There's a new kit in town: 2box has recently released their beginner level "Speedlight" electronic drum kit, which comes with the Drumit3 sound module. Today's video shows all kit components out of the boxes & a final drumming demo as usual.
If you're after more onboard sample storage & more audio outputs in/on the module, you can alternatively get the Speedlight kit with the bigger 2Box Drumit5 MK2 sound module exclusively from drum-tec.
Both kit configurations are to be found over here in our online shop:

Class playing Ralphie ❤ lively kit 🎉
It's cool because it's a 2Box drum set and it comes in 2 boxes
Yes that's absolutely right :-D
I bought the 2Box Drumit 5 About ten years ago. It sounded great then and still does. I didn’t even audition it, I liked what I saw and read, I’ve never felt like I needed to change it mainly because they got it right first time in my opinion unlike other companies that bring out a new kit almost every year which makes people feel like they need to constantly upgrade.
I prefer less choice but a great choice myself.
Thanks for your feedback! :)
did you have any troubles with the cymbals? i've got an old one too. bought in on ebay but both cymbals died after a short time. i don't want to get another pair of those cause i don't know if the cymbals are trash or if they were just to old . imo they're not the best quality compared to roland etc.
@@Mustis91 hi, I’ve had no trouble at all apart from some of the rubber wearing, but I’ve had them for a long time and I’m still very happy with them.
I have tried the Roland kits and as good as they are, right now I still prefer the 2Box and I never really find myself wanting to change it.
A formidable contender. Sounds brilliant especially the snare and hats.
Is it me or does this drum kit sound the most realistic than other electric drum kits. Especially the cymbals
Wow, this thing sounds so good. Would've never though that was an eKit if I heard it on a recording.
Wow, that thing sounds great, the kit sounds amazing as well
These kits sound mad! Excellent drumming as always
Thank you Pat! :)
Sounds freaking amazing. And what a drummer😍.
Thank you very much!
This kit is literally what I need..
Just about to order this kit, mainly because of the module, but also because of Ralf Schumacher... :D Astonishing drumming... :O
Thank you very much,. that'S great to hear. Happy drumming! :)
Ralf Schumacher, Good drumming!
Thank you very much Terry! :)
Sounds great!
That SQ clear kit... is immense! Of course, Ralph makes ALL edrum kits sounds immense. You can put a layer of talent on "Scheisse" and it will still sound like Gold.
;-D thank you so much Stephen!
You are one of the best drummers on the internet by far, I love listening to you play.
Thank you Kevin for your kind feedback, that's nice to hear!
Beautiful drum kit!
Someday I'll play like this!
Can one tune everything in this Kit?
The last one sounds really amazing!
Greetings from Germany!
Muito bom !!!
Este módulo é um sonho que tenho rss
Parabéns ! baterista excecionalmente ótimo
Muchas gracias! :)
drumtecTV he's speaking Portuguese💀 not Spanish🤣
@@Jerry-hp3ky Uh sorry ;-D
Dijital davul olarak en iyi tonlar bu markada mevcut.Bu markanın dışında bu kadar canlı ton duymadım.En iyi marka bu.
My god u are amazing and love the kit
Thank you very much! :)
I follow this channel more for the drummer than the drums themselves
Thank you very much! :)
me2 hahahha
With a £1000 in the pocket is this the best offering? Would love this guy to test a kit blind folded he is very well rounded🤘
awesome drumming as always! this kit is really interesting, add one extra cymbal and it could be a serious opponent to the TD17KVX
by the way, the first URL in the description isn't working, at least on my end; just letting you know
Thank you for letting me know, now it works again :) kind regards!
With the best drummer too 😜
Thank you! :-D
Jeje you always plays Benny's Grooves
Looks very interesting. Does the kickpad supports double bass? It looks very very small
Yo you should make some drum libraries for this and the drumit five mk1&2!
To me the best e drum.
Well... it sounds better than the TD-50. Perhaps just below the strike module. I think the new general consensus then is: TD-50
Great!
Great drumming! Please tell about hi-hat sensitivity, it beter than Roland and Yamaha more expensive kits?
Such a great drummer. This kit sounds nice. does it compare to a Roland when you play it? or more like Alesis?
Thank you very much! I would put it somewhere between them actually :) the triggering (for me personally) works better than with an Alesis, but yet not on par with a Roland TD-17 for example. Kind regards!
This kit sounds great with Drumit5 MK2 :) Does the module allow you to create custom kits? And if it allows, will you create some new drum-tec custom kits?
Maybe some time in the future :) kind regards!
Hey! nice video and great drumming. i have an old drumit 5 and my cymbals broke..both of them so now i'm looking for a cheap replacement. preferably not the original one.
Could i use the cymbals of the speedlight kit with my old drumit 5? my hihat is fine. only crash and ride.
and how is the quality of the cymbals? can you hit as hard as on a roland cymbal? you couldn't on the old ones in my experience!
and if there are any alternatives for the old kit, let me know please :) besides the zourman boxes. they're plan b
Thank you very much! :) please get in touch through service@drum-tec.de concerning your questions, the guys will gladly help you out. Kind regards!
I really like this set. Awesome sounds, a lot of great features for your money (3-zone ride, real HH stand, optical HH triggers, great module, etc etc). But I’m in the USA and it’s not available at all the usual places (Guitar Ctr, Sweetwater, Kraft, not even Amazon). Is it available here in the states and if so where??!
Hey Scott, we ship intrnationally:
www.drum-tec.com/sets/2box
Feel free to get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for any further questions and/or an individual quote on any custom kit configuration incl. international shipping. Kind regards!
With this set can you have music playing through the headphones and play along?
I just bought this kit was there an issue aligning the module holder bracket to the 4 screws in the module not lining up at all?
Would the bass pad be large enough for a double pedal? I'm looking to buy this kit (mainly for the module, possibly replacing some of the pads later on), but I'd be using a double pedal
I would suggest to get a more stable bass drum pad for double bass, you can actually get any custom kit configuration from drum-tec.
Feel free to get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for an individual quote including international shipping if you like. Kind regards!
Wooow
I hope someone with experience can help me. Is it true that this kit has a high crosstalk, like in extreme case, you hit the frame and the far way high hat triggered? Or this is common on e-drum. Thanks.
Does anybody know the diameter/circumference of the rack bars or has some clue where to get a clamp for mounting an aditional cymbal for the speedlight kit? Thanks :)
I See they're getting away from the orange color.
Hi
Drum bass pad is in mesh too?
Thank you
No the bd is a rubber pad, you can find info on the kit over here:

