@Ranch5150SkinWalker I'd run it into a 1x12 and mic it. I'm playing in a 5-piece with a B3 and a sax two feet to my left. I'd have to see if it could keep up. If not, what a cool little amp to have at home.
I love the demo! That was a great show of the quality and range of the amps! I would agree I love the sound of the JackmanII the best, but they all have a beautiful sound.

Yep, I was extremely skeptical, upon hearing all these folks swearing it makes a tremendous difference. I actually A/B’d a couple and I can tell you for a fact, there is absolutely no audible difference.
Yes I have a BlueJay too and its a great pedal amp. I usually use a little 5W amp, but with 20W I can crank it up a little louder with the BlueJay when I want. We rehearse with IEMs so everyone just brings their pedal board and guitar and plugs into the Joyo amps. They are small easily to keep in our small 12x24 rehearsal space and these are a great backup to have if you get to a gig and your amp dies. Just chuck one in the truck as a backup and go to the show. I run two of them in stereo as a pedal platform, absolutely amazing tone. Nice playing! I absolutely agree with the description! All have their own flavors and sound great.
Nice man. I have the Zombie and with an EQ or boost pedal, I think it's crushing. I had the Bluejay but it was lacking some bite. I think the one to go for is the Tweedy... It's got 2 channels, does cleans and has a really dirty drive channel. I bet it's a champ for taking pedals. That's my next purchase
@zombiemontage Great choice! I bought a JaCkMan II, which I love! Then I got a great deal on a ZoMBie II, it has great clean tones, and offers a little more gain. If... (when) I buy another... it will be a Meteor II. I also bought a BadASS bass amp, but I didn't get to try it out :'( it was a gift to my son ;)
Thanks for the comparison! Not sure which one I want but I definitely want one. Also, it kind of freaks me out thinking that your brick wall is falling 😂🤣
Great review Marty. I think this is the first Joyo amp demo where someone actually pointed out what each amp was inspired by. It's the effects loop on these that really sells it for me - I prefer to run any time-based affects through a loop, but too many amps come without one. I get where you are coming from with the Jackman - that you can always add drive, but it's harder to take saturation away. (Especially if you happen to have some really hot pickups) Having said that, I really liked the Meteor and the Zombie.
@@frankiechan9651 thanks man! It's hard for me to pick a favorite. They all do what they do very well. I do gravitate to the Meteor when using them. It's really got a nice high gain tone and it sounds awesome with delay. 😎🎸
As others may have pointed out, the FX loop means you can use these as a pre amp OR use external pre amps/distortion pedals straight into the squeaky clean power section
They all sound good. I'd like to see you demo the Blue Jay cranked as it's really meant to be. That's where the Blues Jr. shines. Dimed. Sure, they're nice and clean at low volume, but they're meant to be cranked. Find a single 12" speaker that will be pushed to the limit as that is part of what makes that classic sound. Try something equipped with P90s and jam to some Howling Wolf & Muddy Waters. You'll get the point.
You could build a great rig with a stereo 2x12 and pick two of the heads and run an AB/Y and use a heavy amp for drive and a cleaner amp for cleans and switch between then or run both . I teched for a tour where the guitarist did this with a bassman and a mesa dual rec and a jcm800 into a stereo cab . So the bassman was his clean channel and the two driven amps into the stereo quad was his drive channel . Wass the best cooking rig I’ve heard ever !
I have a ZOmbie 2 and couldnt be happier. Clean channel sounds fantastic, high gain is awesome for death metal as is. Or you can throw a distortion pedal in front of it to dirty it up even more for extreme tone. might get MeteOR after this demo
I bought the Joyo Atomic off of Amazon for $150 Cdn - with a gift certificate! I play through a small cab with a 10" celestion. Interested in picking up the Jackman because I have always dreamed of owning Marshal!
