Teddy Pendergrass inspired my husband to walk again. 🙏💛💛💛💛🙏
How wonderful!
Such a blessing.
That's beautiful
Blessed
Beautiful!!!!!
I watched it when I was six years old. I didn’t understand why my mom was bawling when it didn’t seem sad. But I absolutely get it now.
When Nick Ashford announced his name, the roar from the crowd was ear-shattering.
I was there. God bless us all.
I WAS THERE FOR HOURS, I SAW THIS PERFORMANCE AND I WAS MOVED TO TEARS. MY FAMILY WAS WELL ACQUAINTED WITH THE PENDERGRASS FAMILY! TEDDY'S PERFORMANCE WAS INCREDIBLE AND ENCOURAGING.
I was there too
I wasn’t there but I saw it on tv and when Teddy came out my god my eyes started welling so happy to see him and sing his accident may of taken away his ability to do most things but it didn’t take away his voice that incredible voice
Of course you are well acquainted with them!
I was there- and I was crying then, too.
Oh my God you were there! I never have "talked" to anyone that was there. I bet this was so beautiful to see/hear Teddy that day! And all the other bands, oh man. What an amazing thing to be there huh?!
I was there as well..all in tears, all reaching out to touch somebody’s hand. Great to see Teddy get such a warm welcome back. Cry every time I watch this. That day was such a beautiful day.
Barbie Roberts - you are so lucky to have been there - I can only imagine how amazing it was
@@partylow1 Yes, I cry too every single time,,,so touching
I WAS THERE WITH A FEW CLOSE FRIENDS, WE HEARD ABOUT THE SHOW AT SHORT NOTICE. IT WAS A HASSLE TO GET 😒 TICKETS, WE ALMOST DIDN'T ATTEND! THE EVENT WAS HISTORY IN THE MAKING 🤗🤗🤗 THIS PERFORMANCE WAS SO EMOTIONAL 😢 ENCOURAGING AND EXTRAORDINARY. I DIDN'T REALIZE AT THAT TIME, JUST HOW PROFOUND THE EVENT WOULD BE. BLESSED
Just discovered his music after learning about his story. This is a beautiful moment.
Enjoy the journey. Teddy was the man.
He had the greatest voice in music, to me anyway. His power was undeniable. R.I.P. Sir.
The very definition of bravery and the power of mind set. Today's artists can only dream of having an ounce of this talent. Rest easy, Teddy - never forgotten 💜
I wished that Teddy Pendergrass and Barry White done a song together. Babies would have been made to that song even to this day
they are up in heaven
Babies were made to both of their great voices ;-) Mark my words I speak from experience LOL
@@Micky2009ish I believe you. I'm more of a Teddy 🧸than a Barry. He talked too much. Strangely enough, I never did like Luther. I lean more towards Marvin's and Teddy's more soulful voices. They sung about Love and loves that they lost. Luther well.....
@Kase Madden I know this is spam but if this is real , why would anyone be so insecure to hack anyone's account ? That's just lame. I'm happy I grew up in the 80's. No wireless internet. No cellphones with cameras or internet browsers . Just good old foot work !
RIP Nick Ashford and Teddy Pendergrass. I cannot wait to see _If You Don't Know Me_ when it airs early next year on Showtime. Long overdue.
David Richardson they did a great job with the movie
I’m watching it right now. Just took a break to get a coffee before continuing. I wanted to see if this performance was on UA-cam. I’m thrilled it is. I have the Live Aid DVD set, but everybody should be able to see this.
Teddy was the shiznit.
The Teddy Pendergrass documentary came out today on showtime and he was the man so very much I didn’t know! It was wonderful!
Absolutely AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Started off great in the beginning 😊but I cried like a baby at the end😭
I saw it last night it was on again
Watching it right now on Showtime.
Onde encontro?
R.I.P. Teddy 🙏 Thank you for the talent you brought to this world 🌍
Beautiful Words. That's true.
I always cry when I watch this video. It reminds me of God's goodness.
