I haven’t seen this performance since I was about 40 feet from the stage, just over 35 years ago. My friends and I were just 16 and 17 years old. We were all exhausted after an incredibly hot day full of highlights. I didn’t leave our spot once. Something that’s unthinkable now. Best concert of my life.
That is far more cool than you think, know, and realize. I wish documentation on film could be done of people who were there giving their recounts of it. What an alternative reality we live in now. I am the most positive person in the world and I have such great fears for what's on the horizon. God save us.

Actually it wasn’t a happy place ….. that’s why they performed this song …. In actual fact starvation was everywhere on the planet in the third world which was vast…. Africa …. Central and South America … the warlords in places like Uganda were murdering people like grass being cut on the lawn! Terrible terrible things were going on and that’s why they performed … to do something about it all! It worked!
Actually th world was not a better place as it is now, you just didn’t hear about lynching, raping and murdering as you didn’t have the internet or social media.
Legendary performance. I maybe old now looking back but I'm glad I was there in the summer of 1985 as a high school kid watching these iconic stars in their prime and some sadly no longer with us. Nothing will beat the atmosphere and build-up of this concert and the Live Aid concert in London earlier that July day on the most serious of situations in Africa and tackling it head-on with no nonsense that i can imagine today's stars would gripe about who goes on first and last etc.
Just see how resonant Ms. Dionne's voice was. Even if the mic was turned off, people still recognized that iconic voice and what I always love about her is when she always stays in the line as the song requires yet still killing it.
We Are The World is my favorite song in 1985, along with Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas. Both songs touched my heart of the hungry and dying in Africa. I watched Live Aid on TV and I loved it so much. It's ashamed that Michael Jackson couldn't be there, but he and Lionel Ritchie's music and lyrics were more than enough and they both won for best music and lyrics on the American Music Awards.

This is a spontaneous concert by the great musicians for giving aid to Africa. I watched this all day long till night time. It was fun no racism no wokeness. We are all in one. Enjoying the greatness of humanity
I don't remember this. I was five. But I've become so fascinated with this concert. All of the most popular singers of the time donated their time to help the world end hunger. There were a few egos, but it was a lovely experience.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. It's not about following the law - perfectly, as it's impossible - it's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Really is a beautiful song! Coming together as one! Uniting, fighting hunger, disease, medical treatment, shelter, clean running water, etc. It's also sad how some could have soo much and some could have so little or none at all.
We watched the live telecast of this historic jamboree of best singers on TV then. In March 2022, this still remains the finest, noblest and grandest programme ever. The massive gathering of fans will always feel themselves the luckiest spectators. 👌👌👍👍🙏🙏

Somehow I doubt it was that. He was probably tired, having earlier been part of his own performance, supported by Keith Richards and Ron Wood for his song, 'Blowing in the Wind'. We were all truly blessed in 1985, to witness simultaneously ' the first, the biggest and the loudest Jukebox booming on both sides of the Atlantic'. A once in a lifetime experience, where the whole world participated in raising funds for famine in Africa.
I parked my car across from the Navel Hospital at 6 AM that day, made my way over to JFK. By the time they were all on stage in this video? I was totally wasted as well, beat up from the Sun and Beers. On top of that? My car was impounded when I got to where I parked it. Wound up hopping the El to the Terminal. But I did get to see some of the greatest bands and singers in the World.
Considering this was the ending of 4 hours of concert, they all are tired and just wanna have fun.. this was a great closing for that moment and circumstances!
Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, Cher and Keith Richards are among the huge stars on that stage and they allowed Melissa Manchester and Sheena Easton to hog the mic (twice each)?

Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans
. The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom.
If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. It's not about following the law - perfectly, as it's impossible - it's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction).
He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place.
He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it.
He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way.
NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER

Kenny Loggins: I was in on the closing song, but shit, I don’t even remember what it was. Maybe a Beatles tune? All I remember was - what’s her name? This Black woman with the voice of God. It was her turn to sing, and she was screaming on the microphone. It was so loud. So overwhelmingly loud. There were at least 12 mics onstage, and the sound guy had to be trying to figure out what mic she was on to turn it down. It was hilarious.

We were all truly blessed in 1985, to witness simultaneously ' the first, the biggest and the loudest Jukebox booming on both sides of the Atlantic'. A once in a lifetime experience, where the whole world participated in raising funds for famine in Africa.

I parked my car across from the Navel Hospital at 6 AM that day, made my way over to JFK. By the time they were all on stage in this video? I was totally wasted as well, beat up from the Sun and Beers. On top of that? My car was impounded when I got to where I parked it. Wound up hopping the El to the Terminal. But I did get to see some of the greatest bands and singers in the World.
Considering this was the ending of 4 hours of concert, they all are tired and just wanna have fun.. this was a great closing for that moment and circumstances!
