Saw Kenny Wayne live in 1998 shortly after this song was released. He was 20 years old and smoking! His guitar work had people hailing him as the second coming of SRV. That was an exciting time with Kenny Wayne and Jonny Lang both killing it on guitar! Thanks for the reminder!
Kenny is on the guitar and was a SRV protege, he is good. Loved this song from the moment I heard it. 🔥 You guys always find the good stuff that I've heard on LPs, brings back some great memories. Ty! ✌🏽
Kenny Wayne Shepherd is the lead guitarist. His father, "Shotgun" Ken Shepherd, was a local DJ in Shreveport, LA and concert promoter. Kenny Wayne first heard and met Stevie Ray Vaughan at age seven at one of his father's promoted concerts. He was in awe and started playing guitar six months later on a plastic guitar his grandmother got with S&H Green Stamps. You need to hit "Deja Voodoo", lead vocalist Cory Sterling, and his tribute to SRV, "Voodoo Chile".
Kenny was 19 when this came out in 1997. He cowrote this but he isn't the singer, just guitarist. You need to check out "LIe to Me" by Johnny Lang. Another kid guitarist and he sings. He was 16 when that song came out.
Kenny was a protege of Stevie Ray Vaughn. He idolized the Texas bluesman and even used to play one of SRV's signature model Fender Stratocasters before Fender gave him his own line of signature guitars
Kenny Wayne is the blonde. I've seen him several times. I mentioned him to you long ago, check out True Lies Or Somehow Somewhere Someway I think you'll like them🎸🎵🎷🎺🎶🎼
I rarely watch a reaction video of a song i don’t know. But I’m here watching because I love to watch YOU gentlemen. The dark haired side man did the lead vocal because that’s what the song needed. Pros always do that.
Saw Kenny about a year & 1/2 ago at the Warfield theater in San Francisco doing a all star show for Jim Ursa‘s rock memorabilia tour He was joined on stage with Buddy Guy , Nancy Wilson , John Fogerty and others. Damn good guitarist.
This song is from Ledbetter Heights, Kenny's first album, released when he was only 18. He had a different singer then, who also had that smokey blues voice. The album and his guitar prowess led to an invitation to tour with The Eagles, where he became friends with Joe Walsh. I saw him perform some years later when he opened for Joe. The singer you see here is Noah Hunt. He is not a guitarist. He plays just a bit. You should check out another song when Noah only sings because his stage presence is powerful.
Have seen these guys live a bunch of times, and it's always a great show! You've got Chris (Whipper) Layton on drums (from Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble), Keven McCormick on bass, Joe Krown on keys. Noah Hunt usually sings (he was the lead singer in this), and of course, Kenny Wayne Shepherd on lead guitar. I went to the Experience Hendrix 2024 show, and Chris and Kevin were providing the backing all night. Kenny Wayne & Noah came out and played a couple of numbers, along with a bunch of other great artists.
I started watching KWS when he was a teenager. He has some SRV qualities. I started watching him when he was a teen as well in seedy bars around Dallas.
Ever since it first came out it gives me a feel of drive on the highway in the California desert at midnight with the top down. So relaxing. Also, the lyrics and meaning behind them are awesome. I think he wrote this in high school too.
Keep going on this band. There are plenty of songs that can show what Noah Hunt (lead singer) is capable of. "Shame Shame Shame" is the next one you should try. Not too many people react to this band, and they are really missing out. Hope you guys start a trend so others will listen. Kenny is one of the best guitarists ever.
Kenny is the lead guitarist (on the left) who also sings a bit. Noah Hunt is the lead singer. This song has all kinds of atmosphere... and KWS lead guitar is perfectly magnificent.
Super cool dude. I had a morning show on a classic rock radio station and he came by for a visit. He gave us all autographed cd's, and also an autographed Fender Strat in a glass case. It's still hanging in that radio station, and that was 30 years ago!
Kenny Wayne Shepherd plays the acoustic at the beginning of this song then jumps on the electric thereafter. Noah Hunt is the one playing the acoustic guitar throughout and is the lead singer although Kenny Wayne Shepherd does sing lead on many songs, Hunt is generally the lead singer. When I first heard Blue on Black on the radio when it was first released, I just assumed that Kenny Wayne Sheppherd was singing until I saw the actual video showing Hunt singing lead. A fantastic band can't say enough about them, there is a good amount of their material out there and they are worth looking into for future reactions.
KWS is the blond guitarist. His father was a local concert promoter and took him to meet SRV when Kenny was 7. He started playing guitar after that. He is married to Mel Gibson's daughter.
I got to see him in 1997 or 98. He was new on the scene (to me) back then. I knew he was gonna go far. He was only about 17, had long blonde hair and TALENT!! This is one of my favorite songs by him. 🤘🏻❤️ My bad, someone commented he was 19. 👍🏻
KWS is awesome. I saw him play along side Stephen Stills & Barry Goldberg, 2 legends, in a group they called The Rides, & they jammed. Great review.✌️❤️🎶
Kenny Wayne is the blonde, Noah Hunt is the brunette. Noah is the lead singer, Kenny Wayne sings sometimes -- he's the lead guitarist. Please react to Somehow Somewhere Someway. Killer song.
Kenny went to see SRV when he was 7 years old and as you can see The res is history It influenced him so much He asked his father to buy him a guitar after the show and he even got to back stage to meet SRV I seen him live in Macon Ga and He gave me one of the guitar picks from his show that night Yall should dive deeper into Kenny’s music He can absolutely shred the guitar and now he has started taken on more of the lead vocals This guy can do it all But he can play some of the best blues around today I’m just thankful that we still have some musicians that still like playing traditional blues
Hey Y'all.....I have to go into the office to deal with shite....turned to your channel....."Blue on Black" and your reaction along with the music has gotten me thru the paperwork!!!!
Saw these guys in the late 90's open for somebody at Great Woods. Jerry Cantrell I think. I saw Johnny Lang about the same time, maybe even at this show.
YES! Kenny Wayne is the leader and lead guitar player (he is back up singer not lead singer) this is his band . He is married to Mel Gibson's (actor) oldest daughter .
Having a hard day with cancer. Found your video and now have a smile and high as a kite. Thanks much!!
Sending hugs your way! 🥰

