Yes, the idea was pretty unique. Fun fact: I've seen the movie at least 10 times by now but the first 3 or 4 times I keep forgetting that she also has super powers until the moment they meet at the house. Usually I can remember the whole plot of almost every movie, even small details. However for some reason with this movie only the iconic "drunk super hero" part got stuck. Though after I got surprised about 3 times, I finally have engraved the plot in my brain. The reveal of her power is like the plot twist within the plot twist. It was simply that unexpected which makes it stand out compared to other movies.
Honestly, Will Smith coming back with a Hancock 2 might "save" his career, or at least jump start it in Hollywood after everything he's been through in recent times. With a mix of a good solid plot and similar comedy as the first one...not a bad idea
This is SO much better than most other blockbuster superhero movies. It gives me major Hawkman and Hawkgirl vibes, being that he didn't remember his past, and the eagle motif.
Great movie the story is so much better than most super hero movies. It was real and hit home. Will is a legendary actor. Jason is hilarious his delivery is top tier. But my favorite part is Jane saying he can find superhero friends in New York. Lol. That was adorable. 😂😂😂
I wish they had made a sequel to the movie, but it's likely never going to happen, as most superhero movies in last 10 years have been both box hits and bombs.
I went through hell, bullied all through school to the point I attempted suicide twice, and to many issues in my life since then I am a recovering alcoholic 11 years clean and counting. So proud of you being 7 years clean keep up the good work
Really one of the great underrated movies with an all-star cast. There are a few that nobody has reacted to and The Interpreter with Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman is another on my list. Sahara and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey are two others. This was a real treat.
i see a lot of couple reactors but man…. you can clearly see how much you guys love each other and i just love how you guys bounce off each other. other reactors give their partners faces when they say something dumb or something like that. but you just appreciate each others comments and i appreciate that! my absolute favorite couples reactors! i hope all is well for you guys and your family!:)
This is a really good one. I love the love story honestly. it makes this movie. As for the drinking. I think it's explained when he is like, "nobody claimed me." I think the explanation is basically that he doesn't feel loved. So he's a broken person.
From what I read, the popcorn and the storms happened because they were both overly emotional and creates heat and energy. So the popcorn churns and pops, and the air around them in downtown LA churns and pops off. When they’re calm together, it’s bliss. When their emotional, their relationship is turmoil. 😁
Love how the bad guys plan was to shoot the bulletproof guy BEFORE he knew he was losing his powers. Also love the fact that the prisoners who Hancock put away thought they could intimidate him. Not too bright 🤣
I loved this movie when it came out. Don’t know what it says about me, but I wanted Hancock and Mary together SOOOO bad. I am a sucker for soulmate, I will always find you relationships. I would love a prequel of their love or a sequel of one last heroic mission and then finally getting to choose each other. They’re going to be in love forever and it’s tragic to me if love doesn’t prevail somehow. Chronicle is one of the best superhero movies ever! It’s how I became a Michael B. Jordan and Dane Dehaan fan.
Facts I was always thinking about a sequel and so on but as the years went on unfortunately it never happened. Chronicle was also another great one I hoped for a sequel and same thing it never happened Although there was a leak about chronicle 2 and I'm so glad it never happened.
@SpySkater1 You’re speaking my language. I agree with everything you said. A prequel could follow this film detailing everything that happened before, then a sequel showing how they go about facing off against the forces that kept them apart.
this must me an unrated version. i don't remember that female cop saying the F word. she said "get me the hell out of here", in the version i watched. also when Mary goes to meet Hancock at is place, she fly's in , not drive. didn't realise there were 2 different versions
This movie is so fun. Also it has the most realistic depiction of flying in any movie I've ever seen. He's not in a superman pose, he's just floating forward, while drinking in this case but that's unrelated. I just realized I said a realistic depiction of flying like people can actually fly lol. You know what I mean
