Keep it!. It would be a great car to watch be rebuilt over time, cars being rebuilt don’t need to be done quick, your in no rush to do so. Take your time and soon you will have your dream rx3!!
I owned that same car , sat in a barn bought it for 300 dollars in mint condition, Came with new rotary engine in crate car body had 1500 miles on it, Paid Mazda to put new motor in, this was back in 1978. Drove it for a year, swap it for a 69 road runner 440,4 speed, even swap.
Coming from a guy who had an RX3 10a Sedan with a bang in the rear end, and a seized 10a engine, I sourced another 10a, pulled the seized one out, then sold the car before going any further. That was 25 years ago and I still regret it! Keep it and create some cool content!...As you said, probably wont get this chance again!
The out back has preserved it well! No need replace any body work panels Hire a paint less dent removal pro remove all the dents then do the rust completely cut out & replace make your parts from a 'genuine Mazda Bonnet from 70 to 86 any model have a original fuel flap go the patina rout the story is unique, preserve original correct 10A white interior hubcaps it is all available right now, Kindest Regards.
Keep it! You mentioned possibly selling to build other cars and promote the channel. Forget that! I only found this channel because of the bush find rx-3!! Restoring this car would be great content for your viewers. Plus you’re already falling in love with the car. This is your chance to own/build one. Make it how you want it and you can always sell it later for even more money running and driving. And you get the joy of cruising it around and making lots of noise! You can be the guy that pulled it out of the bush and flipped it, or the guy that pulled it out of the bush and saved it. Easy choice in my mind. .
Hey man, I absolutely love the videos you make and the channel, I am 20 years old and it’s literally been a lifetime dream of mine to build one of these cars. My dad built one as a kid in the 90s and he always tells me story’s. I would be happy to spend the time and the money to restore this correctly. But it would honestly be a dream come true if I could buy this rx3 off you guys and restore/ build it :)
I vote keep it. I love the idea of a mechanical restoration and getting her running and keeping all that desert patina on the outside!!!! It certainly would be awesome for your channel to keep this car as one part to complement your usual exploring. Fantastic find, I'd have loved the 240K coupe as I have a coupe and sedan with alot of spares :). Keep the RX-3, you'll never get another! It's one of those once in a lifetime finds!
My advice would be keep it and focus your channel on it ! You will get loads of new viewers with it ! I would love to see it tided up and rat rodded like exactly like you mentioned. Maybe us viewers can ither help with parts donations, money or can donate time (graham 😬) i can see how enthusiastic you are about this car and I think it would make great content for you channel
Honestly didn't think you'd find it's owner and get permission given the rarity of it. But now that it's definitely happening I am over the moon excited for this one.
Sell it! That is a MASSIVE under taking even for a fully fitted out shop. The engine is the last piece of that puzzle. Interior electrical trim and clips. The list is huge. What ever you do with it to suit you wont suit the next guy. Thats a rare and important car. You are lucky to call it yours, be happy with that and pass it on mate. Top video.
Look at it this way, sell it now for a quick 20-25k and never have one again or since your handy restore it, spend 50k do alot of the work yourself and you have a genuine rx3 worth 100-120k minimum. Good investment if you ask me.
Keep it! Do the resto over time. Are you ever going to find another and one as solid.....No! It's got a cool back story too now. Trust me you'll regret it for the rest of your life if you sell it.
Yeah! Patina rod all the way! Bit of straightening, set of Wolfie supaslots, coat of satin clear, drainpipe exhaust.... Perfect! I smiled at the 'Bad rust', mate, come to the UK and we'll show you bad rust!! :D
Epic man, patina all the way, just patch all the rust, straighten all the dents, clear coat it, you'll be able to find a rotor i reckon for a decent price it's who you know. I think it should be the channels Mascot.
Id be inclined to extract those tailight housings and other bespoke pieces and tag and bag em asap. Get the new lens e t c and assemble tailights and keep on a shelf safe in the shed as a visual documentation of your progress. That way you will make good progress on the x3
Hey mate, I grew up in south Auckland in the 90s and was in the car scene. All we herd was rotary and v8s. Like you said your never get one or be able to afford to buy one. Restore this one and rat rod it. The channel will fund it and sponsor will come though. Good luck with the build bro. we backing you here in NZ 😁
I wouldn't be able to sell it. So much potential and such a desirable piece of history. But you need the time and patience before taking it on, and a easy going wifey 😁
The Rust is not too bad all things considered, to fix all the Dents would require someone of great panel beating skills. 10A is a single rotor, 13B is twin rotor, you should be able to find one. An RX3 Coupe sold here ( NZ ) for $150 000. ( Do Not ask, it is GONE )
it's still insane you've got a restorable rx3 from the bush, if it's your dream car you've gotta keep it because you'll never find another, or if it's not then you can sell it and get something else, I know about an very rusted burnt 808 out bush, it wouldn't have a good panel on it but maybe some of the mechanical parts would be ok
glad to see a [almost] damage free recovery this time, good call with that truck, deffo worth it. thats a little gem there, if finances permit, nice project for the channel, would get subs flying in. you virtually gave the escort away, [from our point of view] time to make some money if you have to sell, then u need to start a resto on one of your projects aww, never brought that pinto back....
"Patina" is just a fancy way of saying fucked paint. I'm a kiwi in Aus too bro, have Rotaries here, got the S8 batty and couple bugeye 323's. One's a whale tail wagon in the same original blue as your RX3, it's a nice colour when it's nice lol
I would keep the car. The history of the car alone would sell it for me but if that wasn't enough just the fact id never get another one like that would do it
If you like rx's and rotary's I would definitely keep it mate where are you ever going to find / own an rx3 that owes you as little as that one does again....... Never! Also we don't have many RX3s or even 808's left here in WA as most were used as bush bashers and then scrap and the ones that were lucky enough to survive got sold over east
Young man, I like your enthusiasm and I admire your optimism but you are certifiably insane!😅🤣🤪, if you think you can restore this car into anything usable. Of cause, I will follow your channel and I will be the first person to congratulate you if you achieve this. God's speed, young man!
Also youd be surprised how much a bit of slap hammer plannising and hammer n dolly work can do to straighten the rx out. See Big truck oz channel vh Commodore resto for inspiration. Make great content too.
Clean it up a bit push as many of the dents out as possible and get it on market place for the highest bidder And make yourself a tidy little profit It would be a very expensive and time consuming restoration but not for the person with the right gear 👍👍 And being a teenager in the eighties I had three of them and never paid more than $800 for one
It's insane over in nz how much these rx3 and rx2s are worth now even 323s now are like 30-50 grand I remember many years back in the 2010s a lady I use to work with her husband had a 12a bridge port 323 wagon he was looking to sell for 15k and and I really wanted it the only reason I didn't buy it was my living situation and the house I was living at didn't have a shed or a garage that was able to store a car in and I kick myself every day now not buying it

