored waxes for effects? Is this something that you've tried? Either way, I am going to definitely be trying out this recipe. Thank you so much 👍
Traditionally, chalkboard chalk was made from calcium carbonate. Today, most is made up mostly of gypsum, so it probably wouldn't work the same. Great info and we are going to try this!
I started painting when I was 14 for a construction company. Back in the old days..lol. When we painted cabinets this is the recipe that the old painter gave me and I have used it for many years. He used athletic field marking chalk he got at the sports store or ace. Long before Annie was a thing. That stuff was solid as a rock. I use this on all my furniture I flip and sell and paint for a living, so yes, I can totally verify this is a tried and true method. I am so glad you shared this. It saves tons of money and I've never been happier with a finish. I've tried some of the name brands and they are good, but im thrifty and I can make gallons compared to small containers price wise. I've used this with all sheens of paint and brands, because I'm an oops user too! Thanks for sharing. You rock!!
thank you for sharing knowledge...it seems to me so ridiculous to pay 35 dollars for a quarter of paint just because is chalk paint or mineral paint...come on...right?
Lowes sells a clear primer called Kilz Klear, that would work great for the darker colored paints. Thanks for experimenting with the formula so we don’t have to!
Great video with amazing information, thank you! If you buy your paint from Home Depot and possibly Lowes, ask for a duplicate label of your paint (they can scan the little round custom paint label as long as the bar code is fully visible). Then you can put the duplicate label on the bottom of your "1 step paint" jar in case you need more. I always suggest that my customers put these on the back of switch plates, sides of cabinet drawers, etc for future reference.

As a kid, about 50 years ago, lived in a new development where there was continual building of houses going on. We would take the scrap sheet rock out of the trash piles, peel off the paper and use it for ALL the art supplies - chunks for sidewalk chalk, or crushed and mixed it with lots of water for a thick white paint or just a bit of water for “clay” . Lots of good memories! And hopefully nothing toxic in it.

I have used Baking Soda in my paint to create a chalk paint then wax over it. When sanding, it takes some elbow grease to get that distressed look, but, has worked every time. Love this video, another new method to try. Thank you for sharing.

Looking forward to trying this recipe. I used to work at Lowe’s in the paint department so I would snag any paint I liked the color of. I probably have 30 gallons of paint in my shop. 🤷♀️
I've never painted for a living but I've done a lot of painting for myself and my house. I came up with the idea of the paintbrush then the clean roller on my own.....I did 'crackle' using glue and a blow dryer which looked so natural....I do like your mixing paint with equal parts of varathane as I've struggled with a good finish the old way and I can't wait to use your way. I love to use drywall compound to get an Italian villa like finish on my walls....it is so fun to do. I've made my own stencils and used this mud on walls and doors. My latest -- I used my crochet doilies as stencils and did my kitchen panty door.
I actually did this ( before seeing your video) because I was lazy didn’t want to do 2 steps so o mixed my chalk paint with primer for a sure grip on a vintage sewing machine cabinet! Then covered with matte polycrylic! ;) ty. I bought a 50 lb bag of chalk powder thinking I was going to do this Fultime flipping furniture but locals are too poor to pay. Now I have a ton of that powder!

I love that you are sharing this idea. I've been tempted to try. I do mix my own colors from behr sample paints. I mostly sew bit newish to other crafting. Ice tries painting ball jars in separate steps but our weird climate ranges one day too dry to next too humid. I can't get it to stick even prepping with a top coat or cleaning with alcohol. I also don't want to spend time waiting for paint to dry to go to next step. I have made my own chalk paint. I looked up what chalk was first. So chalk is mainly two ingredients in nature. Calcium and something else. Except Plaster of Paris has 3 and only found outside of Paris. It hardens more and why was used for casts. But any calcium product is supposed to work. I used powder plaster patch. But the article I read said to find the one with the fewest additives. So I did. It worked pretty good.
