Bill always kept the swag. Bill, still bringing the Blue Eyed Soul.
She also sang Up Where We Belong with Joe Cocker which was on the Officer and A Gentleman soundtrack, and she won a Grammy and an Oscar for that.
They are the original singers for Dirty Dancing. They won the Academy Award, Grammy Award, and Golden Globe Award in 1987. The movie takes place in the early 60s so the nostalgic elements would be there. Congratulations on one year and all of the changes in your life!❤
It's amazing how well his voice held up from his days from the Righteous Brothers. What a talent.
This song was a hit world-wide. It won a Grammy, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award in the US. Bill Medley sang about 30 movie theme songs and a couple for TV series. Both of the Righteous Brothers had solo careers but Bill's was more prolific and he is still singing live at the age of 82. Bobby sadly passed in 2003...hours before he and Bill were to go on stage for a concert.
If Bill Medley ever growled "Hey baby!" at me I'd swoon! What a great baritone!
Warnes was from Orange County, CA, the girlfriend of Mason Williams (who wrote the hit Classical Gas and wrote for the Smothers Brothers show). Warnes act/sing in the West Coast company of the Broadway Hit "Hair." She then proceeded to single in several Oscar-nominated songs (duets) for famous movies. She also had a hit single in the 1970s that was pop-country #1 and her 2nd Grammy, "Right Time of the Night." She won a Grammy for "Up Where We Belong" (duet with Joe Cocker), the song from "Officer and a Gentleman" hit movie in early 1980s with Richard Gere. She became Hollywood's favorite singer on 1980s movies.
Bill actually lost his singing voice for a time. Fortunately, he rested it up and finally trained it, and himself, to sing again. The other Righteous Brother was Bobby Hatfield. This song came out in 1987 when he was 47 years old. He is now 83. Bobby is no longer with us.
Bobby was a awesome
Bobby Hatfield'was the other Righteous Brother . They were still working together. In fact the movies in the 80s with Top Gun ( You've Lost that Lovin'Feelin), Dirty Dancing, and n 1990 Ghost ( Unchained Melody) brought them renewed popularity. Bill was 47 at that time.
Back then, individual artists coming together for a single was a regular thing. Happy channel b-day, congrats on the baby and all the stuff!!
Congratulations Britt on 200k subscribers on your channel's 1st anniversary!! 🎉🥳🍾🥂 I can only imagine the effort it took. I hope you, your new baby, and family are well! Peace ✌ and love ❤
Awesome song and loved the movie. I can't believe I've been following you for a whole year. ❤Congrats on your 1 year anniversary🎉🥳🥳 Jeanette, New Zealand.
2:09 Yes. They are the original singers
Bill Medley won his only Grammy Award for this duet with Jennifer Warnes.
Shortly thereafter, Medley’s record label approached him and asked him to reunite with Bobby Hatfield to re-record an album of their old hits. Medley and Hatfield wanted to record new songs, but they did what the record label wanted, and that album was a decent-selling hit. After that, The Righteous Brothers were asked to re-record “Unchained Melody” in 1990 for the “Ghost” Soundtrack Album. The remake became another big hit for the duo. The Righteous Brothers were then regulars on the Oldies concert tour circuit until Bobby Hatfield’s death in 2003. Fortunately, he lived long enough to be inducted with Bill Medley into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Jennifer sings another famous duet with Joe Cocker called Up Where We Belong
Jennifer Warnes - beautiful voice. This song won the Grammy in 1987. My fav from her is "Right time of the Night" released in 1976 and went to #1 on Billboards Easy Listening Chart.
Bill and Bobby were together, touring part of the year and appearing in Vegas for part of the year, that was their pattern about 1982 until 2003 when Bobby died. Apart and together before then a couple of times. Always friends. Both were born in 1940. Both did solo stuff ongoing.
Bill also took 5-6 years off of singing completely after his ex-wife was murdered by an intruder. Very sad story. He used that time to bring up their son, as a stay at home dad. He said it was the best thing he ever did.
