Nickolas Ashford (May 4, 1941 - August 22, 2011) and Valerie Simpson (born August 26, 1946)
As performers, Ashford & Simpson's best-known duets are "Found A Cure" (1979) and "Solid (As a Rock)" (1984 US and 1985 UK). The duo was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. Ashford and Simpson were also recipients of The Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Pioneer Award in 1999, and ASCAP's highest honor, the Founder's Award in 1996. The duo essentially had two careers: one as a successful writing and producing team and the other as singers and performers themselves.

6.02.2022. I saw this beautiful couple (duo) in concert many years ago - well they were just untouchable. Great, great, great. Their music is really in a class by itself. I love them.
Man back in the day I was a road traveler. From the East coast to the West. Listening to music like this seemed to cut my trip time in half.
I had a 1970 Pontiac Catalina that was the bomb!! 400 engine, posi trac, 2 barrel and as clean as new money!! Custom seats from a Lincoln and that monster would run!! Back then it was music from the 8 track. ( Kids can't relate to this). Ashford and Simpson, Spinners, Teddy P, Chi-lites, all the greats. And don't forget the jazz..Donald Byrd Street Lady. I had some great times and met a lot of beautiful people. There is nothing like traveling in America. Yes there are places out of the country to go to but after you've seen the beauty and marvels from seeing this nation nothing else compares. You haven't lived until you travel a bit, stay in motels, eat cafe food and laugh with newly made friends. Sharing a toke! Good times man. Yes indeed. These are the mental pictures that we take with us when we cross over into the Afterlife so have yourself a ball while you live. Life may get hard at times but it's the good times that make it worth living. Anybody know what I'm saying? Damn I miss that car!!!