Any paint mixed with plaster already mixed with water will make chalk paint. I prefer premixed plaster. It also works as a great primer. Try it out. You'll love it. The plaster only lightens the color a touch
Gonna try this one step paint. I make my own chalk paint occasionally already for my furniture projects. Gonna need to try this paint recipe now. Save time and money 💰 awesome thanx again
Im back again rewatching for 3rd time I think. Not copied out there yet! I haven't had big enough projects to mix this yet but I do now. I am adding furniture make over to my sewing skills. Im glad there is also other paints mostly made by women in business for themselves but Im a "lets see if I can make it" person too! I dont buy dollar tree items to do hacks. Even sewing I make up my own designs. If it gets to the point I am posting or talking about this I will credit back to this video! I had thought it could be done. I mix my own colors from Behr sample paint. Thanks so much for sharing this!
u r so humble...i found that many so call "flippers" are so full of themselves that oh Lord do not dare to give them advice (they reply that they have not asked for it)...or comment saying "i do not like the color"...or "it is not my cup of tea" if you do u will have the badge of "Negative" LOLOLOL Funny because some of those "full of themselves" asked in their videos to "please leave a comment of what u think" LOLOLOLOL but i guess they expect only praise ...kiss ass comments LOLOL So i found so refreshing that u are willing to learn from others and have fun with...for me that is the best way to learn and it won't cost u anything....Recipe is fun...
I mixed up this recipe this week and gave it a try. I really, Really, REALLY like this mixture! The consistency is awesome with a smooth finish. It also has great coverage and I only had to use two coats. Thank you so much! I also used your whisk broom technique this week on another piece and it’s amazing too! Adding both to my furniture flipping arsenal! THANK YOU!!!
Great idea! I have used calcium bicarbonate from Amazon mixed with flat/matte latex but I have also use Poly Fila Drywall Compound in powdered form and omg! The grip and durability is outstanding. I will definitely try adding primer and top coat as well. Thanks so much for sharing!!! I’m all for making things easier and less time consuming!
@@BrianLisaTanner I did actually. The only thing is I couldn’t blend colours. It’s awesome for just a solid colour but I found I was really struggling to transition to another shade. I did a dresser with the poly fila about 3 yrs ago and it’s still perfect.
I can’t wait to try this one step recipe. I paid $65 for a quart of beyond paint. This looks just as good. I painted my dining room table using your pottery barn “Sausalito” technique and it looks amazing. Thank you!
I am not a fan of Beyond Paint, I do not like the finish of the paint once it dries. And yes, I did sand in between coats with 400 grit sandpaper. It still looks like an orange peel finish and I prefer smooth. I ended up taking my 2nd jar of Beyond Paint back to the store and getting a refund. And it really is expensive.
I absolutely love how you share your secrets with all of us!! I have found Calcium Carbonate at a pottery supply store - I believe those that make pottery use it in the glazes they make?? not sure tho - a giant bag cost me $6 Canadian! I am off to make my own paint :)
When I 1st learned of chopped paint I was gonna make my own and I didn't have any chalk powder so I bought a Box of chalk and Mixed it with my paint and it worked great you just have to make sure to get your powder ground fine enough.
This idea was created in Yecapixtla Mexico I'm glad you learning and share a traditional knowledge. Use baba nopal (cactus) too. Use polvo gis (charcoal) Use Clara huevo (egg white) .
I agree with Kathleen below. I worked at Home Depot Paint Department for about 13 yrs and I worked with a bunch of older men who had been painting contractors for many years and they told me about tricks to make paint very durable if it was for kitchen or bath cabinets. Some told me about athletic field marking chalk, calcium carbonate and even plaster of Paris. I did try some recipes using the FREE (for Home Depot paint department employees) OOPS paint many times. It works. Now can you corner the market with this paint recipe? I would try. Annie Sloane cornered the chalk paint market. Dixie Belle's SILK ALL in ONE Paint may be what it is you came up with. DB has primer and topcoat as well. It is RESIN based from what I understand.
Oh wow forgot that I have a chalk line plus refill and use red chalk powder and I have red paint I wana use this recipe for. Hmm! But isn’t this just to make paint stick? It’s not to make actual chalk paint right?
I just came across your video & was glad to see someone who uses calcium carbonate for making their chalk paint. I decided to dabble in making chalk paint about 7 years ago. I didnt like the plaster of paris or unsanded grout mixes especially the sanding process. I thought if its called chalk paint then the bonding ingredient should be chalk. I made about 5 very small batches until I decided on the right amount. Ive been using it every since then. ❤
Thank you for the recipe to create your own one step paint. It sounds like you have a winner! I also have a jar of this product to create chalk paint I haven’t used, so I can’t wait to try it out. Thanks!
Can anyone testify of the long term durability of this mixture? Or it would be rwally awesome Shannon if you could do a video with previous projects that you used this on and how they have held up ❤ id love to try this!!
