    **UPDATE UPDATE**
    NOTE: I am not a lawyer, I am not giving you legal advice. If you need legal advice please speak to an attorney. With that said,
    Keep in mind that "fixed magazine" rifles are limited to 10 round magazines only. If you insert a magazine on a rifle that is, under law in a fixed magazine configuration, you will be in possession of an unregistered "assault weapon" please don't ne that guy.
    This is a "fixed magazine" setup and you must be careful. This is a setup if you want your rifle to look like a standard configuration ar15 in looks only. Eventhough you can legally own magazines with capacities greater then 10 rounds, do not put them in a "fixed magazine" rifle or a Registered "Bullet Button Assault Weapon"(BBRAW) here is the current "assault weapon" definition based on generic characteristics,
    (a)Notwithstanding Section 12276, “assault weapon” shall also mean any of the following:
    (1)A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
    (A)A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
    (B)A thumbhole stock.
    (C)A folding or telescoping stock.
    (D)A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
    (E)A flash suppressor.
    (F)A forward pistol grip.
    (2)A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
    (3)A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

      @toamaiusdvignir9468  4 роки тому +9

      @martinz1540 Don't confuse people. A 30 round body that meets California standards for a 10 round capacity is not the same as a 30 round magazine or 250 round drum lol. All that matter is capacity not body of said magazine/drum.

    • @toamaiusdvignir9468
      @toamaiusdvignir9468  4 роки тому

      @martinz1540 I was just saying not to spread misinformation. If you have a "fixed magazine" rifle and have a magazine, even if it is permanently affixed with more than 10 rounds, under California law it is not a "fixed magazine" rifle.
      So again, to clear any confusion, even if you legally own magazines that hold 11-1,000,00 rounds (exaggerating a bit) you cannot legally use them in a "fixed magazine" setup as it would fall under the definition of "fixed magazine"
      You concede how your comment could cause some confusion, right?

    • @toamaiusdvignir9468
      @toamaiusdvignir9468  4 роки тому +1

      @martinz1540 No they can't, again if you aren't sure on something please don't spread misinformation. Again, even if you legally acquired magazines holding 11 rounds plus, you cannot under any circumstances put them in a rifle that is "fixed magazine" only exceptions are, any rifle that does not meet the definition of an "assault weapon" or a pre-2001 RAW(Registered Assault Weapon)
      If you need a link to any laws, penal codes let me know. I would be more than happy to share them with you.
      Unless you want to be a felon don't put any mag holding 11-1,000,000 rounds in a rifle that is setup with "assault weapon" features.

    • @toamaiusdvignir9468
      @toamaiusdvignir9468  4 роки тому +1

      @martinz1540 What you just said, I clearly explained in full detail in this video. Also, you are forgetting a crucial part of what makes a rifle "fixed magazine"
      A rifle can only be fixed magazine if the magazine that is affixed to said rifle holds only 10 or less rounds. If it holds more than 10, that means 11 rounds or more than it is no longer a "fixed magazine" rifle.
      If you think I am wrong on this, please seek legal counsel because again ignorance of a law is not an excuse.

    • @toamaiusdvignir9468
      @toamaiusdvignir9468  4 роки тому +3

      @martinz1540 Arg... Sometimes I wonder if I am wasting my breath. This is my last attempt at keeping you out of trouble. You are dead wrong brother. I am not trying to or think that I am better than you but believe me, you are wrong. Hopefully this answered question will help put out by Firearms Policy Coalition,
      Q: What are the "features" that can make a firearm into an "assault weapon"?
      In addition to other categories of "assault weapons" (that we aren't going to talk about here), Cal. Penal Code § 30515(a) says that an "assault weapon" is:
      (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:
      (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
      (B) A thumbhole stock.
      (C) A folding or telescoping stock.
      (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
      (E) A flash suppressor.
      (F) A forward pistol grip.
      (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
      (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.
      (4) A semiautomatic pistol that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:
      (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
      (B) A second handgrip.
      (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer’s hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
      (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
      (5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
      (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
      (A) A folding or telescoping stock.
      (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
      (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
      (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
      And, for purposes of [Cal. Penal Code section 30515], " 'fixed magazine' means an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action." Cal. Penal Code section 30515(b).
      If after reading this, go to calguns.net and look at the AW Flow Chart or start a thread and ask about using magazines holding more than 10 rounds in a fixed magazine configuration is legal if you legally acquired those magazines. I am only trying to help. Again you are wrong brother.