Super underrated movie. So glad you guys had the opportunity to watch it! If you guys can, I'd recommend watching/reacting to Chronicle. Another very interesting take on special abilities. It's just a bit darker of a movie.
OMG GUYS. It Took you so freaking long. Hahahaha. Hancock is the original superhero hahaha. Glad I have what to watch whilst eating dinner tonight. #UptheVickers 🎉
A fun little detail: Mary causing a storm? She has _milennia_ of experience, so she probably knows every little trick of her powers. Hancock can do some cool shit with his 80 years, but he's nowhere near Mary in skill.
24:16 - it's moments like these, that made this movie interesting on re-watch. She wanted to go away so fast not because she didn't like Hancock, but because she didn't want them to be close with each other for so long. Because we knew where that would lead.
Hancock is neither a DC nor a Marvel character. He's actually a character from a standalone superhero film called "Hancock," released in 2008, and he doesn't belong to any of the major comic book universes. The character is portrayed by actor Will Smith in the movie.
I'm starting to think that the subplot in Superman 3 where Superman became selfish after being exposed to an alternate kyptonite is what inspired this movie.
I'm not a huge fan of Will Smith, but I like this movie. But my favorite with him is Seven Pounds. I highly recommend it. You're gonna cry like babies, especially Justin.
Still one of my fav hero movies. It got alot of crap because at the time, people they didn't like him being a dark asshole of a hero. Obviously if those same people watch movies today, they would see dark/anti-heros are big now. Then you had those who didn't like it because they brought their little kids to it and/or they didn't like the story becoming about his past. Which is silly, he's fascinating. We want to know about his past. If I recall they still may do another one, but since the Will slap incident, its gone quiet now on if they will do another.
Charlize Theron was in the Netflix movie, Old Guard, which is sort of a superhero movie that I found to be actually pretty good. I do not think it was super-great & it had more potential to be better, but I would definitely watch a sequel to it if it were made. I found it pretty entertaining that kept my attention throughout. James Gunn made a movie called "Brightburn", which is a horror movie that does explore the concept of what if Superman were bad. There are surprisingly plenty of movies based on graphic novels that I never knew were graphic novels (e.g. Wanted, 300). But, they do not really feature superhero powers. The best non-DC and non-Marvel movies, IMO, featuring superhero powers are.... Chronicle, The Mask, Hellboy, Spawn, Kick-Ass, The Rocketeer, The Crow, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (both 90's and 2000's era), Sky High, Dredd (with Karl Urban), Watchmen, Darkman, Mystery Men, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, The Shadow, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Funny same kid from Halloween his name was Michael but his step dad said he was going to change his name to Michelle lol. In this his name is Michelle lol
when it first came out and saw the movie, Hm I'm not really sure about this but the heart on the moon he might have done it with his blood it kind of took me a wile to figure that one but again I could be wrong if any one knows better you know what to do.
I love the mythology, that it was an original IP and the tragic love story at the heart of the story. Plus, Jason Bateman is a deadpan genuis at line delivery. Great pick tonight. The original title of this movie when it was a spec screenplay making its rounds round Hollywood was 'Tonight, He Comes.' But they thought it sounded too pornographic. So they changed it to HanCOCK. ;)
its crazy how yall were mad about hancock kissing the woman when he has been in love with her for centuries so technically she was his woman he only lost her because of the incident that wiped his memory.
When this movie came out, I was hoping for a sequel followed by a trilogy. Just seeing Will Smith as a superhero had great potential in my eyes..
Funnily enough around the time every movie coming out for sequels and what not but Hancock didn’t. Was so surprised and disappointed
originally there was going to be a sequel where another immortal would be revealed however scheduling conflicts have sidelined it for the time being.
Yeah imagine Kevin hart as a villain and Will Smith slaping the sh it out of him... Wait, I can imagine it a little too well
This movie deserves a sequel for sure
@@olgud.manegawhy Kevin Hart did he say something about his predatory wife too ?
This is one of few superhero movies that isn’t based off a comic book and ends up being nostalgic af!