I have a big bag of food grade diatomaceous earth that i started using to make chalk paint. I looked up a recipe online that uses it and it works great if you dont have calcium carbonate or plaster of paris on hand.
I’m so glad I happened onto this video! I love mixing and making my own paint colors. If this saves me money, I’m gonna implement it! I’m an “Oops paint kinda girl 💯!Thanks, thanx and more thanks!
I am so excited to give this a try! Horray I will post before and after pictures after I get it done!!!
This is cool that your doing this. I actually came up with a little recipe of my own for a great all in one paint. Same top coat but I used a paint and primer combo. I've never measured it when I mix it to use. I'll add baking soda, sea salt, ex. What ever texture I need at the time. I have to try this. Pretty cool. Also I have actually mixed some chalk paint and top coat to fix a bleed through when I was adding blending on top of that color but didn't have much top coat at the time I was working on that piece. Lol. But I got more later. 😆 I'm going to try this recipe. ❤
Oooooo…good golly miss Shannon. I have a cabinet I want to buy but it’s so expensive. I’m going to hunt a free or thrifted version just so I can paint it myself with your recipe. I think you should create either an ebook or a real paperback…or a cute T-shirt with this recipe on it. 😉 🖌👩🏻🎤 GRACIAS CHICA 💕
@@WritingPursuits You just have to make sure to overlapp it all around from the top and press it down well. The can itself I first wrap with cling film, which I let overhang slightly over both edges. Then I fix the foil at the bottom and top with painter's masking tape.

Hi, Thank you for sharing, it look amazing when you applied it. I have 2 questions please: since I have plenty of acrylic paint, can I use in this recipe? Can I blend these colours, since it has additions, I thought this might interfere in the process? Thank you in advance for your reply and time. Best wishes.
Hey Lexi! I got a can of acrylic paint and was wondering if i can mix it up with plaster of paris?! You think it will it work?! Do you use the same 1:3 ratio?
@@reliveadream yes on the acrylic. For the pOp, I usually use three tbsp to 1/3-1/2 cup of water; mix water & pOp together first. Add to pint of paint then I add 1/3-1/2 cup minwax top coat, depending on what I’d be painting:)
OmGoodnes!! Are you Serious??! Have you painted many pieces with this recipe? Would you have them on Instagram or be able to mention which pieces we could look at to see all of the results? 😱🤗 Thank you for this! Can’t wait to try!
This looks like a MUCH better recipe than the old chalk paint recipes plus you can buy the calcium carbonate at HD in cartons I think in the paint section.
Shannon that’s awesome! I make my own chalk paint using that very calcium carbonate you’re using, but I poly coat afterwards. The cocktail of primer and polyurethane sounds like a game changer! Now the million dollar question is: does it stand up to bleeding woods??? Also when you finish your blue table let us know how does the dark blue shows scuffs when you scratch it. Thanks so much! 💕
Snacking self on forehead. Why didn't I think of that.😊 When you were mixing the calcium carbonate, it made me think if 'goop' from PreK teaching days. Made with water and cornstarch.🤭
Adding another comment as I'm rewatching ths video. I do buy behr samples for crafting. The containers are plastic though. I put a rock in it. Shake it. I keep in there. Our retirement home has lots of rocks in yard. I pick out granite ones as heaviest for size. I've not put in glass. Or large beads?
I love that you experiment and do your own tests. Can you talk more about the advantages of this recipe? Does it flow better, just eliminate applying a top coat, or something else? Any disadvantages?
Eliminates the need to prime mostly, but I’ve found recently that hgtv paint from lowes, the ovation one, sticks extremely well on non sanded surfaces without priming so I’ve been using that mostly. But I always pick up the Behr oops paints from Home Depot or if I have any cheap wall paint and I use this recipe for those. The primer does change the color a bit lighter so that is a disadvantage.
Hi, I've noticed a dark tinted primer at Home Depot. It is actually a deeper gray color. Perhaps one could use that when making a one step blend with a dark color - - especially black.
Shannon this IS revolutionary. I'm stoked to try it. I had one question....do you ever add water? And your paint cabinet is very aesthetic and organized. But I loved that you showed your work table and drawers. : ) That is much more like what I have going on. Would it work with black paint if you omitted the primer but still mixed the clear coat?
I have learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us. I try the wood finish look on laminate table and people cannot believe is not wood. Is one of my favorite flips.