    Featureless is better option, with a thordsen stock it changes hand position but its an easy train. Way faster than fixed mag, here you have to release the bolt, push the button to break action, press the button to drop the mag, close the action , finally recharge. Featureless: drop the mag, release the bolt. In high stress situation, muscle memory is faster with two steps instead of 5. Also you can have your grandfathered or freedom week standard capacity on featureless. So you have to reload more often with a fix mag option anyways. Featureless is the way to go imho

  • @OrangesnGreens

    • @toamaiusdvignir9468
      @toamaiusdvignir9468  6 років тому +5

      Jacob Holloway To be honest compared to other fixed magazine options that are now considered "assault weapons" this is much faster.
      Bullet button was a fixed magazine option which required use of a tool to drop the magazine and a bullet tip was considered a tool. This was in my opinion super slow and rifles like this were considered the norm.
      I wish I could have a rifle that was just like everyone else's in a free state. However, I live in California and rifles with features are considered "assault weapons" so by complying with the law, I can keep all my features and have the rifle look and function as close to normal and stay legal.
      Like I have said before, this is not slow at all. I go to Arizona a lot where they have no restrictions and I can freely remove mod which takes less than 1 minute(1 hex head screw). Now I find myself not taking the 1 minute to take off mod.
      Instead I train on this setup and just keep getting faster. I would say it is as fast as a standard ak. The only difference is having to send bolt home.
      Other than that, you just drop magazine and charge the weapon.

    • @youtubewatcherdude
      @youtubewatcherdude 6 років тому +1

      Toamaius D'Vignir I understand and agree, the only problem is knowing that it's faster obviously means next year they're going to ban this option as well.
      It seems they are trying to do everything except physically taking them.I too live in California and I am starting to explore my interest in guns and it's sad how limited my options are.
      I just bought an AR pistol upper and now I'm worried I won't even be able to complete my build.
      But I will add that I am excited that if I can complete it this does look like an exceptional option.

    • @toamaiusdvignir9468
      @toamaiusdvignir9468  6 років тому +3

      Jacob Holloway Yeah, if you are now getting into firearms, it will come as a shock to see how many restrictions we have on commonly used firearms.
      This option is very ban proof. In order for them to ban this set up they would need to do 2 things.
      1, Somehow make the argument that a fixed magazine rifle is an "assault weapon"
      2, Say that a single shot, bolt action action is an "assault weapon" this in my opinion would be impossible. Not only would they be coming after ar 15 or al weapons with a similar setup, but every hunting rifle in the state.. Fudds do not vote on black rifles. But talk about their wood guns and hunting rifles and they will come out of the wood work to stand and fight with us(at the polls)
      This is a great set up for ar pistols, however after Jun 30, 2018 all 80% lowers require registration and you must ask for a serial number and have a certified FFL put it on your 80% lower before you can finish it. I also believe you can no longer make a pistol out of such lower in California.
      There are tons of single shot exemption pistol lowers that are available for sale through private party which you can buy and use to complete your build using this setup, but instead of costing you market price they command a premium essentially it created a black market of sorts. Similar to buying any other off roster gun.
      This makes me sad, good luck.

      Military standard is to fire a shot, change the mag, and fire another shot within 1.5 seconds. Think about it. While a police officer can have his gun back up with 30 rounds against you, your taking around 4 seconds to have 10 rounds against him. Stand no chance.

    There are options to the featureless grip. It's not that you cannot wrap your thumb around it, the web of your hand between thumb and trigger finger has to be higher than trigger as in a commonly stocked rifle, so one option is you can use a Juggernaught Tactical featureless grip. To me it's a much better option than disabling my magazine release to have to crack open the action.

