Yes yes when they brought him on board the songs where they feature him tickling those ivories (ie free bird) rely kicked it up a notch and might add brought some class to their music.
So many iconic songs in such a short time. This was my favorite until I heard............The Ballad of Curtis Loew. This band will live in music history forever.
Forby Leonard Skinner (January 11, 1933 - September 20, 2010) was an American high school gym teacher, basketball coach, and businessman from Jacksonville, Florida. He is known in popular culture as the eponym of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd; Skinner was the band members' teacher.
@@syvsinger1lmao, no he wasn’t their music teacher. He was a gym teacher who hated their long hair and said they’d never amount to anything. They names their band that in spite of him.

Sometimes my heart breaks thinking of the tragedy of that plane crash cutting their creative lives short. I’m typing this with tears in my eyes. Great reaction guys. Peace
@@davidtullis2810 They were all on a single plane. Ronnie was laying on the floor, sleeping when the trees scraped across the bottom. The 20 survivors had some seriously bad injuries, such as Billy Powell's nose was sheared off and had to be reattached. Allen suffered injured discs and his right hand took a beating. Artimus Pyle probably had the less injuries and was able to walk from the rural crash site to find help. The others couldn't walk. There's a documentary here on UA-cam any Lynyrd Skynyrd fan might appreciate.
Listening to Ronnie 's words and voice is like being with a friend you know your whole life every song goes right to your heart and soul love your reaction you just heard greatness
My favorite song by Lynyrd Skynyrd is Simple Man followed by in no particular order Free Bird, Tuesday’s Gone, Call Me The Breeze and The Ballad of Curtis Lowe. I was lucky enough to see them three times before the plane crash with the first being at The Tennessee State Fair in 1974 in Nashville while I was stationed at Ff. Campbell, Kentucky. Skynyrd played first then ZZTop and it was a rockin good time and in my humble opinion Lynyrd Skynyrd stole the show.
The riff that got me to buy my first electric guitar around 20 years ago after hearing the song at the end of Happy Gilmore movie. I heard that riff and I was done.
Skynyrd was so damn talented! Such a shame to have lost those band members so early on in their ascension to the top. I still consider Skynyrd to be the best southern rock band ever.
The fact LS has been gone over 50yrs and are still on the top of many’s playlist is a testament to their powerful lyrics, incredible base and guitar wars and RVZ incredible southern voice. The band of my youth and one of my favorites. Thank you brothers for this.
The instrument that sounded like violins is a Mellotron. An analog keyboard with pre-recorded tape reels of string sections, flutes, brass, and woodwinds under every key, an instrument highly associated with 70's progressive rock.
Lynyrd skynyrd was a tight musical band on point each and every time without fail. So glad I got to see them in June of 1977 a concert I'll never ever forget rest in peace lynyrd skynyrd ❤
Pretty sure they played this in happy Gilmore also. You hear these good songs all over the place and some people have no idea who it is. It was also in dazed and confused I believe.
This song features the great Robert Nix on drums. He was the drummer for Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Roy Orbison’s Candymen. I was lucky enough to hang out with him several times. Friend of a friend.
They are such a phenomenal band with so much talent & such a deep catalogue. So much more than just Free Bird & Sweet Home Alabama (both of which I absolutely love). Thanks for continuing with them..keep on going!
How I love your reactions, mostly because you know music and know what you're talking about. Best music reactions channel around, and I watch a lot of them.
I’ve been privileged enough to see Skynyrd three or four times! Never with their original band members but still always a blast! Skynyrd and Hank Junior! That was a good time, legend Valley!
I remember in junior high I had this album well in fact I had all of their albums plus the Muscle Shoals recordings early on, but like a lot of kids that era of my life was the best of times and the worst of times, and when it was the worst of times, this was one of those songs that could actually make me feel somehow even though I was experiencing all the pain and the regret and the heartache expressed in his voice and in the overall arrangement, but it still rocked enough for a ballad that it kept me glued to it on that level as well. It evokes so many emotions! The Ballad Of Curtis Loew, if you haven't already done it. Also I bet you guys would love Railroad Song.
At this point in my advanced age, I can only hear from one ear and I have to use earbuds to hear at all and still, even hearing just one channel, it's like layer upon layer of musical goodness. I don't know how they managed so much complexity. Great reaction as always guys!
The drummer on this particular track was Robert Nix of The Atlanta Rhythm Section. He filled in for Bob Burns bc Bob wasn’t feeling well the day this song was recorded. Apparently he laid down that drum part in one take. To say he nailed it would be an epic understatement.
4:50 man, everything's gathering, and then the strings come in, O my Mercy! This puts me in the same "place" of nostalgia, regret, longing, whatever you wanna call it, as Zeppelin's "Ten Years Gone." Sad, but mixed with sad smiles, maybe. I've been sleeping on the drummer some all these years, WTF? Thanks for pointing out how good AND varied his work was here! Happy New Year, guys! Here's to everyone having reactions to 2024 as good as the ones that you guys have to the tunes!
Fun fact: this song among many others was rehearsed extensively in a place they called the “Hell House”, because it had no air-conditioning. It was a backwoods shack in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of Jacksonville, FL. They did this because studio time was very expensive, so when they hit the studio they weren’t wasting time working on their songs they were just laying down the tracks because they were so prepared.
Great song from a great album. The orchestral sounds were from a Mellotron. The drummer on this song was not the regular drummer Bob Burns, it was the drummer from the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Robert Nix.
Skynyrd is one of the few bands whose long songs never ever drag. As much as you know Sabbath in 2 beats, you know Skynyrd as well. Those guitars are just perfection. Just wanna sit and drink whiskey at night all alone with this one. Soulful music.
Glad yall are on the journey, you have barely scratched the surface just remember skynyrd was a live band,I know yall like the studio stuff that's cool but to really understand how great skynyrd was listening live is mandatory
Ronnie song about his first marriage ending in divorce which was final on a Tuesday it worked on him for years they married at a young age, interesting facts the drummer was Robert Nix from the band Atlanta Rhythm Section bass player and background vocals was their producer Al Kooper on this song… gotta listen to their Live album’ One more from the road’ Live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta the song T for Texas T for Tennessee oh my it’ll make the dead get up and bust a groove
The greatest band ever
My aunt introduced me to them when I was 6 years old. That was in '76. Now, she wants me to play this at her funeral. Real life
And let's not forget Billy Powell and his tremendous keys on so many of their songs... Roadie promoted to band member!!
Yes yes when they brought him on board the songs where they feature him tickling those ivories (ie free bird) rely kicked it up a notch and might add brought some class to their music.
Thank you kindly for a Lynyrd Skynyrd reaction.
So many iconic songs in such a short time. This was my favorite until I heard............The Ballad of Curtis Loew. This band will live in music history forever.
,,,,until I heard Call Me the Breeze,,,,,until I heard,,,,,💥💥💥👍
These are my two favourite songs from them too, I SCREAM them every time the shuffle blesses me
Ronnie giving it to us straight from the heart, this always had the most melancholy feeling that I'm sure the majority of us understand all to well!

