Hi, great video. A couple questions. If audio goes through hot shoe then why did you have a cable going from audio out to camera’s mic input? I was thinking this was only used if camera didn’t have compatible hotshoe. Second question, when using Tascam can you still have another mic going into camera’s regular input for essentially another channel. Ie: three channels of audio (two from Tascam via hotshoe and one from camera 1/8” input). Thanks.
Hi, I just got the Tascam but I cannot connect the battery unit to feed the audio adapter, Did you have any issue? The problem is that the battery adapter has a thick part that doesn’t fit properly, do not what to do, I hope you can help me, cheers!
But all audio options are grayed out, so it’s not connected? How do you even know? I just got one and don’t know what’s happening here. Update: uhh, okay, so actually it has been working this whole time, but there’s just no visibility in the menu on that, and there are no options to set? I had to set monitoring to ch1-2 and then I can see levels on the meters. I recorded a mono mic, but in FinalCut the audio is in both channels…did it record the camera mic or the Tascam’s mic? It’s all very unclear. There is no switch to move back and forth from the in-camera mic to the Tascam?
@@nickturpin4288 I got mine figured out. It’s quite good, audio quality included, but was just unclear at first. In FCP it’s a single mono channel? If it’s a single stereo channel then use the “direction mixer” plug-in.
@@Sol-In-Seoul I have a single stereo channel, both mics seem to be recording to both channels. If I set FCPX to Mono it separates them but they are still both the same. I’ll explore the plugin. 🙏🏻
@@nickturpin4288 Mine records four mono! In FCP I have to set it to “two stereo” and then mute the second stereo track (which is the crappy Canon in-body mic). It almost sounds like your mic isn’t recording and you’re just getting the Canon mono mic audio? Or you have the Tascam set to the mode that records mic 1 to both channels? But unless there’s been a firmware update I think you should see four mono in FCP.
All of my audio menu settings are greyed out, and I get a message from my R5C that says "Currently, the accessory cannot be used." Any suggestions? I've done everything I can think of to troubleshoot, Tascam's phone support had no help for me :/
@@NativesMC yes, I contacted Tascam and they recommended I exchange it for a replacement. The new one I got works great. Glad I wasn’t doing anything wrong that I was just overlooking, I just ended up with a lemon!
@@omarknowsphotos mine is still working great, I've probably used it for around 5-10 hours shooting time so far on several different shoots. Fingers crossed it won't fizzle out!
How does it match up against the tascam dr 70d? I move around i need stability. I cant imagine, especially how it looks, it being stable in the hot shoe.

Mine was shipped. Using it for the R7. Are you still using it and how do you like it a few months later?
you said 'I try to answer any question'
never!w
Appreciate the video! Do you think it has enough gain for that SM7B?

I knew I should have bought one on pre order. They are back ordered into DECEMBER 20222. Crazy.
Thank you for this video! Very helpful. Moving from C200 to R5C. Lots to consider. :)
How many audio channels can you record to the video at one time?
How do you deal with latency issues with the AVX + wired microphone?
Stan, can I use this with Canon M50?
Awesome video, where did you get the short XLR cable?
You can get a 18" cable i believe off of B&H Photo and Video. It should be under the accessories tab on this tascam xlr adapter page
@@fourwheelerjock thanks
So did you keep it?

Mine was dissapointing too, records two channels but only one channel appears in FCPX timeline so can't adjust levels independently in editing.
