Another example of jobs I go to as a gas engineer.
Tools used in this video:
Voltage Tester Screwdriver: amzn.to/3HXHeEF
Multimeter: amzn.to/3xglZca
Bahco Adjustable Spanner: amzn.to/3lupI3c
Knipex Grips: amzn.to/3lkGphi
Rothenberger U-Gauge (Manometer): amzn.to/3XFgKxz
Boiler Drain Down Hose: amzn.to/3RQ5htD
Rothenberger Spanner: amzn.to/3Xt9Yuo
Rigid Gas Sniffer: amzn.to/3jYHAmd
Leak Detection Fluid: amzn.to/3xlCsf0
Magnaclean Filter: amzn.to/3xgYnnN
Regin Vessel Pump: amzn.to/3jSfnO4
Folding Bucket: amzn.to/3XmgLWN
Larger Drain Down Hose For Boilers: amzn.to/3jZdyib
Draper Screwdriver Roll/Set: amzn.to/3Xmh6Zz
Rems Press Gun Set: amzn.to/3HSLsgA
Here is a list of the jobs I did:
Changed over a zone valve (2 port valve)
Changed over a flow valve
Found and repaired a gas leak
Completed a gas safety check
Fixed a leaking magnetic filter
Replaced a pressure gauge
Replaced a boiler pump
Changed a leaking gas hob
Lock the zone valve into manual position on all Honeywell valves, they slip right off then mate. Not doing that and prising it off can cause the spindle to come off with it and you've got a bad leak on your hands. Been there.
I’m an engineer too, you done really good, exactly what I would have done. 👍 The only thing that I would benefit from is buying one of those press fit guns for the press fit fittings. Great job 👍👍
Being a old school plumber I would have bent all the pipework up with only one joint and solderd it
Regarding to the stone you found in the pump it happens quite often and many times is the solder from the pipes 😉
Beautiful work as always your pipe works fantastic and I really enjoyed looking at this how you did it and most important part is you did put isolation valve so the small isolator gets isolated that's brilliant so yeah it's all good it's all good and but I think in your videos be more see about the pipe works and connexion but I think I personally would advise to cheque the bonding as well because bonding is very important and need to be connected to the gas pipes you're going to make sure they are i'm not saying in this case is not but I'm just saying bonding connexion also we need to cheque the the the safety devices Flame picture all these things I know you don't mention it in your Videos fine I'm hay with it but when we installed the hub we look at the flame picture we look at the gas cut out device which win is return a flame on and then we turn it off and we wait for click thermocouple we need to hear them the clicking and so it's all good it's all good we're very pleased to watch your videos as always ffd flame failure device
Best way to check if gas valve is passing is to carry out a local tightness test at inlet of gas valve
I use car oil filter pliers to remove magna lids, works a treat!
The leaking valve and I usually do all wet works first then the electrics. Good video, press gun is awesome.
I had a brand new filter start leaking and it was just the dirt on the threads once cleaned it tightened fine.
Great video, it's nice to watch this format of a selection of jobs, your very informative on how you investigate the issues. The best I've seen anywhere. Thank you. Looking forward for more.
Thanks for the comment! There will definitely be more episodes 💪
Thanks u great, once again keep them coming

stone in water system probably got there when the copper pipe was outside on the ground a small stone got wedged inside - with the water flow finally ended up at the pump. PB had a similar stone he found in some pipe work
That’s crazy, hopefully that was the only stone in the system 😅
Just came across your channel always enjoy fault finding videos please keep them coming 👍
🫡💪
Absolutely brilliant I've worked for bg for over 20 years
You clearly know ur trade
The worst job is a hydroblock on a gloworm
Get a pair of mechanics oil filter grips from Amazon. Great for tightening filters 👍
Hi mate you are the best but you should not used silicone on gas hob.
indeed
Another very nice video mister, thanks for posting it for us to view 👍🏻
💪💪
I found a stone in a worcester bosch. It was stuck in the diverter valve for years (at a mates house) and it's had worn into a tiny perfect circle..
That’s so weird! I’m guessing the boiler worked fine with it in there as you said the stone was in there for years?
@@advancedboilertraining yeh worked fine until it got jammed in the diverter valve paddle.. it was an interesting one.
Full of knowledge and information, beautiful video
Good vid bro just at the training centers learning everything abut it so it helps
Glad to hear that Bilal💪
Always peg the lever on any motorized valve before trying to remove from base peg nee head open and refit to base makes life easier
Nice one , that Ridgid sniffer seem's a bit slow to pick up and it needs replacement batteries , you would be better getting the Anton with re chargeable battery as it's really sensitive and can pin point a leak pretty quick.... 👍
Interesting! If this one dies on me then I’ll take a look into the Anton one
I have one of those rigid sniffers and it's really poor. I had a regin one previously and it was much better. Seeing your issues makes me realise how it's a problem with the analyser and it needs to go in the bin! @@advancedboilertraining
Great content, well explained mate.
Exellent job bud,well done
LDF would save alot of time in small spaces like this. Get a spray one and blitz every fitting. Wipe off when done. Job done.
