I grew up in the 60s and while many of my friends were into the rock and roll on other stations, I was still listening to country music on the radio with my dad. Real country music, with steel guitars and fiddles. Tom is a legend, but boy his son sounds great too.

In my opinion, Tom Brumley was the greatest of them all. His stuff on his ZB, was out in the universe. No one could touch Tom. Notes from my late darling, Shannon Burns. Gone now 20 months in God's Heaven.

Todd was our singer in the BRUMLEY Show in Branson for 15 years and then did the Joey Riley Show for several years until Joey passed away. He's doing the Show At the Grand Country on Sunday in Branson now, along with his food truck. Love this video!!!! ❤️❤️ So good

It's the nostalgia of the man himself that originally recorded Together Again. Tom created a sound and feel that made this song and his playing, legendary. I know other players have played this song with their own twist to it, and is great and notable. But Tom's tone, feel, heart and soul, is really unmatched.

@@markjamison984 Yes, she does a good rendition. A few others also. But NO one will EVER play it like Tom Brumley. His touch and tone on this recording; simply can NOT be equaled; let alone beat. For he revealed his inner heart in this rendition.
Shortly after "Together Again" was recorded; in a musical convention in NY; Buddy Emmons walked over to Tom and said, "Hey hoss, if the rest of what you play is like on TA; you're a helluva SG player man.
Now get this. Buddy NEVER complimented any one, until this day. Tom told me that and said, "I was so honored I shall never forget it, Just think that the greatest SG player in the world said that to me. WOW!".

Many will not believe this, but as I pray to Jesus (and stand on this earth), it is a TRUE story:
I had the honor of visiting Tom at his home in Branson years ago. The visit was set up by a SG player named Wayne Tanner. The reason was: Tom had a prewar Richenbacker laptop and he wanted Wayne to get "that wow" sound back. Which Wayne did. I watched with all eyes as Wayne did it.
When it was done I asked Tom if I might play his Pedal Steel Guitar; which was in his music room. He graciously said "YES".
    I played Tom's turn-around on "Together Again".
    Are you ready for this??
He said, "Damn Carl, you played that better than I did on the recording!!". I cried (because NO body can equal or beat him-NO BODY) and I shall cherish that as long as I live. Later, I had the honor of Tom playing at my show in Atlanta in 1997. He received 3 encores. My dream came true with that. How I miss him.
He is, and will, always be one of THE greatest steel guitar players ever! I love him for always treating me so kindly. I met him several weeks in Miami FL after "Together Again" was recorded
May Jesus rest his precious soul. And my sincere condolences to Rolene; for your loss, precious lady.

Had the pleasure of meeting and hearing Tom when he was with Rick Nelson in Sacramento California. So sorry to hear of his passing. Haven't spoken with his brother, Jack, for years. In fact it was shortly after Rick's passing. This is the first time I've even heard of Todd, Tom's son. What a great talent. So happy I ran across this page.

Thanks for posting this Steve..As a steel player, I have an S-10 "ZB" made when Tom owned the company in the early 70's...I usually practice with a number of Pedal Steel Masters via mp3..but my daily go to warm up is with Tom playing the classic licks and fills on Dwight's "I Sang Dixie"...

Maybe he saw the hectic life a musician lives and decided to go another route, but he sure is talented! Sounds like he's doing good in his chosen career. Happy to hear that and thank you for your response. I really appreciate it.
