I bought a 77 in 1987 for 400bks. Drove that tank for 3yrs, never failed me with the exception of the brakes. They were terrible but easy to fix. Sold to a friend of mine who drove it couple more years. Only problem he had was having to give the beans to get up a steep hill..lol

Like going back in a time machine, those sounds! Every one that I have ever know was just driven until the wheels fell off, I'm surprised someone had to foresight to stash a new one away.

More than likely it has 100,800 miles. Speedometers on American cars reset at 100,000 miles. Do the research. I’m old. I know.

I had a 1977 Chevette, it was cramped, the transmission didn't want to go into reverse and if you forced it you broke it, i'm sorry i bought that and my 1980, brakes faded badly.

Had 1977 for 5 years, then bought a Cavalier. I used it to commute about 20 miles and it was adequate. It just came to my mind and I looked up Chevette on UA-cam. Your story is incomplete, why would this utilitarian vehicle have only 800 miles on it? To me that’s why I clicked on the video, a Chevette is hardly a classic vehicle, a Corvair I could see.

It is my belief that no other manufacturer has built more cool cars than Plymouth.

I would never get Auto On american muscle car.

GM built these T body cars all over the world for many years. They were good basic transportation and a very good price point. Being rear wheel drive they actually had somewhat sporty handling due to good weight balance. The models with the Isuzu diesel had no problems getting well over 50 mpg.

THE RPO CODE SHEET will end the debate about 1LE. There is a code for AC delete and radio delete. The car IS NOT a 1LE if there is a radio RPO code… AC delete and Radio Delete AUTOMATICALLY triggered the 1 LE Option which you paid for….1 LE option included 4 wheel corvette disc brakes and the dual Cat exhaust system. There is an RPO CODE. For aluminum drive shaft and baffled fuel tank. No 1 LE car came with power anything. They were basic optioned cars. Also the 1 LE car had a small badge located on the front fender behind the wheel, the badge was drilled Into the fender leaving holes if removed. Thanks and have a nice day

Amazing how generic and basic these cars were. My Dad had a 86 that went to 200k and then died, was a 5sp manual with just a basic AM radio and crank windows. Was definitely a great answer to the compact foreign auto manufacturer entries like the Volkswagen Rabbit, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentre etc. Basic as Basic comes, typical GM ✌🏽🇺🇲

I had a new 78 Chevette, dark blue with a manual shift. I also said the "I have a Vette" thing....I always thought it strange that the steering column didn't face straight ahead, but instead angled noticeably to the right. After 3 years I had a Fred Flintstone hole under my feet and could see the pavement below as I drove. I used a cookie sheet pan to solve that problem. Had it until late 1983. No AC, but it didn't really bother me. Great memories--oh, to be in college again.
