As a former McDonald's employee I'd suggest trying a quarter pounder faster. The patties They use for the big Mac are pre cooked and kept in a warming cabinet. They cook the quarter pounder patties only when someone orders so it'll take longer for them to get one out

As kanodogg stated they changed the quarter patties to fresh never frozen and this is why they are all cooked to order, but the small patties are frozen and cooked ahead of time.

You did really well, but they definitely have the advantage. I worked at Burger King, and as everything is made fresh also, the patties of beef are pre-made and the onions are prepped ahead, tomatoes are sliced ahead, and the sauce is already in a squeeze bottle. So that helps!

You actually won Mav. When you ordered the big mac they already had their sauces and veggies prepped. Ironically, you had just finished your prep when uber eats showed up, at roughly 10 min, so you only took 6 minutes whereas they took closer to 10.
I disagree. McD probably had it ready and in a bag within a couple minutes. Mav tried to cheat it by ordering it through a delivery service instead of going in or drive through to get it himself.
@@heofonfyr5089 It's not about being a hard worker, actually making hte burger most likely took them 2-3 minutes tops, but they were also not likely only making that burger at the time but also making orders for 10+ other people at the same time.
The other channels that do this take into account how long deliver takes or how long it takes to go out and bring it home. Usually delivery isn't 50 feet lol.

I don't understand why people toast their buns first. I always toast them when my burgers are resting right after I take them off the grill. That way you have warm buns and they will even get some beef tallow in them. Always love seeing a new Mav cooking video! Cheers.
I would like to point out that when I go to Mc D's and watch as they make my order, they pull out a tray of already cooked patties, that are kept hot. Also the Sauce, Letuce amd Onions are already prepped and ready before you even order.

Hey Mav what you could try in the future is cook your burger while your cut to save some time. If your not good at multitasking it would be a little difficult but you could get the hang of it. You inspire me to try new foods and to Adventure more. Keep up the great work.
I think the main reason you weren't faster really, is because you didn't do as much as preperation as needed. I definitely think you can win if you do a different order and be more prepared. Your DIY big mac looks 100 times better than the McDonalds' one and im sure it tastes just as much. Im down to see if you do more of these, perhaps Taco Bell or even McDoanlds again. Just make sure you got everything ready including the stove and the ingredients.
If I am being honest. The McD big mac would probably taste better (when it comes to the flavour you're expecting). They have that down to a science. I would always prefer a homemade burger over a big mac but if I want a big mac I'll go to mcdonalds.

Get a griddle that fits both burners, one side lower temp for toasting buns other cook burgers. Start heating griddle and make patties while waiting for griddle to get to temp. In the time it takes to cook the burgers you prep the other stuff. You can definitely beat the delivery guy. I cook for a living and that would be my try.
5:35 Did you know that not cutting the root on the onion there stops the smell and tears? Only the root when cut at the top of an onion causes the smell. love the cooking with fresh veggies

I worked at Mcdonalds for a long time. The current cooking process is cooking both sides of the pattie in about 32 seconds and they keep the meat in a staging cabinet for about 30 minutes. Who ever put that big Mac together did not follow procedures. Apparently they did not season the meat for the big Mac. To put a big Mac together by to day standards is about 45 seconds. Also Mcdonalds use iceberg lettuce.

You actually won Mav. When you ordered the big mac they already had their sauces and veggies prepped. Ironically, you had just finished your prep when uber eats showed up, at roughly 10 min, so you only took 6 minutes whereas they took closer to 10.
I disagree. McD probably had it ready and in a bag within a couple minutes. Mav tried to cheat it by ordering it through a delivery service instead of going in or drive through to get it himself.
@@pugmalley Even so Mav still made it faster than they took to nuke it and deliver it. McD employees arent typically hard workers.
@@heofonfyr5089 It's not about being a hard worker, actually making hte burger most likely took them 2-3 minutes tops, but they were also not likely only making that burger at the time but also making orders for 10+ other people at the same time.
The other channels that do this take into account how long deliver takes or how long it takes to go out and bring it home. Usually delivery isn't 50 feet lol.

You should add one of those bathroom fans in your truck for cooking. It might let less cold air out in the winter and keep it cooler in the summer
I don't understand why people toast their buns first. I always toast them when my burgers are resting right after I take them off the grill. That way you have warm buns and they will even get some beef tallow in them. Always love seeing a new Mav cooking video! Cheers.
same here I toast them in the same pan as I cooked the meat in an it's so much better but he was only trying to be fast I guess.
The only reason I have found is that a freshly toasted bun makes mayo n ketchup liquify vs a cooled toasted bun. But yes i enjoy a warm toasted bun
people toast buns not because to eat a warm burger, but to make inside the buns crusty so the burger won't get mushy because of all the sauces

I would like to point out that when I go to Mc D's and watch as they make my order, they pull out a tray of already cooked patties, that are kept hot. Also the Sauce, Letuce amd Onions are already prepped and ready before you even order.
genuine question do you only ever use the sanitary wipes to wipe off your hands when you’re cooking like that or do you take time to use like Dawn dish soap or any soap with your water jug thingy to actually wash your hands because me personally being a germaphobe and only using wipes after touching raw meat would drive me absolutely insane

I would have had the Patty's pre cooked then timed going through the drive through and compared how fast you could toast and assemble the burger vs a delivery time

Hey Mav what you could try in the future is cook your burger while your cut to save some time. If your not good at multitasking it would be a little difficult but you could get the hang of it. You inspire me to try new foods and to Adventure more. Keep up the great work.

I think the main reason you weren't faster really, is because you didn't do as much as preperation as needed. I definitely think you can win if you do a different order and be more prepared. Your DIY big mac looks 100 times better than the McDonalds' one and im sure it tastes just as much.
Im down to see if you do more of these, perhaps Taco Bell or even McDoanlds again. Just make sure you got everything ready including the stove and the ingredients.
If I am being honest. The McD big mac would probably taste better (when it comes to the flavour you're expecting). They have that down to a science. I would always prefer a homemade burger over a big mac but if I want a big mac I'll go to mcdonalds.

Get a griddle that fits both burners, one side lower temp for toasting buns other cook burgers. Start heating griddle and make patties while waiting for griddle to get to temp. In the time it takes to cook the burgers you prep the other stuff. You can definitely beat the delivery guy. I cook for a living and that would be my try.
5:35 Did you know that not cutting the root on the onion there stops the smell and tears? Only the root when cut at the top of an onion causes the smell. love the cooking with fresh veggies

I’m never gonna recover from the angle you took the first bite out of the Big Mac.
I worked at Mcdonalds for a long time. The current cooking process is cooking both sides of the pattie in about 32 seconds and they keep the meat in a staging cabinet for about 30 minutes. Who ever put that big Mac together did not follow procedures. Apparently they did not season the meat for the big Mac. To put a big Mac together by to day standards is about 45 seconds. Also Mcdonalds use iceberg lettuce.

Just a video idea... you should look into visiting some less fortunate homeless people and serving up some meals out the window. Could be fun and some interesting conversations.