I bought the Meteor II last year and I must say, this thing is loud AF for the size ! I use it with a 2x12 Celestion Vintage 30 for the moment. It's very strange that I chose this one since I'm not an Orange amateur but it was overall one of the most versatiles of those amps in my taste. I just got to buy an EQ pedal to put in the loop (maybe) in order to trim down a bit the mediums and it could fit my tastes better. However, I bought it with the intention to put a TOnex in front and only use the power amp. With this config I got the best of all worlds and it's a small, light and portable setup. I almost forgot. The overall built feel very sturdy for the price.
I already own the Meteor II and Jackman II. The Meteor has a better distortion channel, out of the two, with a cleaner clean channel. The Jackman is louder, and, being modeled after the two channel version of the JCM800 amp, works better as a pedal platform for distortion and overdrive pedals, with both channels taking pedals into the front really well. My current setup involves a Joyo Argos Drive (gain = 9 o'clock, vol = 10) pushing the Meteor II (gain = noon), and a TC Eyemaster (gain = 0, vol = 10) into a Flamma Turbo Rat (gain = 9 o'clock, vol = 3 o'clock) pushing the front of the Jackman II (Gain 9 o'clock), with a Behringer BDI-21 in the FX loop (gain = 3 o'clock, blend = noon). I often swap out the Meteor II for an Orange Super Crush (gain = 6) if I need more volume. I run both amps through 1x12's, in parallel using an ABY. I play death metal, slam, deathcore, hardcore, etc, so not everyone's cup of tea
@@nickrooney6206 with the 33, you could probably honestly use any of the distortion based ones. Do you prefer a mid forward sound, or a scooped sound? Get the Zombie (even then, if you EQ it in post or with an EQ pedal in the loop, you can make it do anything). If it's mid forward, do you prefer to accentuate the low mids? Go for Meteor. Or upper mids? Get the Jackman. Are you downtuning, or using extended range guitars? IMO the British voiced, mid forward amps work better for downtuning/extended range - most of Fortin's own amps are based on modified Marshall circuits. The 33 cuts a lot of low end and is fairly mid forward, already, and most of Meshuggah's earlier records were recorded with either a Rectifier or the Line 6 POD on the Rectal Frier preamp, which mimics a Rectifier amp. Either way, if you're boosting the front end, all of these should have enough gain, except for maybe the Blue Jay, lol; even then, if you put a decent distortion in front of it, or a preamp pedal in the FX loop going into the front of the amp... If anything, try getting two, and layering them. If you go the layering route, make sure one of them is the Marshall, and pick either the Orange or the Mesa voiced one; with two, you can actually use them live, if you have an ABY and either two separate cabs or a stereo cab.
@ I picked up the zombie2 … haven’t gotten it yet, but I watched a few videos… I have a few petals the 33 I recently just got used so I wanted to try it out and it didn’t sound good on my 40W crate micro lol … but sometimes when I jam out, I actually play the drums but I like to play the guitar sometimes even though I stink when we go to the studio, they have a Marshall cabinet with 412 and they have a 15 W ox tube amplifier… 10 inch speaker as the head unit because somebody blew the Marshall head out… it’s decently loud and it sounds good with my BOSS I think I have a metal zone & the Hellstash.. which was made combining God city petals and I think somebody else abominable petals. I feel like it’s a high gain overdrive and I don’t really like it. I figured that’s why I would try the 33. It might be better and I also have a really good BJJ God city petal .. but all of them are gonna now go in front of the joyo Zombie 2 except for like I said, maybe the hellStash … if you get a chance on UA-cam and you can respond to me after watching it let me know what you think or what the Godcity Hellstash is :) thanks
@Michael-jv2cn I'm in exactly the same boat. My son claims, "all the modern metal bands use Orange amps"... so I'd kinda like one of the MeteOR II amps. My choice for best all-around JOYO mini amp: Tweedy! Try out the little 5 watt Hotone amps. They have even more styles, and for little couch amps, their ideal! Through a 2×12" cab, they are plenty loud!
