How lucky are we who grew up with the ABB, and now that we are on the homestretch of our time on earth, we have great artists like this to see us home?
i grew up with my dads radio playing all the great classic rock bands, and now im 20 with a legendary musician to see live myself so i dont have to feel bad about when i was born
I thank god every day for talent like this, real musicians. When i turn on the radio every morning i loose faith in music, but then people like Billy comes along and remind me real music isn't dead
1- You are wrong. 2-You are still wrong. As for response to original statement. Billy uses lots of pedals and effects to get tons of amazing, non-traditional acoustic sounds, and it is wonderful.
Only Billy Stings can cover the Allman Brothers Band so well, Billy celebrates and honors the artist who came before him within his music covers. Thanks to Matt Harrison for including this one.
I love the big picture of dicky in the background in my opinion one of the greatest guitar players and I think he's a little bit underrated but he made the Allman Brothers who they are
I further this I was at this concert, the festival in St. Augustine best concert I’ve ever been to and first bluegrass…needless to say I’ll be back every year. On a side note you can camp there in one of the best state parks around.
This mother Fkr can play a guitar gives me cold chills just watching him get into it, best guitar player of my time so glad to have ran across this video 💯💜🤟
I knew Rich since I was about 16. He would come eat with us. We were also together, with other family members playing, on his, American Music Tour. This was so sentimental to me. His photo, with Wil preforming his Rambling Man, great hit, is so beautifully done, and spiritually moving. No one could ever preform it better, than my precious Wil. I LOVE YOU WILLIAM LEA APOSTOL. God bless you and the Billy Strings band members and crew. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It sucks that all the legends are passing away. Pretty soon all the classic rock bands will be gone. Seems like yesterday you could still see them all in concert.
I often despair about how the music has gone, the good music. But then guys like this come along, and there are quite a few. Some are as good or better than those they cover. And, the originals are still out there too, on the memory of the internet, and in my archives. So the music is not dead, it's sleeping, and can be awakened, and even re-born.
Its not just one guy. Get to know the band. Billy Strings - Lead Guitar & Vocals Royal Masat - Contrabass Billy Failing - Vocals, Banjo Alex Hargeaves - Fiddle Jarrod Walker - Mandolin, vocals
@@lloydthomas9793 oh I know. But “electric guitar effects” for an acoustic only get you so far. It’s amazing to see how he can replicate the intonation and feel that a les Paul would allow.
As I watch Billy Strings perform in several venues , I can’t help but think of Ry Cooder. They both began playing guitar when very very young under different circumstances. Ry lost an eye in an accident, and when a family friend visited he laid a guitar on Ry’s chest and started playing something. Ry later said that he didn’t know what he thought but that he knew what he felt. Billy Strings (a nick name) was taught guitar at a very young age by his stepfather. I think that both men were between 3 and 4 during this initiation to music. What I see in both of them despite the generations of age differences that both seem to be possessed by the music . I noticed in this performance that Billy actually replicated some of the rocking back and forth that Ry exhibited , just not to that extreme as Ry. Ry got it under control as he aged but not completely. Then there is what happens with their eyes. Very different indeed ; but nevertheless , I don’t think it could be faked for drama. If you watch enough of Billy Strings from youth to adult , he seems to be taken over or possessed by the music that is within him. You have to watch him to see what happens.
Thats cool how bluegrass influenced him so much ..youd think billy was straight from appalachia the way his music sounds ...but hes A1 with us here in appalachia 👍..
Me and my fiance saw Billy strings in Philly I can't remember where but that young man puts on a great show and he can play the guitar like really play more than just acoustic that boy can jam RIP dickey and long live Billy
How lucky are we who grew up with the ABB, and now that we are on the homestretch of our time on earth, we have great artists like this to see us home?
🥲
Well put sir.
I was thinking of something like that but Atari to smart phones. 🎉
i grew up with my dads radio playing all the great classic rock bands, and now im 20 with a legendary musician to see live myself so i dont have to feel bad about when i was born
That’s a big 10/4
I thank god every day for talent like this, real musicians. When i turn on the radio every morning i loose faith in music, but then people like Billy comes along and remind me real music isn't dead
Well put, Normac. Friday, 01 NOV - Billy Strings in Baltimore !!!
Amen!
Non-guitarists will not appreciate how hard it was to play those licks on an acoustic guitar.
I was amazed at these sounds coming from an acoustic guitar!!!
1- You are wrong. 2-You are still wrong. As for response to original statement. Billy uses lots of pedals and effects to get tons of amazing, non-traditional acoustic sounds, and it is wonderful.
Real guitarists don't have to go around patronizing people that don't play.
Blah blah blah
It ain’t hard for Billy Strings…😂
This is a perfect tribute to Dickie Betts a day after he died. One of the best performances I've ever seen.
Billys what mr grandma woukd call a good boy. Always showing respect to the ones who laid it down. Hes a ridiculous talent. Generational
Only Billy Stings can cover the Allman Brothers Band so well, Billy celebrates and honors the artist who came before him within his music covers. Thanks to Matt Harrison for including this one.
Tears in these old eyes. Great tribute by another FINE musician and his fellow players. Damn, Billy so YOUNG!!!! Just as we all once were....