@@LaurelT1948 That's also the time period he completely lost his voice (1976). Doctors said it was gone. By chance, he ran into the choir teacher from his high school; he worked with him for 2 years...2 lessons a day to get his voice back.
@@Aurora-tp3dy Inspiring! I love his book.
@@LaurelT1948 Bobby's children say he lies a lot about Bobby in that book.
Britt, congrats on your first anniversary on YT. You're right, this is the appropriate song to react to on this special day.
The Righteous Brothers broke up after the 1960's but reunited in the 1970's and had a hit record in 1974 called Rock and Roll Heaven which you need to hear. They continued to tour together off and on until sadly Bobby Hatfield died from a drug overdose in 2003. The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Two dance movies you need to watch are Taps with Gregory Hines made in 1981 and That's Dancing made in 1985 which is about the history of dancing in movie musicals. . Being a dancer you will enjoy both of them. I really enjoy watching your video reactions.
something i absolutely loved, but can't recall the name of, was a movie with gregory hinds and ?mighel barishnekov? (and, yes, i know i must've butchered the spelling of his name). i absolutely loved that movie, especially the bits where they danced together.
@@jucadvgv3449 You're talking about White Knights from 1985. And his name is spelled Mikhail Baryshnikov. That movie is a blast from the past!
He absolutely did not die of an overdose due to the fact that no one overdoses from a trace amount of anything.
Bobby was in serious need of bypass surgery (95% blockage, a condition caused by genetics and diet).
They broke up in 1968; they got back together in '74. Then broke up again in 1976. In 1982 they got back together and stayed together until 2003.
One of my favorite songs. The song dedicated to my late husband. 40 years of the "time of my life." Love you forever Joe!
I've been waiting and looking forward to your reaction to this CLASSIC ! "(I've Had) The Time of My Life"won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy!
Congratulations on year 1. You're doing an awesome job! Keep it going 👍
And touring at 83 yrs old. Saw him with his new RB partner at a show in Falsview Casino in November 1223 in Ontario Great show.❤
This song has just a hint of the islands to it. Hard not to smile when you hear it. This goes in the set list with "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang.
Always get chills. "Dirty Dancing" never gets old even though I do. Jennifer Warnes is a prolific songwriter. Check out her "Famous Blue Raincoat" album.
Jennifer Warnes wrote and performed many songs for movie soundtracks in the 80's. She wrote this song and "Up where we belong" from Officer and a Gentlemen.
Written by Franke Previte, John Nicola and Don Mamkewitz
Congratulations on the anniversary. I hope you have many more
And thank you and congratulations for one year of 😅 your beautiful channel!!
Happy Anniversary on your channel and continued success. I enjoy your reactions.
Jennifer Warnes is a fantastic singer but never got the adulation she deserves. You should watch Black and White Night with Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen and a whole host of performers that you may have never heard before but are considered greats. Jennifer is one of the girl backup singers along with Bonnie Raitt and K D Lang. It's and entire album and is fantastic.
Warnes was offered her first recording contract at 7 and was a nun for a while after high school. Her background is very interesting.
Congrats girl! Great channel you deserve it all! ❤ 🎉 Great song, great live performance ❤
Congrats on the year and subscribers! Impressive! Your charisma is the key. Classic tune of two great singers. Does "search through every door" mean they hooked up a lot before? 😀
Congrats on 1year! Love your channel!
It's Top of the Pops. It was an iconic weekly show in the UK from the 1960s to the 2000s where you would see pretty much every singer and group from around the world that was in the UK top 40 at that time perform
WOW! 200,000!!!!! Proud of you Britt! 😉
198k subscribers is all because of YOU GIRL! It is your gift that draws people to you.
The Righteous Brothers were an active singing duo in the 60’s and 70’s then became inactive for several years. They reunited in 1981 and continued singing together until Bobby Hatfield’s death in 2003. Then Bill started singing with Bucky Heard .