Hot tip for the experienced, swap the generic tube out for your preferred choice of 12ax7, and a ten band EQ pedal in the FX loop, and a great little amp becomes a quality hybrid amplifier that sounds way more like a musicians tool than a cheap toy, like you might imagine these are.... My Jackman 2 roars, both through my gold back, black back, celestion g12m25 , Fender Blue label specialist, and acetone speakers
Great vid. I now know which to choose of the four. Being the 5150 guy that you are, I was surprised not to see the VIVO in the comparison. Perhaps you don't like it?
I have 3 of the 4. I actually use the BlueJay through a 1x15 cab and a beatbuddy drum pedal. I run the Jackman and Zombie in stereo through a 2x12 and 4x12 respectively. I have several full tube amps but these are so convenient and cool with the 12AX7 pre-amp.
commenting before watching, but i tried a zombie ii once and thought it sounded really great, loud too. i personally had no reason to get it but i would definitely recommend one if you want a rectifier sound for cheap
I haven't tried JOYO yet but really thinking about getting the king of kings overdrive sounds fantastic professional quality and I know JOYO has been getting a lot of Attention lately...
Great content, Marty! Is there any way you could demo the Joyo speaker? Just wondering if it'd be worth it. Rock On, Guitar Friends!!!! 🎸🤟🍺🥃🍻🍹🧑🌾🏴☠️🇺🇲
@Ranch5150SkinWalker Hi Marty. Have you tried the JOYO BadASS? I bought one and immediately shipped it off to my son as a present. I ended up buying a Hotone Thunder Bass, which is only 5 watts versus the JOYO @ 50 watts. I love little amps!
I got the tweedy which has an extra voice control for each channel. I think it’s the most versatile of the line for that reason alone. Would love to see it go head to head with the rest
Місяць тому+2
i don't get why they only make 20 watt versions. 60 watt poweramp circuits are tiny and cheap :/ because they sound amazing!
Had the black one. Sounded good and bonus that it has the effects loop. That said, the power supply bricked after a month and I have zero trust in their quality control as a result.
Did you use the factory 3 pronged power supply? Aftermarket 2 prong (without the ground) will ruin your amp. I have a Hotone amp, which uses the same 18V power supply. The previous owner used a non grounded power supply, and it wouldn't work.
Cheap switching power supplies can be iffy to say the least. If you value your equipment, it's a good idea to get something better from a reputable electronics supplier. Try to find something that is claimed to have good voltage stability and ripple current suppression.
@@pauln6803 The problem is: It's nearly impossible to buy an aftermarket power supply! I'm an electrician, so I know what to look for. Sellers are pushing ungrounded power supplies as suitable for JOYO or Hotone mini amps. *_THEY ARE NOT!!!_*
I have a few. The red one with a good od pedal is my favorite. The white 5150 thing is real similar to the red 800 but it's got more gain on tap. In spite of the 5150 association it's a kind of marshall sounding amp too.
The 12AX7 in these only run about 62v - so I think they're using the tube more to filter the solid state distortion rather than the tube itself creating all the gain.
You should mute your voice mic when you're playing because the pick noise is as loud as the amp so it's hard to hear the real sound of the amp. Other than that, thanks for the comparison ✌️
All have good sound depending on the speakers used. Just try on some speakers like celestion, eminence, mojotone etc., you will get a different tone. And don't forget the speaker cabinet too.
The JOYO Tweedy kicks the others asses! I have a JaCkMan II, and a ZoMBie II. Surprisingly, the Tweedy replicates an old Fender tweed amp... but this thing will out-chug the others, hands down!!!
They are pretty different than each other but they are so cheap to check out. Maybe buy from a place with a good return policy and keep all the packaging to send it back if you don't like it !?
@@lw1391 the JaCkMan II has that Marshall JCM800 sound and feel, but so far, the Tweedy impresses me the most of the three I own. You won't get as much gain, and you lose one control (voice). I still want a MeteOR II at some point. I will say, you won't be disappointed if you buy one, but it isn't the Tweedy!
You left out the best part about these great toys... they all have BLUETOOTH!!! I've learned so many parts to songs that ive missed. Just play along with audio! But, hey, I'm an old guy, it's high tech to me... One huge upgrade would be rechargeable lithium batteries!
