Great video. This is just what I have been looking for so I could address vibration issues when playing music in my GLI. I did a video for removing the rear deck but was scared to remove the headliner. Glad you did it LOL
Nice video. Idk why people always insist on going back with the fabric. I’ve done two of these. My 07 Ridgeline and my wife’s 13 Jetta. Instead of going back with the fabric, I spray painted them. Once you get all of the old adhesive cleaned off, pick a color that matches the interior, spray paint it with a couple coats, let it dry overnight and re-install it. Both of mine look good, and guess what, I don’t ever have to worry about the stupid cloth sagging again! 🙌🏽
Great video! I've been keeping my tinted windows up to hide the headliner that is flapping around. It's stoopid embarrassing! This will be very helpful, thanks for posting 😁👍 time to get to work!
Great Video! I did my gluing differently. I used 3M canned spray adhesive and only worked about a foot section at a time. I could not figure how I could glue the entire roof pan and then lay the headliner down without massive wrinkles. Working a foot at a time starting back to front seemed more manageable for me. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for the video. The first half was done very well. I wish you would have taken more time with the last half to show reinstalling details. It was obvious you had a few trials getting things lined up or snaps back in.
My headliner is basically sagging all over. It started at the overhead console and I tried to glue it up, now it looks like crap. This video was really helpful man. Gonna go search for this fabric. Lol
Bro you are doing really great stuff ...keep going you have long way to go ,I have question for you i have jetta too 2010 and i want a apple car play and rear camera on my car ,i m unable to find the proper radio for it please help me out
Thanks man i apreciaste it! Here is the link on ebay for the new rcd360 with apple carplay this one will work with your car the only thing is that the procedure to install may change a little bit, hope this helps: www.ebay.com/itm/263226774215
Like he said rcd 330, i got one recently, I recommend the desay 187b, works like stock, easy instal and can literally be programmed by vw vcds, meaning even the car thinks its OEM
Did u disconnected the negative terminal of the battery before working? Is it really necesarry to do that? I'd like not to, to avoid all that reset shit :D
Just picked our car up from getting the headliner replaced and all warning lights are on. Did this happen to you? I noticed you replaced a fuse towards the end but I wasn't so clear why
I have a version with roof airbags, and somehow the A-pillar is attached differently. It does not allow easy removal. Anyone any hint on how to do it without ruining the retention clip for the A-pillar? :\
you have to remove the center console from the car and put the front seats all the wa6y back , then you have the remove the headliner out of the front passenger door
The problem with the old one its that it lost the foam part that makes the fabric have thats volume and squishiness. You can go by your local fabric store, if you are in the USA you can go to Jo-Ann Fabrics.
@@AdonayLopez I wanna see if I can really clean the fabric, remove that yellow foam. And try to reattach the old fabric. Your video was really helpful. I though the windshield needed to be removed in order to take out the ceiling panel. Now that i know it doesn’t, I’m going to give it a try.
Thank you, i was thinking about it; but it was going to be a lot more work painting all the other gray part all over the car. Maybe on the next project. 👍🏼
Guys, do yourself a favor and buy the factory brand new one for $300 dolares. If not, go to your local junkyard or Pick-n-Pull where you can get one for even cheaper! This guy has a great idea and I'm sure he has a lot of talent but boy you better have the time to do it. I hardly have the time to install it never mind bring it to an upholster!
@@funkdoctor9663 Got a place in the Northeast called Pick n Pull . Just a giant junkyard you go to and you tell them the model car you're looking for and they tell you how many they have. You go find your car and take the part off
The video is generally good and helped me a lot taking the headliner off. Thanks for that. But if you look carefully at the end, there's all these dimples and creases, I bet in real life it doesn't look very good. And you know why? Because the golden rule of upholstery is: make as little contact to the material with your bare hands as possible. Hands are a bad upholstery tool: oily, greasy, pointy. @10:30 there's like 3-4 people tucking and pressing and adjusting... I cringed quite a bit at that. Also, it looks like way too much contact cement, especially the 2nd half, looked dripping wet, but hard to see for sure in the video.
Ok, saw that too, nothing is perfect :D but what tools do u recommend for that? Can I use the kitchen wooden tools for that which are pretty straight or curved???
@@ClaudiuB idk if you have done it yet since it has been 8 months since you have posted this. But if you haven't then I would recommend using plastic panel tools as to not crack or damage the plastic bits that you would be prying against, I've learned that when I switched my trim panels on my doors lol.
@@ClaudiuB Maybe way too late, but nevertheless. Just get an old (but clean) t-shirt, bend it several times, and be sure it is between your fingers and headliner when you make pressure onto it.
should i... should i say it?... kinda looks like crap. I'm guessing thats why you didn't show more but: 16:31 its not really staying down that well in the corners and 18:14 whats with all the dimples? anyways i'm not hating, I have done it before but was just a flat ceiling. But I have also messed stuff up too and had the headliner fall down, so hope yours stays up at least.
Yeah i try my best being the first time... we actually messed up the first fabric it was going to be all black lol, but we have to learn some how. Thanks for watching.

I wonder if there's any surface prep or adhesion promoter that can be done after scraping off the old foam, and before applying new glue. Good job!

I was told the windshield had to be removed in order to fix the headliner. Your video is proof that it doesn't.

How many yard of fabric it took from you to do just headliner?
