Abandoned RX3 gets some new parts
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2021
- In the last installment of the RX3 series we work on making the car a roller and pop out some of the many dents it has.
I also reveal the plan for what is happening to the car.

Thank you for the opportunity to get her back on the road :)
You have to do a build series on this my guy
Not using the 10A that went into the bin? lol!
If any one can do it, its you mate.
Here I was thinking this was the last I'd seen of this little bute! So keen to see more of it!
Wow, you have a greatly interesting and fun channel! For sure new subbie here!
You've really gotta appreciate those old Mazdas. My dad 25 years (Before I was born, I might add) ago actually bought a Coupe shell with only the bumpers and the dash in it. The motor was in pieces and he ground up restored it with a Single Weber Carb, Full black interior and a Toyota Supra 5-speed manual transmission.. It originally had this weird Japanese 5 Speed Manual in it that actually had a "Park" gear which was pretty funny(note that the handbrake didn't work at all). It was the fasting thing on the road.. Sadly, he sold it a few years later, because he was always being hassled out by the cops all the time, and he was into 4WDS.... He also had a 4-door with a welded diff in it, and one time he went around the roundabout, since he a had a welded diff, he almost drove into the shop! We also happened to own a RX2, and one time my dad was in it, there was a dude in his XB Falcon 351-GT and he started to race him, but the RX2(Keeping in mind it was full of people) literally went past like nothing... Another time, He SPED past the servo doing 200 just right when the cops put away the speed camera and he got chased, then slowly eased down to 80. then he said "Yeah, I was doing 85" and managed to get away. Another time, He SPED up Mount Wellington UP and down completely(Also full of people), and he ended up melting the clutch plated, destroying the exhaust and melted the seals onto the rotors... All the other cars my dad owned he had to sell to either buy the house, pay bills, but the coupe he sold by choice.... You used to be able to buy them for Eleven hundred bucks, but now you have to pay EIGHTEEN GRAND for a shitty rusty 808 that's been sitting in some dudes backyard for 20 years rusting away(maybe even longer).
So awesome. A trick I’ve used is foot balls and soccer balls. Deflate them and throw them in the guards, doors etc. fill them with air and they pop the panels back out really nice.
Thats a bloody good idea. Cheers dude.
Your a legend sir
That is a ripper idea. Thank you!!!
With such little work this car looks a million bucks in those desert shots, Putting those extra parts in and doing some diy panel beating you've done bloody well.
I couldn't think of anyone more deserving for it
From a panel beater point of view. I wish u actually paid a dent buster. They would of removed those dents for you without ruining/stretching the doors. You have made more damage on those doors then they previously had.
Not a hater btw. Love your Chanel and love your car please take good care of it
for sure made more work for the next guy
Fair enough I understand. My nearest panel beater is 380kms away lol. Joys of the outback.
Yeah I cringed when I saw that too.
@@AutomotiveKarnage yeah but you simply could have left panels alone and it would have been more valuable to the rite person. But if you were keeping it I'd understand what you're saying. Love the show bro and i do think you're cool don't get me wrong
I think you made the right decision, looked much better after your efforts, keep up the good work. 👍
It’s been your best month because people want to see what you do with this car. But to let it go means you’re letting go a lot of those views. But we don’t know your situation so thanks for the vids. This rx-3 has a great story! 👍🏼
Ok you’ve got my attention now. Looking forward to your restoration project (I even subscribed so I won’t miss an episode) Best of luck from Canada!
At least it's going to a good home and someone that will do the same thing you were thinking of. I hope the new owner does a video series of it's progress.
We know your passion is to find them and then find them owners that are going to bring them to life again, so this is a prime example of your purpose. Well done on the decision, there’s lots of cars out there still waiting for you to find them and bring them home. Keep up the great work and vids that take us on the journey with you.
good decision, tough one for sure but I'm glad it will get done and used rather than shelved for another 10-20yrs .
(just found your channel from the Peter Anderson/xacoupeguy XA sedan project, loving your videos!)
Looking at the progress the rx3 has made, it sure has cone to a good home. Thank you joining the channel mate, hope ya stick around.
