Great start, but you can improve it more:
- You need to insulate that sheet of aluminum to prevent it from drawing heat from the engine bay and heating the enclosure where the filter draws air from. You can use 5mm self adhesive insulating foam that has an aluminum reflective layer on the outside. You can stick that foam on your separator piece, on the engine bay side.
- The seal you have there will not fully seal the enclosure. You will draw extra hot air from the engine bay from the top side, defeating the purpose of the cold air intake. You can put an aluminum cover (insulated too) over the top of the intake to make sure that ALL the air that goes inside the box comes from the outside.
- Another thing is the hose going from the filter to the turbo. That hose will get HOT on the outside because it's super close to the engine, and it will transfer a lot of heat to the air that's circulating inside it. Your air will be a few degrees warmer when it enters the turbine compared to when it enters the air filter. You can insulate that hose by wrapping it on the outside with an "exhaust wrap" cloth that's made from fiberglass and carbon I think. That will help the pipe draw significantly less heat from the engine bay, and it will allow the air to keep it's low temperature as it's reaching the turbo.
You’ve Made some really excellent points! This was just more of a simple not too in depth Version of what K&N sells, but honestly I’m going yo maybe remake a video In the future, and use some of the things you’ve mentioned! Thanks so much for your comment🙏🏽
@@modified_eurosport Go for it dude, you have the skills to take it to the next level!
@@capcadoi appreciate your support, honestly I’d love to have your contact info for consulting on future projects! Message me on Insta and we can talk from there
@@modified_eurosport You can also buy weather stripping(or take it from a junk yard car) to replace the tubing that you used for a more "finished" and factory intended look.
Never thought to wrap the inlet pipe with exhaust wrap. That's a great suggestion and I'll be doing that when my avant gets back from the shop
Great job man looks killer
C’est exactement ce que je voulais faire ! Bravo 👍🏾
Inspired me to make my own, turned out amazing thanks to your vid 💪
That makes me so happy to hear🙌🏽 your a legend💪🏽
Good job man looks great 👍
i would say yes replace it with black tuving or even use a rubber black hose from the auto parts store and cut it to fit and as well put some around the intake induction hole you made in the heatsheild so it will help keep from heat air from coming in and over all it will keep the pipe from getting rubbed on from the metal
That looks awesome!! Thank you I made my own with the same design and my car feels more responsive because it’s sucking in less hot air from the engine thanks heaps!!
Awesome👌🏽
Very tidy job, looks OEM. thanks for the video dude, I’ll be giving this a go on my A5 🤙🏼
Thank you for the comment! I’d love to see how it goes and help in anyway I can, if you’d like you can DM me on Instagram
@@modified_eurosport wish me luck. The cardboard temp is great shout. Yours turned out awesome
I'd go with black door trim guard and adhesive foil heat shielding from your local hardware store. Also a Dremel or similar tool to smooth all the rough edges, but overall great build!
That’s a great box,
Thanks brother🙏
Damn nice job, bud!
This is actually crazy I may they this one day
Looks great brother
Thank you so much🙏🏽
You smashed it
Thank you🙌🏽
You did a very good job. Love how it turned out.
Greatly appreciate the support🔥
Well done. 🍻🔥For the rubber strip, go to a junk yard and just take the door strip. Good luck!
Thank you make same, but add little in upper intake line 👌🏻👍🏻
Good job.
Nice work
Amazing bro
Thank you🙌🏽
Great Job…..
Inspiring me to do the same tbh
I’m glad your feeling inspired, this video was just to show how simple it is… I think they overcharge for aftermarket prices for the simplicity…
Fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you👌🏽
Good stuff! I'll be getting the same filter. Is it a problem that it looks so dirty? don't you think the particles can flow towards the engine? Thanks! Keep it up!
cool dude i will do same
Can you also show how you connected the air filter
Vou fazer no meu A4 2.0 TFSI 2013.
What if you used door or window insulation on where the clear tubing is??
I think it would be much nicer with U-shaped sealing strip rubber! Maybe on red or blue!
Tendrás las medidas de cómo lo cortaste
Okay so as someone who just did an IE intake on his b8.. I also love what you’re doing here. Question though… what is this turbo setup???? Went from a b6 bolt on project to a let’s do this shit right b8 project type vibes ya feel me?
This is just a stock turbo setup with a tune! But more to come in the future🙌🏽
Dont you dare changing the clear rubber seal bro thats authentic for your car now
Before the box build, how did you mount and keep the MAF?

This is the link to the video for just the filter!
What's the size of the filter? 4" or 3"?
hello guys, what is the diameter of the filter, thank you very much🙏❤️
Hi i have a question i drive an Audi a4 b8 as an A-traktor ( search it up) which is a car that goes in only 30 kmh do you think that if i put an air intake without making a heat shield that it would affect my cars driving?
