    I loved how you started with YOUR goals and then went into how you solved that. Few of us have the exact same goals so it makes more sense to understand the WHY. Great job!
    I have a similar R5C setup, same cage, same mic, same Meike VND adapter, quick detachable rails on the bottom, quick detachable top handle and monitor.
    But for my goals, I’m using USB PD power, which can easily be mounted on my rails or on my hip/belt or in a pocket.

    Nice setup! We rigged out a R5C with a Anton/Bauer 68Wh Titon Base Battery. It last about 4 hours and works good most of the time. You just need to watch the battery life. If it gets below 5% it will corrupt footage, so you need to make sure you change it out around 10% battery life.

    This looks like a great set up, thanks for the excellent review. Are you at all worried about shorting out the HDMI port by using one power source for camera and monitor? I'm not sure if having a battery in the camera stops this from being a problem, but I see lots of people have at some time had this happen when using one power source for camera and monitor. There are conflicting recommended processes for avoiding it too. ARRI say turn the power source on, then connect HDMI/SDI. Then disconnect the cables before turning off power. From what I can see, Alvin's cables says the opposite!

      Well for me I am using R5 with Rs2 Pro Combo. It definitely doesn't power my R5, but the 3 usb c ports on the Rs2 each have different outputs. Bottom one seems to have the highest output draw as it can power my mars400s Pro Transmitter via usb c. Middle goes to control the focus wheel and top one is weakest, it's used to connect direct to cameras for shutter control or camera control really.

    So does the V-Mount battery solution you have here power the camera and the lens control even up to 8K 60p? Because I thought that the only way to power the camera and lens in 8K 60p was with a PD power bank.
    Love these videos because you always walk through your reasons for the accessories that you have and show how each accessory works for the type of shooting environments you are in!😃 Keep up the great work!

      Yes it does. The vmount battery is basically a power bank.

      You need an usb power source that has the 9V 3A PD Power profile to enable 8k60 with lens control. Not all PD power banks/USB-C V-Mount batteries have that, so keep an eye on it when shopping.

    I know I am always going on about this but why does SmallRig and other cage manufacturers not listen about the filter. Here you are giving them a big plug and they still do not design the cage so the filters will go in and out without removing the lens.So frustrating as I love SmallRig but none of their cages worked with my R6 with filter so I sent them all back. The really stupid thing is it would not take much to change it.

    • @damiencooper
      @damiencooper  2 роки тому

      I think it would severly compromise the integrity of the cage though. You can't move it back because it's in the way of the cable. You can't leave it out for stability and moving it forward would also make it less stable and would probably get in the way of zooming

    • @DaveKnowlesFilmmaker
      @DaveKnowlesFilmmaker 2 роки тому

      @@damiencooper Not sure what it is like on the R5C cage but certainly on both the cages for the R5 & R6 it only needed a millimetre or two off for the filter to come out. I did eventually find a cage that would do OK after also trying a number of others. The cage I have works fine but I had to import it directly from China.

    18:20 - I had that same micro HDMI Cable from atomos for my R6... And it broke within a day. Micro HDMI sucks. No other way around it unfortunately with the R5, R5C, and R6.

      would u get the r5 or r5c?

    • @RoccoGermani
      @RoccoGermani 2 роки тому

      @@randomrazr I'd prefer the R5C for its added cinema features but honestly I wouldn't buy it because I don't really want to deal with the file sizes from that 8K footage. I'd personally put my money towards either the C70 or R3, leaning more so towards the R3 because of its 6K Raw capabilities which I think would be a nice in between from 4K and 8K, and it's also a great stills camera and I still do a lot of hybrid work so that's probably where I'd max out for that.

    • @randomrazr

      @@RoccoGermani i had the r5c for a few days but it had a dead pixel so exchanging it. im second guessing because i dont like how it takes 8 seconds between switching from video to photo mode or vise versa. so if im taking both at a wedding and want to switch, 8 seconds is a long time that i could miss a good capture / moment. the only other couple things i found was the battery life on the internal battery is extremely short (coing from a EOS R) and the cinema menu was quite overwhelming for a novice videographer as i never expeirenced the cinema canon line up before until now. Im thinking of exchanging it for a R5, jsut worried that the 4k recording might overheat it .think its worth the trade off going tot he R5 o r should i jsut learn to use the r5c lol

    • @RoccoGermani
      @RoccoGermani 2 роки тому

      @@randomrazr I'd keep the R5C because overall it is the better camera. I would take some time to familiarize yourself with the new menu system and testing it, because overall it is much better than the standard Canon menu system found on the R5. If you're shooting 8K raw video you can always pull 12 bit raw stills from the video, so that might be useful for you.
