    Today we dive right into the many sounds of the new Pearl e/Merge MDL-1 electronic drums sound module & demo ALL of its onboard kits in this video. These kits are subdivided into 7 sound categories:
    Natural
    Modern
    Studio
    Vintage
    Electronic
    Hybrid
    World
    (User)
    Each category holds 5 drum kits, making it 35 altogether. In addition to what´s already there, it is possible to edit & save 35 more user kits in the "user" category.
    We have expanded the eMerge e/Hybrid kit that was used for playing with another 14" tom & 15" crash cymbal pad. The module even has one more additional trigger input left, which lets you connect another pad if desired.
    You can find the kit & all electronic drum components in our online shop:

    Thank you you guys. You always do the best product demos. You take the time to go through the sound catalogs almost entirely. Nola funk is a great sounding kit for my taste. The drums with the Korg technology are also very nice sounding even though many of the kits come out sounding short with more attack than tone for my taste, but the Cymbals are truly amazing with beautiful washes and soft soft swelling attacks. I am truly impressed with the Cymbals Sound library. They are some of the most realistic sounding E Cymbals even compared to Rolands supernatural technology. Thank you again for a great demo of this product.

I'm blown away with all new these new kits, l know they're pricey but the quality is there. What I'm looking for more then anything is how did it feel playing behind it? The future kits are going to be amazing and I think rolands USB digital style pads will be the next big step forward for all.

    The thing about this kit is the sound creation. It is absolutely unique. It more or less amplifies an acoustic signal, I think. Reproduces what you play and modifies the sounds accordingly.The most accurately sensitive elec kit on the market. The first genuine electric kit. With this technology the rest will follow.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  3 роки тому

      Hi David, the kit actually works just like any e-drum triggering sounds from the module, but additionally there seems to be some kind of an electroacoustic pickup in the snare pad, which also transmits the acoustic signal of the pad. Which in my opinion isn't very useful, as this obviously sounds like plasticy electronic drum pad & you actually cannot turn it off in the module. My first impression when editing the video was "oh I forgot to mute the camera audio from the room", but I didn't :) kind regards!

    First of, what an amazing studio drummer. I actually recorded this video cause I was inspired by his natural flow of playing. That being said, I really can appreciate the craftsmanship, effort and development. It's versatile for a lot of studio uses especially if you need to record from a condo unit or loft where recording noise can be an issue. But unfortunately, it all still sounds muted and just does not have that organic acoustic resonance. Many people are complaining about the price but tech is always expensive and it's even worse when its a niche product. Like OLED tv's etc. Anyhow, this will never make up for a real acoustic kit in studio so I would personally save my bucks and buy a house in the country somewhere - set up a studio and have both option on hand, other wise, if you're not recording for professional use than I'd have to say what is the point in spending so much on this product.

    Great playing as always, I think the kits are well put together. Some I like better than others but that’s all preference. How does that snare compare to rolands digital snare? I believe that’s the only pad with the wavedrum tech in it, the mesh heads look unique as well.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Thomas, thank you very much! One thing that sets the eMerge pads apart from anything else is their head material, which results in a "hard" surface/rebound (close to a highly tuned acoustic head) & makes the pads rather loud in comparison to a drum-tec/Roland mesh pad. Apart from this, triggering works fine & the kit plays nicely in general! Kind regards

    Donc like the sounds of the snares! It seems in the drum brain sampled without the snares on!
    Very dark soundig sounds, just the 'bonk' of the hit and were is the 'body' of the sound?
    Cymbals and toms sounds fine, especially the cymbals!
    Maybe its necessary to ajust the sounds of the snares?
    But like that, i d'ont like the sound at all!
    Its not necessary to have 700 sounds and 35 kits maybe 300 sounds but multisampled and 15 kits are enough!
    I'm the owner of an Roland TD 15 with 50 kits and i like and use only ten kits and its enough for playing and have fun!
    I think that the atd drums way of built drum brain are better, less drums sounds, less drums kits but really better samples !