Quick questions: 1) how long does the paint last? 2) is calcium carbonate better than using plaster of Paris as others do? 3)do you need to use a strainer if the paint isn’t old? Thank you!!!!!
Great video - thanks for the receipe! Can't wait to try it! I'm wondering if you could do this with chalk paint (without adding the calcium carbonate of course) to avoid having to wax or seal like you normally have to. Have you tried adding poly & primer to chalk paint with success?
I’m not sure if it’ll work, but the chalk that climbers use comes in powder form. It is magnesium carbonate rather than calcium carbonate. Sometimes there are larger chunks, but they’re easy to crush up. Might be worth a try!
Just love the idea of being able to buy the oops paints and using your hacks wish i knew of this 3yrs ago could of saved lots of money its the weekend for me so home depot and lowes i am on my way

Hey Miss Molly! I have done the recipe with anything from 1 parts paint up to 2 parts paint and the 1 parts paint is stronger against scratches. The official recipe I shoot for is 1/1/1 and 1/4 cup Chalk powder 1/8 cup paint but I may have been a little pouring happy in the video 😆
@@blacksheephouse It looks like you used 1/4 cup of calcium carbonate and 1/8 cup of WATER not PAINT. Which is correct? Thank uou.
@@saraaustin4240 ..she has to dissolve the calcium carbonate first, by mixing it with a small amount of water, she says that in the video.
@@celeste-236Luke warm water will help it dissolve more quickly/thoroughly. It's always funny reading the comments and seeing how many apparently weren't listening. It's refreshing to see some people actually do!
I have been wanting to try this! I can't see paying the exorbitant price for a small jar of chalk paint. Thank you for sharing!!
I loved fusion mineral paint but feel the same! I’m sooo frugal 😭
First of all thank you....
Take ordinary chalk, put it in a CHEAP multi and turn into powder , it's EXACTLY the same as the bought stuff , I also bought a small sieve and put the powder through as an extra precaution ....Greetings from Athens, Greece
A cheap what?
@@insatiableivy Yeah, I was wondering what they meant too.
@@insatiableivy a cheap processor or spice grinder .....break the chalk up into smaller pieces and grind it up ....by putting it through a sieve your making sure that you're getting the powder only....
I bet a coffee bean grinder will work great. And you can get a cheap one at Walmart. Can't wait to try out these ideas !!
What does the chalk do to the paint? What is the purpose of using it?
I only flip furniture from late March-early October. I usually buy cheap/clearance paint in the winter to stock up. I’m TOTALLY going to try this on my first piece this year. Thanks for this! Can’t wait!
Couldn’t hit that subscribe button any quicker 😂 wow this is fab thank you for sharing I’m all about finding my own recipes I spend as much time researching as I do actual painting 🙈 cannot wait to try it ✨
I just made your one step paint and I am so excited.. I did a test on an old door , ands no chips and a very smooth finish...thank you so much
YAA!!!
What exactly was your recipe as far as quantity of paint, primer and topcoat? Thank you.
I have used Baking Soda in my paint to create a chalk paint then wax over it. When sanding, it takes some elbow grease to get that distressed look, but, has worked every time. Love this video, another new method to try. Thank you for sharing.
Yes I am the female black sheep in my family 😝🐑! I love the way you think! So grateful you took the effort & time to blend the right mix. And then sharing it with us❗️What a doll you are😻
Looking forward to trying this recipe. I used to work at Lowe’s in the paint department so I would snag any paint I liked the color of. I probably have 30 gallons of paint in my shop. 🤷♀️
Awesome! That’s a lot of paint 👏 ❤️
I order calcium carbonate, but I honestly prefer plaster paris when making DIY paint. Love that you combined primer, paint and sealer. ♥️
Good to know! ❤️
May I ask what measurements you use, primer, paint sealer?
Plaster of Paris I guess I meant
Mix 2.5 Tablespoons with 1.5 Tablespoons of warm water until there are no lumps. Add 8 oz of paint and stir well.
I have plaster of Paris on hand. If I use that will it turn the paint into chalk paint where I can paint without sanding?
I actually did this ( before seeing your video) because I was lazy didn’t want to do 2 steps so o mixed my chalk paint with primer for a sure grip on a vintage sewing machine cabinet! Then covered with matte polycrylic! ;) ty. I bought a 50 lb bag of chalk powder thinking I was going to do this Fultime flipping furniture but locals are too poor to pay. Now I have a ton of that powder!
