- Instructions for installing a MAGLOCK King Pin, which allows you to separate an AR-15 upper and lower receiver by a quarter inch, enough to allow the MAGLOCK to release the magazine, but preventing the upper from flopping forward on the front takedown pin.
Thanks for posting this! I installed gen 4 and kingpin with no drama. Thanks!!!!
Just what I was looking for! Thanks!
Thanks man…AR Maglock website video had absolutely no audio. You had music and were absolutely by far more detail oriented than the company. Well done!
Hows the ar maglock gen 4 doing yall does it lock your bolt back everytime
@@brycelocs2386 I did the install on an AR build for buddy. I don’t think he’s torture tested it yet. I’ll ask him and get back to you.
will this work for a smith and wesson m&p15 sport 2
Do you have any trouble separating the upper from the lower? I also bite my nails and its damn near impossible to push the detent back with just my nail
Why remove the buffer spring?
Are there any lowers this will NOT work with?
Which version 1-4 is the best and why? Thanks
I installed the kingpin, however it wont open the action when I press the button. Anybody having the same issue???
I am a Left-handed shooter, do you know if the Kingpin can be installed on the Right Side of the lower and be actuated by my left thumb?
@martinz1540 No because of the detent.
Hi is the detent spring the same as a regular any other detent spring? I lost my detent spring that came with KingPin.
Hopefully you got it figured out, but if you haven't, my opinion is that the stock detent spring is stronger than the kingpin one. It makes dissassembly a little harder.
I dont need to purchase the buffer or anything else other than the kingpin? I have the Gen2 Maglock.
Bolt will then stay back to clear? With the gen 2 and kingpin combo?
I got the kingpin in but now it's just stuck in there... wtf
LOL!!!
How is it set up where when you press the kingpin it releases the mag? I have only seen videos where you have to press the kingpin, then Press the mag release.
You gotta get the gen 3 ( allows u to simultaneously open the receiver and drop the mag ) the gen 4 you have open the receiver and press the mag release to drop the mag
So once you install the king pin it also locks the mag or do I have to get something to lock the mag as well?
A year later, but for anyone else reading this, you also need the AR Maglock device to lock the mag in place when the upper and lower are connected. The Kingpin separates the upper and lower just far enough for the maglock to operate and drop the mag when the rifle is disassembled.
@@jdhalvoQuestion, so you need the kingpin specifically and not just a regular takedown pin correct?
@@jdhalvoand btw I’m referring to the gen4 AR maglock.
So do you have to completely remove the kingpin in order to disassemble the upper and lower for cleaning?
Yes
If only they could make captive kingpin it would be perfect!!!
FYI the easiest way to get it in against the detent is with a scalpel blade (a good thing for any home first aid kit).
But a knife blade works quite well also.
If your careful you can use your fingernail. However I wouldn’t try depending on that.
Please make the kingpin captive???
Smart move kid that way the installer can snap a blade where is the top going to land
@@erazco6568 snapping a blade by a detent spring??? I don’t use blades that cheap!!!
Small flat screwdriver.
Why didn't you show how to put the stock spring back with the spring and detent as well
You can’t figure that out ? 😂
I need help, I'm unable to press on the Kinpin at all to separate the upper from the lower when i tighten down the castel nut nice and snug... Only way the kingpin will work is when i losen up the castel nut a bit to where the buffer to is a bit movable which i'm sure is not normal.? Does anyone have this same issue if so any advices on helping me fix this would really appreciate.!!
Did you get an answer to this????
@@eddgeetres Yeah i fixed the issue. Instead of using the long detent spring that came with the Kingpin i use the original spring that was already in my gun which is a lot shorter and it works perfect now!!
Wish you showed what depress the detent is, lol. I break things
Dont forget to take out the firing pin
It’s a bit disappointing that zero instructions come with the product. At the very least, you should direct customers to either a website and/or UA-cam video link if you are not going to include a simple instruction sheet. Also, in THIS video, you fail to remind folks to reinstall the buffer and spring. On a personal preference matter, I could do without the music. I would prefer dialogue during the installation process. All that being said, your PRODUCT is excellent. I would highly recommend the MAGLOCK King Pin to others. Hope you will consider bringing your instructions/video up to the same level as your product.
Was the music really necessary?
How about you post a video for everyone without music since you have a problem with this completely free video?
It really tied the whole thing together 🤘🤘🤘
I don’t like it I prefer the juggernaut
The most difficult part of the installation you cover with your fat hand.
Is there a video on how to remove this crap? I've had nothing but problems.
man, please lose the music