I can’t hear this song without thinking Dirty Dancing! I visited the Lake Lure NC filming location of the movie about 2 years after the movie was filmed. This location was where the employee cabins were, Johnnys cabin, the dirty dancing cabin where Baby carried the watermelon and where the final dance scene was filmed dancing to this song. Baby’s bridge and steps were there too. Unfortunately a fire destroyed all the cabins and it’s a gated housing community now. But I have pics!
Bobby Hatfield died in 2003. Bill Medley revived the Righteous Brothers in 2016, with Bucky Heard. They are still preforming.
Warnes also did the song 'Up Where We Belong' from the movie 'An Officer and a Gentleman'
There was a time between the late-1960s and the early-1970s when The Righteous Brothers broke up. During that time, Bill Medley was doing residencies in Las Vegas with Elvis Presley. They became good friends. Years later, Medley told a story here on UA-cam, about the times when he was performing his show, Presley would walk out across the stage area, and the audience would go absolutely bonkers. When the hotel manager found out, he encouraged Presley to do it more regularly, because it was boosting the ticket sales for Medley’s shows. :-)
If you really want to be blown away, react to Bill Medley singing Brown Eyed Woman with backup by the Blossoms. Fasten your seat belt.
Jennifer Warren is primarily a song writer and she wrote this song. Not sure on years but Bobby Hatfield struggled with drug addiction and died. They had stopped preforming because of his drug issues.
This definitely played on pop radio! You should listen to the Righteous Brothers’ song Rock and Roll Heaven. It pays tribute to the talents that had passed up to the release of the song!!
Jennifer Warnes had a few of her own hits in the late 1970's but had become known for singing movie themes and duets for movies. Some include Dirty Dancing with Bill of My Life" and before that "It Goes Like It Goes" from Sally Field's Best Actress Oscar winning movie "Norma Rae" and a det with Joe Cocker "Up Where We Belong" from "An Officer and a Gentleman."
Jennifer Warnes did an album of Leonard Cohen covers called "Famous Blue Raincoat" that is phenomenal. She used to be one of his backup "angels." The single was "First We Take Manhattan," although I am partial to "Joan of Arc" and the title song.
I have a vinyl copy
You should hear this song with Bill and his daughter.....awesome
Bill and Bobby were the Righteous Brothers during:
1962-1971, 1974-1976, 1981-2003 (when Hatfield passed away on Nov. 5)
This is a fantastic song with these two great singers. Jennifer Warnes had kind of a 60s Folk Singer vibe about her that is so pleasing to the ears. Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield would go solo for a while then get back together a couple more times. Check out the Righteous Brothers video "Dream On" from the 70s when they're in their bell bottom jeans, open shirts (Holy Chit!) and sporting sideburns and meat on their bones. My idea of "Sex on a Stick"! The song itself is just beautiful, probably the most haunting I've heard from them. When you check out the chests, especially the little Swede's, make sure you have a padded mat on the floor.
This song won the CDEMYY word for the best movie song of 1987. You bet it is great.
Congratulations! Been more than a year now but I'm always a day late & dollar short. It goes without saying that you're a beautiful woman, so I won't say that. Intelligent, sharp, playful, open minded. Thank the Creator for song!
Rock & Roll Heaven
I can always hear this anytime great stuff 😊
(Applause) Congratulations for your anniversary, and Best Thoughts for You and yours for the New Year...
Fun fact, the song was written with Donna Summer in mind but she turned it down as she didn't like the name of the movie. Bill Medley turned the song down twice because his daughter was due to be born. Then Jennifer Warnes said she would sign onto the project as long as she could record with Bill Medley. He agreed.
🎈🌹Happy 1 yr Anniversary Brit!!🌹🎈 Sadly Bobby passed in a car accident. That why they weren't together anymore. If you want to see them without their suits watch the video to their song Rock and Roll Heaven. It's a great song❤
Bobby had a heart attack.
@@Aurora-tp3dy Almost totally blocked arteries.
