RIP Dickey Betts and thanks for doing the best you can.
Glad there’s people still regularly watching this. All time performance
And you did great! RIP❤
WOW!! Thank you Dickey Betts for keeping the band going when times got hard for the brothers. Ramblin Man was all you! May your spirit continue to ramble!!
Thank you, Dickey, for all the music that you gave to all of us to enjoy. I remember being an 8 yr old "rolling down HWY 41 " with my Mom in Sarasota listening to this. Fly High Dickey . We love you and will miss you
Me, too!
Travelled over 2,500 miles in '73 to see/hear this band by bus as air/train strikes on! Air con on bus broke down while going through prairies during heat wave (people puking all over bus. Driver said push or kick out windows!! Concert line-up: James Cotton Blues Band, Boz Scaggs then the Allman Brothers! What a treat and night!! Ticket cost $5.00, evening forever priceless!!!!!!!!!!
Rest in peace, legend
Didn’t really wanna cry today. RIP Dickey.
I went to college in the late 80s --- sure wish I could've seen Dickey just jammin' away at my campus like this --- RIP, great one
When it’s time for leaving, I hope you’ll understand… Rock in Peace, Forrest Richard “Dickey” Betts.

I was so sorry to hear of Dickey Betts passing . May he RIP . I remember him well , he was my intro into Southern Rock and I listened ever since then .
At 66 years old I was 15 in 1973 and my 21 year old brother and I joined the carnival that summer and traveled with them for 6 weeks around Michigan. My Bro is gone now 10 years and so whenever this song comes on I have good memories of that summer
What Good Memories Thankyou For Your Short Story
Loving you Mr. Betts since I was 14. I'm 68 now. Thank you.
Beautiful memories of driving on vacation across our great country with my kids and my high school sweetheart wife that passed away 20 years ago. Thank you brother!! You will be missed.
RIP to one of the best to ever do it. Thanks for all the music Dickey.

I pray my old friend Fly Brooks picks him up at the airport in Rock & Roll Heaven. Those two rambled together, around the World 3 complete times, when they played in the Elvin Bishop Band. RIP 🙏