Get well ❤️🩹
Keep on fighting Marc.👍
❤🙏
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa, and Derek Trucks were all guitar child prodigies growing up at the same time.
Don't forget Jonny Lang. Him and Kenny Wayne were about the same age and started out about the same time. Check out "Lie to Me"
@@gregcarlson6342 you took the words right out of my mouth.
That’s Kenny Wayne with the guitar, he does sing sometimes but Noah Hunt usually sings.
Drummer, Chris Layton played with SRV and Double Trouble on stage
Yes Kenny Wayne is the guy with the blue guitar / lead guitar. 😊
Blue on Black guitar
Next Johnny Lang, they both came out around the same time. Young guns and carrying Blues music to a new era of people.
Excellent choice, I think they would like him! 👌🏽
Definitely! ✌🏽
Johnny is still an amazing talent ... and will always be high on my list
Saw both Johnny and Kenny in New Haven. Johnny's since been having problems with his voice box.
KWS is from the same area as SRV. When KWS was around 5 years old, SRV would pick him up and sit him on top of his amp while he played.
Kenny is on the guitar and was a SRV protege, he is good.
Loved this song from the moment I heard it. 🔥

Used to sit with him and his family at the Red River Revel concert s when he was young
@@TimSipes-k3c How cool!!

Thanks for the info. I saw him in 97, he was killer even then!!
Kenny was a protege of Stevie Ray Vaughn. He idolized the Texas bluesman and even used to play one of SRV's signature model Fender Stratocasters before Fender gave him his own line of signature guitars
Kenny Wayne was just a kid when he wrote this. We all love it when these guys come home to Shreveport for a concert. We never miss one.
Kenny Wayne is the blonde. I've seen him several times. I mentioned him to you long ago, check out True Lies Or Somehow Somewhere Someway I think you'll like them🎸🎵🎷🎺🎶🎼
Saw him, among others, at an Experience Hendrix show.
Highly recommended.
Did you notice that their guitars are both "blue on black"!? Love this song since the first time I heard it. You guys are the BEST!!
Kenny is the blonde dude that played 2 guitars. Lead singer is Noah Hunt. Great band not many people know of. Seen them twice live. always great!
I rarely watch a reaction video of a song i don’t know. But I’m here watching because I love to watch YOU gentlemen.
The dark haired side man did the lead vocal because that’s what the song needed. Pros always do that.
100% agreed
One of those artists that dropped off my radar. Thanks for the reminder. 💜💜💜

The tone on that guitar solo pierces my soul.
Great tone.
Wow! Never heard of these guys and SO GLAD I got the chance to watch this!!! Thanks guys!!
Kenny is the lead guitarist (on the left) who also sings a bit. Noah Hunt is the lead singer.
This song has all kinds of atmosphere... and KWS lead guitar is perfectly magnificent.
Kenny Wayne is the guy with the blue guitar.
Love Kenny Wayne! He is a huge fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan and you can definitely hear that in his playing.

This is the legacy of Page, Beck, Clapton and all the others that I grew up listening to. Ain't it great!! Good music is never ending.
"WAS"
"SOMEDAY, SOMEHOW, SOMEWHERE"
HIS FIRST TWO ALBUMS ARE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bad Dude is right.

Was working in a record store when this came out.Everybody was looking in the rock section for this album when it was in the blues section.
He's good, do some more, I've seen him do Hendrix covers that are a similar level to SRV, he should be better known than he seems to be.
That stuff was smooth like honey
One of the best young guitarist out there.
Kenny is a great guitar player!!!
this song always give me Bob Seger vibes, love it!
Kenny is self taught too!
So good. Thanks, guys.
Kenny is from my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana.
Laa and Chee! Kenny Wayne. You gonna love him! I do! Another Louisiana giant ,I believe..
From Shreveport, La.
@ I was close. I’ll fix it!
Love this song ! Thanks for the reaction!
I love your guys' reaction
There’s nothing to say about this song except it just plain rocks…
KWS is the blond guitarist. His father was a local concert promoter and took him to meet SRV when Kenny was 7. He started playing guitar after that. He is married to Mel Gibson's daughter.
Kenny Wayne is an addiction, don't stop reacting to him,,,
Nice pick this tune was gold the first time i heard it when it dropped.
I got to see him in 1997 or 98. He was new on the scene (to me) back then. I knew he was gonna go far. He was only about 17, had long blonde hair and TALENT!! This is one of my favorite songs by him. 🤘🏻❤️

Love Kenny. He wrote this at 19! I saw him in his early days in the 90s. Awesome...
Well seeing as they were Stevie’s drummer and bass player I would hope they played on stage with him.🤦🏽♂️
I'm always more impressed with Noah Hunt's voice than I am with KWS's guitar playing!!❤
Saw these guys in 1999 with BB King, Taj mahal and indigenous, awesome concert ✌️& ❤️
Deja Voo doo! FIRE! ✌
Kenny Wayne Shepard is Mel Gibson's son in law.
Kenny saw SRV as a child. He def carried his torch. 🔥
KWS….love your reaction! And love him

Don't worry...he will open up!
Kicked back and intense at the same time.
