That Rockets team has some issues and honestly Sengun is their best and least selfish player. He's the main one I expect to be an top player in the future.
Fr, after Green dropping 42 I’ve seen so many people praising him as the best player from the draft class. He’s not even the best from the class on his team imo, and then there’s Mobley, Franz etc. Green is horribly inefficient and hasn’t made any progress as a defender or a playmaker since he entered the league. Everything about the Rockets offense is so much better with Sengun on the floor, and it makes so much more sense having everything run through him as opposed to Green/KPJ
@@samn90834 Yeah. I expected Green to make at least a jump in offensive consistency, but he’s been the same player as last season. I wouldn’t be opposed to reading him if we get somebody who better fits alongside Sengun.
As a rockets fan, I can’t stress how important he will be for the future of the Franchise. He’s arguably the smartest players on the roster and looks to create for others on every possession. When he has the ball in DHO or in the post, as long as guys cut or move offball he’s able to make a play for them or confuse the defense. He’s a special player man, he’s already gotten into the lab with Hakeem Olajuwon to hone his skills…hopefully houston’s front office realizes what they have in there hands
@@onlygodsgraceentertainment4819 Not quite, but he's almost there. He's averaging 15.4 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.0 BPG, 0.8 SPG. So yeah, just a bit more in each category to reach those numbers I mentioned :)
Nice video! I liked Sengun last year, and like most Rockets fans, we have been waiting for our team to use him as the offensive hub. Since Porter Jr. has been out, they have been doing exactly that. I also feel like Sengun probably already had great footwork/post up moves before meeting Hakeem. Obviously, dont know when and how much they have worked out together, but his post skill level is so high that it's not likely he picked that up from a few sessions with Hakeem.
bro in turkey, pivots are even used to playing like guards, footwork is more common in europe nba show business if you want to be a good defender, you will play in europe, only european pivots can stop the sheng under the rim
It's no wonder that he plays like this because he has someone to study and learn from, he has said many times that his idol is Jokic and that he watches every game of his, that is the future of the center to do everything absolutely everything, Jokic revolutionized the position of the center and much more there will be similar profiles with a similar game.
Yep, and Sengun is more athletic than Joker which will only help him! Obviously, Joker is a better passer and shooter, but Sengun definitely has potential to be a 20 PPG, 10RPG, 5-6 APG player with 2 BPG, 1 SPG at his prime. Kind of like Noah and Horford were!
He has improved his handles. Last year a lot of times when he tried that coast to coast dribble the ball was frequently swiped from him. He has also learned how to deal with bigger , longer and stronger players.
one of the first member of point center era... This will change things soon we will see more centers like him... Each time he made the plays other players scoring also improve
The footwork is a pre Olajuwon ability, the training was the icing on the cake though. He is a player who managed to make his team play in the final in one of the two most difficult leagues in Europe, which has two Euroleague champions, at the age of 18, as the league's MVP. Also, do not forget that the European leagues have a defensive mentality at the level of the 90s NBA.
Sengun is definitely a player to keep an eye on. He's got great court vision and unselfish play, making him a valuable asset to the Rockets' future. Can't wait to see what he'll bring to the table in the upcoming games.
He's definitely one of the most exciting young centers (shame we couldn't have Chet playing this year for a comparison). I'm a stats guy, and I've definitely seen his uptick - especially recently with Porter being out, he's taken on even more of the playmaking and scoring role, getting even more assits and points over his most recent stretch of games. It's also interesting to compare him to another exciting young center, Walker Kessler. They're both doing great stuff (Kessler is a first year, but is also being given way more minutes by the Jazz, unlike Sengun last year who couldn't really take Wood's spot as the starting center), but Sengun is definitely seeming to be more of a playmaking and offensive center (which is why he gets the comparisons to Jokic), whereas Kessler is more of a defensive beast. The future of centers is looking good. At least from these two, and Chet. :)
i think he is idk if he will reach jokic level like some people say but i definitely see him reaching sabonis level or even higher than that the rockets should be running their offense through him having a big that is an incredible passer like he is it’s such a advantage for them and it gives them so many different ways to attack defenses
I hate that sabonis shit. He plays nothing like him at all. Closer to jokic.. he’s really a joker young pau hybrid.. he’s sneaky athletic too. Like truly.. the kid can soar
It's one of the frustrating things about the Rockets this season - it would be nice if they sharpened their defensive efforts, if for nothing more than the growth of the players. You don't want these talented youngsters missing out on potential and being two one-dimensionally attacking because the coaches just let them do whatever they wanted.
I can speak on behalf of many people who drafted him on their fantasy basketball squad, the more he plays like this it make me (us) look like a genius. Grabbing him at the 5th round getting laughed at and questioned about it at the time
I could definitely see a team being built around him and Green. I'm not yet sold on Porter or Smith Jr (they're not bad, but I don't know if they'll reach a point where they're viable pieces on a contending team), and Gordon I imagine would come off the bench in a season or two, but Sengun and Green are the goods IMO.
i hate some houston player for not moving even an inch on half court setting. if they were to move their butts just a bit more they could easily score plus 10 points every game considering alperen is really good at finding cutters. also it hurts to watch.
You should have added the stats for the last 6 games. Small sample size yes but the only real sample size where they’re legit running an offense through him. I think they’re ORtg is over 118 for example
Was just looking at those - if you count 7 games (the seventh is when Porter got injured after 10 minutes), he's averaging 7 APG and about 19.4 PPG. More than double his season assist average (3.3) and an extra 4 PPG. He's definitely lifted his game when the team has needed him to - and while it's only a 2 week sample, if nothing else it's showing his potential.
