@@littlevictoriessportscards197 I bet the extra 2 days accounted for the slight diff in price. Like if a few more people bid it up from .99 to 1.99 it makes a diff. How does 5-day benefit anyone? If anything, it would seem to create more work for them. Maybe it's because for combined shipping they want stuff ending faster so people might buy more cheapie cards within the time-frame to tack it on to another larger purchase? As it is I think DCS gives 7 days for people to pay so. IDK. I don't have all the answers but 5 days is kinda short especially after you wait a month to see your cards go up. LOL
Nice video man. I think the eBay store clean out is a great idea. I have a lot of slabs that no one wants and also have a ton of grading rejects. Going to send them in and see what happens. It’s nice to have some money freed up to buy the players and cards you know will move. Thanks for the info 👊
I'm glad that I am not the only one thinking Probstein has a weird system. I do not think it helps them at all the way they do their process, but at the end of the day, it works out. I also cleaned out my COMC listings that have been on the site for 2+ years via auction. The majority sold for close to the listing price and a few above the original listing ask price. Cards were mainly serialized or rare inserts. I would like to point out from a buyers/flipper perspective that ebay consignment shops are really attractive when it comes to combined shipping. However, it seems that there are a lot of bidders that intend to flip which explains the low sale rate cards going for more than they should.
Nice insight in your comment, thanks 🙌 Probstein does need to upgrade their system eventually, but you’re right, at the end of the day it still works perfectly fine
Exactly what I was hoping for 👌 Glad it seems like the vid can help people. I honestly knew nothing about the process of using companies like those before making the video
Great video. I actually did this the other day in my eBay store where I sent a chunk of cards to auction (albeit a much small amount of cards 😅). Appreciate you taking the time to go through the processes for the consigners as I haven’t used them before 👍🏻
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 had a handful go for what I would consider less than comps, but nothing too disappointing. At the end of the day, after watching your video for the value of the cards I was selling, any increase I potentially could have received by having more eyes probably would have been eaten by the consigner fees. I had already spent the time listing them, so it was just a few clicks to end and send to auction so the spirit of sending it to a consigner and having them make the listing wasn’t there.
Excellent video. I personally use Probstein all the time and have grown to really like their way of doing things. Great communication as well. Btw, another option for fee-less payment is a mailed check.
This was a tremendous video! Thanks for all the detail. I’ve used DC many times but never Probstein. It was interesting to see your results though and I may consider them in the future. Couldn’t agree more about once those cards leave your house, you don’t think about them any more!
I had the same 'light switch' as you did with GregMorrisCards. I've consigned with them twice and both times I was very happy. You realize that the work that it would've taken to list and ship yourself is worth the fees, at least in my opinion. Those little 50 cent fees add up. That leads me to a question for you. You didn't go over what the Fees were with both, but do you think you it was worth the fees for the convenience of not putting in the work? I wonder what the results would've been if you split up the slabs with - Probstein, DCSports, and You!
Those results would have been interesting for sure 👍 Overall, I feel it was definitely worth the fees to go with them. It would have been so tedious and time consuming for me to list all of them. I’m very happy I went with a consigner in this particular case 👌
Great video! Like how you compared both consignments. Man I would also have a hard time letting go slabs for cheap after taking the time to review and go through the grading process. You know those buyers scored on good deals! Just crazy how a graded card can sell for less than the current grading fees. Thanks for sharing!
Good insight to the ending times. I'm not sure all the consignment companies give it as much thought as I'd prefer. I used to use one for those items I was dumping from the eBay store. Had to stop though, after they had a whole slew of auctions ending at 7pm CST on Halloween. Not nearly enough eyes on eBay at that time. Flip side, those types of auctions are always good for scoring bargains.
Very true…I do get the best deals on auctions ending really late, or in the middle of the night 👍 But definitely a bummer if you’re on the seller end. Like you said, unfortunately these consigners don’t give it enough thought :( Thanks for watching!
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 Can't they set a time for an auction to end. So like do the work of putting them up and then set it to end at a decent time Crazy

I've sent to DCsports before but buy from both, I'm gonna try Probstein next time. Glad you freed up some space and made some money, getting that gorilla of your back probably feels great!
