    People are complaining about cross-overs but it’s resending in to the same company over and over again that is a much bigger problem. I know a guy that sent a card to PSA 11 times before he got the grade he wanted. That is messing up pop reports waaaaaaay more than crossovers

    Geoff I agree with you that the card market has great potential for years to come even for rare marvel and pokemon cards. I can only imagine the premiums for 1/1 refractor cards.

    Great video Geoff! I am a BIG fan of the $1 bins at card shops. Usually I am the only one searching these and can find some good, older cards ($3 Cooper Kupp RR Optic holo last month). As for crossover grading, I am a bit more economically cautious. With S&H, if I avg. $33/card for SGC, then submit to PSA at $53/card, I now have $88 tied up in 1 card and would want a $200 difference in 10 grades to turn a decent profit.

    Cracking slabs does not work with PSA - PSA population controls and their GEM rates are down from 35-45% to Only 8-14%. PSA is VERY inconsistent with their grading.

  • @mikehayes9400
    @mikehayes9400 2 роки тому

    Yes, on vintage graded you will see same card vary a great deal due to centering(not OC). Same grade - one is centered, the other lower sold price one centering worse

    I like MarketMovers but I am not sold on the ebay deals search. Sometimes the last sale of a card is an outlier thus making the market movers insight on a particular card look like a great deal, but it might not be. It would be nice to customize this to search on a median sale or average sale over a period of time, and not just most recent sale.

    So I have a question, if SGC typically grades tougher why don't they sell more than those graded via PSA? Wouldn't it make sense that if the grading criteria were tougher that the card would be more valuable? Thanks!

    I love how it was mentioned that PWCC "split off" from Ebay rather than the more accurate statement that they got kicked off of Ebay for shill bidding. And that's not to mention their repeated fraud with knowingly selling trimmed cards.

    • @bigtrader7924
      @bigtrader7924 2 роки тому

      Jeff is a shill for this industry. He doesnt want truth. He calls truth NEgative. But he is the negaitve one because he hides truth and that is very negative.

    • @luke1jones
      @luke1jones 2 роки тому +6

      @@messagekevin7066 They have proof of continuous shilling. Believe what you want.
      PWCC didn't announce they were leaving before ebay banned them, and said at the time they were exploring legal options. That shiws they were not intending to leave.

    • @scarpfish
      @scarpfish 2 роки тому +2

      @@luke1jones Ebay didn't care about PWCC's "continuous shilling" when it was making them boatloads in auction fees. If they were really concerned with it, they'd have kicked their primary competitor (that one that's always 'actively accepting consignments') off the platform too, because their auction results on high end cards show they're still very much doing it.

    • @luke1jones
      @luke1jones 2 роки тому +3

      @@scarpfish I'm not suggesting ebay is a saint here. Just pointing out that ebay and pwcc didn't "part ways". Whether the real reason ebay finally decided to take action was disingenuous or not doesn't matter. The fact that PWCC is shady as crap and was shilling still remains. I simply wanted to point that out since the video conveniently glossed over that fact.

    You also need to look at how in demand the card is not just how much the recent sales were for, with that Clemente card those 3 sales were all there were for the entire YTD and if the market is already flooded with them you'll need to be the cheapest in order to move it.

    My biggest profit zone with sports cards is arbitrage from the Chinese sports card marketplaces and selling in US sports card marketplaces. The market value is often not the same from one country to another, and I'm doing pretty good the more I understand where the deals are in each space.

    • @dominicgomez7255
      @dominicgomez7255 2 роки тому +1

      They will. It’s called a crossover. However, they ask you what’s the lowest grade you’d take. If you send in let’s say a sgc 9.5 and the least grade you say you’ll take is a 10. Then PSA will evaluate it to see if it meets a 10. If it does meet a 10 then they will slab it in a PSA slab and send back to you. If it doesn’t. Then they will send the card back in its original slab, BUT they will still charge you the grading fee.

It’s all about having liquid cards, If you have players people want they move pretty easy. Good luck, stay optimistic, go to shows with $100 and see how many cool cards you can get and flip those ones turns into $150 dollars and you just keep buying and adding.

    The reasons given for resubmitting to PSA seem to support waiting for the SGC slabs to catch up. SGC slabs look better and are at least equally scrutinized. The Pristine is especially tough to get. If content from reputable sources, like yours, continue to highlight how the sale price difference between the companies doesn’t make much sense; the entire Hobby will benefit.

    You’re leaving out a major item about vintage cards. That PSA 3 Clemente you mention could have poor eye appeal, so the $199 comp won’t apply. Vintage is not a one size fits all, each grade will have a wider sale range because of eye appeal. In the lower grade slabbed realm you routinely see a higher technical grade sell for less than a technical grade 1 below that because of eye appeal

We appreciate the main stream of card industry I think your channel does bring people into the hobby who would just walked past the card window with out looking. I been into cards from 2019-2020 2020-21. I think panini is just flooding the market , and delaying product releases to increase there longevity into when they lose Profesional licensing. Panini is crashing the market with over printing and this will be the transition after panini is out from a falling market to sustainability with fanantics . I got some topps chrome overtime and in set you can see they copied some of paninis inserts. SO fanatics can pick out the paralels say like colorblasts and easily make there own versions that are similar. I rip and sell raw, and im brand new to hobby just me and some cards on ebay.

    When it comes to the PSA crossovers I think the real question is whether PSA cards are overpriced or are cards from other reputable grading companies under priced? Using your Ant Man example, what is a "Gem Mint" example of that card really worth? Because a "Gem Mint" card is "Gem Mint" regardless of who graded it (or if it is even graded at all)

      Good question but it’s irrelevant if you are flipping cards. It doesn’t matter WHY cards in PSA slabs are selling for much higher prices than the other grading companies. All that matters is PSA prices are higher.

      @@joshalbert1260 And this is why the PSA hype train is strong. Flippers have a vested interest in keeping PSA card prices inflated. If the market were to ever smarten up and stop overpaying for PSA then all the flippers would lose a ton of money.

      At the end of the day… once the hype is lowered in the hobby. It’s the card in the slab that matters, because there will be SO Many slabs, especially PSA. As long as it’s a reputable grading company. Psa/Bgs/SGC/CSG/ their values will get closer.

    Just bought a Kylian Mbappe card for $730 as an SGC 10 and the most recent PSA 10 sales have been between $1,400 and $1,800. Add a bit of price runup (hopefully) before the World Cup this fall and if the crossover goes well (SGC to PSA) it could turn into ~$1,000 in profit for a few minutes of actual work. Definitely opportunities out there, and Geoff nailed it - just have to do the work, be willing to take the risk and understand the downside but there are certainly ways to make money from the hobby we all love!

    If you are cracking sgc 10s , and sending them to psa even at 50 a card, that strategy may start backfiring soon. Sgc 10s value wise are catching up to psa 10s. And there are several examples where the sgc 10 has outsold a psa 10 and thec time frame you're waiting may also be detrimental.
