What a dream come true. She's in good shape, what a 1k. find! And the only section your worried about is the transom. I can't wait to see the end result.
Yeah! It was definitely one of those opportunities you just can’t pass up! Have been looking at it for over 2 years sitting under a shed roof. Can’t wait to see how it comes out!
Man, I did a big restoration on a 21' about 15 years ago. Glad to watch your adventure as I was certainly one and done on fixing old boats. Good luck, it's a great platform and I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
I’m really looking forward to putting her back together. I know it will take a while but it will be in the family for a long time hopefully! Thanks for tagging along!
For hole that go all the way through the hull/transom, on way to repair them is to take a hole saw that is a 1/2"-1" bigger than the existing hole and drill it out. This will give you a good view of the wood between the inner and outer layers of 'glass. Fix up some epoxy and paint the wood exposed inside the hull. Take the rest of the epoxy and thicken it up and fill the hole. You will likely have to use tape or something on the back to prevent the thickened epoxy from pushing through. If you are going to reuse the hole a very large stainless washer or bar of stainless should be used as a backer on the insdie.
I have to replace the deck and stringers and the balsa coring so it had to come out anyways. I wanted more deck space and never been a fan of inboards is the main reason. The motor ran good but it’s an older engine that I couldn’t trust being offshore.
@@LindellAdventures thanks for the reply that totally make since, I’m looking for a good project boat and hadn’t really thought about converting an inboard to outboard but that opens up a lot of other possibilities! Thank for doing these videos it is so helpful to be able to learn from you and some of the other channels I have found.
I think it's a mistake removing the Merc. It's an engine,if it quits on ya, you can get going with wire and electrical tape. Those outboards die your stick.
Love when people works smarter than harder, great job keep those vids coming!!!!
Thank you! That’s the name of the game haha. Next is the floor!

Loving this project! Can’t wait to see the end result. Go all out man, it’s gonna be sweet!
It’s my dream boat! Thanks for following along! Hopefully it comes out like I envisioned it will!
Engine cranked right up! That was very cool.
I was pleasantly surprised for sitting for 10 years!
Can't wait to see more! Great videos buddy, keep it up!
Thank you! Lots more after that one!

I plan on fixing the transom with the same thickness plywood and glass it in but things can change if the transom is rotten!
@@LindellAdventures I was referring to small holes left by the outboard bracket and swim ladder.
Yay update
I don't think I've ever seen a marine engine fire off so fast... LOL
That’s what I said! Haha I didn’t think it would have that’s why I dragged the starter for a touch longer than I wanted.
I thought an Olympic boat. But its an Olympic boat 😅
Awsome
Why did you you chose to switch to an outboard if the inboard was just fine?

Motor v8?
Yup, Chevy motor!
If I did this, I am sure I won't be able to put it all back.
You’d be fine haha

I’ve had a lot of outboards and never had the issues that inboards do but that is just my experience. The motor needed to be gone through anyways.
Omg why is he taking that motor out ? My uncle Murphy says , well we all know what he says
It had issues and I am going to an offshore bracket with outboard to free up space on the deck.
It is really bad to run that engine how you were. You had the out drive off so there was no way to put muffs on and cool the engine.
Everything was still together when I ran the engine. The motor was being removed and had it’s own issues. Only ran for 30 seconds.
yeah why put two ugly outboards on it and obstruct the view while you have a running engine already in there and it has enough power to
It needed to come out and the inboard takes up deck space.