Great video. Interesting how 1995 Probstein still operates when it comes to cashing out. It would be interesting to see how many sold at or above market.
What at an amazing video perfectly timed with the beginning of the new years. I was shocked in January looking back and seeing listings that did not receive a single view in 3 months on the store with dynamic ad rate turned on I might add. I am taking the time to manually re-price cards and just like you said cut bait and make it no longer dead money and focus on cards with more upside. I also noticed your strategy shifts the longer you resell as you notice patterns in what sells versus what people are not really interested in that you are way over exposed in, ie Basketball. I agree with everyone’s assessment that I sell a ton of the same few hot players or ones on streaks versus HOFs in the wings. How are you keeping track of purchase prices versus what you sell them for, have been looking for a good spreadsheet to keep track of this, hoping to include eBay’s fees and ad costs. Thanks for another insightful video, these last few videos have been outstanding.
Patterns in what sells is definitely important…good call 👍 And it’s good to check back into your listings a few months after you list them to see how many watchers you have. This let’s you know if you need to cut bait or lower price. I honestly don’t have a system of what I spent vs. what I sold for. I usually just check eBay purchase and sold history, and I have a pretty good memory 😃 Thanks for the awesome comment
Nice vid. Got to cut sling load sometimes. I'm in the process right now of shipping out a bunch to COMC to make something instead of them just sitting here taking up space and going down in value.
Smart 👍 I like comc because it’s a middle ground between selling yourself and selling with a big eBay consigner. I plan on sending them some cards this week too!
Was going to send an order to DC until i saw this! I'll be honest I just want to get rid of most of them (200 plus cards). Probsteins website gives no info on how to ship. I really don't feel like doing an excel spreadsheet or documenting all the cards in the package. To be honest. Do you know if they require that or can I just send them?
You can just send them…no need for a list or anything. I didn’t include a list 👍 Just include a paper with your name, email, and address. Good luck! I hope your auctions do great! 🤞
Yeah, what ya gonna do about that horde of 2018-2023 Prizm - I really liked them but talk about a depreciating asset. This was video was very appreciated!
I’m going to keep dumping those ugh. It hurts because I really liked them too, but I like money that is alive more 👍 Thanks for watching and the comment, much appreciated
Nice comparison video. Did Probstein or DC let you know upfront on which days your auctions would end, time of day, or how long the auctions would be? Those would all be questions I’d ask upfront. Also, are you going to get hit for taxes on that money? You realistically wouldn’t have to pay taxes on that money if you were under the yearly dollar value and 200 transaction threshold, but since both Probstein and DC will pay taxes I imagine, are they going to 1099 you?
Thanks! I hope the video was helpful 👍 No, they both didn’t tell me when the auctions would end, or time of day, or for low long. As for the tax stuff, to be honest, I would like to know the answer to that too. I’m going to go ahead and pay taxes on it, just add it to my normal eBay sales. But I will consult my tax guy before to make sure 👌
I like listing my own cards too but I’m not sure how you save lots of money. eBay charges me 13.5%. And I still have to ship the items. With envelopes, tape, labels, time, it seems like close to a wash.
Great video. Your experience with Probstein sounds much like mine. Old school for sure, Lol. Overall i liked it - quick listing, quick and easy payout, and they have 1mil+ eBay followers (a few more than my 75 followers Lol). Fees are reasonable considering the # of eyes you get on the listings. Like you mentioned in your video, it can hurt to take a loss and cut bait on same cards. But after doing it it felt a bit "cleansing". I sent them way more cards than I originally intended, just because it felt good to move that stale inventory and actually get a good payout at the end. While consignment might not be "the move" in every scenario, it's definitely a tool that can be leveraged and sometimes it takes hands-on lessons to figure out how. :)
Totally agree. I also felt that nice ‘cleansing’ feel you mentioned. Once they were out of sight out of mind, mentally I was totally fine getting rid of them for a loss 👍
Really good information, thank you for doing this. One thing I may have missed (multitasking) is how long did each one take from you shipping until they got them listed? Ive done alot of cards through comc and sent some to ebay auctions via comc but I have been thinking about trying some others.