Everyone will tell you something different… but if the car only goes 30kmh then it probably won’t make any difference
Nice! Can you send me the link? It doesnt work
Did this improved hp/fuel consumption? Thx
I’ll be honest with you. Probably not. For me *PERSONALLY* I feel a better throttle response, and obviously a deeper tone in the exhaust. As for fuel, probably no better no worse. However now I’m running a different setup. More videos to come in the future! Thank you for your comment🤟🏽
Can u help us haha we cant remove the box because of the down sensor, its stuck, any ideas??
Dm me on insta
Not bagging anyone who does this, hell I've even considered it myself just to hear the supercharger, but always been curious as to why they are called "cold air intake" as they have been proven to increase the incoming ambient air temperature, however the only benefit is the airflow won't be as restricted as the factory box.
This is a super common thought! However it’s been tested and measured. After the air gets pushed through the intercooler it has little to no difference!
Had to give you that "nice" 69th like, nice work my guy!
Appreciate all of it🙌🏽 your a gem💎
nice job bro.
is there a diference between stock air filter and the one that you have?
The Main difference is sound. But also less restricted airflow.
@@modified_eurosport yes.. no restriction for more air. But also for dust😂
@@cristiroland lmao so why’d you ask😂
@@modified_eurosport i had a kn sport filter in original case. I didn't know until i made the first oil change.
I like it. Is it worning for engine?
Still going strong💪🏽
Sorry for my english I wonder if is this dangerous for the engine?
@@va-777-jx not a problem yet!
what did you do with the sensor at the bottom of the original air box?
The valve sits perfectly at the bottom, you can remove it from the box and zip tie it, OR screw it into the shield
@modified_eurosport could you please explain how did you remove the valve and sensor from bottom of air box? I can't figure it out..
I woud build that from insulation easier to build it and is better on keep the heating out of the box
Thank you for your suggestion
You should mock up a few and sell them uld sell loads
Love the idea! It’s definitely a thought!
@@modified_eurosport I own a 2015 a4 b8.5 and the intake kits are ridiculous
@@wangobangogamingofficial8862 it’s very true! That’s why I make videos like this, and more to come, because I feel like the automotive industry is flooded with high cost aftermarket parts with low value.. at least the components themselves are quite simple and easy to replicate…
@@modified_eurosport my car is my wallpaper on my page I think and throw a add on ebay list 5 if they all sell u only gotta make 5 init worth a try lol
And shud sticky heat barrier the engine bay side and make a bottom so no heat comes through engine bay just suggestions
Link?
the clear tube looks abit crap id use pinchweld strip
hi can you tell me the measures of that piece of sheet metal?
I honestly couldn’t… but a 1meter/1meter sheet should leave you with extra to build a cover for the top!
@@modified_eurosport ok no problem bro thanks💪🏼
You should sell these I'll pay extras just so I wouldn't have to make it and yours looks pretty good and if you do start selling it let me know I'll buy one
The day might come.
Do you have the dimensions so I can recreate it exactly?
Unfortunately I don’t. But that’s pretty much why I made this video, so if you want to do it, it’s extremely simple, and I show you EXACTLY how to do with very little tools needed.
Wish you sale these I would buy one
You and me both. One day! I repeat ONE DAY
A
Just better hope the police don't see that lmao
Why?
@@modified_eurosport Portuguese car modding laws are dumb so pod filters are illegal. If the police see you with a pod filter you'll get a massive fine
@@rowane3636 only if visible, In my case I’ve made a cover outside of this video (as it was unnecessary) so there’s no possible way to see it. And it looks very OEM. It helps if you don’t give them a reason to stop you… as well if your not polluting the street in black smoke… but I’d have to agree the Portuguese laws on modifying cars (especially when it’s not changing absolutely anything about the car) are quite rudimentary. However I passed inspection without any issues with this filter!
@@modified_eurosport Ah that's good then, I was gonna get one of these for my BMW soon but I was gonna get a normal one for use when it's not drifting, but as you're saying that you passed inspection I'm gonna look more into the laws to try to see if I can buy only the pod one. And yeah I agree don't be an azeiteiro dos fumarentos hahahaha
VRRMMMMMMMM TSHSHH TSHHHHH TSHHH VRMMMMMMMMMMM
Exactly… this mans gets it
Start a company g
Paint it black
Thats a heat shied not a air intake box but yeah enjoy having air cone filter sucking up all the beat
Cry about it😂
Im dying laughing 🤣 with tears in my eyes what young stupid kids like you doing sometimes and u dont even know wth is going on in your sad life
No reason to do this.. no more speed only hobby.. me searching videos for turbo upgrade to this car 😢 not enough info online
If there’s no reason… why does 95% of the car community put these on their cars. Think more, speak less. It’s for more sound, and better exhaust note👌🏽