@@davidstokes4630 Yes good feature. You have one? Good for playing 80's country music/ loud enough to play live using a 1/10" cabinet without having to mic up' 50/75 people?
Honest production critique here. If you went to the trouble of recording a mic”d cab for the sounds, you really should mute the live room audio during the tone samples so that it doesn’t blend with the mic’d audio. Your live string noise was just as loud and present as the amp tone that you were trying to show, which was counterintuitive to the point of the video.
True that. I did reduce in room mic levels when editing l. Trying to produce content and working 4 different music jobs makes for a quick turn around and time crunch. I do the best I can. 😁☮️🎸

Nice video. I have the Joyo AtomiC Amp with Greenback 1x12, the sound is incredible. I´m very happy with this combo.
I have the Zombie II and the Jackman II. I got a deal for both on Amazon last year. Pretty cool little amps.
Lucky guy !
@@KnuckleheadStuey I have both of those and a Tweedy... I'm in tiny amp heaven!
"It kinda acts like a volume as well." The electrical engineer side of me facepalmed at that one. Good overview of these amps, though. Thanks.
I bought the Joyo Atomic off of Amazon for $150 Cdn - with a gift certificate! I play through a small cab with a 10" celestion. Interested in picking up the Jackman because I have always dreamed of owning Marshal!
Nice! I bet that's a killer setup.
Freaking Awesome Video! Thank You So much for do this Video.
Excellent episode. Perfectly done.
Thanks so much!! 😎🎸
GREAT (MARTY) EXCELLENT INFO !HAVE A WONDERFUL 2 HOLIDAYS AND A (EVEN BETTER ) NEW YEAR! YOU HAVE THE TOUCH 🎸🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶.👍✌️😎,BOB.
I dig your plan and I like the video these small lamps with the right pedals in the right Speaker Cabinet are great economic answers to decent tone
Great reviews man. Thanks
Thanks for sharing your setup and how you use these amps for heavy music! 😎🤘
Yeah, I’m actually looking to grab one of these to use my 33 Fortin just not sure which one will be better for it. This one of the zombie 1 ??????
@ I ended up finding the zombie 2 on Amazon for like 150 .. I have a Fortin 33 & a Boss metal and a hellStash
I love these amps. I have the Jackman 2 and the Zombie 2. Meteor 2 next!
They are a blast. And sound great. What a value.
Man I feel like buying one of these when I get a new guitar in January I'm planning on getting the Engl one to play some high gain metal
Great vid and review Marty👍🏼🙂
Just wondering if you can use them with headphones, without a cabinet?
Thanks. From my experience this has worked fine!
23:30 Stryper sound!
I use a hi watt amp 50 amplifier my buddy uses the Jackman2 the combination sound of both amps in one room playing with the band sounds incredible
Great vid. I now know which to choose of the four. Being the 5150 guy that you are, I was surprised not to see the VIVO in the comparison. Perhaps you don't like it?
Really digging the meteor and the zombie. Def ticking a lot of boxes with those 2.
Zombie 2 for me. Thanks man
great demo
Great video! I like the Zombie the best and the Jackman a close second. You should checkout the Tweedy
The Tweedy kills the others!
@ for cleans and crunch, yes
commenting before watching, but i tried a zombie ii once and thought it sounded really great, loud too. i personally had no reason to get it but i would definitely recommend one if you want a rectifier sound for cheap
Have you tried the Brown sound on the lil Boss Katana practice amp? It's AMAZING!! I have the 7w. The 10w is out. Do a review!
Yeh I love it. The katana is one of the best "modeler" amps out there!
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker katana is all analog solid stare tones ab power. Only digital effects
I like the mesa clean the most.
I'd love to. Maybe they will send me one? I need to contact my Joyo person!
Thanks, Marty! Happy Thanksgiving!
@ happy Thanksgiving!
Would love to see it go head to head with the rest
i don't get why they only make 20 watt versions. 60 watt poweramp circuits are tiny and cheap :/ because they sound amazing!
These sound great. Would it be safe to plug one directly into an audio interface and into the DAW on my laptop?
