Definitely bro 🙌🏾 it's crazy that I'm just getting to grips with how powerful it is. The CST in mlvapp was something I really neglected and it's extremely handy.
Hey Patrick, thank you bro and hope everything is going well? 1080 is the way man... although I have seen great high quality footage with the other modes it's more about reliability for me.
Ya same here especially I film all the time by myself one-man crew I just don't want to worry about other issues try to keep it as simple as possible 👍🏾🤓
Ha ha! Been shooting EOS M Magic Lantern stuff for quite a few years now and never had aliasing and moire because I always put it on a small table top tripod. Thanks for this video! And well done on the M-Lite - well deserved! Onwards and upwards!
A laughed so hard when you came up with Better call Saul, my favourite series ever, partly because of the brilliant static shots. Also it's a nice turorial for newcomers, great job as always 👊
Lol man...the cinematography on that show is wild! I was fully invested in the story but the cinematography kept on pulling me out.... filmmaker problems lol. Thank you
Great Lesson Cole and even better footage/colors. Especially that shot of you outside on the balcony 🤌🏽 I think I may start testing out 1080 a bit more🤔 Thanks for the shout out. Looking forward to collaborating! 🤝
That's so good to hear and thank you. I'm really want to slow things down and try to simplify this whole magic lantern thing. It can be a really simple experience
Awesome video Colin!! So excited to have you back sharing wisdom with the community. The footage looks so clean!! Also, kudos on the M-Lite!! I'm excited to pick one up soon!!
Thanks so much!! Really appreciate that. Yeah the footage is amazing...I feel like I've just got started with the m. The footage I'm getting is coming out a lot better now. Thanks for considering to purchase an M-Lite. Hopefully more reviews start popping up soon.
Nice video! But I would be more interested in the build or settings used. Seems most of the information on UA-cam is quite out of date. I have tried 5 or 6 different builds and can barely get a short and useable clip?
@@Altcine We are waiting, please hurry. And for those of who want to avoid scaling, please show how get 1920x1080 (1080p} from the 2k preset. Some times it works and sometimes not. Also include the release date.
Great to see you back man, I missed you. Looking really fit as well, the break must have done you good. Thanks for yet another excellent EOS M vid. All the best from Aus!
You did a great job, I've been waiting for a tutorial like this for a long time. I encourage you to keep it up, we can do so much with the EOS M in terms of quality imaging and with the new M-Lite things can be taken to another level. Congratulations, keep going.
Great infos Colin., THX for sharing 👌. Although 1080p is not what I primarily use in my shooting, will try this mode again and, at the same time, apply your indications/suggestions on how to reduce/get rid of any residual moirè/aliasing.
Thank you mate. Whatever you're doing.... you're doing it right. Your last video is superb and I suggest anyone who sees this comment to go watch it. One of the best examples of slomo that I've seen.
@@Altcine Well, thanks a lot for that 🙏 To me it just looked OK 😁 Of course I did put some effort in it (even in post, not only on "set") as I always do. If it came out that good then I'm very pleased for that, especially because, as you might guess, it was totally improvised and NOT planned.
Welcome back mate. Yeah the intro footage looks really nice. What I most like about the intro stuff is that I didn't shoot a million shots and choose the best ones. I shot them just once and moved on. Really getting a deeper understanding of the m now.
Thanks for watching. Quite a few of the modes have unlimited record length now as long as you have the right card. Stick with 1080 & 5k Anamorphic frtp for now and you won't get many issues with recording length.
The clipping (or whatever it’s called) on the Range Rover is interesting and representative of many of those subtle yet distracting aberrations. Would love to learn more about why 1080 is your preferred resolution, especially as we are dealing with a different set of compromises. Don’t underscore static shots - if it’s good enough for David Fincher the rest of us hobos can probably gain something from it.
Yeah it's one of the downsides to 1080 but the higher res modes have crazy rolling shutter which can be visible with very slight movement. David fincher is a great example and if you can do mostly static shots then the high Res modes are perfect.
1:13 Uhhh, i hate to be that guy, but the 5k anamorphic frtp mode set to 1736x2180 is way sharper than the 1080 mode, and it has major reduction in aliasing. I do agree with the 1080 mode being more reliable, but sharp, ehhh idk about that
I'm trying to use 1080p mode today, with latest danne build from Feb14. I use an external monitor and hit record, the entire camera hard freezes when I stop recording, I have to pull the battery and restart twice to get back up. Also 3x crop hasn't worked for several months, wondering if you know of a good older version of ML that works well with monitors?
Hi, sorry for late reply. I use a build from last year September which works well with monitors. New builds are cool but once I find one that works well I usually just stick with it. Try to find one from last year...mine is 20/09/2022
I just got my eos m and installed ML right away. I really don’t have a clue how to start with ML. It seems like it doesn’t work right. I get raw error detect message. Then disabled the raw. Now the footage that I get aren’t smooth. They are so slow. I also get the pink glitch screen. Could you make a video on how ML should look like when you start using it and the ideal settings for a particular style.
@@Altcine oh thanks for tip! Now the ML is working but stops automatically. Sadly after one second. My sd card is sandisk extreme pro 128gb. So I guess that's not causing the problem.
Crop mood works a little different to Dannes build. In any resolution over 1080p I'm usually in 10bit raw. Did you disable Global draw as I'm this video?
@@Altcine I’m having my period now. You bouncing back so quickly and beaming with energy is truly inspiring. Gotta dig a bit deeper for my own well and it’ll take some time. We’ll get there eventually.
Folks keep talking about 5k. I have never gotten 5k to work.. Nothing but flashing which I can record. And, why is called 5k when it is only 17xx! Of course 1080p is not really 1080p, but it does at least work. So when you do your setup video I'd love you to talk about the 2 presets.
@@Altcine im doing ok. I had to have some neck surgery. It's called ACDF. I had to have two of my spinal vertebrae fused together. It's tough recovery but I have made it through with prayers from a lot of friends and family.

@@Altcine It was more a preference for shooting static/locked off shoots rather than actually realising the obvious - more by accident by design.

Awesome, glad ppl where hyped for your EOSM and that your going to be doing more videos on the M. Thanks
Yeah it was a great feeling, came away from the show buzzing. Having so much fun with the m now and it feels right to go down this path.

In my tests yes. Some say no but I'm adamant that it is.

Much better than 1080. Sometimes you have to flick between the 2 depending on the scene.