Oh the movie Dirty Dancing!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There is a video on UA-cam of Bill and his daughter singing this duet at her wedding way back a number of years ago. Its really cute.
And with the inciteful comment... "His voice is so Deep!"... I've pulled the plug, young lady. Best of Luck moving forward!!
Congratulations on a year of UA-cam reactions!
Yes they are.
It was the perfect song for that movie and have you ever listened to Michael McDonald and Patti LaBelle singing together.
Happy anniversary!!! 🎉🎉 Thank you so much for sharing your time and thoughts. ❤
Bill and Bobby were together from '62 to '68. Bill went solo and Bobby retained the Righteous Brothers name as well as performing solo. Jimmy Walker of The Knickerbockers joined him as a new iteration of The Righteous Brothers. They Released one album together, and Bobby released one solo album. Bill and Bobby reunited in '74 and released several albums. Bill also continued making solo albums later and doing a fair amount for movie and tv soundtracks. They continued to tour together and play clubs in Vegas, etc.
Beyond Beautiful ❤️🔥
🎉 so glad I found you.
They were the original singers for the song which was written for the film as was Hungry Eyes performed by Eric Carmen.
Dirty Dancing
Jennifer Warnes... For a Solo Hit, you might try "It's the right time of the night (for making love)"... An "Easy Listening" Staple.
BTW, "NO ONE puts Britt in the corner"! hehehe if you know, you know! hehehe
Just found you and been watching for the past 2 days! Loving your reactions. I subscribed and recommended you out there. I'm happy to catch up and continue to see new content.
Congrats, God Bless!
Bill was a friend of Elvis. He tells funny stories about it.
Thank you for this unforgettable song!💚
Jennifer Warnes sang another duet with Joe Crocker "Up Where We Belong" on the film for An Officer And A Gentelman
jennifer warnes also did up where we belong with joe cocker from the movie an officer and a gentleman another great song
While on tour Bill Medley’s wife was killed. Bill stopped singing for awhile to raise his two sons.
My sister is 17 months older than I and we grew up in the 80’s & 90’s.
Because Mo was older, she controlled the tv, so I am VERY acquainted with Dirty Dancing as well as many musicals & the movie 8 Seconds.
Wow Happy Anniversary looking forward for more great reactions
Bill Medley is still on tour at 83 years old (born September 1940) performing the song with his daughter McKenna, who was born shortly before the song was recorded for the movie.
Bill said that he almost did not do the song. In various interviews, Bill Medley said that he promised his wife to remain with her near her due date (she was carrying McKenna during this pregnancy). He said that he was suspicious of the movie title Dirty Dancing (said the title sounded like one for a porn movie). He also said that he did not want to travel to NY to record the song (he ended up recording it in Los Angeles). What changed his mind was being told that he would be singing with Jennifer Warnes. Bill Medley liked the duet that she did with Joe Cocker for Up Where We Belong.
About the eyes: Both Bill Medley and WIll Farrow have what appear to be "hooded eyes."
The version of Unchained Melody by the other Righteous Brother, Bobby Hatfield, was released in 1966 (this song had been around since about 1955 or so and performed by various recording artists before Bobby's version). Unchained Melody was pressed on the B-side of the 45 RPM record (B-side songs were pressed on the back side of a record with a song that was to be promoted as a hit, the A-side). Unchained Melody ended up becoming a major hit instead, which was unexpected back then.
I have a long memory of the Righteous Brothers where I remembered my mother listening to their songs on AM radio during those "Black and White" radio station days. I remembered listening to not only the Righteous Brothers on this AM station, but also the Everly Brothers, not to mention Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons who sang "Sherry" to give you an idea about what radio was like back then; radio changed during the 1970s because of the emergence of FM stations for music). I was about 9 years old at the time Lovin' Feeling became a massive hit for the Righteous Brothers and about 10 or 11 years old when Unchained Melody was performed on The Andy Williams Show by Bobby Hatfield. Our famiily also watched the Righteous on evening TV shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show, The Bob Hope Show, The Andy Williams Show, Sonny and Cher (Cher was a backing vocalist on Lovin' Feeling during that time), and especially Shindig! back in the day.