@@drumtecTV thank you

2Box Speedlight vs TD 27kv? Is there really a comparison? I own 2Box and have always loved the sounds, but the new snare and ride for the 27...
The TD-27KV is on a completely different level, and more than double the price of a Speedlight kit. The speedlight kit would rather be comparable to a Roland TD-17KV kit probably ;)
@@drumtecTV I will be ordering the TD27KV from you with the LIVE Edition soon. Need to move on the 30th first tho!
@@evankellyest Hey Dave, sounds great! You might consider a bass drum pad upgrade (KD-120 or drum-tec diabolo Real Feel for example). The small (& very loud) shaky KD-10 works as a bass drum generally speaking, but is the weakest part of the whole kit by far. You can get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for a custom kit configuration and an individual quote if you like. Kind regards!
@SILVERSKYLINEUK The speedlight kit is rather comparable to the new Roland TD-07KV actually. Playability is much better with any Roland kit. Kind regards!
@SILVERSKYLINEUK Think of factors like pad sizes, and if you look at TD-17KVX you'll get a 3-zone ride cymbal and the moveable VH-10 hihat. That lifts th ekit up several levels & makes it much more "real" to play. Kind regards!
Notice: no machine-gunning whatsoever.
Also really hi-quality samples at low latency.
to be fair there were no machine guns in that price range for about 10 years now :D
This dude fucking rips 🤙
Thank you Hayden! :)
What's the best upgrades for this kit that you guys would recommend?
Hi, you can basically get the 2Box module(s) with any compatible custom kit/pad configuration from drum-tec. Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance/recommendations if you like. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV ok thank you i was thinking of adding 2 diablo 8 in pads onto it would that work?
Killer drumming as always. I feel like the price is just a tad steep but I love the two piece hi hat. Whoever designed the look of the cymbals needs to be shot, though. They look cheap and did they really need to mark the zones of the cymbal?
Thank you very much! Yes you are right, people should be able to find the bell without the need of marking it ;-D kind regards!
i actually like the price, its much less expensive than a TD17KVX while having a much better-sounding module. throw in an extra cymbal, and it becomes a serious rival to that.
i agree on the cymbals tho
Which one would you buy? The 2box Speedlight or Roland TD17 KVX? In my opinion the 2Box sounds much better and more realistic
Hey Meik. the TD-17KVX has much better playability/triggering in my opinion, the pads feel a lot better also, production quality is superior.
You can also upgrade the TD-17KVX with a nice 18" drum-tec Real Feel bass drum for more authentic playing feel & less noiuse level (the KD-10 is the weakest point in the kit):
www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-17kvx-drum-tec-edition-real-feel-incl.-live-sound-edition
There are several drum-tec Sound Editions for the TD-17 module also:

If onboard sounds are not enough, you can still use external sample libraries via midi out:

Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for any further assistance, kind regards!
@@drumtecTV if you would connect the 2Box to the exact same TD17KVX kit, do you think triggering would improve? (compared to 2box's own Speedlight pads)
So, does the triggering really depend more on the module, or more on the pads?
Thank you, GG
Those pads sure look like the Medelli pads like the ones Alesis used with their original DM10 kits. Would like it if the Drum Tech guys also open up the different pads they use and show us a quick inside.
This module, the editing is far deeper than you’d expect, but it will take a lot of hassle prying into the menues. Does it have an editing program for a computer?
Not medelli pads
@@ThePaivarinne Thx. How did you find out?
They are pads from a brand called HXM.
Does 2box support positional sensing?
Hey Jeroen, no positional sensing has been a Roland exclusive patent for some time. Kind regards!
Can you add more cymbals..?
J: M.A.C. The module has 15 inputs, so you can almost double the size of the kit (and with almost any other brand hardware)
You can find more info on the 2Box Drumit3 or Drumit5 MK2 modules over here if you like:
www.drum-tec.com/2box-drumit-three-sound-module
www.drum-tec.com/2box-drumit-5-mkii-sound-module
Kind regards!
jonathan cooper don’t be fooled, it has 11 inputs only, the other 4 are for the bell of 3 zone cymbals and don’t work as stand-alone inputs...

