This is a Canadian Players Challenge Race car. Exhaust is correct. Radio, power windows correct as noted on the SPID. What makes this a different 1LE is code R7U.
The series allowed a 2 year run on the cars. 1988 cars did not have the dual cat exhaust, so they had to keep it the same on the 1989 cars to not give any advantage.
When he opened the trunk.....memories of my 86 IROC-Z with a custom sub box with 2 twelves matted to RockFord amps in the hole in the trunk......those were the best days.....cruising and jamming to 80s rock or 80s freestyle music.....
Beautiful restoration, the only thing I noticed missing was the twin cat exhaust, 1LE came with this if memory serves plus radio delete and fog lamps. Other than this the factory wasn't this nice. Perfect job. Cheers
It has fog lamps delete, and the ac delete is also gone to, rare car, Some for this year only had single exhaust sys for quicker performance, in 1991 it came back to dual cats, 91 and 92 year only
Beautiful restoration! I expected to see the dual cat exhaust setup when we were looking underneath it. Maybe that was 5.7/ performance axle ratio pkg only as I just noticed this was a 5.0 TPI 5-speed. I had a Yellow '85 IROC-Z TPI back in '85 and then a Yellow '87 5.7 IROC-Z TPI with gold accents and tan leather, Delco Bose. Ordered it from Steakley Chevrolet in Dallas, TX. It was built Jan 19, 1987 and was delivered Jan 29th. I miss it some whenever I see these cars again. We used to race around near the Forest Lane area back in the day. Good times.
@tg8150 Everything else in that day was even slower, dude. Outside of the "exotics" only a handful of production cars on the road could beat it. I know. I also had one brand new right off the showroom floor.
@tg8150 lol, it's not well known. Let me give you some info from someone who had 1 of each. 😁 I ordered both new ... an '87 5.7 IROC & then a '91 5-speed GT. I had both those cars as a pair until 1998 when I sold the GT an got a new Toyota 4 Runner Limited. They ran virtually identical 1/4 miles & trapped nearly identical speeds. They were also separated by less than 1 mph on top speed. I quartered them at Kil-Kare Dragway in Xenia, OH more than a few times. The only noticeable big difference was in handling at anything over 100 mph. Because of a solid rear axle the GT was a driving mess, the IROC on the other hand was glued to the road. Granted this wasn't on a perfectly smooth stretch of asphalt, but it was quite noticeable. I do have pics of them sitting side x side in my driveway back in the day. Camaro was Bright Blue Metallic & the Mustang was Medium Red.
This is how a restoration should be done; good job. Effectively it's a brand new car at this point. And it's a manual transmission one, as it should be. Once again, all is well with the world.
Nicer than when GM made it. Where did you get the exhaust? My orginal '92 exhaust is developing holes after all these years and I want to keep it looking original. Those IROC-Zs are great looking cars!
This car is the equivalent of todays zl1. But better cause its more rare LOL. I like rare muscle cars and just rare cars in general. Got special feels to them. Me personally i own a 87’ z28 stick😎🏎️💨
Actually, it is 1 of 74 Player's Challenge Series cars that were made in 1989. I'm guessing this was one of the spare cars that wasn't raced or it would've been in worse shape.
Good. I wouldn't change a thing on this one. I hear that 1LE can run the quarter in high 13s. It's not that fast by today's V8 muscle, but it's still fast enough.
Beautiful but wrong exhaust. 1le automatically had the dual cat exhaust. G92 PERFORMANCE pack, 1le had 9 bolt aussie rear, rear disc, engine oil cooler, baffled fuel tank and as stated dual cats
I own a 1LE (1991) and I’m not 100% sure on the 1LE’s but for regular production, some early 89’s got the single cat and the later 89’s got the dual cat (N10).
Oooh my gosh that single pipe exhaust needs to go IMMEDIATELY ASAP jeeezzz it needs headers and dual exhaust with two flow master 10’s just behind the rear axle and delete that converter
THE RPO CODE SHEET will end the debate about 1LE. There is a code for AC delete and radio delete. The car IS NOT a 1LE if there is a radio RPO code… AC delete and Radio Delete AUTOMATICALLY triggered the 1 LE Option which you paid for….1 LE option included 4 wheel corvette disc brakes and the dual Cat exhaust system. There is an RPO CODE. For aluminum drive shaft and baffled fuel tank. No 1 LE car came with power anything. They were basic optioned cars. Also the 1 LE car had a small badge located on the front fender behind the wheel, the badge was drilled Into the fender leaving holes if removed. Thanks and have a nice day
You, Sir are the only person on UA-cam to restore one of these and not paint over the body stripes and decals like a dumb ass....That's how people differentiate these from the rest of the crappy Camaros from this generation. Can we remember that this the second lowest performance point for Camaros in history? Can we remember how bad the Mustang on the foxbody platform would do these in a light to light race? Can we remember that the only Camaro worth owning from '82 to '90 was an IROC-Z? So if you keep those things in mind, you should know that if you destroy your badges and decals you look like you're driving a sh***y Rally Sport.
Dude it says 1le on the spic sticker freeze video and read the rpo codes…it’s a early 89’ that’s why it doesn’t have n10 dual cats… weird it has power windows , hatch ..
This is a Canadian Players Challenge Race car. Exhaust is correct. Radio, power windows correct as noted on the SPID. What makes this a different 1LE is code R7U.
Thanks. I am not a 3rd Gen Camaro expert but had a feeling that the Players Challenge option would have changed the 2 cat exhaust system.