Setting up at a show wouldn’t have been a bad idea, but most likely I would have only sold half of them after a long day. And I’d still be left with the other less desirable half 🤪
I still prefer to sell my own cards too👌 But I have a problem letting go of cards, but once they are out of sight, then I’m good. That’s why using these consigning companies might be good sometimes 👍
Great lessons here Dustin & thanks for sharing this experience. I consign cards locally rather than myself through eBay & it’s stress-free for me especially once I get over the money lost buying the cards originally 😆Good news about your future eBay item re-pricing. I’d like to buy from you but shipping cost to Canada & old pricing has detracted me. Put aside a few Rodgers cards, will ya? 😂 Just curious. What did you insure your shipments for to the consignors? Big money?
I used the love consigning my cards at a card shop back in the day…it was so fun. Thanks always for the kind comments. I honestly didn’t even insure the cards when I sent them to the consigners…I just sent them priority mail with signature confirmation. Higher end cards, I would have 🤪

Next time send in higher valued cards to see whats up?? For example 2 Gem Mint Luka Prizm rookies...to see who sells for more? just a thought...love you man
Does time of year matter much when selling a card? I.E.. Does selling cards in the offseason affect the sale price y much? If so, what percentage roughly??
Yes, time of year does matter 👍 I’d say overall selling a card in the off-season of that sport effects the sale price by 15-20% give or take. For example, the best time to sell football is August/September, and the worst time would be March-June.
Hey man love your channel Ive watched for a long time and we are about the same age so its cool to see us old timers still in the hobby. So if you could just sum up the submitting process for DCsportscards. I have a bunch of like $5 to $20 cards i need to sell. So should i use the standard submission level? Also the flat fee per card just comes out of your earnings are do you have to pay the fees up front? Sorry for the long message but trying to learn Thanks
Us old timers gotta stick together! 🤪 Thanks for watching my content. Yes, just use the standard submission level, check that box on the submission sheet you print out from their website. On that sheet, also write your username, email, and phone number too. I also just put the total number of cards included up at the top. You don’t need to pay the flat fee per card up front, they just take that out at the end 👍 Good luck! Hope you do well on there
To be honest, that’s one thing I’m unclear on and wonder myself. They never asked me for a ssn number or anything. I’m going to go ahead and add in those sales to my regular eBay sales and pay taxes on it 👌
Thank you for always watching my stuff! And a big thank you for the lebron topps purchase 🙌 Also, good call on selling your Luka with MC sports cards or Probstein
I've cut way back on basketball cards recently. Nobody buys them unless they're LeBron, Curry, Jordan, or Kobe. In the other major sports star players sell, but with basketball nobody wants them. Giannis is arguably a top 5 player in the NBA and Joel Embiid is the reigning league MVP and I can't even give away their cards.
I’ve also noticed myself cutting back on basketball cards too…except lebron, jordan, and Kobe. I’m actually thinking about picking up Giannis stuff while it’s low…he should go down as one of the best when his career is all said and done. I always appreciate your comments 👌
You all have noticed too! There’s a bump with NBA players who have a hot streak or make a playoff run but you have to time it almost perfectly and majority come way down and never regain. I’ve found baseball to be the most stable and football more predictable depending on player and summer/preseason hype.
@@sp123 I disagree. I think the point of the hobby is different for different people. Some like to collect their favorite players, some like to collect teams, some like to collect sets, some collect based on potential future value, and so on. In other sports people buy different players, not just the top 5. Take Damian Lillard for example. He's a superstar player and future hall of fame'r, but nobody buys him. I haven't sold a Lillard card in over 3 years. An equivelant player to him in football hockey or baseball I sell regularly.
Low Value Cards: Should I filter out lower value cards before sending the entire lot? If so, what should the threshold be? $1, $3, $5...? Also, what would be the best way to determine the value of cards quickly? (NOTE: I have hundreds of cards).