If there's a double feed and the bolt Carrier group is stuck back in the buffer tube you can push the AR Maglock Kingpin and it will break open far enough to release the magazine catch button, even with the bolt carrier group stuck back in the buffer tube. Well, when all things are equal and capacity was the same regardless, then this was my choice. Of course freedom week changed everything. Legally I can't use any magazine bigger than 10 rounds on a "fixed magazine" rifle as it makes that an assault weapon as by definition they are only considered fixed magazine if it's limited to 10 rounds.
      Right now my main setup is not bad at all. featureless and ambi-safety a long with a Resurgence Arms featureless grip. I can legally used my mags on this one. and besides not having a flash hider, pistol grip or and adjustable stock its the same. I travel to AZ frequently and when I take my rifle a long for the trip I don't bother changing it back to a standard configuration, train the same way I would have to use it in CA.

However if you wanted a taste of freedom removing the Hogue Freedom Fighter is only an Allen key away takes 30 seconds. Putting it back on will take about 10 minutes including adjusting to ensure magazine won’t drop without action being opened.
      Anywho glad you like the setup still best option if you like features. I like capacity myself now and went featureless so I can use my freedom week mags. I may do a quick video on it.

      Palmetto State Armory is got some killer deals going on. One example is a similar set up upper.
      I paid 369.99 for mine, plus shipping and it is a 5.56 barrel.
      They have a .223 Wylde 18" with 15.5 inch MOE Handguard, comes with MBUS sights and Bolt Carrier and Charging handle, I saw it for 299.99 with free shipping. That upper is better than mine. If you aren't savvy on .223 Wylde, it is pretty much a match grade .223 chamber that can handle 5.56 pressures. Shoots both, but when you shoot .223 it will be a tax driver.

      tuna0n3 Yep, this is truly the best combo. I travel to free states a lot and sometimes when I am feeling lazy, I find myself not taking the 1 to 2 minutes it takes to convert this to a standard ar15.
      Only thing I do different is use standard capacity magazines vs reduced capacity magazines. Even my Arizona friends who have no idea what compliance rifles are find this setup easy to train on. I also take every shooting opportunity to train on this.
      Bolt release, push to crack action open, release magazine, insert magazine, close action, charge weapon.(keep in mind this is a reload from bolt lock)
      Tactical reloads are,
      Crack action open, release magazine, reload fresh magazine, close action....
      If you are okay with magazine modifications or buying special mags(make sure you verify 100% function and reliability). I highly recommend using complete Juggernaut Tactical Hell Fighter Kit.
      Will turn your operation of arms to that of an ak pattern rifle, you will lose your bolt catch.
      From empty, bolt will automatically slam forward, crack action open, release magazine, reload fresh magazine, close action and charge weapon.
      Double feeds can be cleared as well, it just takes a little more time than Hogue Freedom Fighter Kit combo with JT Hellfighter Kit.

    Well, that's very nice, but the AR Maglok with Kingpin does the same thing. The problem is that the first products were engineered a lot better than the ones you get nowadays. Now the button extension often doesn't fit through the small crack and the extended release button can't open the mag release. I'm to the point where I'm just going to disobey the law and put normal factory releases in all my rifles. The chances are I won't get caught because most cops don't understand the administrative regs about separating the upper and lower to drop the mag, and, to their credit, many don't care.

      I see where you are coming from, however with that said, there are better featureless options that are more ergonomic than an featureless ar 15.
      I don't see a point of a featureless ar, unless it is a SCR or SU-16, those 2 rifles are naturally featureless, the SCR will take any standard ar upper assembly. These rifles do not have to be modified to be featureless and shoot just like any standard hunting rifle or shotgun. I won't even mention a mini 14.
      We like the ar, because it is a full featured modern sporting rifle, when you convert setup your rifle into a featureless configuration, you give up everything that makes it an ar 15.

      JTactical pin is push actuated and resets auto. Just push to open and close no need to touch pin after you close receivers.
      Also, to separate the receivers, just unscrew pin cap and push pin out like normal. You only need to twist pin to open position, kinda like CalCatch, but easier.