At 3:52 when he does the intro to “Jessica” and makes it flow so effortlessly is just incredible!
The Allman Brothers are the best southern rock band n Billy is definitely doing this justice freaking great cover
I love the big picture of dicky in the background in my opinion one of the greatest guitar players and I think he's a little bit underrated but he made the Allman Brothers who they are
Dickie saved the Allman Brothers
had no idea he wrote their biggest hits and my favorites like Blue Sky and Jessica. tremendous musician
@@heavysmoke54yeah that’s why they kicked him out. Because he saved them. 🙄👎
I agree , Dicky was kind of looked over.
The Dickie-Warren era of ABB was my favorite
Wow, one days notice and they lay that down. RIP Dickie, many enjoyable roadtrips to your music!
Rip Dicky Betts, you represented some of the last of the old guard. And great to have Billy to continue to carry the torch
This is the fourth time I'm watching this.....nice tribute to Dickie Betts
Love Billy's playing.....
R.I.P. Mr Betts
Hot damn Billy Strings🤙
Great tribute to Dickey Betts, would have loved to have seen that live!❤
Come to St. Augustine next year. He does three nights every year. It’s absolutely the best time of your life

What a beautiful tribute and an awesome performance!!! Thank you Billy!! RIP Dickey❤
Lord, this is absolutely beautiful.
my old eyes are in wonderment of a great musician paying tribute to another. Billy - DO NOT LOSE YOUR SOUL.
Those were great guitar solos... very much in the vein of Dicky Betts' style, and a great tribute to him.
Fantastic tribute for DB, in FLA no less!
Absolutely phenomenal. What a tribute.
What a beautiful rendition of Ramblin' Man. You know Dickie'd have loved it.
Dickie Betts wrote one of the most beautiful pieces of music when penned Jessica. I just love that song and anything the ABB played. I miss my boys
His vocals have gotten so good in ten years. Hard work pays off!
That’s true his singing is always getting better
@@wesweldon8350 He's got a good voice teacher who has taught him correct abdominal breathing for power.
Dickie was one of the greatest. I will always love that sweet, clean, cheer that poured out of his guitar. Thanks for giving that to us, Billy!
Thanks for keeping it classic. RIP Dickey.
Never heard an acoustic sound SO much like an electric.
But that's Billy.
Wonderful rendition.
Effects pedals hah but it's def cool. I plug in my Taylor to some mild distortion here and there. The beauty of music 🤘
This mother Fkr can play a guitar gives me cold chills just watching him get into it, best guitar player of my time so glad to have ran across this video 💯💜🤟
Totally amazing thank you Billy for doing a excellent job playing a great song.
Everything he plays he turns it into something familar, but new! Absolutely incredible!!
I'm usually not a fan of covers but Billy can do no wrong ✌️

Just AWESOME tribute to Dickey!
Billy Strings & Terry Barber -- You're Americas folk heros. I love you, Billy!
Great! Both Allman brothers should be happy in Heaven that their legacy lives on via such nice renditions.
Beautiful and great tribute to another wood and steel master.
This kid got Talent on Top of Talent 😊😊😊
Billy expresses perfection and great delivery and since we’ve followed his growth---Hurray
Thank you kindly, young man, for that fine tribute! Billy and the Brothers forever!
Allman brothers saved the Fox theater in Atlanta from being destroyed. God bless them boys.
Goddamn right, saints in that town. Lived there 14 years and they are beloved
Can’t wait to see Billy at the Fox…one day…
Fantastic Rendition of My Favorite Band...Long Live The Allman Brothers Band!
It was incredibly beautiful! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy it again.
Words can't describe how fantastic that was on so many levels!
That young man can PLAY that guitar .
He may become one of the all time greats...he's still very young
Agree, all that on an acoustic. Wow
Great job Billy I know dicky would appreciate that awesome job Great picking
I’m sure Dickey would have appreciated this, Billy and company. A beautiful tribute from one brilliant artist to another. RIP Dickey
when it comes to guitar playing Dickie was superb, no question, and now along comes Billy Strings right up there with him.
Holy hell this is so cool. My new favorite cover of a Dickie song! Rock on Billy!
A Great Tribute to Mr. Betts Here, Thank You, I lived on Highway 41 Before this song came out, Cousin Figel
Excellent cover of a fine tune, Thanks.✌👍👍.
Wow!! Blown away! I still have the original album. Wow.
This is the best cover song of the ABB I have ever heard done if you listen closely he almost sound like if I'm right Greg allman
What? Billy is almost sounding like Gregg Allman?
It sucks that all the legends are passing away. Pretty soon all the classic rock bands will be gone. Seems like yesterday you could still see them all in concert.
Thanks bro. Absolutely phenomenal.✌️🇺🇲
Thanks for the professionalism you achieved in the making of this most excellent tribute.

Oh gosh I didn't even see the volume knob until his solo, that was a great cover.
I can’t believe he does that with an acoustic. 😊
Billy has lots of special effects pedals to work with.

All my fav classic bands are gone mainly Pink Floyd & ABB. Glad I got to see them live 8X and Gregg Allman solo band twice.
Beautiful tribute and so well grooved out. Wow
