It always makes me smile when you "discover" a huge classic worldwide hit! 😂 Completely normal given how young you are! Now you have to watch that movie!! Totally worth it!
Also totally relevant to today, given a 2022 USA Supreme Court ruling and the consequences of that ruling for desperate women that just took woman's rights back 60 years, right around the time this movie took place, when abortion was illegal.
PLEASE, you have to watch this movie. This is one of the best movies from the 80s. Mr. Patrick Swayze will be forever the big deal. Jennifer Grey - great actress - is also in another 80s classic, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", playing Ferris's sister.
Several years later, Jennifer Grey appeared on a season of Dancing with the Stars and she went all the way to win the coveted mirror ball trophy. She was around 50 at that time but did an amazing job on nearly all her dances.
I love when the mother says “ she gets that from me” because Mother is played by Kelly Bishop who won a Tony award for the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line!
Patrick was also an actor, dancer and he sang the song Shes Like The Wind on the sound track of the movie. Thats her parents . The dad didnt think he was good enough for their daughter.
Patrick Swayze was a professional dancer...so sad he's gone. Me and my sisters watched this at the movies when it came out and I remember trying to take a picture of Patrick from the screen...😅
Dereck ! Watch the movie!!!!!!!!! Même mon ado l'a aimé alors qu'elle trouve tous nos anciens films complètement démodés 😄😂 celui là, on ne le laisse pas dans un coin !😉❤🎶🎥🎬
This movie is why every woman alive fell in love with Patrick Swayze! He was a dancer - his Mother taught ballet - he played football and danced as a kid.
And I believe he gave up dancing over a knee injury, which makes his dancing in this movie more impressive. I think I read somewhere he was in a lot pain doing this.
A few years ago, Jennifer Grey was on Dancing with the Stars and she won her season. One of the earlier weeks, she struggled because she said learning the dances took her back to this movie dancing with Patrick. And one of her dances was to a song from Dirty Dancing, but not This one. She said this song was for her and Patrick. It was sweet when it was her turn every week, to show clips from the movie while she trained.
Patrick Swayze Is Originally A Professionally & Classically Trained Male Ballet Dancer As Was His Now (Widowed) & Now Remarried Wife Was Also A Classically & Professionally Trained Ballet Dancer Where They Both Trained At Her Mother's Dance Studio And They Trained Together And Fell In Love And They Did A Movie Together As Ballet Dancers Called "The Last Dance"!!!!!
The scenes appear in the movie in a different order…the part where the dad gets up (and the mom tells him to sit down) actually happens before the dance begins. As they’re dancing, you get to see a couple of cuts to the dad where you can just see how proud he’s become of his daughter. Great acting by the late Jerry Orbach.
There're actually some people on this planet who haven't seen Dirty Dancing??? Come on, I've seen this movie at least a thousand times! Yes, meet the parents lol! The dad is not happy with this relationship but you have to see the movie to know why!!! Haha! "Sit down, Jack!" LOL All the soundtrack in this movie is huge! Even Patrick Swayze recorded a song he wrote, "she's like the wind"
Patrick was a professional dancer, actor, singer and song writer. You might want to check out his movies “Point Break”, also starring Keanu Reeves, and “Ghost”.
I watch this movie everytime it comes in TV (that means approximately 3 - 4 times per year😂) . Don't know how often I have seen it until now. ^^ The soundtrack from the movie is great, you should react to "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze, "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen, "Overload" by Zappacosta, "Yes" by Merry Clayton or "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes.
Cynthia Rhodes, who was married to Richard Marx, played Patrick Swayze's dance partner in the movie. She was in Flashdance and also played John Travolta's dance partner/lover in Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever. Staying Alive is a movie that you MUST watch if you're still under your rock, after you watch the first part. It was directed by Sylvester Stallone and John Travolta was pure eye candy and his jazz ballet dancing was glorious. Saturday Night Fever puts you in the 70's disco era and the sequel is set in the 80's.
“Right Time Of The Night” was Jennifer Warnes’ first hit back in 1977. This was the third song she was involved with that won an Oscar. In 1979,she sang “It Goes Like It Goes” from the movie “Norma Rae”. In 1982,her duet with Joe Cocker “Up Where We Belong”,was from “An Officer And A Gentleman”.
5:07 This part always blow me away, so uplifting and upbeat, the dancers with Patrick Swayze leading them walking straight on the camera direction with very bold and sensual way, love this part so much, always stops my heart for a moment, love it! ❤❤❤❤❤
When Patrick Swayze was 18, he suffered a major injury to his left leg during one of the final football games of his senior year. While he had been leaning toward choosing Gridiron over the arts, the incident led him to transfer his energy to gymnastics - and used dance as a method of therapy to strengthen his body. RIP to a talented beautiful man, he is missed in the movie world.
Others have probably already mentioned this, but Bill Medley (along with Bobby Hatfield) was one-half of the Righteous Brothers duo, who had big hits in the 1960s with "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' " and "Unchained Melody" (which was featured prominently in a sexy scene from the 1990 movie "Ghost," also starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, who won the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role).
Bill Medly the man singing is one of the Righteous Brothers. Very big in the 60's If you haven't listened to them yet start with You've Lost That Loving Feeling. Great reaction to this video!
This film came out when I was 15 but didn't get it in the UK till 88 now you get films in the UK at the same time as usa but before internet, sky etc you had to wait. I instantly got a crush on Patrick swayze so lovely and talented still upset he's gone rip🙏🌈. The film and soundtrack are worth checking out especially Patrick singing she's like the wind it's very good for a non trained singer.
Wow. I assumed everyone has seen this movie. Patrick Swayze grew up as a ballet dancer, much to the chagrin of the macho characters that he portrayed. Jennifer Grey is the daughter of Joel Grey, the emcee in "Cabaret". Another must watch movie.
Just TODAY realized the Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers was part of the duo singing. He is wonderful in the song You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling.
Saw it 40 times♥️ i still love it. This movie came out in Belgium in 1988😱Top music in the movie👌👌😉 Patrick used to dance with his wife, you can find it on yt.
Such a great song from the movie. Along with "Hungry Eyes", you know it's from Dirty Dancing from the moment you hear it. It shows how wonderful and enjoying dancing can be.
This scene and the scene with "Hungary Eyes" shows you that dancing can be so beautiful and so sexy, so sensual and so seductive that it can and will take you to another world.
I was 11 when I saw this lol, every woman from my generation loves it. You HAVE to watch the movie now! There’s so much good music in it from the 60s (where the film is set). I don’t want to say anything about this scene or the film will be spoiled for you.
You need to watch this movie, Dereck, it's a classic!!! You'll enjoy yourself, have a lot of fun, great soundtrack and..what's not to love about Patrick Swayze?!!
That's mom and dad. Also, that final jump and lift is very significant because in the movie they rehearsed it over and over and it was very hard for her. So, when she finally did it it was amazing!
Bill Medley was one half of the Righteous Brothers having hits from the early 60s probably the biggest was You've lost that loving feeling, Jennifer Warnes was no stranger to soundtrack hits, she sang with Joe Cocker on Up where we belong, she has had an equally long career both as a backing vocalist and recording as a solo artist
It´s funny to hear you talk about chemistry because is widely known that Patrick and Jennifer hated each other. You should try She´s like the wind - a song from the same movie sung by Patrick Swayze himself.
I was around 14 when Dirty Dancing released. I wanted to be Baby so bad. Major crush on Patrick Swayze. It's a bit of a teen movie, but it's worth seeing. At the very least you'll have the context to this dance and song.