The largest worry I have with the 2box kit is the samples seemed to not gel as if they were recorded in the same space. The stereo imaging sounds very unnatural. Am I the only one?
Der Link in der Beschreibung hat einen Tippfehler.
Dankeschön, jetzt geht er wieder! :)
The hihat is actually only 13“ and single zone
You are right sorry it's 13" :) but as far as I had experienced the pad is dual zone? Kind regards
drumtecTV I checked the midi out of it in my computer and it only sends the bow note...
2:11 something falls off beneath the hi-hat cymbal.
Hm, I don't see anything apart from the hihat cable wobbling around actually :)
@@drumtecTV it's hard to notice, but it's there for sure... maybe start at 2:10 - looks like a felt pad or something - maybe an inch or 2 to the right of the hi-hat stand, under the cymbal. it falls really quickly. I do QA for a living and notice stupid things like this.
@@claysmell don't see anything
@@claysmell :-D
@@claysmell yes, good catch (no pun intended)
Why do i feel like this kit is being outsourced and produced in China, besides the drum module on this, the remaining parts look like the Millenium MPS-750X E-Drum Mesh Set (Also known as Valler XD-480 E-Drum), if thats the case i am actually disappointed in 2Box because their first kit was very innovative when it first came out, this doesn't look anything better tbh..
I'm about to buy the 750X, can you show me the actual producer? I noticed the speed light and 750X had similar pads as well, but couldn't find where it was from, and I dont know where to find the Valler company.
@@theblackknight870 hey mate, i bought the valler in İstanbul/Turkey, but actually the original manufacturer is www.huaxin-music.com/ , hxm electronic drums to be exact, you can check them out from the website i wrote above 👍🏻
Handmade in sweden
3rd comment!
Give this company a few more years and the likes of Roland (with their bad samples) will lose millions of customers
It's all about tuning your kit, my TD-4 sounds way better than the shoddy samples in this video, which is just a matter of drumtec not having spent any time arranging and tuning the kits, presumably.
You can make any virtual kit work in your favor if you just toy around for a couple of hours, especially the hat in this video sounds atrocious compared to what I can get out of even the oldest and shoddiest drum brains.
Well maybe in the V drum department but roland were always known for their keyboards and so on tho right??? Doesnt matter if their drums go out of business
@@ashimotoakai9599 Their drums are mostly still the best quality money can by. They won't just relinquish that niche and they very much are known for their vdrums at this point
their problem was low quality hardware and you only could use their own hardware (cymbals and stuff) . now you can use most cymbals so they should do fine!
@@minhuang8848 nope. tD4 sounds like a toy. This one sounds like a real drum. It's very impressive for the price and the HH does not sound "atrocious" but REAL . you never played a real Zildjian K/Z I guess. Roland 's drums sounds atrocious for drummers. Even TD 50 specially toms. Yes take their drumIT 5 + other hardware (drum tec aka sonor pads ! ) and you have a top notch edrum for few bucks
Price plz
www.drum-tec.com/sets/2box
Kind regards!
Sounds nice and all, but that shaky rack and snare would drive me nuts.
Hi Ralf, you are right, that is definitely one of the weaker points ;) Kind regards!
yes play the video at low spped and at 2:09 from hi hat fall a piece :(
Might have been a little plastic knob, which closes the second (unused) trs input, there was no damage to the hihat if you mean that :) kind regards!
@@drumtecTV thx ! this kit or atv exs 2 ?
@@canonistul74 Tough question, you might also get a mix of both (pads of the EXS-2 with the 2Box module) from drum-tec :)
@@drumtecTV great but the price without module exs2 atv , not find on site....
@@canonistul74 That's true, but you can get an individual quote for any kit configuration if you get in touch through service@∂rum-tec.de :) kind regards!
Should of got this kit over the roland td17 kvs the cymbals of the roland are terrible especially the hh.
Better sounds than Roland, such a shame...
I think they sound very toylike.
What hi hat is that?
It comes with the 2Box Speedlight kit. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Are there 14" versions?
@@sabahoudini Please reach out through service@drum-tec.de for some further recommendations. Kind regards!
It looks like other than the module. Its just a rebranded kit
The cymbals are not fully covered with rubber, a bit ugly!
But nice and shiny in the back ;-D
