    When I learned tre flips, I found using the pocket allowed you to do short, fast ones and using the very end of the tail gives you slower but higher tres. I for whatever reason can't catch them low because of how fast it spins so I actually learned my tres that way. I think it's better to learn it like that too because when I send a low one, I jump forwards onto it but the board stays 100% under me when I jump straight up with the higher pop. Another thing is the placement of your rear foot. If you point your toes away from each other, (pop toes facing back) it'll pop higher and even slower than that. It's all experimentation. I can do tres with 3 different foot positions now, all at different heights and speed because I payed attention and studied what I was doing right and wrong.

      Dude the putting your backfoot on the end of the tail has just made things click for me, when I put it in the pocket my tre flips go low and it’s hard to catch but when I put it on the edge of the tail its higher, you made me realize this thanks.

      Dude, thank you for this comment. I've been doing them from the pocket and never been consistent because the jumping forward makes me drag toes or straight up miss time it and I've always wanted to get them to stay under me

      @@reza_dc2 I used to do them right in the pocket, where the curve starts, and I'd have to jump forwards. Now I do them with my foot like halfway up the tail and scoop back but also in towards the nose instead of just backwards like a shuv

    • @gawdlyinhale4203
      @gawdlyinhale4203 2 роки тому

      yeah straight up though, when i first learned my tre's i kept my foot in the pocket, as i got more comfortable with them, i slowly started moving my foot more on the tail and further back, i eventually was able to do them every single time, no matter the foot positioning, i really think its about having that foot further back and mastering the scoop with your back foot, and the slight flick with your front foot (not necessary to flick with the front foot, but if you want a really fast tre flip that you catch while your still gaining height, you gotta learn that flick for the speed of the rotation)

    I've been learning 360 flip for a year, old guy, catching it with front foot, not landing yet, BUT this has helped me: before the pop, LIFT THE HEEL of your popping foot off the board! This also helps to find balance. Literally WRAP the corner of your tail with your toes. Center your weight over the REAR TRUCK (only) as this enables you to bomb it into the pop. Then it's a bit LESS SCOOP and MORE POP. As the skater said, focus on the pop, not on jumping anywhere. As Dan has shown, do not even think of the front foot, it doesn't do much.

    • @pistopit7142
      @pistopit7142 3 місяці тому

      Yup agree with all you have said. My bigest problem is to stay above it. Can only land it with front foot but back foot goes straight to the ground after scooping motion. It's a very bad muscle memory Ineed to get rid of somehow.

  • @Guitartabsandtechniques
    @Guitartabsandtechniques 3 роки тому

    Yes please that idea of different skater 360 flips really appeals! I don't use front my foot much in my tre flips but my back foot isn't as much on the edge like this guy. My back foot is ugly when i want to land tres, I have to hang my toes off a lot on the tail. Deffo trying the jump up rather than forward tip! I honestly could watch you talk about tricks all day, i know you must get this a lot, but you've inspired me to get back into skating (fellow 33 year old) the best feeling landing new tricks re-learning old ones. I am a bum to you sir! but am inspired to pat the horn of the bull you have mercilessly grabbed!

  • @jonny_skatez
    @jonny_skatez 3 роки тому +1

    May i add something, its about the pressure he puts on the board before he pops. He keeps his weight over the front foot and pops hard straight down with his back foot in that position, naturally scooping it just cause of where his toes are. For a split second he is bending the board between the his front and back foot, then his front toe is letting go as the nose raises up. Its a small bit of force but it initiates the small flip thats needed.

  • @ReeWebster

    There’s a key factor to everything with pop here: kicking the tail sends the board into the air on its own, pop comes from executing the front foot movement at the peak of this initial bit of air. Those high 360s come as a result of using front foot to do nothing but block/deflect the rail of the broad so it doesn’t flip the wrong way, and that blocking deflecting is done early on as the board is still traveling upward from said initial kick.

  • @browniegames865
    @browniegames865 3 роки тому +1

    Thats so cool. I can only imagine the amount of pressure u can build in ur back foot when ur jumping straight up and not using ur front foot to flick. All the energy used to jump forward is instead put into the pop. Nice.

    This perspective helped me a lot. What was hiding me back was trying to make them flat like a varial flip. From my point of view it feels like it's flipping end over end. I figured this out learning 3 shuvs. I was accidentally getting 360 flips rotation.

  • @SkateNCreate90
    @SkateNCreate90 3 роки тому +5

    It's the Felipe Gustavo way. They somehow do it entirely with the back foot. Ellis Frost did a video on how to do it but I cannot figure it out AT ALL.

    • @ezedjay
      @ezedjay 3 роки тому +1

      You cannot do a tre entirely with the back foot. Not possible. Front foot has to be there - doesn't do much but it has to be there to at least slightly bonk the board off and make the flip go the right way. If the front foot isn't involved the flip goes the opposite way - and is just a pressure flip instead. Haley did a proper tutorial on it today :)

    • @SkateNCreate90
      @SkateNCreate90 3 роки тому

      @@ezedjay It is possible. Watch the video Ellis Frost did on it. He even does one with his foot hanging off his nose to prove he doesn't use his front foot at all.

    • @ezedjay
      @ezedjay 3 роки тому

      Hey Cody. How's things? Hope you're all good - I'm not just being a dick by the way. I've skated since the 80's - I've seen the 360flip techniques go more back foot over the years.
      I'm very familiar with that Ellis video - I watched it a whole load of times. Still looks to me like the front foot is involved in a very subtle way. When the tail hits the ground it pops back up again against minimal contact the front foot has with the board - just a tiny tiny little bit but it's enough to lift the edge of the tail up high enough to get the side of the back foot right under the edge and scoop up and forwards.
      I'm being picky I know :) I'd say 98% back foot / 2%front foot when Ellis does them :)
      He's definitely flipping it with his back foot - but the front foot still needs to be there to get the board into the position where the backfoot can do its scoopy flick. It's hard to explain it lol.

    • @erekbrown3886
      @erekbrown3886 3 роки тому

      @@ezedjay I actually just learned no comply tre's the other day, and to get it right I had to learn to pop the board with only my back foot while standing on the ground before I tried it rolling with both feet on the board. It is pressure that gets the board flipping and it does end up looking pretty vertical - but it is rotating like a 360 flip not a 360 inward heel. Try it, it's not only possible but also pretty easy