One of my fav ❤movies - watch it, Derek. Soundtrack was fantastic. Watched a doc about this, heard the demo - imagine doubles for the dancing was considered but the director said nope - actors who can really dance. Movie was set in 1963.
Really? Never seen Dirty Dancing? This movie was the 1st one that brought my friends and me to the movie theater over and over again. Alone the music and the dance scene. We all were in love with Patrick. 💖💃❤️ And imagine that Patrick couldn’t stand his co star Jennifer Grey in real life.
The song is being sung by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley, of the Righteous Brothers, 20 years after You've Lost That Loving Feeling. You did a reaction to the Righteous Brothers. He and Jennifer won a Grammy Award for the song.
Jesús, que recuerdos por Dios, que aGradable verte en esta reacción,🤗🤗🤗🤗, gracias. La banda sonora de la película es buenísima, con grandes temas... gracias de nuevo.
So I’ll admit I’ve never watched any of your reactions before, but I love how your jaw hit the floor. Lol glad you enjoyed! Truly is one of my favorite movies, you should watch it!!!
Now you realize why your mom likely loved this movie. It is parents in back. Broadway stars Jerry Orbach (Det. Lennie Briscoe from Law & Order) and Kelly Bishop (Mrs. Emily Gilmore from gilmore girls). Also, The tall girl that was talking to father near end is Cynthia Rhodes (lead singer of Animotion.)
Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers sang this song. Patrick was a dancer before he was an ass kicker. His mother was a dance teacher and choreographer.
The guy who sang this is Bill Medley he was the other half of the righteous Brothers. I think you reacted to two of their songs unchained Melody was Bobby's song and then they did a Duo which was one of many but it was You've Lost that Loving Feeling back in 1964/1965. Sadly back in the day, blacks had their radio and they would not play Righteous Brothers because they were white and the white stations would not play them because they said they were black music. So Unchained Melody even though it was a huge hit with people never got played on the radio that much and only became a classic hit when ghost in 1990 came out the movie. And then Bill medley records I've had the Time of My Life had no idea that what it was for that I was going to be on the soundtrack of Dirty Dancing. He goes away for about a month comes back and it's number one in the world. Just find it so weird that these guys need something in the 60s became popular in the late '80s and 1990.
I've lost count the number of times I've watched this movie. My sister (R.I.P.) lived in Michigan & I live in Tn. Whenever it came on we'd call each other "it's on channel...." & watched it together over phone. You really need to watch the movie & you will see why dad was shooting him daggers. Also listen to the song Patrick Swayze wrote & sung in the movie "She's like the wind" beautiful song
Dirty Dancing, a "must-see" movie. Cannot count how often I saw it...maybe 100 times? And I still love this movie!
Bill Medley was 1/2 of the Righteous Brothers. The other 1/2 was Bobby Hatfield.
moovie Fame, too
..and you are man ! lol wow, cool to see also men like it! ;o)
@Guenther K. I have the DVD and watch it A LOT!
Nobody put's baby in a corner.
RIP Patrick Swayze.
The movie and soundtrack are timeless.
"put's"? Quite an original take on the English language you've got...
100% agree! And Patrick Swayze actually picked all the songs from this movie. Amazing. RIP Patrick!
My favorite movie of all time that Patrick was in. R.I.P. Patrick. They were magic together.
It always makes me smile when you "discover" a huge classic worldwide hit! 😂 Completely normal given how young you are! Now you have to watch that movie!! Totally worth it!
Every woman want to be baby for this scene...aaah
Also totally relevant to today, given a 2022 USA Supreme Court ruling and the consequences of that ruling for desperate women that just took woman's rights back 60 years, right around the time this movie took place, when abortion was illegal.

