I haven't heard it for a while, but I remember that there was a song with just bass guitar that sounded like someone had forgotten to lay down the rhythm guitar tracks, and an instrumental with lyrics that needed a Vocal track. Other than Frost and Fire, I'm Alive and A Little Fire the album sounds like incomplete studio outakes that now appear as bonus tracks on most remastered CDs . One Foot in Hell, King of the Dead, Paradise Lost and even Servants of Chaos ( for what it is) are really good classic Metal Albums. I think that Cirith Ungol would have been better off to have released Frost and Fire as a single, the rough incomplete demo quality tracks didn't showcase the true quality of the band's musical skills

I play guitar in a metal band and play bass in a jazz band. I feel like a lot of the “if you don’t listen to only metal you’re a poser” crowd aren’t musicians themselves. Most musicians I’ve met and played with over the years have pretty eclectic musical tastes.

Yes, Quorthon should had started a new band for his folk/viking rock stuff. There is evolution, yes, then there is COMPLETELY changing style/sound. You COMPETELY change, but didn't start a new band/side project for that sound, you are betraying what you were originally doing. Even DEAD from Mayhem used to fk with Quorthon (Thomas) from Bathory. He'd leave dead rats and shit on his doorstep harassing him because he knew he was a fucking POSER and he called Quorthon that often since he lived near by him prior to moving to Norway which was a dumb move on Dead's part since Euronymous prob killed him (I don't believe it was a suicide, much proof it wasn't, little proof it was a sucidie). Dying Fetus is my 3rd favorite metal band. I actually like how they have progressed over the years, although I do wish they were as brutal as their earlier stuff. Still very good music. I like their technical playing. I think it keeps them from becoming boring and predictable.

Honestly, getting a little tired of the ragging myself. I am an outsider to most of the commenters because I generally DO listen to almost all types of metal, and plently of non-metal too. I just don't tend to comment or respond when people rag on music I like. I just ignore it (or try to).
@@LaylaLover90 You're definitely not alone on that. Was telling someone here the other day that I don't just listen to black, death, thrash. I also enjoy prog, gothic, power, etc. As for non-metal music sometimes I listen to electronic and hip hop, but it's not super often. Metal has enough diversity within its own borders to where I normally don't have to venture outside.

Why are random 50+ year old guys approaching a total a stranger who, w/o the shirt wouldnt look in the slightest bit like they listen to metal, and then talking to them with arrogance? Makes no sense. Also, it's your full time 24 hr day business to keep aware of any and all bands that are in or entering the scene. It's also your job/business to filter out the tiny % of good ones out of the 1000's of worthless garbage that's released every year. Yes, there are tons of pretend posers out there, but this ooh ooh look at me! I'm more underground and cooler than you, because I know about bands x y and z is equally repelling.
Funny King Diamond story. On one of the shows I went to for the Abigail tour, He made everyone wait, and didn't come on until 2am, because one of the props wasn't working properly. Nearly everyone stayed.

I would say I don't even have a top 5 Heavy metal. Only really like King Diamond and Pounder. Never got into Iron Maiden.
Honestly I don't even like the later sabbath releases after the first album. From what I heard their just to happy party anthems.
@@grim9872 All together IMHO Black Sabbath only has about 3-6 good songs from all albums. Just my opinion.

???? sup jdawg ???? jus got back from the cannibal show. it was badass except i wish they played more stuff from vile and bloodthirst tho i picked up a custom bay area cannibal shirt wondering if u seen it ?? the front has the logo and a bunch of zombies roaming around in the bart station which is our subway and on the back it show alcatraz island with some zombies floating in the bay and it says brutality in the bay. really sick of cannibal to make such a awesome shirt and show respect to the bay area. wish i could send u a pic of it

Dying Fetus is my 3rd favorite metal band. I actually like how they have progressed over the years, although I do wish they were as brutal as their earlier stuff. Still very good music. I like their technical playing. I think it keeps them from becoming boring and predictable.
@@LaylaLover90 hell yea i met them minus John Gallagher during the killing on adrenaline tour cool ass dudes they all went on to form Misery Index in 2001 which is another sick ass band. ive seen them probably 10times over the yrs & not sure y they get this homeboy vibe reputation
@@richpittman666 Yeah, Misery Index is also in my top band list! Awesome music. Cool to see a band that split off members into another band (Dying Fetus / Misery Index) and both fall in my top 10!