Great video's mate 👌👍I saw the Yellow Luv ute (av-gas)and met the owner 25 years ago , absolutely mind-blowing to see it !!
Starting to look nice
Love that you saved her from out of the bush and already have her on wheels and looking better haha. Great work mate 😎👍
A little tip with hitting out dints. My old man had a panel shop many years ago and he showed me a good trick.
You use a piece of timber as hitting it metal on metal shinks the metal. Also try and start at the point of first impact (generally the sharpest crease) and work your way out! Makes a massive difference in the long run!
Look forward to seeing more progress on the rx mate love your work 👏🤙
Well its going to a great home ..
Just a tip for pushing out a rear panel or a general tip .
I used a long block of wood against the wheel wells then had 2 A-frame jacks and some more blocks on the beaver side . Doesnt take much effort to get it back out that way .
Bottle jacks , A frame jacks . a big Hammer with blocks of wood , A big rubber mallet . Thats backyard Panel beating right there lol
And yessssss hahahah going to Jay at low standards!!!! Perfect person to go to 😂🙏❤🙌
Good Job, glad you found a home for it. Saved another one !! if you had not picked it up sooner or later it would have been bulldozed into a pile of scrap during a clear up.
I think you’ve made a great decision man 👍 can’t wait to see what the new owner does with her
Good job DJ well done mate, shame to let it go,was looking good! Back to the Cressida 👍😎🇦🇺
nice to see this getting back on the ground and less neglected!
Man dodged a bullet there 😁✌️
It is very sad that you are getting rid of it but you are giving it a good home and the person will take good care of it
So true man. The story will live on with Jay. If I kept it she would die in a paddock for "one day."
Nice that it's going to a good home, can't wait to see some videos of it on the Low Standards channel!
Great job DJ…your spot on can’t keep em all its been great find and experience for you and us..you will have to go and see it when its done……sounds like its going to a good home well done for saving it and sending it on its journey to be back razzing around ….. looking forward to your next video..🏴👍🔩😅
Cheers Dru, it's a choice that is better for the car. Thanks for watching as always.
Mate I think this project will make your channel Grow so much everyone loves an RX3
Glad to hear it's going to live on in it's patina form but I hope you got at least $25k for it
Looking forward to it!
They seem nice.
The MAZA came up mint bro
DJ my missus said I should do the same and sell my wrecks haha
Dom drill hole mig a nut and bolt to rear and attach a srap to something solid and pull the panel straight mate easy as , cheers, shaneo, nelson, nz 👍
This has been a great find and it now will live on forever! I am a new subscriber and so far love your channel. Please provide a link to the channel and mate that this car is going to. Thanks, Rob
I give credit were credit is due good work man only subscribed this week loving the content
Cheers bro I appreciate it.
Get a jack & a block against the base of the rear panel & slowly push the panel out.
After removing the lights of course.
A porta-power would help you push out that rear section….. If you know someone with one. 👍👍👌👌. Or find one on market place. They’re a bloody handy thing to own hey. 👍👍
might see it around here in Adelaide :) respect the decision
Make sure to send me a pic if you do.
@@AutomotiveKarnage of course!
Good decision. Let it live.
Can’t wait to see it finished.
Me to dude, its going to me mint!
Good result keep us updated on the progress.
Any luck getting the station wagon running
Can Hardly wait You know it's going to be Good 😁😁😁
i think that poor little mazda will be in safer hands now [i'll have nightmares about your panelbeating] tonight
keep up the good [???] work, be safe, be gentle, + enjoy. all the best, sunderland, UK [where the nissans are made]
Looks good mate👌👍🙂
Mate it's great shape 💯 can be buffed out with a little cut and polish and stick running gear back in a few door rubbers and a couple of windows and she is a motza away we go add a 13b turbo and away we go lol but in all sense love what you are doing
Cheers bro, so true. Head over to the low standards channel and keep an eye on there.