Lynyrd Skynyrd doing a little Southern Blues. Good stuff on a Saturday morning. Ronnie had an excellent vocal range. Thanks guys.
The "strings" on this lick are actually played by Billy Powel on an electric keyboard. What musicians!

Piano solo and that mother fucking guitar outro. These cats were the beatles of southern rock
love billy powell's piano solo in this tune.... Hell Yeah Y'all
Unforgettable Southern rock....sung by the best.
Imagine being at a Skynyrd concert in the 1970's listening to song after song of the greatest music ever, Southern Rock! Miss those days!
The riff that got me to buy my first electric guitar around 20 years ago after hearing the song at the end of Happy Gilmore movie.
I heard that riff and I was done.
Beautiful orchestration in this one
The Greatest Southern Rock band ever!
No doubt.
Hey great song and great choice very underrated song
Skynyrd was so damn talented! Such a shame to have lost those band members so early on in their ascension to the top. I still consider Skynyrd to be the best southern rock band ever.

@joegreen925 no it was in July . It was buffalo in June.
One of the Greatest Bands of All Time.
This song has always made me cry. The sadness and longing portrayed is incredible 🧡
They were surgical with their instruments,Ronnie’s voice is a masterpiece.
Saw them twice 76, and 77. Always great. Still in my top 5 favorite bands.
In my top 5 as well.
One of my favorites, great song to reflect on
Pretty sure they played this in happy Gilmore also. You hear these good songs all over the place and some people have no idea who it is. It was also in dazed and confused I believe.
Yeah, it made me think of Dazed and Confused. I forgot it was in Happy Gilmore, but you're right.
This tune, "On The Hunt" and the "Ballad of Curtis Loew", have always been my top 3 LS songs.
Their first album! The whole thing is fire!
Their live album One More from the Road was one of the first 3 albums I bought, about 40 years ago.
Another band that you guys could do every album from beginning to end. They were such a great band
This first album is so strong. And my 1st concert were these guys in '76. Bullets tour. We miss you Ronny.😞
We had such great music to listen to back then. It is such a shame that many younger people will never hear it.
such a bittersweet and beautiful song, great reaction guys.
Always misty eyed when listening to this. Beautiful.
skynyrd always brings a tear as i sip a whiskey.
This song features the great Robert Nix on drums. He was the drummer for Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Roy Orbison’s Candymen. I was lucky enough to hang out with him several times. Friend of a friend.
All time classic!
Never gets tired!
Southern Rock at its Best 🍻
Lynyrd skynyrd my favorite all time band. I have every album from the real and original skynyrd band The original and the best
They are such a phenomenal band with so much talent & such a deep catalogue. So much more than just Free Bird & Sweet Home Alabama (both of which I absolutely love). Thanks for continuing with them..keep on going!
Such a great song...!
Recording was done at Muscle Shoals. Some crazy stories about those early sessions from there first album “Pronounced”
The drummer on this song was Robert Nix (the drummer for Atlanta Rhythm Section, another great Southern Rock band).
How I love your reactions, mostly because you know music and know what you're talking about. Best music reactions channel around, and I watch a lot of them.
Thanks for rocking with us!!
Agree
We missed out on the rest of this bands life. Would have been a player for a long time. Brst southern band ever.

This song is do special. It touches everybody's heart and mind so much that even Metallica covered this and is on one of their albums!
Happy Gilmore

Oh hell yeah! Grand Funk's "Closer to Home" album top and center behind the guys...
Bought that GFR album when I was 15, still play now at 64!!! The best one of theirs, in my opinion and I have them all. Still my favorite band.
Lynyrd Skynyrd does this for EVERY song. You gotta understand!
I love y’all boys so much. Understatement

great reaction guys. That song can bring tears to the eyes...Real honest emotion in that one.
These guys were just flat out something else. Whatever sound your looking for, they have it, rock, soulful blues, jazz (I know A Little). You name it.
Glad you guys did this one, one of my favorites. Saw them before the plane crash. Ballad of Curtis Loew is a good one to listen too!

Aloha gentleman, I think this one is my favorite Skynard song . So much soul so much power gee I think they call it blues. Peace n love

Rossington’s slide always gets me in this one. This, simple man and every mother’s son are some of my favorite Ronnie vocal songs!!!
He’s not playing slide on this, but point taken. It does sound like slide sometimes the way he bends.
@@GoldTop57wow, what tone and fuzz then. More props to him then. Thanks for the “correct” 🙏🏻