LOLOL that proves that genius think alike LOLOL...we use our brain and solve problems...instead of paying $$$$$$ for a quarter of paint...
❤️
Thanks for sharing!!! If you don’t care for the standard metal Bell jar lids, try the lids of food jars to see if they’re a fit. I recycle the lids of my Dukes mayonnaise because they fit the mason jars I buy.
Great tip!
I buy the plastic wide mouth jar lids from walmart, roughly $3 for 8 of them.
A plastic parmesan cover fits great on a Mason jar too.
Fantastic tip on the mayonnaise lids, and here I’ve been throwing them out, you can also watch the jar providing its a glass jar and use it for making the paint mixture
Another common lid that fits regular canning jars are plastic lids from inexpensive plastic peanut butter jars.
I used your paint recipe and I love it. I will never buy chalk paint again. Thank you so much for your videos.
Omg just found this video!! THANK YOU!! I was just looking at one of the new popular cottage colors with the built in sealer...so expensive!!! I was like there has got to be a way to make this myself!!! And there you were!!!❤❤❤❤
This is my first time watching your channel. So far I'm really into your connect! Love the voice over, and NO STUPID YT "mwabamwaba" electronic music...man, I hate that music so much! Appreciate the real life, unedited vocal direction. You've got great screen presence. Thank you for sharing.

Girl you are killing it. Amazing
Gracias por el tutorial me ha fascinado
u r so humble...i found that many so call "flippers" are so full of themselves that oh Lord do not dare to give them advice (they reply that they have not asked for it)...or comment saying "i do not like the color"...or "it is not my cup of tea" if you do u will have the badge of "Negative" LOLOLOL Funny because some of those "full of themselves" asked in their videos to "please leave a comment of what u think" LOLOLOLOL but i guess they expect only praise ...kiss ass comments LOLOL So i found so refreshing that u are willing to learn from others and have fun with...for me that is the best way to learn and it won't cost u anything....Recipe is fun...
Totally agree!
I've made my own chalk paints for years. I use plaster of Paris. Lasts for years and works great! Thanks for the recipe!
I was just going to ask about this. I’ve heard plaster of Paris is a chalk paint hack
What is the wisk broom technique?
@@lindah120 watch her bedroom makeover video. She uses that technique on her bedside tables.
Do you think the drywall compound was more durable?
@@BrianLisaTanner I did actually. The only thing is I couldn’t blend colours. It’s awesome for just a solid colour but I found I was really struggling to transition to another shade. I did a dresser with the poly fila about 3 yrs ago and it’s still perfect.
@@ajtcaps can you please tell me how much compound powder you used in reference to this recipe. 1/1/1 a'd compound?
I can’t wait to try this one step recipe. I paid $65 for a quart of beyond paint. This looks just as good. I painted my dining room table using your pottery barn “Sausalito” technique and it looks amazing. Thank you!
I did the same same thing! Looks amazing also❤️
I’ve also done a set of nightstands on Shannon’s Sausalito and sold them for asking price!! It’s a gorgeous finish!!
God bless you Shannon!!
So glad to hear that!!! Thanks guys ❤️❤️❤️
What is the Sausalito technique?
Thank you for this recipe! I have just the piece to use it on. I love how you laugh at random things.
Good to know!!
Now I know why I did not painted my furniture . I was waiting for this video. Thanks so much.!!!
Yes. It will definitely be life changing for me. I've been watching you for a long time now, but somehow missed this one. 👏 👏 👏
This idea was created in Yecapixtla Mexico I'm glad you learning and share a traditional knowledge.
Use baba nopal (cactus)
too.
WOW,,YOUR TEACHING STYLE IS AMAZING,,,,, SO SIMPLE AND DIRECT!! THANK YOU FOR THIS EXCELLENT TUTORIAL..GOD BLESS 🙏💗
I made this for a little pantry my dad gave me. It came out beautiful. I just picked up some oops paint from Home Depot, and made the recipe. Perfect!
Thank you for the recipe to create your own one step paint. It sounds like you have a winner! I also have a jar of this product to create chalk paint I haven’t used, so I can’t wait to try it out. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing and I can hardly wait to try it! I also love “Oops” paint. 😃
I just love you 🥰. I love how you selflessly share your ideas with us! Thank you 😊
I use baby powder and it is awesome and works wonderful.
