  • The Veloroute des Bleuets is an absolute gem for cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The route spans a staggering 256 kilometers, encircling the breathtaking Lac St-Jean in Quebec. It's a well-maintained cycling path that takes you through some of the most picturesque landscapes you can imagine.
My ride began in the charming town of Alma, located right on the shores of Lac St-Jean. Within 4km I had to deal with a pretty major puncture (and tyre blow out), but it was a smooth trip after that. As the sun began to set, I reached Dolbeau-Mistassini, my resting point for the night. The town had a very laid back atmosphere, providing the perfect spot to recharge for the next day.
The second day was a challenge, but one that was absolutely worth it. I did the rest of the route as a 160-kilometer leg, which tested my endurance but there wasn’t any hills that were too crazy to take on so it ended up being manageable. From dense forests to vast open farmlands, the scenery constantly kept you interested. There are a good amount of beaches at points along the route and some great views of the lake.
