Lots to think about here, thank you. I’m also a low-po, med-high density wavy-curly with hair that can be super silky at times-but then will go to instant frizz the second I scrunch out my in-shower style fixer gel. Maybe I’m using too much product, but it seemed like the same results when I used less… back to the drawing board. Feeling like a mad scientist trying to figure this all out lol
It took me literal years to figure out that my hair doesn't need a crap ton of moisturizing products! I really just need hold. I also 100% agree with the haircuts! Drastic change once I got the damage cut off!
This was VERY helpful! I've made just about all these mistakes! LOL! The biggest ah-ha for me was to cut back on the moisturizing ... especially as my hair has gotten healthier. I didn't think about the fact that it doesn't need what it used to until you mentioned it in one of your earlier videos. Thank you!!
This really helped me, THANKS! i have been having bad wash days and couldnt figure out why until I watched this. Did my hair right after watching and finally got a good wash day. ❤
Super helpful video! Especially about the amount of product vs type of hair. I find sometimes even if someone's hair looks the same type, you can't necessarily tell unless they tell you that it's finer or thicker or that they have more if it because the "end result" looks the same, just for different reasons
Thanks Hanz! This was really helpful. I think I’m getting closer to a consistent wash day. I’ve definitely been over moisturising with deep conditioner, leave in and curl cream, and probably using too much product. I was trying to over compensate for frizz and a looser curl pattern but I’m working on technique and stronger gels to contain frizz and that has helped my hair last beyond wash day and is easier to refresh. I think I have lower porosity hair too so I find oils way to heavy for my hair.
Also, do you find your hair curls up more and lasts longer in summer? My hair has completely changed now we’re going into autumn/winter here is Australia.
Would you say briads or protective styles are a necessity to retain length and is it possible to grow hair by just wearing it out?My hair has recently changed,i used to just finger detangle but recently ive been using a tangle teezer because my hair has gotten longer.i do not really like to sleep with scrunchies in my hair so i actually use a clawclip and i quite like it better. But i don't know if i should keep doing wash n goe or 2 braids because my hair is low density, normal to coarse strands and waist length i believe but it shrinks to my shoulders..but since the density is on the lower side its see through with braidouts and if its over stretched and if it clumps it looks ridiculous.
Yep my biggest mistake is leaving it too long to get my hair trimmed! It’s been 7months now but I do have an appointment booked for a haircut with a curl specialist in December!!
As someone who has curly hair that is too short to put up when it's windy or raining, it is a big struggle. Wind in London is just a curl killer. My hair is also fine and thin. I've just accepted frizz. I do use more holding products that help.
Hi hanz, I've just brought a whole new set of naughty curly hair products. I have never used this brand before, can you please do a video explaining how to use them. Because the only products I use for my hair have been curlsmith.
Hi Hannah. I've not tried using an oil... Does it not loosen the hold that the gel produces? I've just got to the point of using enough holding product to make my curls last. Will they not loosen if i add oil at the end?
You may not need it! If you find your hair is moisturised enough with your stylers and doesn’t lose moisture! A sealing oil is best for people who have high porosity hair - those with damaged hair, who dye their hair or use a lot of heat. I don’t use a lot of oil, mostly use it to prevent tangles underneath as shown in my recent detangling vid!
Thank you so much! I don't think I need it as my hair is low porosity and there's some oil in every single product i use bar the gel! Thanks for your really helpful videos.
Unfortunately silk is a very unethical product. Do you have any recommendations for cruelty free overnight curl protection, that is non synthetic (like satin)?
I have thick, low-porosity hair and I really don't know how much product to use. I'm either not using enough, or to much.
This channel is a goldmine for me as a man trying to catch up on how to take care of my hair now that I've grown it out!
Lots to think about here, thank you.

That’s the first time I’ve heard to wash the lengths of my hair 😆

So glad to hear it! Yes my hair is the same! We’re just told that curly hair is dry so assume it needs all the moisture, but not all hair types do!🧡
I like the middle part!!! You are rocking it!❤
As a wavy, I just use keep curl memory gel. That's a lovely moisturising gel. 1 styler is a winner
This really helped me, THANKS! i have been having bad wash days and couldnt figure out why until I watched this. Did my hair right after watching and finally got a good wash day. ❤
This makes me so happy! So glad to hear it!🧡
Thank you for such an honest video, very helpful

Thank you. I'm learning new things all the time.💕

You mentioned that you use a sulfate shampoo to clarify. Which one do you use and how often?
I mainly use the simple one featured in my previous vids, and every couple of wash days now!

What’s your favourite strong hold, lightweight gel, please?
What are your current fave conditioners right now?

Every Twelve Weeks is very important. Otherwise the
splits travel up the hair shaft
& ours is the worst for this🙏🏼🏴🇮🇪🌸
@ yep! I need to follow this advice but I haven’t had a haircut since I had that haircut in December 2023 🤦🏻♀️🤣 I’m terrible lol

Your curls like very springy today.
Thank you! Was a good wash day!🧡

Yes the Curlsmith satin pillowcase is just as soft, I love it! I believe I’ve featured it in another video x
