Gary Carter is frickin' awesome.Chill bumps every single time he touches that fantastic instrument.I swear I hope this guy survives me.I'll rest easier knowin' Gary Carter is still out there, playin' america's greatest instrument and God's musical gift to humanity - the pedal steel guitar.
First time I heard the steel was on a Patsy Cline tune when I was 7. Time stood still. I couldn't figure out what kind of instrument it was! I'm from Scotland. I just loved the smooth spine-tingling changes. It's a magical invention. Play on, folks!
this song, makes me cry, I think back to the day we had to say goodbye for the first time to my dearly loved granddad after he went into a residential home. it was the jim reeves version. R I P granddad
It takes a lot of imagination and hard work to take a song everybody knows and many players have played, and make that song your own. Nicely done Gary.
That was how the full episode was when I found it. Not too sure if the site I found it on is still up or not, and I did use realplayer on Windows to crop this (because I actually wanted to convert this particular bit to mp3). Doesn't really bother me, though, as I can still hear everything clearly, and I gave quite a lot of people something to smile about.
The band name is Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives (Marty is the one who is talking at the beginning). Gary Carter is actually in (Marty's wife) Connie Smith's band (The Sundowners), and the bass player featured here has since left the band.
MotherofGodandSatan I don't need meds, as all I need is for you to stop trolling me. (and there's a higher chance of the latter than the former, as the chance of you stopping your trolling is 100%, which literally means that you're going to stop doing it).
He's spoken very highly of Teleonics products in a lot of interviews and I've seen him use one on the show before. I love his Zum. It has a sweet tone but I really like the tone of the Derby he played when he was with Faith Hill.
I'm being trolled by a few people on here who think that it is fun to tease me for the fact that I am autistic. If you ever see things such as "she is a creep" (I am a woman, by the way) and "she is mentally ill", just ignore them, as they are aimed at me and they are doing a good job at failing to insult me. These trolls also think that they know what my personal life is like, but they don't, as I am nothing like what they say (they're just making all of that up because they have nothing better to do).
+martyfan11 And now they are nowhere to be seen as I blocked them, and I have changed the comments setting so now anyone else who wants to poke fun at me via comments will be unable to.

Those dissonants and their resolution bring the good kind of tears to my eyes. Literally. Not many psg players make good use of them.
Agreed
Love the sound of that steel.

Very nice rendition of one of my favourites.

Pedal steel guitar.
what band is this or how do i look for more music of them?

Marty Stuart appears Saturday evenings on RFD Channel. Gary is not always on there.

He is indeed.

What amp/effects is gary using?
I don't really know, but whatever he's using, is responsible for that awesome sound.
I think Carter is using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe here, and sometimes he also uses a Little Izzy plugged right at the steel's output jack.

how did they know that ? People from your place followed you here just for insulting you ? That's harsh
Sorry but there is no such thing as "my place", and they knew damn well what they were doing.