I literally grew up with this. My mom literally studied dance and martial arts, and this was one of her favorite movies.
Patrick Swayze was a professional dancer...so sad he's gone. Me and my sisters watched this at the movies when it came out and I remember trying to take a picture of Patrick from the screen...😅
Wow! Yes I can’t believe you’ve never seen Dirty Dancing😳 You need to see it ASAP.
Un film à voir et à revoir 🥰🥰🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Patrick Swayze's mom Patsy Swayze directed and owned a ballet and Jazz Dance Company studio in Texas that's where he learned to dance.
Ha ha all the girls knew it was a guilty pleasure. I had the soundtrack….on cassette. 😎
Patrick is so 🔥🔥🔥 and a trained dancer…ballet.
One of the best songs ever in my opinion
Legendary Bill medley from the righteous brothers.
Dereck ! Watch the movie!!!!!!!!!

I adored Cynthia Rhodes. I felt she never got enough credit to as a triple threat.
Staying Alive is also so underrated.
It's kind of a basic feel good movie, but it goes beyond with the music and dance. Really worth watching.
@Dereck Reacts please react to Patrick Swayze - She's Like The Wind. This music is Wonderfull.
Bill Medley is baritone half of Righteous Brothers. You reacted to them once upon a time. 😄
Always in awe of Patrick Swayze dancing skills, so much work, such a beautiful thing to see. Grace and fluidity 😍
Un film que j'ai regardé plus de 130 fois. Patrick Swayze était tellement formidable...
Patrick Swayze 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 Et la phrase culte : "Nobody puts Baby on the corner" 😉
And: "I carried a water melon." ^^

The woman in white who stands up with an attitude is the choreographer of this movie. I adore her role in this movie. ❤️

The monument Patrick Swayze !! I miss him so much ...
Patrick was a professional dancer. His mother has a dance academy.

My favorite part too
This movie made you want to get up and dance . Jennifer Greys dad is an actor. Singer and dancer. Back in the day.
Fact: Both Patrick Swayze and Jerry Orbach(Baby's Father) tragically died of Pancreatic Cancer. May they rest in peace.🙏🙏

Dirty Dancing came out when I was a junior in high school and I think I saw it 10 times in the theater. So good!
Me too, but six times ;)
You have to watch Dirty Dancing. I think you will love it.

Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes singing this timeless classic.