Naomi Motlhasedi / Nothing Wrong With That. I Agree Sweetie.. WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO KEEP US ENCOURAGED IN GODS GOODNESS. Stay sweet.~#Yearofwisdom #Blackdiamond
This was America
Indeed
Yes, were are Americas greatest sons and daughters now ?
This never ever fails to bring tears to my eyes. Especially when I saw his tears. He was such a talented legend (& a very handsome one as well). So many people thought he was done after his accident. Thank God he proved them wrong for many years after this.

The documentary got me here.He really sang this song.
The accident may have taken Teddys ability to walk but it didn't take his voice away and he never stopped singing and performing a true legend and a class act we miss you Teddy and we'll always remember you lots of love to you and your family
Showtime just brought me here. I so LOVE TP :)
That audience went wild when he came on.
My aunt asked me about this part. She happened to see him come out, and the crowd was going wild
He was tearing up.
I told her about his accident, and how he was resuming his career from his wheelchair, after two years.
Actually it was 3 1/2 years. The car accident was Mar. 1982. Live Aid was Summer 1985.
@@piustwelfth thanks. I know it was a while.
If he was afraid that his public forgot him, he was relieved that night.
I just saw this on " If you don't know me" documentary about Teddy Pendergrass and it made me cry like a baby! 😢 That was amazing considering what he had been through.
This voice tho, chocolate made of silk
Teddy's a hero of the bravest kind. Why doesn't anyone sing or write songs like this anymore?
This man is a lovely soul, I wish i got to see him..
I've seen this before years ago... but it hits in the feels now. As time goes on you see what it takes for people to push through the challenges. This is beautiful.

Philadelphia International right here, relevant words as always.
Yes his voice was brilliant and his performances great but his fight after what happened in that terrible accident was inspirational.
R.I.P Teddy Pendergrass.
Remember I'm from SC also
I miss TEDDY and Ashford
Beautiful and powerful
If any generation of ppl doesn't look or understand the significance of how every race, ethics ended up loving his purpose in music purpose & HISTORY.
Theodore💗 tall, talented a fine specimen
ICONIC...👉BLESSINGS TEDDY/NICK ❤
4:50 Teddy P kicked in. I miss you! RIH Teddy P. 💜💜💜💜💜
I’d just turned 16 when I saw the Live Aid concerts, and while I was aware of Teddy - I’m from the Philadelphia burbs plus I have relatives who had TP albums in their collections (which I am currently in possession of 😊) - I was more excited about the Zeppelin reunion and other acts, and of course U2 and Queen got lots of press and fan praise for “bringing it” … But to me, THIS performance, Teddy with Ashford & Simpson, is an equally-defining and important moment of the entirety of both concerts.
As A&S stated in their intro, Teddy hadn’t been on a stage since his car “accident” (IDK if Teddy’s car had been tampered with, but that whole thing is strange), can you imagine being TP and having your “comeback” moment in front of, essentially, the entire world?!?
What happened to Teddy shouldn’t happen to a dog, or any living being. And while I’m sure Teddy endured much between Live Aid and the end of his life, Teddy’s performance at Live Aid proved he wasn’t beaten. RIP Teddy.
The greatest of them all
seeing that crowd gave me goosebumps! Like in today's generation you dont see that type crowd anymore , even if you are world's biggest pop star! that is crazy !!RIP TO TEDDY!
TP was so great ❤
Mom and dad. Thanks. I love this man music!!!
Dam... why god there said do not questions the lord but u take the best too early ... lovely vice teddy and Whitney the greatest ... ❤
brutha had a voice like no one else...next level stuff, his voice. He made my jaw drop a number of times, just listening to him, interpret a lyric. When he ended up in a wheelchair, and word got out that he was paralyzed in a way that would take the "heat" out of his voice, I cried...because the essence of Teddy's voice was 'pure power and primal sexiness"..and it was gone. He still gave it the college-try, like he did here, but his last great record, came BEFORE the car wreck..after that he was a shadow of himself. A LEGENDARY performer and a once in a lifetime, voice.