    Nice rifle. It sure stinks that we have to deal with this stuff in California, but I'm glad there are options.
    At 1:08 you mention that "if you can wrap your thumb around it, it is considered a pistol grip", I just wanted to clarify that there is more to the definition than simply wrapping your thumb around. I only say this because we make a grip that you CAN wrap your thumb around, but it is NOT considered a pistol grip according to the DOJ definition.
    The codes and laws are confusing and have changed so much, so I included the latest definition here...
    California Code of Regulations, Title 11, Division 5, Chapter 39, Article 2, § 5470,
    z) “Pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon” means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed beneath or below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing. This definition includes pistol grips on bullpup firearm designs.

      I took a look at your grip, and I got to admit it is quite ingenious. I saw it in combination with your safety levers. It's great that you can clear a double feed with this system but again too slow imo for any defensive situation.

      T0xicN0va Hmm... No, not at all. I go to Arizona a lot and stopped taking the 1 minute or less it takes to remove the magazine lock portion of this set up. I am not going to argue being able to drop magazine on a last bolt hold open situation isn't faster, it is.
      Before I can drop the magazine in a last round bolt hold open situation, I must first send my bolt home, then open receiver, drop magazine,.and charge weapon.
      The only thing this set up does vs a standard magazine release is having to charge weapon. Opening receivers by pushing a button is a non issue.
      So in Arizona, I have done reload tests vs this fixed magazine setup and a standard magazine release and time isn't that much. When I go against someone who is versed in guns as I am, reload is about 1 to 2 seconds faster.
      While their times stay the same or improve marginally, my time keeps getting significantly faster. I have about 500 rounds through this set up, and again I am no longer taking the time to remove lock and it takes less than 1 minute(a simple hex screw and remove magazine release button plunger)
      I disagree about times being so different that this rifle can't be used in a defensive situation. I find the battery of arms as fast as a standard AK, and would you argue they can't be used in a defensive situation?

      I always carry a handgun on me so, I am reaching for that instead of clearing the malfunction. With that said, you can clear the malfunction with minimal effort vs a standard configuration ar15. I say, if clearing a malfunction on this setup is going to get you killed, same is true of a standard ar15.
      As far as featureless being better, why even bother with a featureless ar15? There are way better, more ergonomic choices that don't have to be modified to be featureless. Here are a few that come to mind,
      Ruger Mini-14,Kel-Tec RDB-C, Kel-Tec SU-16, Fightlite SCR if you want the feel of an ar15 and takes a standard upper.

      Hi there. This is a custom build.
      Lower is an Anderson Manufacturing Ghost Stripped Lower(means it only has model and serial number, no logo or graphics) In the lower is a Palmetto State Armory Lower Parts Kit(less the fire control group) Trigger is a ALG Defense ACT Trigger. Buffer Tube Extension Assembly is a carbine length Palmetto State Armory Mil-Spec. Grip and trigger guard are Magpul MOE. The stock is a FAB Defense GL-Mag with a 10 round FAB Defense Ultimag.
      Upper is a 16" mid-length Palmetto State Armory 7-1 twist Nitride with 13.5 inch Magpul M-LOK Handguard. Sights are Magpul MBUS Gen 2.
      Then what makes it compliant are Juggernaut Tactical Hellfighter Mod Kit Takedown Pin and Hogue Freedom Fighter. Should cost about 900.00 to build this yourself, plus or minus 100.00
      Hope this helped, thanks for watching.

    A double feed will result in the inability to remove the magazine without further disassembly of the weapon and/or magazine. While that may be ok on the flat range, for a defensive or competition carbine it's a non-starter IMO.

      @@rickbrown9523 How long does it take to clear a double feed on a standard configuration rifle? Drop mag, rack, rack charging handle and insert fresh magazine and charge the gun and fire. To do this with this fixed magazine rifle only adds the step of pushing out the front pin lifting up slightly, push pin back and it is the same process.
      Again, not slow and maybe only seconds slower than a standard configuration rifle. Just being familiar with the and training. Let's face facts here, if you have a malfunction with a regular rifle you could die as well and the seconds it takes to push out a pin won't matter. I am not saying this is better than a standard rifle, not saying it is as good either. What I am saying, if you practice with, things become second nature and you absolutely can defend you and yours wirh it.