You are a smart person well done with your decision to let the car go,it worked out awesome.

@@jakedavies3347 look in Europe for a 818. The portugese and French sites have cheaper cars. Thats where I buy from

Unreal find. amazing how the outback reasonably maintains the metal from rot, over 100k AUD restored.
Fix her!!!, this project would give the channel a major boost
Saying RX free over and over and over was doing my head in.
Somehow it's come to you. Keep it and bring it back to life.the price will never go down!!👍👍
My advice would be keep it and focus your channel on it ! You will get loads of new viewers with it ! I would love to see it tided up and rat rodded like exactly like you mentioned. I 100% agree as I feel it would gain heaps of views and subs and obviously awesome content
Yep, look at project Binky. One car, over 8 years of content.
It’s got a freaking Towbar!! What were they towing with a 10a??? 😂😂
Saw an old RX3 and some dude wearing a Benny Hoody, and though, yeah he can have 30 minutes of my day......Subscribed...bell on
you already named it "RX FREE"
KEEP IT! This is definitely my top favorite car you've had on your channel. Way better than the Cresida. You have to keep it!
Honestly didn't think you'd find it's owner and get permission given the rarity of it.
But now that it's definitely happening I am over the moon excited for this one.
What do you mean about finding it’s owner? I watched this a while ago and I can’t remember that happening.
Mate, unless you've got the big bucks to even get it half decent, take the highest offer and run.
Sell it! That is a MASSIVE under taking even for a fully fitted out shop. The engine is the last piece of that puzzle. Interior electrical trim and clips. The list is huge. Great to see this one getting saved.

id be frothing if i found that...one of my dream cars since a kid
i just watched the first vid of it so good to see you got to get it
Cheers mate, thank you for watching. If you head over to the lowstandards channel, Jay now has the car and fitted a 20b and got it working again.
Fella you didnt wast anytime getting this one back home….well done so excited see what you do with it….🏴👍😎
Gained another triangle (well 3 cos you had none to begin with) and a new life via Jay.

Great score man and very repairable indeed! The biggest regret you’ll have in your life is selling that thing
Epic man, patina all the way, just patch all the rust, straighten all the dents, clear coat it, you'll be able to find a rotor i reckon for a decent price it's who you know.
I think it should be the channels Mascot.
congrats on the new beast ! could be a really good investment,im shore youd fall in love with the noise the engine makes at high rpm, i did
what a find, gotta restore it, they are worth so much money now
You've got spirit.. everything is do-able but you will have to keep your eye on the ball.. cheers n good luck 🥂
Great find ! 👍
What’s the story behind the rx? Was it stolen? Did it break down and was abandoned? Why was it left out there.
Like a lot of cars abandoned in the bush, they were worth nothing and disposed of like rubbish.
@@freestyla101
Yes, but what happens when you try to register it and the car is in the old owners name? I’m guessing you can’t say “I found it”
@@nathanrykers7588 yeah I agree. I’m sure there’s a law that covers that and what you have to do.
The rear doors have the same arm rests as the front. I reckon you should do the patina resto.

10a is twin rotor. Just smaller capacity than 12a and 13b
Prices of cars these days are just insane would be a good quick profit to sell, but you know me I say keep it! 😜😜
So you figured out who the owner was. Sweet.

Cool!!!
Man that car is solid as wish my ute was that solid to start off with
My first car was one of these. I hope it get's restored.
Put it aside till you can get to it.
I’ve let some pretty cool cars go that I can never afford again. Wish I had them.

keep it mate, has more potential, and you seem passionate about it. So Id keep it if I was you
Nice man glad u got it and its gonna b saved either way keep up the good work
Congrats man!!
Build the RX3 I’m keen to see it going 🤙🏻