What color red is that,it's brautiful
@@russellsowders5890 Paint code 81- Bright Red.
If actually a players car I would like to see the seals that used to prevent tampering on the engine.
This is probably nicer than when the car was new
Thanks! It's a very well done restoration.
Wow a non-t-top 5-speed IROC! Amazing restoration!

Well done, looks bran new, even the over-spray on the bottom. Beautiful car.
Spectacular!!! The envy of most 3rd gen owners!!!
Beautiful restoration, the only thing I noticed missing was the twin cat exhaust, 1LE came with this if memory serves plus radio delete and fog lamps. Other than this the factory wasn't this nice. Perfect job. Cheers
Thank you! I believe that because this car has the R7U/Players Challenge option that the exhaust system is different.
The 1LE option did not delete the radio, just the fog lamps and a/c. Most all options were still available.
It has fog lamps delete, and the ac delete is also gone to, rare car, Some for this year only had single exhaust sys for quicker performance, in 1991 it came back to dual cats, 91 and 92 year only
N10 was an option code for the dual cats that started in 1989.
Exquisite !! BRAVO, I mean what a good job ! Whoever did that restoration needs to do as many more as possible

These Canadian Players Challenge factory race cars came with single cat from the factory.
I owned one. 1989 5.7 tpi gear package, 147 mph, only lost 1 street race, to a Grand Am 3.6 turbo. I ate Stangs and Firebirds.
You didn’t eat 5.0, 5-spd “Stangs” with a 350 auto Z-anything cuz even though they had a 350, they were slower than molasses. This is well known.
@tg8150 Everything else in that day was even slower, dude. Outside of the "exotics" only a handful of production cars on the road could beat it. I know. I also had one brand new right off the showroom floor.

This looks like he time traveled back to 1989 with a trailer and brought this back right from the car lot
Just a beauty. 1 of 111, 1 of 74 or 1 of a million I don't care! Hands down my favorite car ever and this one is stunning 😍
This is how a restoration should be done; good job. Effectively it's a brand new car at this point. And it's a manual transmission one, as it should be. Once again, all is well with the world.
Idle needs adjustment, previously stated...better put together and finish when it was new, beautiful vehicle.
Just beautiful, congrats.
Awesome car! Awesome restoration!
Absolutely gorgeous
Beautiful clean IROCz
Clean 👌🏿
Amazing , better then factory
The only thing that coulda made this video any better is if you put an awesome 89 rock song to it!
L98 is a great engine ❤👍👍
So good
Love to see before pictures

beautiful car, could you share us the red code color that you use for the car please?
If it was the factory red it would have been code 81U Bright Red.
Yes, 81U red.
Beautiful car! What company did the restoration?

Hardly the equivalent of a ZL1. 😆
@@mikewarren6774 not performance wise ofc lol. We can all dream.
@nobreaks3305 Fellow Z28 owner 👍 I have a 2015 Z28.
I also had a '86 camaro v6 I bought new
Question? Where ia the interior ordered from?
Wow!
Beautiful awesome
I thought 1LE along with the G92 had dual catalyst exhaust?
Where in the hell did you find all the parts to restore it back to original?
Why A/C delete tho?
I’m not a 3rd Gen Camaro expert. But my guess is that because this car was built for the Players Challenge that it had A/C delete.
1LE package automatically deleted a/c, it was a road race package, lightweight, stiffer suspension, larger Vette style brakes...etc.
Actually, it is 1 of 74 Player's Challenge Series cars that were made in 1989. I'm guessing this was one of the spare cars that wasn't raced or it would've been in worse shape.

Souls of bought a new front bumper cover. That one is sagging.
Not a 1le. Just a regular iroc z. Trying to make it sound better than it is. Making money.
Why would anyone want a 1le anyways. Regular Irocs were better equipped.....and 10hp? Please
