I love brands that sell travel sizes like Curl Smith, so good for trying out new products and for travel of course. That scarf of yours is so beautiful and looks amazing on you. Thanks for a great travel video Hanz. I used to travel a lot and always straightened my hair because the thought of washing it while away was too much, these tips are so helpful that I’ll try leaving it natural the next time I go ❤
For those doing a long flight I highly recommend dutch braids. Its in a protective style and you can take it down to have super nice waves upon arrival. For the diffuser I took the curlsmith travel hair dryer with me just recently. Only issue I found is the vent will suck up long hair so I have to be SUPER careful as to not lose anymore hair. I definitely stand by the tip use what you know works. Rather use products that work rather than products you're not sure do.
Such a great idea with the braids! I love them when I’m on a hot holiday and need my hair out my face! Ooh we don’t have the Curlsmith travel diffuser in the UK yet but good to know!
This was really useful, thank you for the tips and advice especially on protecting your curls! I didn't know that weather effected your curls - I took the travel size noughty to the rescue shampoo and conditoner, hey curl gel and my mist spray bottle. But I think i'll take my leave-in conditioner and a stronger gel next time as I found my curls went really frizzy and my mist spray bottle broke 😭
So glad you found it helpful! Definitely a learning curve travelling to different climates than you're used to with your curls! Sounds like a stronger gold gel or some hairspray would help add more hold and prevent your curls from frizzing as much!
I absolutely LOVE Vida Shampoo and Conditioner Bars. They don't strip my hair, they leave it feeling soft and easy to detangle. They also can be used as a leave in conditioner. I highly recommend them, especially for traveling.
Where I live in Asia, you can buy a diffuser that clips onto the dryer, if that makes sense. It can fit really wide mouthed hair dryers which are commonly found in Asia and Europe.
Which hairstyle do you use when you're on the plane? A bun/pineapple? Also would be great to do a video about how to tie the scarf! I've never used a scarf.
I do a pineapple bun! Basically my overnight one! I have a video about how to tie the scarf in my 5 easy hairstyles video from a couple months ago! Also see my YT Shorts!
This was very helpful. I haven't gone on holiday for awhile but the water always seems different in a different country or state, so I absolutely must pack my mini Ouai detox shampoo to combat any water issues and have very clean hair. I also pack a strong hold gel cuz my hair does better with that than a cream. I try to deep condition if I have the time as it's a weekly part of my routine. I always have my satin pillowcase to take away, even if I'm just going to stay over at a friends for the weekend.
Glad it was helpful! Ooh yes the different water when away can be challenging! Another reason to take a clarifying shampoo! I love my strong hold gel and pillowcase too!
I mean you have paid for the flight ticket then you might as well carry a lightweight check in luggage, certain amount of weight is always free with the ticket so you can comfortably pack all your stuff. I still transfer my hair products in silicone tubes because it's too bulky to carry all the bottles and jars. But I have never travelled with just carry on 😅 I always have one check in luggage and one carry one with just the essentials and skincare. I also carry just the diffuser attachment. Mine is from Remington and it has adjustable band which can fit any dryer and it was lot cheaper for me.
Haha, I don't think I've had check-in/hold luggage included in my flight tickets, unless it's long haul. But it's easier for me to just take hand luggage for trips that are a week or less, as it means less waiting around for it to be loaded off the plane (plus I save money that way😂)! If I'm going for over a week or for a special occasion and need my curls to look their best, I'll usually take my full dryer and can't always fit that in hand luggage!
I've found that if it's a longer trip there's checked bags as standard, but I'm about to go away for just 5 nights and it was carry on only unless I paid (quite a lot) to check a bag!
Such a great video and great tips. I do have to carry two gels and hairspray. My hair won’t last with just one gel; otherwise I have to wash/wet refresh everyday. 😢😢 Also, I do carry solid shampoo/conditiner/leave in from The Vida Bars and it’s definitely game changer.
Hi Hannah! How does that Curlsmith conditioner compare to Noughty's To The Rescue for “heaviness”? I tend to find Curlsmith products too heavy for me, so I've hesitated to try this one. I have a mini TTR and Intensive Care in my bog bag! ❤ Plus UG mini gel.
Hey! Considering it can be used as a deep conditioner as well it’s actually pretty lightweight! I was worried about this too, but I think because you can use it as a leave in it’s not super heavy. But that’s just my experience!
With the multi tasking conditioner, do you use it as your rinse out conditioner and then apply a small amount again as your leave in on the same wash day? Or do you just use it one way only on the same wash day? Hope that makes sense! 😅
I tend to use it as my rinse out and then add a bit more in - but only because otherwise I don’t have a good idea of how much is left in my hair! Also allows me to feel my hair with no product in to give me an idea of how much leave in to use. However, you could just leave it all in or do a ‘drizzle rinse’ so you only rinse a bit out. I need to get better at doing this on holiday as it would save time and product!
When I do buy curly hair products after I went trough security, how do I bring them back with me ? Or do you just buy small sizes, you will actually empty on your trip ?
I did add a bit in about this but may have cut it. Basically I said you have to think about whether you’ll use the entire product, or if it’ll go to waste. Or if it’s a smaller product it may be that you have space on the way back
Why not just bring lus brands all in one. That way, you don't need multiple products. Forget the dryer; just air dry unless you are going to a really cold climate.
Ooh I’ve never tried that one! My hair had gotten tooo long to air dry, it goes very limp with the weight and I can’t stand wet hair on me for hours 😂 When it’s a bit shorter though for sure!

Me too, for both of those reasons! Thanks so much, such a beautiful scarf isn't it! So glad you found the vid helpful!

@@hanzcurls Sounds a bit like the Garnier ones. I'll try the small sized one next time I order Bond Salve. Thanks! 🙂

I used a diffuser sock that I got on Amazon. It wasn't ideal, but it took way less space and fits on all hair dryers
Oooh I’ll have to look into this! What were your results like?