Love this song!! Jennifer sang Up Where We Belong with Joe Cocker for Officer and a Gentleman!! They are both awesome!!
I like the way you react. You are willing to listen to and react to all genres
ua-cam.com/video/dlsx9tNA5tM/v-deo.html
Congrats! You are wonderful to watch and listen to and your reactions are fabulous, hilarious , so entertaining!
Keep it up:)
Cheers from Juneau ✨Alaska 💫
Congrats Britt! I've come and gone, but I'm back cos you're such a riot with your smile, and laugh, and well true be told, you're a beautiful lady 😍 and I look forward to you doing more reactions to my compatriot Stan Walker!!! So blessings to you, your new bubba, and your very lucky hubby!!! 🎉🎊👏🎈😁 Thanks Britt!!! ❤ from Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿
The baritone guy from the Backstreet Boys - I mean, the Righteous Brothers😂. If you haven’t heard I Just Wanna Make Love To You by them, Bill does most of the vocals and it’s blues badassery.
Congratulations!
they did go solo until Dick Clark got them together to sing Rock and Roll Heaven for his show. They reunited after that until Bobby' untimely death
Awesome reaction.
BIll Medley and Bobby Hatfield collaborated with other artist during their careers. Bill had trouble with his voice for a time in the early 80's but got it back by about 86. Bill i snow retired and, in his 80's. Sadly Bobby has passed away.
Congratulations Britt 🎈
congratulations🥳👍🎉🎂 on a year!
Yes, they sang the song in the movie.
EVERYONE was getting down. That’s why this feels like it does.
Have you listened to Rock and Roll Heaven, with Bobby and Billy back in 1974. Evelution in looks too.
Happy 1st Year Anniversary!
Great reaction love the song.Happy 1 year anniversary 🎊 and to your new baby.
Dirty Dancing. Try a song from the movie, Major League. "Most of all you." Good song from Bill Medley.
his parteners name was Bobby Hatfield
Congratulations Britt!!! We connect with you and it actually feels like longer than a year. I’m typing this and it doesn’t sound complimentary, however I mean like we feel like old friends. I been watching a lot of political and news videos lately and I see so much hate and then I watch you and I feel love, kindness, happiness, understanding, all that should be good in the world and life. I love you and your soul, it’s a testament to why you have almost 200k subscribers. Ok, now that I said my say about how great you are and how much you bring to us in your videos, on to the song and Bill and Jennifer. To me Bill sang with a manly voice and Jennifer an angelic, although she did have a bit of a gritty part. I was 22 when this came out and every girl loved the movie and song. At the time I have to admit it wasn’t my style, although I probably crushed on Jennifer Grey, the actress from the movie, for a minute. Great duets sure was a thing in the 70’s and 80’s. I actually like Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong as Jennifer Waren’s better duet with Joe Cocker. Although today’s song reaction is a better musical arranged song. We can’t lose with either song. Congrats again Britt and keep bringing us joy. I feel if people just watched your videos there would be happier people in the world.
Congrats Britt for your one year anniverary from another Britt. Every time you talk to yourself with your name in a video I'm bizarrely convinced that you are addressing me personally and I have a weird moment. It's fun though. Keep up the good work and I agree with you. Most of the time. LOL. We aren't the exact same Britt after all.
They are the original original singers of the song,. Bill Medley wrote the song in 1987 for Dirty Dancing, but it has a definite 1960's vibe which suited the movie which was supposed to have taken place in the summer of 1963 before John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Bill didn't write it. That was Franke Previte, John DeNicola and Donald Markowitz.
Fantastic rendition. Thanks for reacting Britt!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jennifer also sings with Joe Cocker. Up Where We Belong. From the movie An Officer and a Gentleman.
yes they were the singers
Jennifer sang with Joe cocker,up where we belong. Check that one out.