      Hey Rick, the eMerge pads are also rather loud, possibly too loud for a lot of appartment situations. The kit plays/triggers nice I think, but the lack of compatibility with 3rd party (drum-tec, Roland, ATV) pads & cymbals makes it kind of isolated from the rest, so I'd personally always prefer the 100% Roland compatible drum-tec diabolo/pro series with a Roland sound module by far. Kind regards!

      @@drumtecTV
      Every professional opinion like this is welcomed and valued, thanks for that.
      In your experiences, how do the higher quality, latest generation compact pads (like the ATV xD pads, Roland PDX/PDA100L/120L, Efnote pads) compare to the real drum finish e-drums from the same brands related to triggering experience and playability?
      There are a lot of drummers out there looking for renewing their module, e-cymbals, upgrading the whole e-drum experience, but for practical reasons wanting to keep their e-drums as compact as possible (especially depth-wise), without sacrificing the playability and triggering of the latest tech traditional looking e-drums.
      That compatibility for me for instance has such importance, that I would prefer a compact pad over a real kettle e-drum if they were both matched in performance, and even if they were evenly priced.
      Are the best compact pads as good to play and trigger everything like a kettle e-drum?

    If they would have put more realistic sound midis into the module I think it would have sold way more! For that price they should have at least 300+ kits better response time, the cymbals sound bad! Those snare tones sound mostly the same, choking the cymbals are hard, should offer more add on's, the bass drum can't handle 300bpm (for us metal drummers) same with the other drums can't handle the fast tempos without mis firing or lag. If they would just made a bunch of small adjustments it would fly off the shelves. I have a Rolland Ekit that's from the early 2000s that is as real as the natural thing you're going to get. But that's why they are priced the way they are bc they know that they are the best when it comes to Ekits even cheaper Alesis Ekits have better sales bc for the money your actually getting decent quality music from a machine.

      I think the main problems with the eMerge were loudness of the pads (VERY loud compared to other mesh head pad systems), lack of compatibility with other pad brands and finally the rather high sales price. The trigger technology worked/works very well actually, the bass drum pad feels nice. Yet for morst e-drummers, high physical pad/cymbal volume will be a total deal breaker, as many won't be able to use the kit at home living in an appartment for example. Kind regards!

    It sounds like a flam/clap on the snare at higher midi velocity levels...why is this kit $4200? My TD-17 has a much more natural response and sound, especially when a kit is dialed in with pad sensitivity and eq for $1600

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  4 роки тому

      Hi Adam, yes it seems like the pads transmit some kind of audio signal in addition to the module sounds/samples. Maybe this was thought to be a great feature that delivers more "realism", but personally I think it´s super weird, as one can´t even disable this ;-D Kind regards!

    snare is ringing and cymbals sound thin and phony. Why is it Efnote and ATV were able to get better sounding kits for so much less?

  • @TheDrummerDude17
    @TheDrummerDude17 4 роки тому

    As much as I love the more realistic sizes and sounds of electronic kits these days, I personally don't like how a majority of cymbal pads don't move realistically. They seem stiff with no swing movement. It just ruins the overall feel. It's like playing with your cymbals over-tightened. I love how Roland has accomplished the more fluid swing motion (and maybe a few others), but it's very rare to see it.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, the Roland & ATV e-cymbals do have a more natural movement. The Pearl eMerge cymbals indeed are very "stiff" without any flexible mount. Kind regards!

    It doesn't sound like the snare has enough round robin and vertically stacked, velocity triggered samples. I can hear it a little in the toms as well, but it isn't as noticeable because you don't hit the same tom over and over as often as you do the snare. Not impressed with the sounds in this module. The reason VST drum plug ins like BFD drums sound so good is because they are so much more expressive because of the "round robin and vertically stacked, velocity triggered samples" Hardware drum module/brains are seriously lagging behind VST plug ins.