      There are tons of options that do not require any modifications and can be undone fast in an emergency or if you find yourself in a free state for a competition or just some free state plinking.
      You mentioned CompMag, that is a decent option for a no frills plinking ar and allows you to travel no problem. I own a CompMag, only thing I don't like about it is, it is a single stack only magazine.
      I am going to be doing video on other options and give my opinion. Have you heard of the FC Hook? This is a ingenious device made by Torque Precision that allows you to make any rifle compliant by just swapping out your magazine catch.
      It makes the rifle fixed magazine and allows you to use any double stack magazine and cannot be removed while receivers are closed and pins are pushed closed.
      What I like over the CompMag is, since it uses the magazine of your choice, you can use magazine port loaders like those made by MEAN ARMS or Bear Flag Defese the later being my favorite.

This setup allows you to have a rifle which when fired is essentially the same as what they consider an "assault weapon" has all the evil features. So they lose. So beware if you are taking this setup to the range..."
      If you concern is the weapon firing and bolt carrier not being able to go inside buffer tube, that is a non issue. It's pretty much a single shot at that point.
      Nothing happens if the action doesn't cycle. No danger whatsoever.
      If your concern is legality, also a non issue. Only semi-automatic rifles are considered "assault weapons", when you press the rear takedown pin button it stops the semi-automatic action as it no longer is capable of firing in semi-automatic.

    in Cali: What do you do at the practice range? Most every range I've used in California, during cease fire you need to drop the mag and have your weapon showing the chamber is empty. On an Umodified, or Bullet Button setup, the ejection port is open and the RSO can inspect the chamber, or you have a chamber flag in. If when the mag is out, and the charger is not locked back, the ejection port is closed, correct? do you have to pull back the changer, put in a chamber flag, and then let the charger return forward against the chamber flag?
    I know the RSOs were dreading this law because it adds more risk at the range during malfunctions. I think we all were taught besides maintaining muzzle in a safe direction, dropping the mag was one of the first things you do.

      Not sure I followed what you were trying to get at? This rifle does have last round hold open and magazine can be removed, however since this is a fixed magazine rifle (kinda like a M1Garand or SKS) they don't expect you to remove the magazine. You can lock the bolt back to show clear.
      If you absolutely wanted when a ceasefire is called, you could fire last round, send bolt home after last round hold open, drop magazine pull charging handle back and have the bolt back and locked and no magazine in the gun.
      Laws only consider a gun an "assault weapon" if you can remove the magazine before first opening the action. Says nothing about assembly of a fixed magazine rifle before you can insert the magazine. This setup wouldn't fall under an "assault weapon" because even if you could insert the magazine, you couldn't remove it before first opening up the action. I hope this makes sense lol. If it sounds ridiculous it is, and so are the laws.

I was under the impression that the grip needed to be modified so your thumb can’t be wrapped around and their are companies that sell good compliant grips. I was told also that if you change the grip to that funky new “compliant” one you can then “fix” the adjustable butt stock you have and that would make it compliant. Other choice would be to make it into a bolt action and keep the features 🤷🏻‍♂️ ????

      Uncer California laws, your weapon is an "assault weapon" if your rifle is semiautomatic and has detachable magazine and any 1 offending feature.
      This a fixed magazine rifle. The magazine cannot be removed when in semiautomatic configuration
      To remove the magazine lower and upper must be separated (disassembled) before you can prove the magazine.
      Fixed magazine rifle are in compliance with state laws. Only way to make a fixed magazine rifle into an "assault weapon" is to put a magazine which hold more than 10 rounds.
      Another way to have a legal semiautomatic rifle that has a detachable magazine is a featureless rifle. This means no flash hider, no forward pistol grip(2nd pistol grip forward of the receiver), no pistol grip, no adjustable/folding or collapsible sticks. Think of a Ruger Mini 14 with a standard sporting stock. Just make sure I'd you have a muzzle device of any kind it is not sold/advertised by its manufacturer as "flash hiding" same applies to ar/ak pattern rifles.

    I guess I’m not taking a AR-15 to a gunfight too much drama I’ll be dead by the time I reload! 😡

      In all honesty, this isn't much slower than a standard reload. I dare say that a regular reload would be just as consequential.