I think the Orange at noon on the gain was most like a JCM800 with a tube screamer in front of it.
Had the black one. Sounded good and bonus that it has the effects loop. That said, the power supply bricked after a month and I have zero trust in their quality control as a result.
Oh man that’s a bummer! I’ve had decent luck with mine. Low investment high return is how I see it.
Did you use the factory 3 pronged power supply? Aftermarket 2 prong (without the ground) will ruin your amp. I have a Hotone amp, which uses the same 18V power supply. The previous owner used a non grounded power supply, and it wouldn't work.
I've had the original Zombie for about 6 years and it has not had a single issue yet. May have just been a fluke.
Cool! Always wanted to try one! Maybe someday? Could a guy gig with one? Thanks Marty 🤘
Oh yeah!!!
I'm hoping they redo the Engl one for a second version
Even on the phone speaker these sound like they punch way above the price point that boogie sound is excellent.
They're so cute. I like the number 4.
I was gonna say... I liked how the red one sounds.. it has more range.
Then good... Then zombie for crunchy chugs
I wonder how it would react to a pedal, great presentation dude
They’re just so cool.
Very tempting at that price.
I have the original Zombie. I agree, the Jackman sounds the most versatile.
The 12AX7 in these only run about 62v - so I think they're using the tube more to filter the solid state distortion rather than the tube itself creating all the gain.
Ok.. watched it.. Great demo... but.. why no AtomiC
Thanks for watching!!! 😎They need to send me one 😂
I don't know why you're keeping the volumes on 8:30 or 9:00 they sound like transistor radios
You should mute your voice mic when you're playing because the pick noise is as loud as the amp so it's hard to hear the real sound of the amp. Other than that, thanks for the comparison ✌️
The FireBrand is the best one.
The MB sounds really... MetalZ!
All have good sound depending on the speakers used. Just try on some speakers like celestion, eminence, mojotone etc., you will get a different tone. And don't forget the speaker cabinet too.
I subbed just because of the intro
That intro is fuckin' great!
any chance for a give-away? lol... good mornin' man... rock on!

hello, it will be meteor for me and my cheap splitable Gretch, with eq pedal, hp to define... so, cheaper than a wife 😁, thank you for testing 🤘
The best Joyo amp is the Sweet Baby 5 watt tube combo amp. They need to increase production of that one and offer it in the USA again.
Those amps are awesome... I wonder if I can put my spark amp in front to get the effects?...Video?
The JOYO Tweedy kicks the others asses! I have a JaCkMan II, and a ZoMBie II. Surprisingly, the Tweedy replicates an old Fender tweed amp... but this thing will out-chug the others, hands down!!!
I use my tweedy with my strat and tele. I love it! Gave up on my vox!
I have the Tweedy and love it. Considering adding the Jackman II xl. Is it different enough from the Tweedy to justify having both?
They are pretty different than each other but they are so cheap to check out. Maybe buy from a place with a good return policy and keep all the packaging to send it back if you don't like it !?
@@lw1391 the JaCkMan II has that Marshall JCM800 sound and feel, but so far, the Tweedy impresses me the most of the three I own. You won't get as much gain, and you lose one control (voice). I still want a MeteOR II at some point.
I will say, you won't be disappointed if you buy one, but it isn't the Tweedy!
Meteor is Doom and I love mine
Cool man. Hook it up to the bantamp cab next. Noone shows that. All yall sticking them amps into 3000 dollar cabs. Get to it
You left out the best part about these great toys... they all have BLUETOOTH!!! I've learned so many parts to songs that ive missed. Just play along with audio! But, hey, I'm an old guy, it's high tech to me...
One huge upgrade would be rechargeable lithium batteries!
Watch the beginning of the video over.
@BryanClark-gk6ie Oh, right, he explained the Bluetooth part... But it's one of the best parts, IMO.
@@davidstokes4630
Yes good feature. You have one? Good for playing 80's country music/ loud enough to play live using a 1/10" cabinet without having to mic up' 50/75 people?
@@BryanClark-gk6ie Easily!