Incredibly amazing! He played like a legend
Dickey Betts guitar brilliance was second only to his handsomeness, what a stud. RIP Richard ❤🙏
That is the greatest version of 'ramblin' man' I've ever heard!! God bless you Dickey.
RIP Dickey Betts!
I just had an eargasm.
Me too!
👍🏻
All time favorite band ,no one sounded like them when they hit the scene!
RIP Dickey see you later...thanks for the good times
RIP Mr. Betts. Thank you for your music
What a legacy of music dickie left behind’s
The Allman Brothers family tree will carry the torch!!
The magic of DB was he probably never played it the same way twice. Legend
R.I.P. Ramble on.....
One of the greatest songs ever made & Betts one of the greatest guitarists ever!
This is a treasure of the American Southern Music .
DB probably played this song a thousand times by then but never lost enthusiasm for it. Always a great performance. At his worst is still better than most at their best. No one can play like him.
Yeah, no-one ... not even Duane (imho).
Z1000Jeff I think Duane had more soulful solos, but Dickey was the more rounded guitarist. He could play lead and lay down rhythm second to none in rock.
@@Alpine_Joe Ya going a little overboard there even Dicky will tell you that and he has a high opinion of himself lol
@@taylorpelletier89 Have you ever heard Duane play??
@@chuckydall9250 of course. Dickey is the better rhythm player imo. Also, the more accomplished musician. He could write hits. Don't believe Duane had much prowess in that regard.
What an absolute Rock God
Dicky was a badass
Dickies solo at the end!! Need I say more?
RIP my friend
Gone but the music will never be forgotten!!
That man is a Legend
Always loved Dickey Betts sound. Hell of a guitar player very smooth melodic runs.
I can see those tall pines in the background of audience, and moss on other trees, 🐊 Go Gators. Great music.
RIP Dickey
It was one hell.of a ride. Oh yeah.
😁🍺👍❤
My only complaint is too short. Could hear that lick over and over.
RIP Brother
No Dickey, thank YOU! Almost have the whole band back together now.
Rest in peace, Dickey.
RIP, Dickey!
Rest in peace Dickie Betts
Duane and Greg are in Heaven playing this classic. We miss you guys. God bless the Allman Bros. Band
Do your homework, guy! How should Duane play a song that he does not even know? The song is from 1973 and he unfortunately died in 1971
@@joe22589 If you believe in the afterlife then it should seem feasible that Duane has heard and played along with this song many times.
@@Davilow haha. Afterlife and all that crap is not my cup of tea. We have our time on earth - and that's it. I do not even think that there is a guitar shop in heaven
@@joe22589 Duane did hear this song. Know your history. Dickey played him a demo on the gatlinburg tapes
"We gon' do another song for ya called...goes like this....entitled..."
...the best song ever made.
RIP Dickey 🎸🍊
RIP Dickey, April 18th, 2024
"IN MEMORIAM": DICKEY BETTS (THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND / DICKEY BETTS & GREAT SOUTHERN / DICKEY BETTS BAND) (1943-2024)
Stunning brilliance from Dickey.
RIP Dickey Betts 🤘🙏
Had no idea Dickey Betts was such a shredder! There's a lot of music out there to listen to and I admittedly know way more about jazz than i do blues swampy rock but he's a great picker!
Most shredders have no soul, Dickey, well he got plenty
How could you not know ? ❤️
@@blindboygrunt7711 I wouldn't exactly call Dicky a shredder in the way they use the word now he could play fast and flashy but it had soul unlike shit today that is fast just for the sake of being fast!
1:13 Nice to see that Cher remained on good terms with the band and jumped in on backing vocals.
That wasn't Cher, it was Yoko Ono.
RIP Dickey ❤
Absolutely sensational. Strange Mr Betts wasn’t generally mentioned when people argued over who were the top guitarists of the 60s and 70s. Listening to this, it’s hard to think of anyone better - on a par, but not better.
His voice is so soothing even when he talks
Dickey is probably the most melodic guitarist ever, but i can give you a few better in my opinion,God (only God can create a Stairway), Paul Kossoff, Richie Blackmore, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Angus + George Young. There's a few. But yes, Dickey is right up there high on the list, along with Duane, pretty much the only 2 Septics i rate.
My two favorite guitarists are Dickie Betts, and Scott Gorham. Everyone else to me personally, can get in line behind them.
RIP x
The best. One of my favourite songs all time !!!! Like these sound and feeling of D.Betts Guitar. All Band is great !
If this was the only song I’ve ever heard in my life I’d be content
"We're gonna do another tune for ya, called uh, go like this, entitled..." LMAO! Mr. Betts is the man!
Rest in Peace Dickey Betts.
Prayers to the Ramblin' Man! Get well soon, Dickey!
Godspeed Dickey.
coolest cool
To Mr. Dickey Betts in Heaven , 2 words , THANK YOU !
Man this tone!!!! wonderful
Genius!
Dickey rocking that Goldtop!!! He has wicked skills, as always....!
Come on! 2 mistakes in 1 solo. That is not one of his good performances
@@joe22589 his Goldtop is longer gold. He refinished himself (apparently in his garage) in red back in the 90s after it he thought it was looking a little rough.
Beacan Ó Donnghaile he’s got several goldtops, the one the in the video is still gold.
He blistered that poor standard…
hell heah
And that's why we jumped the fence. Jersey City... 1972 sold out show
Smokey and the Bandit days!
Dickey Betts, ladies and gentlemen. Dickey Betts!
Lord, I was born a ramblin' man,
Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
And when it's time for leavin',
I hope you'll understand,
That I was born a ramblin' man.
My father was a gambler down in Georgia,
And he wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin' down highway 41.
Lord, I was born a ramblin' man,
Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
And when it's time for leavin',

I'm on my way to New Orleans this mornin',
Leaving out of Nashville, Tennessee,
They're always having a good time down on the bayou, Lord
Them Delta women think the world of me.

Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
