i met band of skulls in 2012, when i first listened sweet sour and could't stop listening for a whole semester while i walked to my classes. one of the most underestimated rock band of modern age. every album it's pure gold.
I recognized right away that Matt was special. It would be difficult to find someone who could come close. It's a trio, so every on makes a huge difference. I hope they find someone that can fill Matt's shoes.

Oh man - just seen them with their new drummer - the guy from the Whigs. That guy kneecapped them. They were so powerful with Matt, he’s got a great feel and hits them just right. Close to Bonham on record and takes a lot more chances. Awesome drummer. New guy was shonky - bad time, made the drums sound cheap, no tasty fills... just a bit amateur. Just goes to show how important a drummer is.
Saw them with the same guy yesterday - he's not that bad. Agree that he's less powerful and drums sound cheaper on recordings, but at least live he sounded fine. And after all, it was Matt who decided to quit the band, so I am just glad that they keep on going.
Whoa....that's good information to know. We were thinking of flying to Vancouver to see them (saw them live in Nashville in 2016 - and even bumped into Matt a few blocks down from Exit/In - my husband recognized him right away and we had to cross the street to chat with him). It was an amazing performance and you're right, Matt brings that band up a notch. Now we're probably not going to drop $1500 in travel expense to see them. Thanks for sharing this information.
Cleary you haven't been paying attention. The band has grown exponentially since Julian joined. He's fallen into a groove with them and they work really well together. Just saw them in Detroit and he crushed it. Even members of the crowd were yelling out that the drummer is awesome. Russell and Emma are energized having him with the group. They intentionally saved drum parts for him to play when recording their latest album.
I think they just need to spice it up a bit. Studio version is great but I've always thought there was a huge missed opportunity for a flying guitar solo at the end.

Daniel Sinclair I feel Julien fitted in and done a great job?

Matt Rura mate I was at the front of the crowd at a gig and he fucking blew, made the band sound shit
song at 18:00 ?
You're Not Pretty But You Got It Goin' On
what's the intro song called?
Piotr Ayoush Shazam it
Light of the Morning
I would've bet the house that he played Gibson's for most of their songs. Glad he chose Gretsch for the non-Fender songs though
Certainly I KNOW ITS NOT OK
Great band
That audiance was boring tho
Cold Fame although a good song is too slow and needs to be taken of their setlist
People looked bored and some left
I think they just need to spice it up a bit. Studio version is great but I've always thought there was a huge missed opportunity for a flying guitar solo at the end.
Haha
Quite like this band. Have their album sweet sour, bought it 2012. Worst band name ever though.
