On self understanding and giving yourself grace: It feels good, secure, and stable to have a routine you like, but don't let your routine control you. If you only do the same things every day, you're like a train on a track; very efficient at going where you've gone before without the ability to go elsewhere. I like my routines too, but my newer attitude about them is the sentiment about the Pirate Code in the Pirates Of The Carribean: "Hang the rules... they're more like guidelines, anyway". It's all a healthy balance of finding what makes you comfortable AND learning to step outside that comfort zone from time to time. Nobody's perfect. Nobody has it figured out.

Autistic engineering student here. Burnout after the weekend that was supposed to prevent said burnout is way too accurate to be healthy. I'll get tunnel visioned on an interest and exhaust myself on the time I'm supposed to relax.

Yes, I am fortunate to have some control over my work schedule so I take Mondays off, I save them for recovering from the weekend: chores, family time, socializing, holidays, etc. I also use it to attend doctor and dental appts, vet appts, errands, grocery shopping, make calls, it makes it so much easier to just focus on my intense workdays Tuesday through Friday and not have to make up missed time. But when Ihave a free Monday sometimes I just crash for several hours and I am kind t myself about it because I needed it. I used to get so overwhelmed on Sunday nights about running out of admin and personal time, and no more, it's really helpful.

Hi! Recently diagnosed autist here. It's validating hearing someone else talk about being burned out after weekends. That's been happening to me recently too.

Yes, weekend burnout is real! You explained the logic behind it so well. I'd never thought of it this way before! Thank you :)