Yeah, I would filter out the lower end cards. And only send in cards you think would for sure would sell for at least $3 bucks or higher 👍 I would just use eBay completed listings for comps, or use comc to see what the lowest for sale price is for that card. Hope that helps! LV
I’m jealous 👍 That would have saved me money to ship all those cards to them. I’ve always wanted to be close to Newport Beach Cali to drop off at PSA too. Thanks for watching!
Ouch. On average the cards sold for less than half the cost of grading. There has to be a junk-slab lesson there somewhere. Definitely some courage displayed to make that step. As long as you don't take the proceeds and "invest" in more junk slabs!
Yeah, definitely hurt but I knew it was gonna. It was junk slabs dead in my inventory so I’m happy to see them go. Definitely didn’t reinvest in more junk slabs 😅 Thanks for watching!
Didn’t have the time to list them and ship them all out unfortunately. Plus probstein and dcsports87 get more eyes on their listings than I would have 👍
It’s my belief I wouldn’t have had as many eyes on the auctions as either of those two companies. They both have so many followers, and people trying to win their 1,000’s of auctions that end each night just to take advantage of their combined shipping. I think I would have made 30% less if auctioned myself. Thanks for watching!
I’m not a huge fan of DC. I’ve never cosigned with them. But have had really bad luck buying raw cards with them. They often miss the card condition. And their customer service is trash

it's a shame. I'm tired of DCSports cause they take too long to list your cards, they list them piecemeal AND only for 5 days. BUT last time I tried to contact Probstein about a question I never heard back. So. Not looking good. DCSports promises a certain amount of business days to list but then they only list 'standard' and hold the slabbed ones back or vice versa. I'm assuming they're so overwhelmed they try to get each person going on sales in some form by listing half your cards. It's nonsense. They should list them all at once or not at all. It's annoying to keep saying so where are my other cards, etc.
I completely sympathize with your comment. Unfortunately they all have their faults :( And it’s really annoying dcsports doesn’t list all your cards at once. Apparently they separate out thicker cards, and slabs. Those are listed separately from regular cards. And I’d also love to see a 7 day auction window
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 your vid was amazing by the way. i really appreciate when people take the time to do this type of thing. @@littlevictoriessportscards197😮🙌🧠That’s amazing, keep up the great content
What sleeves do you use for slabs that don’t cause scratching
Great question…and I have a good answer now 👍 Use Ultra Pro brand graded sleeves. They’re made of nice, softer plastic
Did you ever consider setting up at a card show instead?
Setting up at a show wouldn’t have been a bad idea, but most likely I would have only sold half of them after a long day. And I’d still be left with the other less desirable half 🤪
Have heard plenty of horror stories of both to conclude selling your own cards is the way to go.
I still prefer to sell my own cards too👌 But I have a problem letting go of cards, but once they are out of sight, then I’m good. That’s why using these consigning companies might be good sometimes 👍
Dear Sir:
Good video!

Could you tell me the APP name?
Thank you very much!!!
The app is Card Ladder 👍
Thanks for watching! Happy collecting
Great video!
I appreciate it! Hope it was helpful 👌
Ty for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great vid
Thanks…I always appreciate it 👌
Can you ask probstein to do 10 auction ending on sunday 8 pm?
Not sure if you can ask them to end at a certain time, I think it’s up them which is understandable 👍
Just curious.
Higher end cards, I would have 🤪
Hey man been awhile been out the hobby for a little bit gonna sell most of my collection I think. Wanna hold the stuff I think is good but could use the cash lol. Great video as always sorry I’ve been afk wanted to say hello!
I hear ya. I could always use a little cash too :) Definitely consider selling with one of these consigners, it will save you time. Thanks for watching and good hearing from ya again!
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 of course man and I found a local guy that will hopefully take the majority. I think I want to be involved with the hobby but maybe that invested not sure. I hope the channel has been doing good and gonna try to keep up with the videos!
Great video
Thanks! I hope people find it helpful 👌
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 are you taking losses on many of these to reduce taxable profits too?