Can anyone testify of the long term durability of this mixture? Or it would be rwally awesome Shannon if you could do a video with previous projects that you used this on and how they have held up ❤ id love to try this!!
Thank you so much for sharing. Can I use this with paint sprayer? Thank you
I have a big bag of food grade diatomaceous earth that i started using to make chalk paint. I looked up a recipe online that uses it and it works great if you dont have calcium carbonate or plaster of paris on hand.
Thank you, I was wondering if that would work too!!!! I will definitely try it
I’m so glad I happened onto this video! I love mixing and making my own paint colors. If this saves me money, I’m gonna implement it! I’m an “Oops paint kinda girl 💯!Thanks, thanx and more thanks!
I am so excited to give this a try!
I have a very small kitchen and been waiting to paint the cabinets white and although my kitchen is tiny, I have been putting it off because of the work involved, but bit after watching this video I believe I’m going to going to pull the plug and get it going… your method cuts the job time by more then half!!! Horray I will post before and after pictures after I get it done!!!
❤️
This is cool that your doing this. I actually came up with a little recipe of my own for a great all in one paint. Same top coat but I used a paint and primer combo. I've never measured it when I mix it to use. I'll add baking soda, sea salt, ex. What ever texture I need at the time. I have to try this. Pretty cool. Also I have actually mixed some chalk paint and top coat to fix a bleed through when I was adding blending on top of that color but didn't have much top coat at the time I was working on that piece. Lol. But I got more later. 😆
I'm going to try this recipe. ❤
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your recipe.!!!
Maybe for the darker colors dont add the primer and make is 2 step paint? I will have to try.
Hi Shannon, nice video. A tip: To avoid paint nibs on the can, I tape the edges of the can with painter's masking tape.
This is a really great tip. I don’t like messy cans.
@@WritingPursuits
You just have to make sure to overlapp it all around from the top and press it down well.
The can itself I first wrap with cling film, which I let overhang slightly over both edges. Then I fix the foil at the bottom and top with painter's masking tape.
Honestly, u are beyond sweet sharing this!!! The chalk paint is soo xpensive. This is a blessing!! All the hugs 🤗

Hi,
Thank you for sharing, it look amazing when you applied it.
I have 2 questions please: since I have plenty of acrylic paint, can I use in this recipe?
Can I blend these colours, since it has additions, I thought this might interfere in the process?
Thank you in advance for your reply and time.
Best wishes.
Awesome question, curious too.
I’ve been doing this for two years now. Everyone thought I was crazy! Yay, another artist confirms- I’m not!!! Lol
PS, I use plaster of Paris.

I use whitening (Cheap) and equal part of gesso...that will make the paint look chalky...sands smooth and stay in place pretty well...
I hope you try it!
PS: I love the logo!! Keep it!!
Snacking self on forehead. Why didn't I think of that.😊
When you were mixing the calcium carbonate, it made me think if 'goop' from PreK teaching days.
I have been painting for years and so glad to learn about your 1 paint
Ooh!! I need to look for that!
I’d love to see a video of how the mixture turned out should you use the darker primer.
I have light grey and white for bin 123 you can get black and red in regular rustoleum pre colored. I got it n the sprays painters touch x2
Such a great idea and absolutely a huge time saver !!! You are awesome 😎
Exactly what i want to know
I have learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us. I try the wood finish look on laminate table and people cannot believe is not wood. Is one of my favorite flips.
Could you use shellac based primer to work for both primer and topcoat?
Quick questions: 1) how long does the paint last? 2) is calcium carbonate better than using plaster of Paris as others do? 3)do you need to use a strainer if the paint isn’t old? Thank you!!!!!
How long is the paint good for
Life changing is not an exaggeration!! Awesome!!
Great video - thanks for the receipe! Can't wait to try it! I'm wondering if you could do this with chalk paint (without adding the calcium carbonate of course) to avoid having to wax or seal like you normally have to. Have you tried adding poly & primer to chalk paint with success?
Thank you soooo much for sharing!! I can't wait to try!!!!
Blessings!!!
I’m not sure if it’ll work, but the chalk that climbers use comes in powder form. It is magnesium carbonate rather than calcium carbonate. Sometimes there are larger chunks, but they’re easy to crush up. Might be worth a try!
I can over from "our upcycled life". I've subscribed and looking forward to more.

U can turn your brushes back to normal by coating them in paint stripper.
