You need to do that again. They have all their prep ready and the grill is hot. I suggest starting with the meat. Mayonnaise Works instead of butter for grilling the Buns. Lodge rectangle griddle or two skillets

Totally feel that. I worked in a lot of restaurants (including mcd) and watching people cook and/or without prep makes me a backseat driver the more hungry I get.

The special sauce is: mayo, ketchup, brown sugar, relish, mustard, pickle juice, salt, pepper. Literally thousand island dressing with dill pickle juice.
Do it again, have everything prepped and also cook it at a killer spot so the delivery driver can enjoy the view and your burger.
They probably had the sandwich made when he was pulling the lettuce out of the grocery bag.

One big take away to think about Mav, they have all of their ingredients prepped prior to having to put it together that includes their Pattie’s being precooked and just sitting there. I’d say you did great!

As a former McDonald's employee I'd suggest trying a quarter pounder faster. The patties They use for the big Mac are pre cooked and kept in a warming cabinet. They cook the quarter pounder patties only when someone orders so it'll take longer for them to get one out

@@bfighter125 in all honesty I have no clue. They say it tastes better but I don't think it does because the patties still sit in a freezer and get flash cooked when someone orders rather than them sitting in a heating cabinet for God knows how long

@@hojulii they switched the qpc patties to never be frozen a few years back.
As kanodogg stated they changed the quarter patties to fresh never frozen and this is why they are all cooked to order, but the small patties are frozen and cooked ahead of time.

As a McDonald’s worker, everything you did is correct. And like you said in the video it is fresher only because the Big Mac patty’s are frozen and ready to cook

Your onions were fresh. McDs uses reconstituted dehydrated onions. I used to do that as part of my morning routine at our local McDs. :)

i recommend washing the produce first before eating. like the lettuce. because so many people could have touched it prior to u buying it. also in case their are small insects within the lettuce leaves, which is common. when i worked at chick fil a, even the "prewashed" lettuce leaves that we used for deluxes sometimes had beetle lookin bugs.

The thing is...he's having to do all the food prep...chopping, sauce pre mixed...McD s has that all done first thing in AM...frozen patties that are thawing in fidge waiting. They just slap it on the grill, collect the toppings and have about 3 people assembling in a line.

Great vid Mav. Your Mac looked so good, I could definitely eat that right now. Small tip on the burger sauce is try adding a teaspoon or so of the sweet vinegar pickle juice. Just adds a little more zing to the sauce mix.

You actually won Mav. When you ordered the big mac they already had their sauces and veggies prepped. Ironically, you had just finished your prep when uber eats showed up, at roughly 10 min, so you only took 6 minutes whereas they took closer to 10.
I disagree. McD probably had it ready and in a bag within a couple minutes. Mav tried to cheat it by ordering it through a delivery service instead of going in or drive through to get it himself.
@@pugmalley Even so Mav still made it faster than they took to nuke it and deliver it. McD employees arent typically hard workers.
@@heofonfyr5089 It's not about being a hard worker, actually making hte burger most likely took them 2-3 minutes tops, but they were also not likely only making that burger at the time but also making orders for 10+ other people at the same time.
The other channels that do this take into account how long deliver takes or how long it takes to go out and bring it home. Usually delivery isn't 50 feet lol.

A basic burger at Wendy's, price is $8.99. I went across to Jack in the Box. Jumbo jack is $3.82. And that's including tomato, lettuce, onion, and pickle, with cheese. This in San Jose, California. Silicon Valley.
That's the thing, when you eat out, you aren't just paying for what you get. You pay for them to cook it for you and to serve you.

I don't understand why people toast their buns first. I always toast them when my burgers are resting right after I take them off the grill. That way you have warm buns and they will even get some beef tallow in them. Always love seeing a new Mav cooking video! Cheers.
same here I toast them in the same pan as I cooked the meat in an it's so much better but he was only trying to be fast I guess.
The only reason I have found is that a freshly toasted bun makes mayo n ketchup liquify vs a cooled toasted bun. But yes i enjoy a warm toasted bun
people toast buns not because to eat a warm burger, but to make inside the buns crusty so the burger won't get mushy because of all the sauces

I would like to point out that when I go to Mc D's and watch as they make my order, they pull out a tray of already cooked patties, that are kept hot. Also the Sauce, Letuce amd Onions are already prepped and ready before you even order.

You did really well, but they definitely have the advantage. I worked at Burger King, and as everything is made fresh also, the patties of beef are pre-made and the onions are prepped ahead, tomatoes are sliced ahead, and the sauce is already in a squeeze bottle. So that helps!

@zen view no one actually expects perfect at McDonald's but at least on the bun would be good. And as far as busy I never see that line moving very fast. But that's why there is choice. But now when you charge real burger prices you should at least get meat and not soy that is so thin it's thinner than lunch meat. But again that is why there are choices.

genuine question do you only ever use the sanitary wipes to wipe off your hands when you’re cooking like that or do you take time to use like Dawn dish soap or any soap with your water jug thingy to actually wash your hands because me personally being a germaphobe and only using wipes after touching raw meat would drive me absolutely insane

I would have had the Patty's pre cooked then timed going through the drive through and compared how fast you could toast and assemble the burger vs a delivery time
Some food related things are different from the states because we have different regulations. Also if you want to make it a fair fight, do your prep first. The guy in the restaurant has everything ready to go. He just has to cook the burger and assemble it. So in my mind you won. 👍👍
Lil' tip... mayo works as a great toasting shmear when you can't find the butter. Makes the best grilled sandwiches ever.