I send lots of 10 cards to DC87 and target 30 per slab or more to be profitable but I have many that fall short and it’s cost of business etc.
Next time send in higher valued cards to see whats up?? For example 2 Gem Mint Luka Prizm rookies...to see who sells for more? just a thought...love you man
I like your thinking 👌 But the higher end…I pretty much only trust myself to sell them :)
Awesome video was wondering as well
Thanks for watching my content! Hope it was of help 🤙
So what was your profits or losses totalled?
A lot of those cards were originally bought 3-5 years ago so I don’t remember what I originally paid, so I couldn’t figure out profit/losses
You should be audited by the IRS lol
I have a bunch of cards I am clearing out as well.
Good luck! It feels so great to clear out actually, I was surprised cuz I can be a card hoarder 🤪
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 me too lol and thanks!
Love it
I appreciate the comment. I'm stoked people are responding well to this vid
Hey man love your channel
Ive watched for a long time and we are about the same age so its cool to see us old timers still in the hobby.
Hope you do well on there
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 Thanks man for the reply.
Do these companies send you a tax form or do they cover as they are the seller?
To be honest, that’s one thing I’m unclear on and wonder myself. They never asked me for a ssn number or anything. I’m going to go ahead and add in those sales to my regular eBay sales and pay taxes on it 👌
Clutch video man. Thank you
Thank you for always watching my stuff! And a big thank you for the lebron topps purchase 🙌
Also, good call on selling your Luka with MC sports cards or Probstein
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 leaning towards DC Sports now. Can't make my mind up LOL was going to send in a couple dozen slabs at the same time
I've cut way back on basketball cards recently.
That's the whole point of the hobby, people chasing the same 5 players in 2-3 sports
Very helpful this was awesome
And only send in cards you think would for sure would sell for at least $3 bucks or higher 👍
I would just use eBay completed listings for comps, or use comc to see what the lowest for sale price is for that card. Hope that helps! LV
whats that mahomes card front center go for? Is that i a good card for investment, thanks
Which Mahomes card are you referring to? 👍
With me I can go directly to probstein to pick up with authorization since I'm in NJ and 1.5 hours tops away.
I’m jealous 👍 That would have saved me money to ship all those cards to them. I’ve always wanted to be close to Newport Beach Cali to drop off at PSA too. Thanks for watching!
Wheres Probsteins located in NJ?
@justincogdill8157 they are located near NYC. Like I said I had authorization to pick up cards personally. Timing wasn't right. Got cards in 2 days
@sdharrow1947 ...Oh ok, so you cant drop off there also, thanks
Thank you for this
So glad it could be helpful! Thank you for the support 🤘 LV
Why not just auction yourself?
Didn’t have the time to list them and ship them all out unfortunately. Plus probstein and dcsports87 get more eyes on their listings than I would have 👍
Why not just auction them out of your own store?
It’s my belief I wouldn’t have had as many eyes on the auctions as either of those two companies. They both have so many followers, and people trying to win their 1,000’s of auctions that end each night just to take advantage of their combined shipping. I think I would have made 30% less if auctioned myself. Thanks for watching!
I’m not a huge fan of DC. I’ve never cosigned with them. But have had really bad luck buying raw cards with them. They often miss the card condition. And their customer service is trash
It’s tricky buying raw cards on eBay. I’ve had bad luck with all the big consigners sometimes, other times I receive gem cards. Such a gamble for sure
😭😭 yooo don’t send the Duncan , I’ll take those
I like the Duncan RC’s too 👌 It’s crazy how much they have dropped in price since the boom 😳
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 people are just looking for the hype right now in my opinion. I’m a young guy with an old soul so I know the true value 🔥
it's a shame.
Consignment is great, it's good we have options... what I don't like is the feeling that they're not being straight with me about waiting times. Plus you get the feeling with millions in sales they could hire more people to list stuff. Of course, I have no way of knowing for certain but my assumption is they're making good money so why am I waiting on cards I mailed in on september 2nd. I want my stuff listed b4 the world series is over LOL
Try PCsportscards that’s who I consign with
I’ll look into them 👌 Thanks for the tip!