What makes Hancock so dangerous is that not only does he have superpowers, he also has nothing to lose.
Look here, iont want no problems with a superhero that sleeps at a bus stop hungover 😭
bwahhahhahahahahhahahahaha me either, like go on and do what you do! 🤣@@cjjackson2423
Yeah. If I had those powers the whole world would be walking on eggshells 😂
Actually one of the most underrated films 💯
They definitely should've made more movies
Yea definitely like who are those bad guys are there more

Director Peter Berg knows the difference between cartoon violence and the real stuff, and Hancock mixes both to good effect.
But he's less practical
This is SO much better than most other blockbuster superhero movies. It gives me major Hawkman and Hawkgirl vibes, being that he didn't remember his past, and the eagle motif.
yea it did have that feeling didn't it.
I never noticed it before, but how they cleverly hard cut to Charlize’s face right after Will said “I’m the only one of my kind”… good stuff.
He was still alone physically, but he no longer felt that way, which matters just as much. Really happy that you guys reacted to it.
Great movie the story is so much better than most super hero movies. It was real and hit home. Will is a legendary actor. Jason is hilarious his delivery is top tier. But my favorite part is Jane saying he can find superhero friends in New York. Lol. That was adorable. 😂😂😂
They didn’t even check on the conductor 🤣🤣🤣 bro probably broke all kind of bones 😂
I wish this movie would’ve gotten a part 2. I liked it so much.
I wish they had made a sequel to the movie, but it's likely never going to happen, as most superhero movies in last 10 years have been both box hits and bombs.

Believe it or not, there's actually a Spider-Man Comic Story Arc about his Radioactive 'Super Serum' 🤣
That was a what if story set in the future, and it was depressing as anything. Spiderman: Reign.

Hancock is a very underrated movie. Almost nothing about it is the typical superhero movie layout. Which is one thing that makes it great.
From what I read, the popcorn and the storms happened because they were both overly emotional and creates heat and energy. So the popcorn churns and pops, and the air around them in downtown LA churns and pops off. When they’re calm together, it’s bliss. When their emotional, their relationship is turmoil. 😁
Bruh I never even peeped, I thought it was just when SHE felt emotional, or mad or something since she said she's way stronger 😅
Someone said they said in the directors cut they were supposed to be gods and hancock created the tornadoes and mary created the lightning
Another good and funny super-hero movie from that era was My Super Ex-Girlfriend with Uma Thurman, Anna Faris, Luke Wilson, and Rainn Wilson.
Love how the bad guys plan was to shoot the bulletproof guy BEFORE he knew he was losing his powers. Also love the fact that the prisoners who Hancock put away thought they could intimidate him. Not too bright 🤣

I think that once ready they are both ready to die many years later and Ray them are dead, they will get together and grow old together till they die.
@SpySkater1 You’re speaking my language. I agree with everything you said. A prequel could follow this film detailing everything that happened before, then a sequel showing how they go about facing off against the forces that kept them apart.
According to a now deleted video, Hancock was the one creating the storms and Mary was the one creating the lightning
Why though, cuz he was mad? Im genuinely askin
I am happy that you guys react to this movie😊
Was that Leonard from Big Bang Theory before he was famous 😂
Oh nice this is the extended version with extra scenes! Nice. Except for the third act, i find this movie incredible fun!!

You guys should watch Seven Pounds with Will Smith. It came out this same year. Also very underrated.
“You should sue McDonald’s cuz they fucked you up” 😂😂😂 I’m so gonna use that comeback
Jane has a good eye for movies because she guessed the connection between Hancock and the wife early on
I loved Hancock and I wished so bad that it would get the Zac Snyder Cut JL treatment it deserves.

Yes to the Chronicles of Narnia!
The thing with hancock is not a trained superhero, so he is basically wreckless.
Saw the movie on dvd for rental in 2009.