Yeah I used LDF in my most recent video. It helped me find a leak on tracpipe that I was struggling to find
Long live LDF
Fantastic great video im studying my gas and im liking your videos
Hope you’ve learnt a thing or two👍
i have change one with a screw in the impeller
Another great video thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you!💪
On the zone valve job, I noticed the PRV pipe wasn;t piped up? Did you sort it?
Brilliant man
been watching your vids for a while now, loving this new format!
priceless knowledge being passed on, top man
Thanks Amar, glad to hear you’re enjoying it!💪
Good vid pal
Thank you Gary! The comment means a lot 👊
Great video dude 👍
Thank you!👊
Love fault finding
any advice on completing the gas Write up parts, once you've gone out with a competent engineer and taken some pics.
Need too slide the zone valve over before removing the screws you removed were to free the Synchron motor
Yeah that’s the first thing I tried off camera as I know when putting the motor back on, sometimes you need to slide it over to get it back on. When sliding it over, it still seemed stuck which is why I just used the screwdriver
Keep the uploads coming out in the field sometimes you have to do whats not conventional but add it to your Repertoire of techniques get the job done and get paid!
Could have been in the pipe somewhere from when it was installed and worked it’s way to the pump.
I am just wondering about the clearance on the hob from the back is it 50mm ? Because it don't look like !
What's the loud TV in a background 😉
Nice video pal 👍🏻
Thanks Shaun, I really appreciate it! 👊
Put a towel down on the worktops you rough bastard 😂
🤣🤣🤣 dw next video you’ll see a towel
could you not have used a 5 way, rather than potentially mess up the wiring in the wiring centre. Could save a big headache! ;-)
Can't believe that customer called the pro in, then when you were getting a new part, nearly burned his house down because he didn't want to replace the part!!!! LOL!
Can I ask you where did you get the water bag ? I using the heavy duty onces or small bucket . Thanks
I got it off Amazon, it’s called a folding bucket 👍
Thank you really appreciate it and very useful videos of all the fault's 👍
nice video
Where can i get the drain hose from i normally sometimes use the u guage hose but for some boilers its to small.
Hi were did you get the bag for collecting the water from
If you type in folding water bucket on Google or Amazon you should be able to find it
Anyone else see the prv on the first boiler?
fab great job
Thanks Mike!
Think u will find that putting silicone around hobs contravenes most manufacturers installation instructions cos it makes hobs difficult to repair if needed and can also cause damage to a laminate work top if it's removed it can pull laminate away from chipboard base
Interesting! Didn’t know that, I’ll keep that in mind when the next customer asks me to silicone it 👍
Never seen it in the instructions where it says DO NOT use silicone... can you provide examples please. I'm also interested.
Hi, really good videos. I'm returning to the gas after a 5 year break and reminding my self of what to expect. If you find a difficult to remove hob that's siliconed in, try running a blade to break the grip of the silicone first. Are you Self employed or with a firm?
Common them quarter turn valve leaking them had a few
if the engineer did tell the customer to remove the case from the boiler to free the pump, I would question his competency and ethics, as it looked like the case formed the combustion seal, so only Gas Safe Operatives should remove it, not a customer. I have never seen a smoking S plan valve. some nice jobs there tho :)
Do you ever just use ldf?
Yeah but I prefer the sniffer. I find it more reliable. I’ve got a video I’m going to post next week showing why
Absolutely hate those hob connections.
They’re terrible 😴
As a service engineer myself, I'm deeply upset that you're using a flat head screwdriver on a cross head screw. The bloke who taught me would have bollocked me for that one 😂 seriously, though it was a great informative video. Hopefully, bringing more younger people in our trade.
What make gas sniffer is that?
It's a rigid gas sniffer, you can get one for roughly 100ish
Seriously 😳😳
@@jockster5525 what’s wrong with asking about a specific brand? If he’s using it I can check out the reviews and specifications to see it will suit me. I’m sure it’s not a problem for him but seems to be for you , although I’m not asking you 😂
Loving your videos mate any chance of a van tour 👌🏻
@@MrTAGMAN07 haha I’ll have to give it a tidy first!🤣
5 amp fuse 🤔
Yeah that’s what they had in there already🤷♂️ I put in a 3 amp
Do you not own LDF?
Yeah I used it on the hob gas leak. Just always preferred the sniffer
It’s never let me down. Apart from this one time and that was because of the batteries
Just seems that for small areas like that the LDF would save you alot of time
@@MMKLYH yeah I see what you mean
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Butterfly valves pal
Hi brov I am Naeem new Gas engineer any chance can I see you I like your video
lmao
Any body have job ? Am living in born mouth from India I clean boiler and all radiators. I make radiators nice and clean shiny and check pressures of boilers please also I can clean flu
as if. You can't even copy the name of the town you apparently live in correctly!
Great thanks for your efforts 😊👍
My pleasure 💪 thanks for always commenting!
So possibly the old pump could have gone back in or was it burnt out? Good work 👍
Did you put the new pump in id of stuck old one back in and told customer keep an eye on it 🫡
Yeah i put the new one in. The old one wasn’t spinning smooth so I gave the customer the choice and she said to put the new one in just in case. She didn’t want the hassle
