@@cajuncardboard Unfortunately, not everyone had the same experience you had with them. Missing cards from your bin without answers, explanation, or returned phone calls.
Hey man, this was the EXACT video I needed. Been preparing to sell and my motivation level has gone through the roof. Wanted to go with Probstein because my experience as a buyer was so good but haven’t had anyone actual explain in detail the process, portal and payout (in comments). You did all that and got me excited. Keep up the good work. Your motivation and attempt to provide value will make this channel consistently improve over time. 🙏
I recently noticed on eBay auctions they added a tiny gold sticker on front slab just below label. The title description states "GOLD DMD"...What is that for? Thanks for good information, appreciate your reply!
Nice video and good insight into consignment with Rick P however I would argue selling most cards via auction right now is - EV. Unless your desperate for liquidity the best way to sell is Fixed price as you will receive a better price realization. All in all enjoyed the vid. Thanks for posting 🙏
Henry I completely agree that the best yield right now is unquestionably fixed price, but I have probably 1200+ slabs I need to move and the timing is very good to buy into certain cards that I’m interested in. The cards that I’m buying into are at auction as well so it’s sort of a wash.
Yo Cajun! Hey man I’ve been consigning with DCSports87 for about 3 months now. Watching your video a few times has helped me decide if I should stay or move over to Probstein. They sound similar in regards to the online portal and cash out. I will say that DC has had a problem that’s persisted where it’s super duper hard to find your cards online. It’s possible but not all of them. Many times cards were not listed when other cards were from the same package or packages I’ve sent them. I send about 2-6 packages a week. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is that Probstein offers the option of doing a FixedPrice listing. Thats a GMAE CHANGER for me. DC only offers 5 day auctions for which all start at .99 cents. I’ve seen to many of my cards sell for under current market value. Probstein also offers a better commission rate. Like 4%-9% higher. Thanks for doing this video. A part 2 would be great! Thanks again man, oh hate even saying this as I hate self promotion, however I’d have time, do me a solid and check my channel out. It’s janky but it’s a channel. Even monetized. Ghosts & Garbage Pail Kids. Same umbrella of audience as yours, sorta. Anyhow, thanks for helping me with my decision on which consigner I’m going with. 👍🏼
Worked out great. Got paid out. Satisfied with the payout % and sales prices. Consigned about 800+ cards total over 5-6 months. Just my personal experience. Was perfectly fine. Only 3 card listings went unpaid twice and when that happens they send those cards back to you
Great job, Bryan. Did you post a follow up? Also, did you state in this video Probstein's cut of your gross? I'm in a similar situation, a bunch of slabs that need to go, have used Probstein for singles in the past, considering a bulk submission like yours here. Thanks for sharing!
Lester the confirmation email that probstein sent me has their most updated consignment % fees. I just know super cheap low end stuff is 85/15 which is about what I’d net on eBay myself I think after eBay fees, shipping and supplies. 🤷🏻♂️ Over $1000 sales are 95/5 I’m pretty sure?
New sub here. Thank you for your in depth content and I'm looking forward to learning these kinds of things as I am beginning selling a fairly large collection. question for you If you don't mind.. What's the best way to ensure/insure that my cards don't get lost or stolen when I send? I assume there is insurance, but if I send hundreds of cards to consignment and they get lost or stolen, would I have to have pictures or some type of record of what was sent to file the claim? Thank you
DM works best on IG but you can buy a collectibles insurance policy that will cover a very large dollar amount of shipping in or shipping out as long as the tracking number is provided. It provides an extra larger umbrella layer of insurance over and above whatever USPS or FedEx will ensure.
Yes I did, I always ship anything over $2,000+ fed ex priority overnight sit required. Just remember that there’s a different shipping address if you send via FedEx. Do not send fed ex to P.O. Box
i strongly advise against using probstein for several reasons including sloppy listing practices, sloppy shipping practices, and the fact that they will lose your stuff. I sent them a case of 1989 donruss wax over a year ago and they never listed it. I have heard from others on blowout who also waited over a year for their consignments to be listed. I once received a Joel Embiid National Treasures rookie auto purchased from probstein and it was not even in a sleeve! just toploader sliding around and it had a dinged corner that it did not have in the listing photo.
I shipped on day 1 the cards were listed on day 4-5-6 and I received a wire for my full amount in day 13 in my bank account. All I can do is speak to my experience. It was impeccable. We shall see how round 2 goes. I shipped another 450 slabs two days ago.
Your name, your email address, your cell phone number, your bank wiring information and a general inventory of what is included in the box. If you ship USPS there’s a PO Box, if you ship FedEx there is a street address. That’s it.
I listed a big Marvel card with Probstein. 3 sales of same card within 45 days of $2400, 2200, 2500. Mine sold for $720. I was furious. Not saying I’m against them but am saying I won’t use them again personally lol
@@cajuncardboard yeah agreed. I def don’t think mine is representative of all Probstein auctions and I buy from them often. But to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Lol And yeah Market is def soft. Making me want to keep buying more Jordan’s! 💁🏼♂️
I’m assuming you’ll need to keep track of your own income tax in this situation? IE - probstein isn’t sending out 1099s and the sale (obviously) isn’t being added you your 1099 from eBay.
I have no idea. I track all my purchases and sales myself regardless of platform. Probstein sends me itemized sales reports the day after the listings close so I export those directly to excel and I’m done at that point. Seamless.
Oh yeah I know. It actually went fantastic. I think I consigned over 1,000 cards in 3 shipments and only maybe 12-15 maybe went unpaid which was shocking. 3 went unpaid a second time and were shipped back to me. All the sale prices generally speaking were what I expected. I got paid out by probstein in 5-6 installment wires and all good. I never did a follow up video because there was just too many damn cards to go through and look at the sale price of each, and everyone of them, somewhere over comps in somewhere under cops, but mostly all about what I expected.
Interested to see how many non-payers you get on your cards. I sent a few cards to a different consigner and they had to relist one card a few times. It was annoying, and it was of a random player, PJ Washington.
I posted the link on IG but All those auctions closed a few days ago sorry. Sending another shipment of about 445 slabs that should be up in a few days.
They were not good for me personally. It took me so many months to get some cards back that “weren’t sellable”, one was a 1988 MJ raw that I just got back a bgs 9. Not an amazing card but certainly sellable. It was messy!
It should be Cajun cardboard but the slabs in this video have already sold and been paid by probstein. It was crazy fast start to finish. I was shocked.
Well then we will work something out in the future! I am still in Fort Myers doing hurricane work but when I get back we will hit up a Pelicans game and trade a card!
Thanks so much for this video! Helped alleviate a lot of the questions and uncertainty I had with leveraging Probstein.
Valuable insight/review on using Probstein for consignment. As always, another great episode. Thanks Cajun!
My pleasure!

I have used Probstein a few times in 2022. Sold about $35k with them and it was an outstanding process and service.
So far so good for me as well Craig.
