The latest album is such an amazing record! I chose it as my favorite music album (of everything) for 2023 and I am never disappointed. I do feel that the reviews (while most have been quite positive) miss how good it is. Not only should it be seen as a highwater mark (up to now) for the band, but I think it did some stuff I really never hear in Death Metal, and I appreciate that. Also, I liked when the guys talked about being humble on this interview and again, I appreciate that sentiment! Whenever we, as humans, let our ego dominate our every action, that is recipe to fall on our faces in shame eventually. You guys fucking rock! 2023 was a great year for heavy metal and yet, I find myself listening to Make Them Beg For Death all the time, months on end. 18:53 i was obsessed with this exact riff for years
listened to this podast while doing homework, such a good podcast! Dying Fetus RULES MAN!!
I discovered these dudes my sophomore year of high school. It was a meme of bear in the big blue house playing “kill your mother/ rape your dog”. Thought it was funny af and then I bought destroy the opposition. Blew my mind. Love these guys and been supporting them ever since. Brutal groovy and crisp. Especially for 3 piece god damn.
I helped build the fire sprinkler system at sweetwater back in 2007. That was my only contribution to society.
Dudes stryper rules. Don't fully agree with the early Christian stuff but some great tunes that really do stand the test of time. Some later albums are really good. Highly recommend listening to them.
"To hell with the devil" is a genuine Banger!
I think I'm the same age as John, I related to everything he said in this interview. All those albums and influences are unique and he is as well. No cookie cutter bullspit.
41:43 Make sense cause to this day Reign Supreme is my favorite deathmetal album. Been listening to it since it came out in 2012 at least once a month.
Love that they mention Nuclear Assault. One of the best thrash/ crossover bands to ever do it. Also I wish this would of been longer 🤘🏼
Dan Lilker is the common element between two of John’s biggest influences S.O.D & Nuclear Assault.
@@cameronthomas578 imo the most metal dude on the planet as well
This guys keep raising the level, their latest album is brutal 🔥🔥🔥
Speaking of early blastbeats: "Antichrist" from Bestial Devastation by Sepultura has some blastbeat-ish drumming and that's 1985
stop at nothing is 1 of my favorite metal albums. Love these guys! They are so underrated. The guitar and drums are brilliant, and vocals hit so hard!! Also, they are from Maryland, and so am I!!!
Such a good episode of South Park to.
Been to a festival when a friends band got that same reaction.
trey is a super genius. every time he speaks, it’s insightful and interesting
I never knew Chris Garza had a podcast. Imma have to start watching it more
Its pretty good , he's getting better at being a host
Wow. I really enjoyed this video. It popped into my feed. Im 45 and recently getting back into metal. I fucking love Dying Fetus. The riffs are insane and now i like them as humans too. Ill be now checking out Suicide Silence. Thanks for introducing me to your band and giving me a feeling of being connected to a genre that i grew up on. Much love from Saskatoon Canada
I love the old john, jason and kevin 3 piece because i was just a teen and saw them about 4 times back in those days.
Sadly i have not seen them in their new current lineup. Would love to have them come to my city.
jason and kevin is my favorite era
New drinking game. Do a shot everytime John says "You know"
Their new album is so damn good. They are only getting better after all these years
The latest album is such an amazing record! Frozen Soul and Suffocation and Cattle Decapitation and Cannibal Corpse had tremendous records last year and yet, Dying Fetus is right up there with Bloodbath and Carcass and Nile, vying for my favorite Death Metal act. Please continue in this vein gentlemen because it is so damn interesting, and I love variety in my music. \m/ \m/
Dying Fetus still the GOAT
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 seen them every time they played showcase or The galaxy theater!! So stoked to see them on a podcast
This is awesome man I’ve been wanting an interview like this from df forever