Looking forward to the updates
sad but great at the same time
My DREAM CAR IS A SAVANA RX3
You have a huge heart brother
They are a stunning mini muscle car when restored. You're very lucky I'm virtually certain that is a real RX-3, many are fakes that were born a Mazda 808. A bit like the replica Falcon GT cars that were born a Fairmont... If you look at your fuel tank at 5:50 it has a big 'L' pressed into it meaning 'Large'. The 808 had a smaller 45 litre tank stamped 'S' for small. Most fake RX-3's almost always have their smaller 808 fuel tanks still in them. The devil is in the details. Take care of that RX-3 mate, they're a very valuable car now.
You are absolutely right mate. This car is lucky enough to still have its tags and chassis number stamped on it. It is in fact a genuine s102a.
Good stuff glad it going to a gd home where it will get what it need s
I get why you let it go, but your gonna regret it.
Coulda dropped anther project to make room.
Oh well.
Thanks for the good content regardless.
What other cars can you get your hands on.
I'd be very keen on one
Hope you keeping it!
Sorry bro but I’m not going to sleep for weeks after watching what you did to those panels 😭
Haha I did say im not a panel beater. It looks better for sure.
So how much is it worth?
Love this really cool
was this car stolen?
Try pulling the major rear dent using your 4x4 and a tow rope to pull it lol.
Haha that could work.
off to SA and then someone on the East Coast will buy it.
Haha i'll remortgage my house to make sure that doesn't happen.
That chassis, even in that condition, is still worth alot of money.
Definitely worth saving alright.
@@AutomotiveKarnage Absolutely, I have seen RX3 shells in similar condition go for more then 7k.
I love your panel beating
But just sell it and make a handful of money 💰👍👍
If i had the space & the cash for this i'd be alll over it
Hope you got at least 20k for it.. Cos that's 100% min what you'd get in nsw.. 808s shells going for 15😁
can you get him to video updates of the mazda for us so we can follow that car
How's the panelvan in the background mate
Are those cars in the background from an old vid I recognise them
Sooo how many offers have you had so far??
Hi is there a link for the bloke that bought it , what was his UA-cam channel ?
I'd be scared of snakes in the cars
Lets hope the Commodore engine doesn’t find its way into this
Haha same here.
I think that was definitely the correct choice. It would suck for the car to just sit around for years because you don't have a chance to get to it.
Maybe the new owner can put a mang in it? That with the VN would make a really nice trolling pair!
(not actually suggesting this)
Lol subscribed to watch this build now unsubscribed just as fast
Aww gutted, but I understand. Check in later, you never know what we might find.
Some new wheels to work on
i got to admire your enthusiasm or madness but when all is said and done this thing is going to cost you a motsa
That patina! Good on you for cracking into it.
Check my old Mazda build if any of you are bored.
ua-cam.com/video/4En2FXixamM/v-deo.html
How much did you sell it for? If you loved my comment..plz answer it.
Sorry dude it's not up to me to say.
@@AutomotiveKarnage rubbish you are the seller!! I just cant stand it when you say its worth a mint but dont tell us what you got for it. Its like watching selling houses australia and at the end the price of the renovated house isnt released. That is the whole point of it all!! How much!!
Sure looks like an rxfree
Barra.
PROJECT KARNAGE !!
Haha for sure.
Hey mate if you interested in selling let me know!
Wel that was anti climactic 😞
Did you check that it wasn’t stolen? How does the law work if you find an abandoned wreck in the bush?
rx free
Sandblast the fuck out of it
Some drug dealing sydney sider will pay 30k for that heap 👍
Seems like they all end up there eventually lol
11:37 *completly fucked
The mazda or the cars in the background?
Probably better off with the cash anyway mate, there is a fair amount of money needed to get this thing even half decent
Good thing where its going, Jay has most of the bits lying around.
what a waste restore the dam thing its going to get thashed all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Even if I restored it, I would still thrash it as well lol
@@AutomotiveKarnage THEN WHATS THE POINT MATE
You may have gained 1000 new subscribers but youve probably lost 2000 by sell it just for an easy profit!
Awesome glad it's not the ugly rx4
Bc it is an xr3
Tbh , the RX-4 isn’t that bad looking
@@f4ufighter675 Yeah, I like the RX4. Still prefer the RX3 though.
Think about the rx5 for a second then
C mon it’s just another blue car and a god damn Mazda this is where the story ends move on find something cool 😎😎😎
