  • I received a lot of requests for a demo of me filling down the Hogue freedom Fighter Pin. I know for most people this is pretty straight forward but I can appreciate people who want a tutorial for every step of the way. This video should answer any questions you've had about how to approach the situation. Good Luck.

    If you do break the thicker of the two drill bits, the length between the tip of the bit and the stopper is exactly 1-1/8”.
    Go old school: Get yourself a #29 drill bit (3.454-millimeter drill bit), measure exactly 1-1/8” from the tip, and wrap a piece of electric tape around the bit at that exact spot to stop you from drilling past it.

      I have drill stop collars from a woodworking supply place that work better than tape.
      But do you use a drill press for this? Seems iffy trying to drill that far into the lower by hand while trying to ensure the correct angle.

      @@arisnersissian5374 the factory installed Juggernaut kits replace the mil spec bolt catch with a different mechanism, so you have to remove that and install a new bolt catch to take advantage of the Hogue kit. Well worth the trouble of the roll pin to do so, juggernaut button with the hogue kit shaved down is definitely the best system I've tried. Glad to see that's how LWRC is shipping rifles. I'd have a hard time believing a juggernaut lower would have come with the hogue system installed, unless he bought it used.

      as long as it's a Milspec lower, I know some brands have custom lowers to accommodate for a proprietary ambi bolt release such as LWRC. I have worked on one and had to do a bit of outside the box thinking to get it to work. So it's possible but I would make sure to take a look at the path the hole is being drilled before actually going through with it. I have Phase 5/BAD lever ambi bolt release on my milspec lower and have no problems.

    Do you have instructions and parts list for installing kingpin? The stock ca Franklin armory doesn’t have a castle nut. You just buy carbine buffer tube? How hard was it to remove stock buffer tube?

    • @arisnersissian5374
      @arisnersissian5374  Рік тому +1

      Stock buffer tube took a bit of elbow grease, and I used a heat gun. I tried to use pipe grips but ended up shredding them due to the texture on the CA7 buffer tube. The buffer tube you see on the pistol came with the stabilizing brace. As for instruction on the kingpin I think there are some videos online on how to install them.

    Did you have any trouble with drilling your Franklin armory lower? I drilled mine using the jig and it drilled through the side wall of the lower. I jb weld it and tried adjusting the angle to move over to the right some and it won’t budge. I even test fitted it on my other lowers and it still looks like the jig is out of place and will drill through the side wall. Any suggestion or help would be appreciated.

    • @arisnersissian5374

      If the jig is fitting in properly this shouldn't happen. You should be able to push it in and hear a click. I would maybe contact Hogue and replace your jig if you think it may be off alignment. Also are you using the bit provided? with the stopper? I had tried to drill without it once and ended up drilling through the bottom, I was able to fix it by using the one of the screws provided and loctite to fill the hole on the bottom.

    Interesting, I didn’t have to shave the pin down at all. It works perfectly with the kingpin. I installed on 3 different Lowers. It even works on the ambi bolt release lowers. Just remember to remove the ambi button and spring before drilling otherwise you will damage the ambi spring that actuates the button. Tip: Follow the instructions. If you follow it 100% you can have it done simple. The large drill bit comes with a ring stop to keep you from over drilling. Secure the lower in the vice and clamp the jig to the lower with hand vice plastic ones. The drilling part is the easiest . I honestly don’t see how you can mess it up. Take your time and get all metal shavings out and debur the hole by running the drill bit in and out multiple times. Don’t forget to lube the drill bits and 5 turns is all you really need with the 8-32 tap . The instructions says 4 turns but 5 gets the set screw in a little deeper so you don’t have to shave the pin. Should just work with the king pin . I’m able to lock the bolt back and push king pin and release mag. No shaving necessary.
    Also before putting the jig on the lower be sure to have your take down pin pushed in. If you are unsure about your lower you can use the tap guide and shine a flashlight down the hole with the jig installed and you will see a light circle. If you can see 90% of the circle being shined on the lower receiver then you are good to go and start drilling. Drill fast okay.
    Once you finish the install you never have to remove it. If you want to go back to being free then loosen the mag release button 2 to 3 turns and you’re back to hell yea mode! That’s all.

    • @xi-deadshot-ix5838
      @xi-deadshot-ix5838 4 місяці тому

      The set screw may make the pin recessed more but it will stick out that much further in the mag release slot thus further impeding the path of the mag release button. The tolerances between your BCG and buffer tube is what will determine if you need to shave the pin or not. Unless they have thousands of rounds through them and are well worn in they’re generally going to be really tight unless it’s a really low budget build.

      I would not do that, what you can do is drill it for 1 sec to scuff the lower and see where the hole will end up. As long as it's not damaging the cavity of the lower you're fine. I followed the instructions every time and have had no issues. The only thing to look out for is if you don't have a milspec lower you may not be able to drill down correctly.
