- It’s been a while since we have taken a look at the RX 470 so I thought it was time to give it a revisit and see how well the once popular GPU is holding up.

As many have asked about other devices like a Mini PC I thought I would pin a comment. Yes, this also works with Laptops and AIO PCs as long as the unit has a PCIe type port. We have done this in a previous video on an old Laptop using it's PCIe Wifi port here: ua-cam.com/video/BoY4K8eSFwA/v-deo.html
The PS4 Pro GPU, quite a deal at $175 but Etherium came in 2017...
I had a RX 480 8 GB.
I love that those fans can be so easily replaced. Great that an older card like that is still offering a respectable experience. Impressed with its performance on TLOU.
Yeah the fans are cool lol. Performance is great but you do need to use FSR / FG to really push it through on new titles but then that's fine if you still have one after nearly 8 years lol
There's a problem with 400 series and the reason why I have one but I don't like it. It has only two memory clocks - idle and max clock. Once you start doing something, like opening youtube, it goes into max clock, the temp slowly rises to 50*C and the fans start to spin every few minutes. It's in a constant start-stop fans cycle if you use the computer. This might not be a problem when you have a fan blowing toards it - but if you just leave it in the case to cool itself..this is what happens 😂. The 500 series fixed this. They added one more memory clock in between idle and max, so it stays at a nice temp and doesn't start the fans unless you actually do something more intensive with it to go into max clock.
More surprising? Rx 470 memory can be overclocked to 2145 mhz from 1650 mhz without crashing
You should try jrpg and indie games like persona for these cards
Ive never seen anything on the 400 series. I expected a show.
Solid video.
I didn't expect a lot from it seeing the level of these games now but it did really well, still got some fight in it yet.
finally someone covering the 4gb one !!
VRAM didn't seem to cause it any issues tbh although I might get an 8gb just to compare as I am interested lol
Brother I heeded some help. I wanted to connect a gpu externally with my laptop using your video . I just wanted to know about compatibility. I just want to know if my hp notebook 15 pc can support gtx 1660 ti or rx 590.
@@fahadthetransformer6991 I did reply to you on that video. I have not tried that laptop so I don't 100% know. I have connected GPUs to HP laptops in the past though and they have worked fine. With regards to if those GPUs will work with it, any GPU should.
I mean isn't my laptop too old??
Means you think it will work?
@@fahadthetransformer6991 I have no idea how old your laptop is but I did it to an old HP laptop a while back in this video: ua-cam.com/video/BoY4K8eSFwA/v-deo.html
Omg I bought this GPU new many years ago. Still use it till now. Weell I only play Valorant and Some other light games and edit on capcut. It still does the jobs well (for me).
I will buy another when it can no longer do those jobs haha
Lot of these cards out there some bargains to be had. I had the Asus ROG version looked great in a build!
Yeah, you see them all the time. I keep this one around because it was given to us and fun to play with now and again.
Last of Us was a surprise for me. I have a Gigabyte RX 470 4GB, the only problem is my FX-6300 😅 But it plays most games I wanna play, had no problem with it until recently. Wuthering Waves and Jedi Fallen Order are pushing the system a little bit too much, so it's maybe time to upgrade. Still, the gpu is great.
Thanks for the video!
I also run an fx-6300 ocd to 4.7 ghz with an asus strix rx 470 4gb
XFX made real nice quality cards for RX400/500 series didn't they? Not sure about the components but they definitely feel nice and heavy.
Yeah, feels very well built this one.
Of course, the GPU is still rocking AF! Just use a decent CPU, and you are good to go. If you've got a 8GB one not 4GB 🥴
Yeah, 4GB is starting to really feel the pinch now with modern titles.
I used to have an RX470 just like that one 🙂
It does look exactly like the one you used to have 😝
Still legit card... never owned one.
Tis alright tbh
Talk about a surprisingly strong performance for a 7 year old mid-range card.
Pretty mad isn't it. I think FSR propped it up quite a bit though. I remember testing this card nearly 3 years ago and it was "ok" in those games and it's still "ok" now in newer ones.
Interesting card bud.
The removable fans make it even more interesting lol It did ok to be fair. Thanks for watching.
RX 470 8GB 😎🔥😈😎😎😎🔥🔥
I wish I had one on hand to play with.
I went from a 470 to 580 & now 6600
Decent jumps up. 6600 is a great GPU
